S20.E11: The Finale / S20.E12: After The Final Rose
catrice2 replied to OnceSane's topic in The Bachelor
I am disappointed that we will not get a chance to learn Cailia's hair secrets. I have never watched the Bachelorette. Again, I am interested to see how diverse JoJo's pool will be and how often they will refer to her Persian heritage. How long are they in the media? As I've said before, the show has become so mainstream that they report on it in everything. Unfortunately many Bachelor/Bachelorette's or contestants have come from my area, so they always give "updates" on them on the morning news. Wow, do they really get paid to sell thing and advertise on social media? Even the ones that did not make it far? It is amazing to me how much people will follow others just because they were on a reality show. I realized that they did personal appearances in bars, but I guess you could make a career out of being a reject. I got a link to some article where they asked both Ben and Lauren something and basically she said he should answer the question for both of them, or whatever he said, or something to that effect. I agree with whomever said she seems like the type that will go along with whatever he wants and says and there is nothing wrong with that if it works for them. I just didn't see a lot of depth there, but then again I didn't get to see most of the girls backstories to get invested in them. -

Of course, nothing less than a special for the "best bachelor ever." She already told him she did not put up with being shamed on television with the whole "I love two people," to get anything less than that, and 1/2 of his paychecks for Dancing with the Stars, etc. Ben would leave her in a minute if one of these celebrity Bachelor watchers paid him any attention. Lauren B. always seemed to me like she was playing the long con game, and I'll bet she milks every bit of attention she can out of this whole process. Something always struck me as false in the two episodes I saw her....and she looks old. Let's face it, she lost me with the hair. Next we will see them in a reality show going to Bible study or a couples support group with the other Christian Bachelor. By the way, did Ben pray or talk to his pastor when he was trying to "find the answer?" -

That is exactly what I read in his blogs, validating and justifying his feelings, while trying to make the women look a certain way, and paint himself as the good guy, "just trying to do the best I can. " -

Sorry, I can't buy that she was so in love with Ben, but wants to be the Bachelorette just a few months later. I can't blame her, free trips and men fawning all over you...and the PUBLICITY! Yeah I got the call. I was watching Supergirl and Major Crimes, but I hear Lauren fixed her hair for the show...at least that's something. Anymore than I can believe you are in love with two people, but suddenly you know which one is THE ONE, enough to propose. -
No, I mean get married on the show tonight, not a separate special where they get married.
-
I can't compare him to previous Bachelor's and I don't know about the women before either. This group seemed really young to me, but I also thought he was very young. In other adverts I did think at some point they used to go for more exciting occupations, actors, doctors, pilots, etc. I did observe that I remember a lawyer and dentist, mathematician and I don't know what else, but Ben did not seem to go for any of the girls that had those type of occupations. I always got the impression from the blogs I read that he wanted a certain type of woman. I think there would have been a different dynamic if the bachelor had been older but given the same group of women. I really think Ben wanted someone traditional, somewhat submissive and not more successful than him. I liked him in the episodes I saw, except for keeping Lace and Olivia, but his blog and one Bachelor live was disappointing to me. I feel like they are pushing to have Ben and his choice get married live. Have they ever done that before? Will tomorrow be the night that they announce Calia as the Bachelorette? Do they get to go on trips on that show as well, and does the women have the Fantasy Suite? I was disappointed to hear that so many of the women seemed to be so worried about Bens feelings on the Women Tell All. As long as Ben is happy...really?

