S03.E08: In The Same Figure, Like The King That's Dead
catrice2 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Royals (2015) [V]
Wow, I am sad to see that he is getting that kind of hate. I mean it is a fictional character. I personally think the character has elevated the show, however, I will admit I didn't see most of the other seasons. I just wish Max Brown could find a show that can figure out how to use him. -
I guess that is what I don't get about this show. Nick seems to be kissing people just to be kissing people without any real feeling. It's like he is afraid to reject anyone, so if they offer up the lips he just goes along with it. Maybe this is how it is every season, but I can't find romance when everyone is getting the same kisses. Ok, my friend says he has some strange thing with his fingers up and down the girls arms. Can anyone tell me what this is? I seem to have (luckily) missed this.
-
"Permission" was a joke. Trust me I am sure I have talked about people enough before. I was feeling a little bad about it though, probably because I am sick. I know that I rarely watch a whole episode so maybe I missed it, but I have no evidence of Nick being a great conversationalist. I am surprised that they can even determine what he is saying. Oh my! Now that someone has mentioned it, I do see that Corinne has a Joker mouth. Now I will see that every time I look at her.
-
Not taking sides and keeping it referenced on the episode..my baby sister eats a lot, no joke. We teased her that her ability to do that would go away after her 20's, but she is well past her 20's and she still eats like that. She has been a size 00 for ever. She is just now gaining weight (all the way up to a size 2 yall) and is complaining. The main reason she has a stomach is she had a C-Section. Watching her put it away is truly amazing. I no longer make the mistake of offering to pick up her tab when we eat out....no way! Corinne may have just wanted to sample several things from the menu, especially if she was not paying for it. I'm like that, sometimes I have a real taste for multiple things so I may order several things and only have a little bit of each. Of course I only did this when I was on a date and someone else was paying...... I I didn't see the volume, so I am not sure how much food we are talking about.
-
Ok, then Yorklee with your permission ( 'cause I feel so much better about myself now) I will say.....Raven's mouth reminds me of my grandmother's when she had her dentures out. There is something pushed in about her mouth that makes her look like an old woman. Between that and the twang when she speaks, I really do not like to hear or see her on my screen. I also just think she is immature. I honestly can't understand anything Nick says. Between the mumbling and the tone (as well as it looks like his mouth is not moving) I just find him sort of creepy. I agree with someone above, physically I should be all in, but there is something very off putting about him. It, along with the fact that at 36 he could be remotely interested in a Corrine (even for sex) just makes him less legitimate. At this point any of the women.....and there were only two, that I would have wanted to "win" I hope sincerely that they don't because he just seems directionless and frankly insecure. Who at that age has time to be on multiple Bachelor shows and keep up social media? I think my biggest takeaway from trying to watch this show is that the people I want to know about leave, and the people who are boring stay. Surprise from last week? Dolphin girl is only 23? Already has a botched boob job and looks about 15 years older. That is one hard looking 23 year old.
-
Gosh this picture does none of them any favors. I've been ill so I'm glad the forum came through. I'm too sick to sit through more of the Corrine show. I think I may have picked the wrong season to try to watch The Bachelor and understand everyone's obsession with it. So far I think Nick is boring his voice annoys me and none of the women seem to be all that interesting. I really shouldn't say that about Nick after reflecting for a moment because I have seen more of corinne than I have the bachelor and it sounds like last night was no exception. Previous posts indicate that Nick is some kind of Master at the shows, but clearly he must not have realized that they were going to let someone else overshadow his season. Obviously the powers that be think he's boring on his own, and he is willing to look like an idiot for being interested in a 24 year old that acts like a child. Since I don't know how the show works I can only hope this means that they don't get to see or are not aware of from the producers the things that the girls are saying and doing while filming is going on. What are the ratings like this year? Are they comprable to other years? Sorry I missed Rachel's moment in the spotlight. Maybe I can catch a repeat or something. There seems to be varying opinions about whether there is real chemistry or not. I personally think Nick looks awkward with everyone so there's that. I will admit that the ugly side effect of watching this show is that for some reason I feel like I have the right to judge what the women wear and look like and I don't like that feeling.

