  1. I think other people have probably covered it but can't find actual posts about it. Federal court is either: release or not release. THERE IS TYPICALLY NOT BAIL OR BOND. State court is where bonds come in. 3rd party custody is fairly regular with electronic monitoring. From what I've read the case is basically a slam dunk (welcome to federal court). Assuming that the search warrant is held as valid, he's going to prison for a VERY LONG TIME. It will take a while for the AUSA to see if they can get up with the attorney for the children they are able to identify (lawyers represent the SA victims to get restitution).
  2. As a total (but maybe not really) side note. I was 99% sure Anna was going to name her kid Magnolia (and call her Maggie) which I know others think too because of her love of Chip & Joanna. Now I'm sure its going to be Mercy (for what Josh should be given) or Mia (as in Josh will be M.I.A since he's going to prison).
  3. I agree. He has spent 30 years living this life and KNOWING he was right. All of his children have rejected his lifestyle. This may not be so terrible if there were 2-3 of them but he's got a football team and still... He keeps losing money & its basically all his fault due to very stupid financial decisions time and time again. He has 2 of his 4 wives openly admit they are miserable. Janelle supports the 1 house thing but other than that, she's clearly making her own decisions and living her own life. He's supposed to be the head of the household and yet, he is making no decisions and nobody listens to him. Everything he's known about himself and his family has been a lie, lost or was something that only existed because the kids were young. He's also always been immature. All those kids and wives and responsibilities but he pouts or gets angry anytime he doesn't get his way. He becomes spiteful when one of his kids disagrees with him, he shuts out people who with whom he feels betrayed him for years. He gets a gut feeling about things and no matter who utterly stupid, negative, or risky they are...when he gets his mind to it, he's going to do it.
  4. Imagine being a normal/human person and finding out your child has images of a child being sexually assaulted on his computer/phone. Then imagine realizing you've spent 15 years covering for him, excusing his behavior, knowing that 2 of your daughters were sexually assaulted because you did NOTHING after 2 of your other daughters were sexually assaulted. Now, he's helping fund and provide a market for babies to be sexually assaulted. But knowing them, they are on the phone with TLC trying to figure out how they can keep working.
  5. Abbie & Kendra have always come across as sweet and genuine people. Abbie certainty is older, matured, and has had more real life experiences but I assume both of them are HORRIFIED. They did not grow up in the brainwashed family where Josh isn't insta forgiven because the devil made him do it and he asked for forgiveness. I also can't imagine Joe and John David being anything but sick to their stomachs over all of this.
  6. I believe the Dillards have been fairly vocal that Jim Bob and Michelle get all the money from the Counting On show as well and then divide the money up. They said a few years ago that the contracts at least back when they were on the show was between TLC, production company, and Jim Bob.
  7. YES! Well maybe not 2 years but 1+ years yes. I used to prosecute sex cases (some of which went federal). Federal prosecutors have a very limited window with which they have to be ready to try the case. Most state courts don't have the same limits so when a federal case is indicted, it is done so because the AUSA is READY TO GO. For embezzlement cases I've seen it take 2-3 years. Child pornography cases require very skilled and specific experts to chart and prove how an image(s) came to be on a specific computer.
  8. Federal juries are INSANE compared to state. Basically first 12 in the box. Add a few alternatives and most federal judges ask 10-15 questions and that is it. State court has the never ending jury questions, etc. Feds don't play.
  9. I am STUNNED! Okay not really. I wonder if we will get a reaction video with the same vague mess as before. Jana: We had just got over the first thing and the second thing but he was living another different life. Josiah: Well we had just gotten over the 12th bad thing he did when all of a sudden out of no where this 13th thing came up. Joy: We had no way to know about this new bad thing. Jinger *cries* John: I had to tell Josh again that I didn't want to be like him and Jill: I knew. Derrick: Suck it, molester. Anna: I would leave him but I didn't want to turn on my my big old molesting, cheating, soon to be felon husband & turn my marriage mess into a disaster. God: It already is. Its okay to get divorced. Leave him. John: I just pushed play on the recording I made saying "I don't want to be like you". I got tired of telling him that so I just recorded it and play it about once a week.