I believe someone posted here that Jubilee is doing something medically related. I don't know if that is what her job was in the military or not, but I think that is what she is going to school for. Obsessed friend said social media is all over Amber and Jami. I never said they did not have the right to be offended, I just don't think that conversation was best held in that forum. I also am not sure that the three of them ever had an honest conversation that may have cleared up some things. I always say I am going to go back and watch episodes on ABC, but I am not sure that I want to see women tearing each other down the way that has been described here, with Amber and Jami and Jubilee or the rat pack after Olivia. People who know me know that I don't put up with the racial comments, one way or the other. My black friends will tell you that I will call them out and my other friends will tell you I will call them out too, even when it makes people uncomfortable. I also count on them to address me when I may say something that may be offensive or not well thought out. I think we all have to be accountable for our words, thoughts and lack of education about others. I try really hard to learn a lot about different people and cultures and not let that be what determines what I think about people or how I feel. My dad told me once that "everyone who looks like you is not for you," and I think Jubilee found that out last night. It is unrealistic to think that many women living together in a house would all love each other and have the same views. I know it is wrong, but because of the racial history of this show, it is disappointing to me that the three of them chose to handle the situation the way they did,and to do it in such a public way. They could have found a better way to air this dirty laundry, and the other girls were sitting around uncomfortable and some secretly loving that "they" could not get along. I am not defending Jubilee because you should always be aware of your surroundings, but in the military they do toss around a lot of different language, and she had to realize she was not in the barracks. I also am not a very sensitive person and I personally believe we are a point in society where somebody is always going to be offended by something. Amber and Jami should have felt sorry that Jubilee was not enlightened enough to be able to understand, but I suspect that just like she has baggage from her past, they also have to own that they clearly have some baggage about not feeling "enough" that had nothing to do with Jubilee. Jami and Jubilee I can write off as young, but Amber is just too old for this. No one (and I say this for all the girls) can make you feel "less than," if you are not already feeling it somewhere in yourself. Only you can control how you react to a situation. There were clearly racial issues going on in that house, and the Bachelor is never going to address the crux of the matter. I respect all levels of diversity, but I am curious that since Calia is now the diverse representative of this franchise, will they cast equally diverse prospective suitors? I didn't see much of her in the few episodes I watched, but from what everyone has posted I honestly don't see her as someone that is going to be open to dating a variety of different types of men,and when I say that I mean occupations as well as backgrounds and ethnicity.
-
So, do they not invite all of the women to come back, or do some of them just choose not to?
-
My choice of the word simple was as fortunate as Jubilee and the show's choice of "complex." I think, however, you got my point. In no way do I think that everyone has to have a sob story to have layers, and I fully acknowledged that I think she took that label on a little too much. In the end, the women have to accept the interpretations of what they put out there on national television and as Jubilee said, "roll with the punches." For some they end up with way more opportunities than they would have gotten without the show, so for some it is worth it. I never got an answer about whether or not whomever had issues with Jubilee tried to talk to her about them privately, especially before this show, or what the women said when they were asked about talking behind her back? I don't like it when people make racial comments, but I have no problem with telling them that if they are going to do that, they don't need to do it around me, first or second time it happens I shut it down. It should be noted that people from this franchise have taken their own lives. I don't follow it, nor did I follow those stories, but I can only imagine the comments, etc. that they may receive via social media, or just going out in their community. For those reasons, I do think it is important to understand that in spite of their actions, Amber, Jami, Jubilee, Olivia, the twins and whomever was caught lying are human, and humans make mistakes. We are watching for entertainment. It is unfair to judge people in their entirety on small scenes shown on a television show. I hope they are all able to move beyond whatever unfortunate episodes occurred.

Yes, my friend called and from what I gather Ben did apologize to some degree. I think it was his People blog I was most upset about. I did not see the episode, but he did make it sound in his blog that she was just too difficult and that he had gone above and BEYOND to try to get through to her. If she pointed out that he did not give her the same effort and it was just as easy to say, "I wasn't that in to her," then kudos to her, because that is all that needed to happen. His "blogs" always trying to justify his contradictory behavior is what made me start to doubt his sincerity. Once I found out the backstory on Ben and the previous season he was on, I realized that regardless of what he says, Ben is here for the adoration, like so many before him. He totally bought into that "better than other Bachelors," etc. and went out of his way to make the women look like they were lacking or had done something wrong in his blogs. I hope this brings closure to her and any other woman that needed it. I hope Jami and Amber are able to get over whatever issues they had and that everyone can accept that Olivia is not the devil and move on. It is a reality tv show.