Somehow I think whatever he told Jasper has to do with Robert. I don't put it past this show to ruin Robert and Sebastian. Why should Jasper dig up dirt on Sebastian? So predictable. I'm not sure what Robert's end game is, but all I can say is he handles himself well. Even if he turns out to be bent as they say in English television, I'd rather watch him being dirty than to watch Liam supposedly be the hero any day of the week. I don't need any more montages with him, memories or sulking, it is just played out at this point. Katherine is boring and Cyrus is turning pathetic. Sebastian is the only thing I can stand about Eleanor. I'm sorry she looks 20 years older than the actress that plays her mother and she just has nothing to do but sit around and sulk after her love interests who betray her or hurt her little feelings. My lord when they were showing them in those outfits all I could think of was they need to feed her quickly. Helena's love life couldn't be less interesting. Whatever his title is, where did he think sleeping with her was going to lead? Didn't like how silly they made Rosie. They could have conveyed the fish out of water without making her incompetent. I just can't with the fox -
It is just sad to me that I have Googled articles of people saying she was a feminist or standing up for herself or they act like it's funny. I don't think it's funny at all and she's lucky they didn't press charges. That may want to do an in-depth background check they make her the next Bachelorette.
-
How do we know this? Were they even on the same show?
-
I saw a Cosmopolitan blurb that said how much they loved that she did this and that she "knew her worth." I think Helen Gurley Brown wanted something different when she created that magazine. Being a woman and knowing your worth has nothing to do with assaulting someone. I am disappointed that she hit the woman. Even if you go crazy, you should go crazy on the person that is cheating on you, and them only. Again, for all the women who are shouting, "you go girl," supposedly these are real people with real lives. Imagine if a man had done the same thing? We would be calling for his arrest. In no way could I respect her after this, but for those that like her to each their own. I didn't even see it and I am appalled. Did she really say, "ride or die?" Nick really likes them young and immature. I can't respect him if Corrine and someone who (with mommy's approval) goes around hitting people in the head with a shoe. I wonder what his parents thought of that little story? She is lucky that they did not press charges. She was already not a favorite for me, but this just confirms my first impression....and it had nothing to do with the accent. I really, really am having a hard time with Nick. Maybe I should try to watch another season when I can at least understand what the lead is saying? I saw been in 1 or 1 1/2 episodes and his "like," and bad grammar just killed it for me. Nick with the tilting of the head and talking like the dummy that is in that scary Twilight Zone episode it is difficult for me to get interested or take him seriously.
-
Gotta disagree with you Yorklee....I love to watch Reba sing that song....something about the head moves and facial expressions.....now I can't stop thinking about the song and luckily I missed Raven telling the story.
-
I actually missed the story about the shoe, saw it someone's post. I agree, being angry is not a regional thing, but assaulting someone is serious. Real respect and dignity for yourself dictates that you walk away and "never let them see you sweat." As someone who has worked with victims for some years, I am always bothered by the double standard. If a man had done something like that the reaction would be quite different. Doesn't matter that she was "wronged," as my mom says two wrongs don't make a right. I also don't think age is an excuse. If this behavior was encouraged by her parent that is slightly disturbing. I can't imagine my mom encouraging me I should reserve my opinion until I look at a clip and find out what she actually said, but again, I don't think Raven is mature enough for a Nick and after listening to him I would say that is a good thing for her. I thought that without seeing or hearing about the clip. But then again, she did tell him she likes a certain type of guy. Judging by some of the comments I managed to miss more of the episode than I thought. I didn't see half of what I have read. Unfortunately it seemed no matter how many times I turned the tv, etc. whenever I came back it was always Corrine. I swear, I thought the whole episode was about her. Can't put my finger on why Jasmine bugs me....but she does.

