  1. This show is usually so great about casting, but they missed the boat entirely with Michael Rappaport.
  2. I don't think the Eastern and Central time zones saw any episode of TGW last night due to the NFL league championship game between the Patriots and the Colts. The game ended after 10e/9c, followed by post-game coverage until the 11e/10c news program. You may have seen a rerun in CA because the game ended well before 10 pm your time.
  3. Carrie could have spared Aidan a lot of pain and grief if she had bothered to be that honest with him. Instead, she lied about how much she actually smoked and proceeded to try to conceal this from Aidan while he got more invested in her.
  4. I wrote the above after seeing Nick Offerman in October. I have to conclude that Tammy's meltdown strip-tease in the library is the scene Nick was referring to back then.
  5. Looks like the sexiest adversaries on TV are in for a wild final showdown. Bring it on, Justified!
  6. My PR friend is hosting a special screening of the S3 premiere at a theater this week, and I can't make it. WAAAAAHH!
  7. What's wrong with Hank's haircut, PTV? I know plenty of 50something men who would kill to have half the hair Hank/Ray Romano does. If Sarah doesn't like the cut, I'm sure she can cajole him into changing it. I do find Hank fairly funny, and think he's shown that he can be good with Sarah's family (his talk with Drew, his support toward Amber, bonding with Max and with Joel.) I must not have been paying much attention during the Mr. Cyr episodes, because I don't really get the fascination with him. He looks like a kid, and didn't he want to have children? Which is the last thing Sarah needs more of... Could not believe this decision. So dumb.
  8. Re Ralph Fiennes: here's an interesting take on "Oscar acting" by Richard Brody in The New Yorker: I don't agree with all of the above, but I do agree that brilliant comedic performances are routinely overlooked by awards groups (including SAG). Also, keep in mind that "A Los Angeles Times article from 2012, revealed that Oscar voters were 94% white, 77% male and only 14% under the age of 50."
  9. I haven't seen any of the nominated performances yet, but they're all judgment calls, yes? :-) From the current buzz, your predicted winners all seem virtually locked-in. Best Actor may have the most wiggle room, but unless Keaton pisses people off between now and the voting deadline, it's hard to see the Academy passing up a chance to honor him.
  10. Not sure when it happened, but season 5 is now available for free streaming to Amazon Prime customers.
  11. No offense to George's previous squeezes, but he didn't seem particularly drawn to women of substance in the past.
  12. I would think they could contract for some degree of "creative control," but no idea how that works in practice.
  13. The GGs honor movies and TV -- what else are they gonna give a Lifetime Achievement Award for? ;-) BTW, Clooney is not the youngest to have received the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Judy Garland got it at 39 (yeah, she started out young, but still...) Charlton Heston was 43.
  14. I thought they'd had such a segment in the past, and at one point I wondered if a particular set of presenters might be introducing this year's. But it never showed up, right?
  15. Wasn't Shatner the mute Ollie North? Great episode though. Glad SNL pulled out this one for the vintage series.
  16. When Sarah and Hank first hooked up, they seemed to have a great deal of sexual chemistry. But I've kind of lost the thread of why they're together at this point...
  17. Chris Matthews? LOL Here's what an actual debate of candidates for Chicago State's Attorney looks like. This is from 2008, when Anita Alvarez first won the office she still holds.
  18. Oh my gosh, that was a terrific episode!! Hope this news is for realz!!
  19. As of last night, my Comcast service had listed two episodes of Madam Secretary for this Sunday and no TGW. Has that changed? It seemed odd to have one new week of TGW then no new episode, but the GGs on are at the same time this Sunday...
  20. Ross and Richard both had their own places, and Richard's was much nicer than Monica's. Real life people would arrange not to be using the same apartment on the same nights. Part of the problem with the early seasons is that they tried to portray the characters as realistic in many ways, but would also have them do these stupid sitcom things.
  21. Just saw the news about Rod Taylor. In addition to The Birds, I'll always remember him The Glass Bottom Boat.
  22. With all due respect, my private sector email account very occasionally puts email messages from CLIENTS in my SPAM folder. I can see how someone whose time is stretched would not necessarily check his SPAM folder regularly for such slippaes. Ah, that's where I'd seen him before. Thanks! Apparently, yes, but they're nowhere near as slickly produced as on TGW.