When you are fully resolved and comfortable with yourself, nothing anyone else can say can make you feel different or insecure...and I say that for all three of them, Amber, Jami and Jubilee. Everyone has some insecurities..about their looks, etc. No, according to a poster previously according to Jami, she is not fully black, and I'm sure according to their birth certificates and family tree. It is so much more than what can be explained in a show like the Bachelor. What affected Jubilee, Amber and Jami is the ugly history of this country where people are treated differently based upon the color of their skin, and I don't just mean being black, but how black you are. We are a country that has used the "paper bag" test, had people pass for white and deny their heritage. The Bachelor is notorious for casting "black" women who are mixed race and in their opinion will not be as "offensive" or more acceptable either to the audience or to the Bachelor himself. Besides, it was clear that Ben had no interest in Jami, nor Amber (as Chris before him) so they were going no where. I suspect that is what bothered them more than anything else. What was not clear to me in these post is whether or not they tried to talk to her about it, and I said talk, not confront, prior to the show? So I take it that those who are so offended by what she said to Jami and Amber and also just as offended by the comments about Olivia behind her back, and the comments the girls made about Jubilee's date?
-
Without knowing the entire context of what was stated, I agree with this. Jubilee may have been reacting to feeling like the "darker skinned," black person and not realized that whatever comments she was making was playing into their possible insecurities based upon what you stated above. I also speculate that the other girls in the house treated them differently and Jubilee may have attributed that to the fact that she was "darker skinned," or more "fully black," when it was really probably just because they felt more threatened by her than they did Amber and Jami. I have personally observed situations where Caucasian people are more comfortable with mixed race people than people they perceive as "black," but I would say that I have also observed that with people who are part Caucasian and part Hispanic Whatever it was about, I don't think it needed to be discussed at this taping. This is kind of painful for me because a really good friend of mine once asked me when I was trying to get pregnant how I would view my kids. She even quesitoned if I really wanted to have them because she felt that all "mixed kids have identity issues."
-
So from what I gather, everyone attacked Olivia, but no one apologized for what they said about her. Amber and Jami said something to Jubilee and she was mean to them, either at the taping or in the house? I saw a clip a couple of days ago where Jubilee says something about being shocked about what she saw about her date an the Russian woman responding...don't know how that played out? Jubilee said something to Ben, Leah was called out or called somebody out,and Lace is still crazy but pretending she is reformed and any progress she made will be undone on BIP? I'm sure that there was some racial issues going on in that house, that was clear from the episode I saw with Jubilee's date, and unfortunately it seemed more on the part of Amber. I don't think it should be so, but in this country there has always been an issue with "part black, etc." In that house, I am quite sure that Jubilee was feeling different because she was darker skinned. I have no interest in Amber or Jami's background, so I don't know what they may or may not have faced. It could be they all have a lot in common and maybe they all assumed too much about each other. I also disagree..everyone is not "complex," and I don't mean that in an ugly way. I have met some of the most "simple" people ever..who have had lives full of privilege and from their own admission have not faced a lot of adversity in their lives. Some have not had privileged lives, but they are uncomplicated people. I am hard to get to know and have an odd sense of humor. I know it is work to get to know me as a friend and as a romantic interest. I dont' want pity for it, it is just a fact. My best friend, on the other hand is instantly likeable. She always knows the right things to say and has lead a fairly stress free life. So no, everyone is not complex and to admit that you are does not make you weak, pitiful, arrogant, etc. Sometimes you have to acknowledge that you are different, but the best thing about that is that there are plenty of people out there that like different, complicated, complex, etc., but you just have to find the right one. Complex is the label the show gave Jubilee and unfortunately she has adopted it in her speak. She is no more complicated than Olivia or Caila or someone who worships chickens. She just mistakenly let her insecurities show on national television. She could be the worst person in the world for all I know. I don't think many of the women on this show came off looking great in the episodes that I saw.
-
Can't wait to watch it on ABC or read more comments. I didn't like Amber or Jami when they were on, mostly because I don't care what your background is, you don't come on national television to compete against other women with hair like that!!!! Sounds like some really stupid conversations were held tonight, and I knew the twins would be annoying. People either liked Jubilee or they didn't, and whatever was said tonight will only solidify whichever side you were on. Every contestant is not going to be likeable an everyone is going to have their favorites. From the episodes I saw I thought she was a lot more real than many..especially wearing the zit cream. This show just has a way of making people seem like characters and it is hard to separate the real person from the edited footage. Amber is just a two time loser who is riding this train for as long as she can. I'm sure they cut out a lot of other good stuff just to highlight that black women can't get along...thus justifying why they have so few on here. Amber seemed too old for her behavior, and Jamie just came off as really young, as did many of the girls, especially the twins. Is Caila the Bachelorette? Someone said they would announce that tonight.
-
I didn't watch, was waiting for your comments, but if that didn't happen I agree. I don't like the things I saw Oliva do, but I thought a lot of the comments directed towards her and said about her behind her back were petty and childish. No one deserves that, not ever and especially not as grown women.
-
Can't wait to read the comments from the show tonight.

From what you guys say here I am not sure what happened in the Fantasy Suites, but it would be difficult for me to get engaged to someone that i knew had just ha very intimate time with two other women. We live in a world of reality tv where people can be convinced that a man can have such deep REAL feelings that he would say I love you to both within hours of each other, but then want to commit totally and without reservation to one a few hours later. Whomever the "winner" is, I would side eye him from now on! What should I expect if I try to watch women tell all? Is there a lot of crying usually? I am sure Olivia will be roasted, but that means having to hear from the annoyingly self righteous twins that still live at home.

I think it should be renewed. It is different. I personally like Peggy and Thompson's dynamic a lot more than I do with Sousa. I actually think he dragged down the action a bit. I would like to see the scientist continue to work with Stark. Not sure if they mentioned what he would be doing. I thought the mobster's love for Whitney was endearing and a shame that she ended up so crazy that she could not appreciate it. Did they explain fully how he and Stark knew each other? This is certainly not the worst thing on television! I am hoping it is renewed and Thompson is not dead. I'd hate to see a whole season of trying to figure out who killed him. Maybe the actor did not want to return?

