  1. Renewed for Season 3! https://deadline.com/2022/07/resident-alien-renewed-season-3-syfy-1235073596/ Deadline says they are hearing 12 episodes for Season 3
  2. https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/norman-lear-maude-abortion-live-in-front-of-a-studio-audience-episode-1235320632/
  3. In the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine, composer Segun Akinola and producer Nikki Wilson have both indicated they are leaving the show and that the Centenary special will be their last episode
  4. Yeah, funny that the Freemans are preaching anarchy and freedom, but are the ones in charge of the Acapulco stuff, are very rich and control the conferences and don't let other people steal their thunder.
  5. The second episode was interesting, with a team trying to go down a very long river in Ecuador and failing, with that poor guy nearly chopping off a finger and having another machete accident that was near fatal later when he returned to the river to try to navigate it (but failing again)
  6. Some thoughts as I watch the second episode: The guy who cited Jesus as an anarchist and also wanted to make sure he had a lot of money seems to forget Jesus lived simply. These anarchists certainly seemed to have a lust for money given how much they scorned everything about regular regulated society. And cryptocurrency? Ok dudes These folks used social media, which is funny since they scorned much of modern society Lily and John Forester realizing that the cryptocurrency stuff was starting to take over the movement in unwanted ways was interesting foresight and hindsight. But they were against the organization being run top down (especially by the Freemans) instead of more free and experimental, which makes it kind of hard to remain cohesive as a group Bunch of dolts all around
  7. Oops. Dang you’re right. I misread it
  8. This press release on The Futon Critic says the season finale is August 3 http://thefutoncritic.com/listings/20220714fox06/
  9. Brook plays Portia, Trina's mom; she's referring to the racism discussion about Trina facing the courts
  10. Episode 1 was quite interesting. Some really great views and a great display of the power of nature, plus it highlighted the issues with climate change. I did some hiking when I was younger but nothing even close to this; their trek looked extremely hard. I think the only issue I had was that the team did the trek just to snowboard and ski down the mountain and that seemed frivolous and very dangerous for just a few minutes of thrills (though it probably was a quicker way to get down)
  11. Given that, it will be interesting to see what happens with Marshall and his diagnosis. They’ve already addressed Marshall being Black with a purported mental illness being arrested by the police decades ago and him feeling shame about his illness. They are now dropping hints that suggest he was misdiagnosed and if they end up doing that, I wonder if they’ll directly address how often people of color are treated worse and misdiagnosed by the medical world. Except for taking way too long to get to the point with Marshall’s story, it’s been an interesting story, once they got to the point of course and they all stopped yelling at each other
  12. I can’t believe anyone completely sides with Liam. He was an obsessive ahole who couldn’t let things go and repeatedly used the tech to go over events to the point of obsession. At the very least, one could say both of them were at fault for various things, but Liam took it too far. He kept obsessing about a man his wife dated years before they were married. Sure she fibbed a bit about the length of the relationship but she didn’t really owe him the full truth for something that was before they got together. And he got what he deserved, being alone without his wife and child
  13. I think the poster was saying it felt more authentic. In regards to the apparent hinting that Marshall was misdiagnosed (or purposely diagnosed wrong?), I think that’s where things are heading as well. Unfortunately, they’ll probably take forever to get there like so many other storylines
  14. Season 2 premieres with 2 episodes on Monday, August 22 on both AMC and streaming service AMC+. Subsequent releases on AMC+ will be 1 week ahead of AMC (like last season I think) http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2022/07/15/summer-streaming-sizzles-with-the-debut-of-tales-of-the-walking-dead-season-finale-of-amcplus-original-series-moonhaven-return-of-critically-acclaimed-kevin-can-fk-himself-and-the-series-finale-of-the-celebrated-better-call-saul-226215/20220715amc01/
  15. I think in the end, people like this just want to make their own rules to live by and not a larger society that they don't agree with. Libertarian types just want to take care of themselves with what they can pay for and to heck with anyone else who can't afford private police and fire protection
  16. What folks like these never seem to realize is that freedom is never completely free. If they lived completely alone in the wilderness providing only for themselves, they don't have to live with any rules. Starting getting a crowd, then some rules are needed or you have chaos
  17. Pretty interesting first episode. I think freedom movements, including anarchy and libertarianism, only work well in small groups. So if these folks want their freedom from paying taxes, rejecting consensus, and thinking only of themselves, among other things, let them go find a place that allows them to live how they like, as long as they aren’t committing violence. Acapulco certainly seemed like a bad choice given the violent drug cartels nearby As for the unschooling concept, I think it probably works well for some kids, but I think most need some kind of structure to make sure they learn the important stuff

    The Green Planet

2 episodes in and loving it so far
  19. I was rather impressed with Olivia standing up to Drew and supporting Ned in regards to Ned voting with Valentine. We know she raked Ned over the coals in private about it, but she’s supporting him in public, however imperfectly
  20. An article about the finale suggested it’s not in any real danger of cancelation, but you never know
  21. It actually took me a couple of minutes to realize Jeannie was acting as a Distractor. I initially thought she was simply doing a performance in place of Miss Piggy I also loved Rob and Joe's very excited reactions to each of Kathy's holes-in-one