S03.E07: The Counterfeit Presentment of Two Brothers

Was Simon ever on the show, or was he dead when it started? I started watching after he was dead and they were figuring out who killed him. I missed how Jasper and Eleanor met, and how Robert died. -

Well, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on the new guy. He is too good to be true...handsome, a good listener, understanding, etc. I was half waiting for them to show him meeting up with the reporter to give her intel. Maybe he will end up asking Eleanor to be his beard or something because he has a boyfriend. Didn't really understand the drinking from the flask. Yes, I agree that Kathryn is so bland. I can't even imagine one of them wanting her, let alone both! Hopefully they can leave her to Liam and move Robert on to someone else really quickly. Someone mentioned that Eleanor was known for partying, ,drugs and having a girlfriend. So is Cyrus openly bi-sexual and did everyone know Helena had an affair? If so then why would it be a big deal for Eleanor to date her bodyguard, even if he is a thief or Robert to date Kathryn? -
Well, fortunately I am 1/4 of a season in if you count the 1 1/2 episodes of Ben's season and the now 1 1/2 episodes of Nick. I am not at 21, but I can't take the crazy already! I am trying to watch the show knowing that these are real people, but it is so hard when they have people like Corrine. I didn't see last year, but you didn't have to watch to catch clips, etc. of the blonde crazy person they had last year. I cannot believe she was worse than what I saw tonight. I can't believe they have one every year, that would get old after a while. On the other hand the insecure, whiny ones are just as annoying in a different way Did Corinne really invoke the name of Michael Jordan in her rant? Between the facial expressions, grabbing the boobs, etc all I could think is that the producers want a really young viewing audience, or a really immature one. Between Corrinne's antics and trying to understand one word that comes out of Nick or Raven's mouths I was switching back and forth to tennis. I can't bring myself to DVR this, because I can't imagine subjecting myself to it more than once. I may be forced to, however, just to understand what is going on. I am literally having to turn on the closed caption. I don't want make fun of people, but Nick has some type of speech impediment and something about his mouth is just hard to watch. In a lot of instances he seems really effeminate to me. Skating was not a good look for him. To each their own, but I don't get the Raven love. I think she is just average looking and between the comments about liking a certain type of guy and (I missed the story, but am using someone's comments above) admitting to breaking down someone's door at her age I just can't see her coming out on top. Based on comments about how they cast the Bachelorette, I can't see that either. She is just boring to me. I actually think Raven and Taylor are just as unprepared for someone like Nick as Corrine, but in different ways. I don't know why they cast so young. He should not have had anyone under 28, and that is pushing it. I guess they are splitting up the episodes because I couldn't figure out who already had a rose or who didn't and I have never seen some of those girls before. If Jamie could lose the nose ring she could have been a contender. I'm all about natural hair, but she looked really pretty with it straight, until I got to the nose. I missed the farm, but apparently there was more Corrinne drama. The dolphin/shark is clearly going for the "good friends forever" vibe with Nick. I can't take her seriously as a candidate, especially after the boob birthday. I adore Kristina/Christina, so I am sure that means that she will soon be gone. Jasmine is another one I am ready to see say goodbye. I know that there is a lot we don't see, but there must be a LOT we don't see because I don't get the rationale behind why some of these girls stay around. Nick actually does not look like a good kisser. I hate to see it, but based upon what I have seen so far, the "losers" are really the winners. I cannot respect someone who would keep Corrinne around, even if it is producer driven. I would have to tell them that I care about how I look...and he really looks like a fool to keep someone so immature around. It is so obvious that Corrinne knows she is not going to "win." She is there to get her name out there and build her brand shilling something or going on talk shows or something. I have to believe if you go on this show, you have watched this show. She has to know about the little talks, etc. and she knows that the stuff she says is going to be aired. She is playing for the cameras. Vanessa- girl you need to work on those facial expressions!