Yes, they are guilty, but I feel sympathetic towards Jessica. Jessica was not complicit in hiring Mike. Once she found out, yes she had a choice, however, I can see her being afraid. As a minority woman who had grabbed power and status (and dealt with Daniel) it was fear (and love for Harvey) that made her make a bad choice. She was afraid of losing everything and being ridiculed by her peers. Louis, on the other hand, used the situation to his advantage. He could have taken the high road and told, but he didn't, and even ended up doing something questionable himself. Harvey and Mike, with sidekick Donna, are the ones that are really responsible for this whole mess. It is disappointing the way the writers wrote themselves into corners and made the characters unlikeable. Had they stuck to the case of the week where Mike was fighting for the underdog, or even figured out a way to make him successful as the investment banker it would have been better. At this point I don't see any way that the legal community would continue to have respect for any lawyer at Pearson Hardmen or whatever it is called these days. The only way out of this mess is for Mike to still be a bike messenger and the past few seasons were a result of his hitting his head and being in a coma and dreaming about being a part of the firm he had always delivered papers too...with secret admiration for Harvey and a crush on Rachel. Unfortunately even the fashion has gone downward this season...what a pity!
-
Oh gosh, I used to love this show How did we get here? The clothes are bad, they don't know what to do with Gretchen...what happens to the guy that lied about Mike being at Harvard? So much wrong here. It would be impossible to believe Jessica could salvage her firm.....ok...can Mike wake up in the shower like Dallas?

I'm sorry, I was in love with TWOP. Now I actually have to watch tv! I would spend hours reading about shows I didn't want to watch. My friend and I are still in mourning. Hope Ben and the girls find what they are looking for. I'm sorry, I was in love with TWOP. Now I actually have to watch tv! I would spend hours reading about shows I didn't want to watch. I was bored with Earth 2, and last night was not any better. I had a hard time with King Shark and only watched for Diggle. Wally was annoying, as was Barry, and you would think that they would learn about telling things they should not. Even still, the lack of reaction from what they were told about their Earth 2 counterparts was disappointing. If there are really only 8 episodes left I am hoping they can salvage this season. The Zoom reveal was also underwhelming.
-
Is it a requirement that the Bachelorette come from this season? I heard about some other spin offs, when do those come on? Do they come on at the same time of the Bachelorette? When do they announce the Bachelorette? My friend says there is a show where they all get together? Does this happen before or after it is revealed whom is chosen? What do they all talk about? I wonder if any of the lies will come up, or if some of the editing will be challenged?
-
Wow. Thanks guys for making me feel like I watched the episodes. I too have been feeling guilty about judging Amanda for leaving her kids...even for one night...to do this show. I've asked before...does she have a job or a career? For some of these girls I can't believe that being on here is anything more than furthering their career..even if that means making appearance at bars, clothing stores, etc. as long as the attention is there. I am sure that for some it has hurt their career, and for others it has helped them. Maybe Amanda has a long term plan....children's barrettes or clothing or something. Although I think you would have to meet the children if you are thinking of a relationship, I just feel those children were too young. Is it required that the show end in an engagement? For example, if the man is interested in a contestant with children, perhaps they could choose her and not get engaged so they would have more time to get to know the children. Yes, if he tucked them in, that was too much. My issue with Amanda is that in the few episodes I watched, I don't think he was that interested in her, so why even do the hometown? My cynical mind (and after reading those carefully designed blogs) is that even if they did not explicitly tell him, Ben knew/knows that being a man willing to take on a single mom wold play well with the audience. I firmly believe that is the only reason she stayed, Olivia for drama, and Jubilee to combat some of the negative attention the show has received on race. All this "real connection" stuff is hilarious...I'm mean two girls stayed for a while and we didn't even know they were there! Hey, I've swigged from a bottle a time or two, as long as it was my bottle. True story, the only reason I did not drink in high school was not because I was a good girl, I hate germs. My mom calls me 'nice nasty." The idea of passing a bottle or any "cigarettes" that someone else had put their mouth on freaked me out. So, kudos JoJo's mom for keeping it real. Was it in response to a comment? By the way, when did the half Persian issue come up? Was it always discussed? If not, I call this as a way to make JoJo the Bachelorette and keep the promise about the "diversity." She or Calia will be cast and the issue of their backgrounds will never be mentioned or discussed again, except for a few comments to make sure they point out that they are being diverse. Sorry, I guess the passion came later, but Ben never seemed any more into Lauren B than anyone else to me. All of the remaining girls, except for Cailia, look so hard and used. Lauren with the unfortunate hair and bland personality, JoJo,, who looks like a barmaid, and Amanda with the squeaky voice and bad hair. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Ben as well as the girls. It is going to be hard to sell the last contestant (I cannot say winner) as the love of his life if he was just telling someone else he loved them. I wouldn't want to be either of the final two...the others had a lucky escape.
-
I"m not sure...I think I heard Iris ask if her dad was still alive in the other world, but did anyone ever ask if Iris and Barry were together on Earth 1?
