I remember in tax law, my professor said the people who get caught with the highest percentage of fraud cases are 1) attorneys and 2) family owned business where the only employees are other family members. You can do all kinds of fun things with your taxes with enough creativity and want. That’s what I’ve always assumed was the reason all JB’s kids and in laws semi worked for him. I hope John David stays at his own house/appt or somewhere else that JB isn’t in charge of.

Romona...when did she become boring? Tinsely is seeming like Luann in the last seasons. I get she loves Scott but they clearly aren’t in the same place and she’s gonna waste way too much time on this relationship that isn’t going anywhere. She wants to get married and have babies two years ago. She needs to find someone who wants the same. Carole is just a mess. Like who told her to use buzzwords bullying” and “ageism”. Both of those things exist and are horrible to the victims...being in a semi-fight in a reality show isn’t the same thing. She’s just determined that she’s gonna be right and Bethany’s going to be wrong on everything. It’s behind overkill. Dorinda seemed more likeable this episode. She seemed not to tow the company *cough* Carole-line. Sonja looks great but is basically non existent. Bethany’s protectiveness of Luanne is so bizarre to me but I like it. Her hair is driving me nuts!

Oh totally forgot about Hannie and Si! I don’t remember Josiah being called Si until the last few seasons. I thought JessaBlessa was a nickname she gave herself (haha)

Agreed. This became kind of trend about 10 years ago for 2nd marriages. They’d get married with their super close friends and family present (maybe 20 people max) then have a larger party/reception either later that date or when they returned from their honeymoon. Ive only seen one wedding where 200+ people were invited to the ceremony and only about 50 to the reception. Heck, two women I know threw a shower for the couple and weren’t invited. About 50 more people that weren’t invited to the reception showed up there, assuming they were invited. Lots of people were upset and/embarrassed. If you want to invite 372837 people to the ceremony then do cake and punch in the reception hall ala Duggar style...except the parking lot in November is just unacceptable

I think Michelle is super in the moment always. She is present for whoever is in her face. It’s how a teacher most of the time has to handle their class...it’s how a mom with that many kids how to divvy up her time. The emergency or the Birthday gets the attention, day to day stuff, well that’s what the sister moms were there for. So I would assume even now, unless you are in front of the cameras or in front of her, Jinger doesn’t get a ton of mom alone time.

I cannot imagine Derrick having a lot of friends or people he’s feels comfortable with in class I went to a Baptist law school (well the undergrad was, the law school was basically a bunch sinners! We had 120 in our class including Jewish people, atheists, divorced classmates, black kids, Asian kids, and *gasp* 2 gay guys and a lesbian. We also had an amateur porn star who did admittedly get kicked out before orientation finished but that was because she was watching her film in class, on her laptop, with 3 rows of students behind her ..sigh... Even the most conservative classmates who went to Bob Jones and Liberty undergrad, were 100% loving and accepting of everyone. There was no judgment, heck one of those guys became an ordained preached and married one of our gay classmates :). Derrick thinks he has some platform now. He is being called to preach...me thinks it won’t go so well....Plus that first year was hard as hell and I was single, lived about 2/10ths of a mile from the school, and had no distractions like a spouse, kids, a twitter account to maintain and preach from...

They thought they were gonna sleep in a tepee? She’s 7+ months pregnant? That seems really uncomfortable. Then add to it how cold it clearly was and Joy can’t wear pants? Then we add a boat to this mess... I do not believe pregnant women are invalids but i would have never gotten in a boat like that when I was that pregnant much less in the middle of winter. This whole trip was ridiculous, I assume their midwife Jill approved this as a healthy activity!

JB is worth millions. He has a tv show, provides his kids a home and a place to work (or their spouse) when they get married, there are book deals, speaking engagements, and people magazine exclusives! A lot of fundies believe once someone asks for forgiveness it’s done. It’s the devil that caused those impure thoughts! Josh isn’t to blame for being a pedophile or an adulterer...nope it’s the devil! So, in that same vein, JB & Michelle aren’t responsible for the molestation or letting Josh get away with it. See, they are good people fighting the devil! So I think a lot of fundies see the Duggars as one of the only Christian reality shows on the air and seem them as a banner! Hence why all the preachers want their kids to hook up with one of the kids.

Despite Joe’s food issues, I thought he and Kendra came off as very nice people who aren’t afraid of the rest of the world or afraid of trying new stuff! They seemed to like it! Plus Joe’s dig at B/J putting their relationship and each other first and being happy...hilarious! Ben actually came across as knowing stuff, even just knowing the smallest amount of non Christian education surprises me. The Duggars came across as uneducated...shocking... Austin came across as young, naive, and stuck in this weird world. Joy seems to be always trying to show how happy she is. Maybe I’m just reading too much into it Spurg and Henry are still adorable

My grandmother married a military man during the Korean War when he was stationed in the airbase near her house. 4 years later (and 4 kids later, thanks to twins...one more would come along) he got the calling to be a preacher. She admits even now she would have never married him if she knew was going to be a preacher. She was an wonderful preachers wife (sweet, considerate, awesome soprano, well educated for a woman born in the 30s, sports lover, great cook)... but she told my grandpa when his sermon needed more work or when she felt he was going down the wrong path with something. He did the same for her. Fundies don’t seem to get that you can be partners, best friends, have each other’s backs & still not always agree. These fragile men can’t take one second of not being adored and worshipped themselves

Oh Priscilla...she seems to have some sort of speech impediment + homeschooled with someone uneducated + not very smart..... Anna and their father have always seemed more articulate but heck even Jana and Jinger often struggle with sentence structure when being interviewed. Nasty Smuggar & JD are the only kids I’ve never really seen struggle. They may have but I just don’t recall.

OfSmuggar is possibly the very best snark name of anybody ever! I would guess Meredith and Anna have a very special bond as Anna basically had Josh’s pedophile behavior come out while pregnant (I never brought that Anna knew about the previous stuff) and Josh is paying to have sex with women online when Mere was an infant....Jana was probably taking care of the older three while Anna was breastfeeding

JB and M clearly benefited from years of togetherness and being alone. They were able to have a normal dating relationship.... Now they don’t let their kids be alone with their spouse til their wedding night and are encouraged to immediately get pregnant. 3 weeks after I got pregnant, I was taking a 2 hour nap at night when I got home and literally would wake up, eat, and go back to sleep. I can’t imagine how unfun doing that on your honeymoon is! As for who drove the baby train...Michelle IMO. I think they do have a sincerely held belief that the miscarriage was caused by birth control and was a warning or punishment from God. But I think JB adores Michelle and Michelle adores attention