  10. This episode the first 90 minutes a (not 100% accurate recap): Kody: I hate that I can't just live with Robyn. Janelle: Since the pandemic started, I've re-watched all the old episodes. I have determined we suck at communication. Robyn: I am going to not so subtly suggest my sister wives may be at a higher risk for Covid because of their weight without saying it. Meri: Thank God that I'm not the reason nobody is happy. ***** Christine: Lets make the worst financial decision possible and move back to Utah. Kody: This could get us another season....hmmm....I like this super stupid decision. Yes! ***** Christine: Ysabel needs surgery now. Kody: HOW DARE MY DAUGHTER'S SURGERY NOT BE ABOUT ME. Christine: Screw you. Kody: Hey, Aspen no Truly no whoever you are, listen who gives an ish if you are in pain? You are like 16 by now, probably. Go across the country by yourself and have major surgery. Christine (on the phone): Hey Meri, question can I have the number of the catfish lady so I can make Kody never come to my house again? Ysabel: I hate you. ****** Janelle: Listen, I am headed to NC. Peace out. Kody: I can't leave and go to NC for my granddaughter's surgery because I am not seeing Christine or Meri either Janelle: So...I miss our flow. Kody: We good girl. You my 2nd favorite wife. We gonna rekindle our romance when I get back Janelle: Oh? You planning on cutting your hair? Kody: What? ***** Robyn: Here is our dirt with the drainage hole. This reminds me of our hopes and dreams. Kody: Christine, do you think just because we have no power or water lines to this dirt trap in 2+ years that our houses won't happen? Christine: Well, no one on line thinks we are ever going to build? Kody: Well we also don't have any plans for houses. Janelle: I ain't saying Christine is lying but she ain't telling the truth about her kids being bullied. Robyn: Nope, not moving. Janelle: Your kids live in Utah, that's why you want to go there, but I barely know their names. Kody: Me either. Meri: Utah doesn't deserve me. I am a successful boss babe now. Kody: I am 100% against this even though I didn't say that one on one. Its because I'm the victim in all of this. Janelle: We ain't doing it Christine but I want to pretend like we care by saying "I honor you." This sucks for you. Robyn: Utah is like the viewers of this show, not friendly to me. Kody: That was a terrible pitch. Christine should have asked Meri for tips on how to sell things better. Meri: You can't quit this relationship first when I have planned that for the last season. Look at the mountain. Christine *closes her eyes* you can't make me look. Robyn *glares at the non-friendly COVID hug* *****
  11. The whole 2nd half of the episode was so uncomfortable. Kody saying he had never been cruel...while being cruel was special. I do think the fact that Meri doesn't go see Janelle and Christine or their kids speaks volumes. The wet bar and Mariah being put up on this pedestal always rubbed me wrong as did the B&B mess but...I can't help but feel sorry for her. She's pathetic and lonely and is being punished not just for her 5+ year old sins but seemingly for all of Kody's frustrations.
  12. I was in the hospital over a week before I had my daughter due to me developing a serious medical condition. They kept me on the L&D ward. I became close to many nurses and heard lots of stuff during my 12 days on the ward (but couldn't see anything outside of my room for 12 days). Every time I would hear SCREAMING, every nurse on the floor would come in to "reassure" me. They would say "she's decided to go the natural root" or "despite everyone telling her, she's didn't want the epidural." Many of the nurses said that a lot of these women had weren't doing it for any reason other than to PROVE how strong and awesome mamas they were. This is Maddie to me. Let me moan and scream and keep myself awake for DAYS to truly be miserable to prove how awesome I am. Its one of those crazy fundamentalist/Evangelical things that drives me nuts.