Finally got a chance to watch without recording and still missed some parts. I know there are those that love a love story and cant' wait until his return , but until the new guy's "warts" are revealed, I say Jasper who???!!! Who is playing the Prince that had a date with Eleanor? For me the "who is the hottest," contest stops now, even though Beck was looking good. Very romantic of Robert. He deserves better than what's her name, and I saw real sparks between him and what's her name? the one that was interviewing him about his likes and dislikes. She is much prettier anyway. Don't know if Robert really lost on purpose, but I did not need the montage with Liam getting back up with the girl as the inspiration. Why didn't she just tell him she was there waiting for his brother? He certainly put Liam down pretty easily later. Does he even know why Liam is so mad at him? Have they talked about it? It is jarring to hear him keep asking Liam if he is ok and telling him that he loves him when he was the one thought dead and lost on an island or whatever for months. Who is asking after his welfare? Is Helena's assistant going to go crazy or was that just real jealousy? Why was Eleanor dressed as a dominatrix ? I just can't with her. One minute she has on a dress that looks like something from Alice and Wonderland, and the next all she needs is a whip. Saw the bodyguard thing coming a mile away, as well as the Cyrus set up with Saffron. William Moseley is obviously in good shape, but there is something strange about his body shape or his head or something. I can't put my finger on it. I find nothing attractive about him. Don't the "ladies in waiting" give Eleanor any advice? We all know it is a no no to go to be in a full face of makeup. Don't discount the idea of Liam/Cyrus alliance. How many episodes are in a season? I feel like nothing has really happened. -
Why did I think that Abbie was left the house by her mentor who died in the first episode?
-
I saw a clip of the Nick and Corrine show. I am sorry for those of you who sat through that drama! I agree with the above posters that asked about a speech impediment. I can't understand a thing he says and tilting the head! There was a clip of a BOUNCE HOUSE and Nick calling out her name like she was two. I'm sorry, but he reminds me of a creepy porn producer. I can't put my finger on it. Hopefully I can catch next week, but tennis is on for another week. I also agree that Vanessa is really pretty.

S03.E06: More Than Kin, and Less Than Kind
catrice2 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Royals (2015) [V]
Yeah, but I fear this show is geared towards younger and they probably read those type of publications for a "feel" of the audience. Since he came in late, I can see them thinking Robert is more expendable than Liam or Eleanor based on fan reaction, neither of which I would cry if they go. Now if Cyrus left that would be another thing. Yes, Robert and Helena need to be moved on from the twins. When will the Privy Council happen? I don't know his name, but the guy with the little girl that used to look out for Eleanor....he needs some type of story. Surely I would find it more interesting than the twins. Surely Helena sees what is going on with her sons. You would think she would try to intervene in some way. I'm sorry, I can't take Eleanor seriously in those clothes looking 10 years older than Helena, and I hate the scenes where they show how she acts with "hurt" feelings. Was it ever shown that the twins were close to the father? Was he alive in the first season? I am so not interested in either Liam or Robert pursuing Kate. They need to bring on someone more dynamic for Robert. Are we sure that Kate's sister has not somehow clued Robert in? I feel like Liam thinks he was entitled to Kate because he "saw her first." She knew she had spoken to him first, but she chose to show Robert around ( or whatever he asked her for) and then date him instead of Liam, just as she chose to tell him they should not see each other in this episode. So why is he shifting that to his brother? The only comment Eleanor has ever made that I liked is when she commented about her sleeping with both of her brothers, and Liam defending her. Surely he has know that is trashy, regardless of the circumstances? I don't get the Jasper drop dead good looks....he is mildly average. I do think the actor that plays Beck is cute. Do you think Liam will start to scheme with Cyrus in an effort to get back at Robert? I agree with someone, loved Robert's line about chess and about not apologizing for being alive. Liam is saying that he is glad he is back, but acting as if he wishes he were dead. -
Well, the episode I saw last week pretty much confirmed that because otherwise why else would she get so much screen time? . As for Rachel, then that is unfortunate because if she makes the final few or is considered for the Bachelorette there will be those that say that he was told to pay attention to her by the producers, same as Corrinne, and he was never interested in her.
-
Thanks for the recap. Do they show this on reruns? Tennis is on, and I forgot about the show until 8:54. I got there in time to see Nick lying in what looked like a bounce house with Corrine and everyone talking about it. So, was there a rose ceremony this episode? If so, who went home? From what I gather above Nick and Vanessa went out, she threw up and he kissed her with puke in her mouth. I would like to think there was a break they didn't show and they gave her a chance to freshen up....if not, that is all kinds of gross. Carl Lewis? I haven't heard anything about him in years. I am sorry I missed the Backstreet Boys..

Yes, I did enjoy the intrigue in the scattered episodes I saw in the first and second season. Bad news, I went to some other sites today for recaps and no one likes Robert! Almost every one I read wants him to go. I personally like Robert, I just want them to move him on from the Liam drama. I just wonder what they will do with him if there is a lot of negative response. I think the demographic for this show is very young so they are drawn to the theatrics of Liam and Eleanor. I don't care about the Sparrow, or anything else. Liam is responsible for Liam. It just seems that particularly after the meeting with Kateor whatever her name is, he went out of his way to provoke Robert. Maybe the (I'm sure temporary) breakup of Eleanor and Jasper will prove to move her on to something other than dressing in trashy clothes, smoking and having sex. Does she have a charity? It is so obvious that Liam wants someone else to tell Robert about his relationship with his ex. He already confided in Jasper, what was the point of telling their sister? It is time for Cyrus to stop being drunk and be the scheming drunk Cyrus. I thought Helena decided not sleep with the assistant anymore? Yes, I think Robert probably will lose to Liam, and I wonder how he will react? That was a cheap shot about the gloves, but he had been taking Liam's snark all day. I personally saw nothing wrong with the toast. -

Well, hopefully I can DVR the later showing and see what I missed. I guess I didn't get the undercurrent of Robert saying "family gym." He let Jasper know he is watching him, but insinuated that he was leaving it up to Eleanor. Why did Liam get angry about Robert having him keep the gloves? It just seems as if he misdirects his anger and does not know how to control himself. Maybe Robert was affected by all the little passive aggressive statements and decided to react? After all, he has just had a traumatic experience, who wants to come home and trade barbs with the people who are supposed to love you? I guess since I missed part of the show it seemed to me as if it came out of nowhere. One minute Liam was saying he didn't want to hurt him by his finding out and the next he was at his throat. Why is he mad at Robert because she rejected him? Also, did I miss some kinkiness in the season episodes I did not see? Liam defends Jasper as if he is the one having a relationship with him. Did Jasper save his life or something? Just for the sake of appearances he shouldn't be in the "family gym," or anything to keep gossip and dissention down among the staff. I did see the part where Robert indicated that Sparrow was the name given to Liam by MI6....that only made me dislike him more. I thought it had been said that Robert gave him the name to needle him, but if MI6 gave it to him, why does it bother him so much? Can't he ask them to change it? I guess I am not emotional. I was rather bored by Jasper and Eleanor. Common sense would say that a con man cannot be in the castle and they be so open about their relationship without some type of media interest. Did Robert put her up to it? Probably, but he would not necessarily have to . Beck or anyone could have put her on to it as open as they have been. Yes, I agree, Robert will lose the fight, but I wonder what the loss will lead to? Will he go after Liam? Will Liam become more confident if he beats him? Will fighting with Liam take Robert's attention away from his fight with Cyrus? They need to give Helena something to do. -

Severe storm knocked out my Directv. I am hoping someone will be kind enough to update me. I saw most of it, but it was spotty. I was totally knocked out right after the outburst about the speech at dinner. Once again, Liam is so childish.