  13. This episode: Meri: I don't even know what a pre-evacuation means....but there is ONE WHOLE helicopter flying over head...PANIC!!!!!!!!! NO JOKES ALLOWED. Christine: I should punch a bitch. Kody: Nobody ever could have predicted this would be a bad financial plan. Robyn: We have to be moved in 3 hours. Pray for a rental. Kody: I cannot believe you 4 womens talked me into moving from Las Vegas. Meri: OMGZ I cannot leave my house during this VERY SCARY PRE-EVACUATION PANIC!!!I have to sell LulaRoe! Robyn: We are so good with money that we have paid for UHauls for days on end to park in the middle of our field because no other wife will let us put our crap at their house. Maddie: For whatever reason I am glad I was in 86 hours of labor. Christine: I don't like any of these people so that's why I didn't pick up Kody until the last second. Janelle: I don't want my night with Kody. Christine: For realz? Okay I'll pretend to be excited about this. Kody: Maddie is having a baby so naturally I'm making it all about me.
  14. Any other NC peeps here? WTH... Maddie lives in Greenville. She clearly picked up Janelle at a bigger airport (my guess is RDU (in Raleigh) which is 90 or so miles away.... Then the birthing center was in Chapel Hill which is only about 20 miles on the other side of Raleigh but in traffic times can be an hour. Her birthing center could be 2 1/2-3 hours driving away from her home. That seems crazy just to have a non hospital birth. There are plenty of good hospitals (there is a teaching hospital in Greenville). Ft. Bragg (the country's largest military base) is a few hours away and they have TONS of midwives/dulas/etc due to the huge military presence there. Lots of them work with the hospitals so there are doctors and nurses nearby who can step in if necessary.
  15. An ONTD thread 8ish years ago said Janelle was close to Aspyn while the kids were still growing up. If I remember correctly it was an a "friend" of theirs from their Utah area. The poster said something like Aspyn was just like Christine but "smart" and Janelle and Janelle was the "our kids need to go to college" parent. It was the first time I hard about: Janelle and Meri being sisters-in-law, Janelle moving out of the house for a while, etc. With that being said, its clear that Christine is close to all of Janelle's kids. Meri seems to have a genuine interest and relationship with Solomon. And for the first few seasons, it seemed like all the adults doted on Truly (between Christine's miscarriage and the original last child it would be natural). OT: The only thing I remember from that ONTD thread that has never come up on the show was something about a traditional field trip that the school system took in middle school to an overnight place. The trip happened every other year. Logan got to go one year, but the next time due to money it was decided that Maddie, Aspyn, and Mariah wouldn't go due to money. Except, Mariah ended up going....
  16. Robyn: OMGZ we have got to move. Don't cry too hard or be too angry! Robyn's kids: So....we eating pizza for dinner? Kody: This is totally not my fault even though I shoved this idea to move here down everyone's throats and made everyone do it at breakneck speed. Robyn; God will provide this rental home. Me: Wait? Its been a whole school year and these fools have nothing to show for it? I see... Janelle: This gender reveal is SOOO not for the cameras even though the couple is 3000 miles away and they've known for over a month the gender already. Robyn: God, forget the hungry and the needy, its time for our rental home. Mariah: I'm woke from 2000 miles away! #lesbian #socialconstruct Meri: Okay lets fake this conversation to pretend like this fight was Kody's fault and not me being the most indecisive person in the whole world. Meri: Got me a rental house so I can move to the B&B soon *COUGH* I mean so we can build the houses. Me: Why are Robyn and Kody having this ADULT conversation in front of the CHILDREN? Janelle/Christine/Meri: We staying out of this ish Kody: So since I'm so great at property values and selling property.....I have a great idea! Robyn: God will provide the rental home...anytime now....just waiting for a few more seconds..... Aurora: *has a panic attack* Robyn: Do you think us fighting in front of our children and acting like we about to be homeless caused this panic attack? Yeah, me neither. Also God will provide a rental Kody *punches a wall*
  17. ^^Agreed. The "story line" this year is basically housing. That is BORING AS HALE & hard to follow. Meri has to move out. Meri is back in LV. Kody spends a month on plans which won't come into fruition. Christine has bought a house. Meri is back in AZ. Robyn has to move. Meri has to move. Everyone argues about the land. But for whatever reason, everyone is showing more of themselves this season. That part is fascinating because the only thing we've ever really seen is a PG version of Meri/Janelle issues. Janelle/Christine bonding and chatting about the fight, the fight of mud whole Canyon, Meri's tree mess, Christine refusing the one home idea, Robyn realizing she gonna be raising her kids semi by herself.
  18. This Week: Meri: That was not the conversation. Janelle: Oh now we care about Meri being mean, passive-aggressive, and her constant victimization? Meri: That was not the conversation Janelle, Christine, & Kody: That was the conversation. Robyn: We are so terrible at being adults, I'm moving again for the 94th time, probably into another 19 bedroom home. Meri: That's not the conservation. Me: So y'all for real been living here for 6+ months and haven't figured out your contractor, plans for the homes, and started anything especially since they can't even build due to weather for like 4-5 months of the year. Christine: I like Janelle! Janelle: I like that Christine raised my kids! Janelle: The water feature caused the fight because everyone wants the mud, run off, and bacteria close to them. Kody: The lawyer says I was right! Since I never get told that, I'm super excited! Robyn: I am married to a complete moron. Janelle: Lets make a park since all of our kids are grown & our grand kids don't come visit! Meri: I've never said what piece of property I wanted despite clearly saying what property I want before. Kody: Can I divorce you during eternity? Meri: How dare everyone get mad at me. I just keep changing my mind when I realize someone else wants what I already disregarded. Christine: Lets start over. Kody is an idiot. Meri: I want to be not deep in the trees, but in the trees, but not too far in the trees but not too far out of the trees. Now I will make a euphemism about shadows from trees and my marriage.
  19. ^^Yeah a lot of evangelicals believe that there are WAY too many wordly influences in public and private schools. They also don't like pesky science and/or being taught anything other than the version of history they like. It also limits children to the outside world for things like: reporting child abuse, having a separate support system, having someone question or make you question your belief system, etc.
  20. Michelle's hair is all I can see, its so dang tragic.
  21. I feel like the whole series is an Easter egg: why all the girls live in one room, why all the boys sleep in jeans at night, why J&B were so anti-touching of any kind between anybody, the infamous side hug even among siblings, no physical contact until marriage, the purity of the heart crap, the reason there is always a chaperone during courting. Then of course, you get sick to your stomach when you hear all of Josh's victims gush about his wedding and engagement to Anna. You see his victims in his wedding, you hear his victims being preached to about how pure and righteous this relationship was, etc. Lawd.....
  22. Almost quotes from this episode: Kody: I want ONE BIG MCMANSION that I can't afford as opposed to four plain houses I can't afford. Janelle: I can't believe its a girl. This is so shocking as there was only a 50% chance it would be a girl. Christine: I hate you all. Kody: Hey hey....Christine you are the whole reason Robyn didn't want to build Hotel Kody. Robyn: So anyways, I got jealous that Meri and Janelle got to move so I'm moving again for attention. Meri: I have 39 rooms and a waterfall, I can host the family function that occurs once every four months. Everyone: ...................... Robyn: We think of Kody like a brother when we are all together. The viewers: ...............................
  23. Mariah's journey has been a long and winding one. She started off as a spoiled, self-righteous polygamist wannabe. Now she's a spoiled, self-righteous lesbian.
  24. His s first and second wife had gone from hating each other to constant mild irritation to ignoring each other for 25+ years. His first wife falls in love with an online persona that she was willing to leave her entire eternal family for a few years ago. Despite having 18 kids, not one of his children have decided to follow his lifestyle. Most of his adult children believe he is immature and makes terrible decisions. He and all(?) of his wives had declared bankruptcy and have no normal and stable jobs. Yet.....the wives not wanting to live like they are in a sorority house has finally done him in & he's questioning his lifestyle. I see.....
  25. Can you imagine your whole life (where the bedroom is, what kind of clothes you can sleep in, how you physically interact with your siblings, how you can date, etc) are done because your brother molested either your or your other siblings. Imagine being 20 years old and married and just now getting to wear actual pajamas or boxers or something normal to bed if you are a boy. The amount of covering and hiding this mess is appalling.
