  1. I don’t understand who the audience is supposed to be for this. It feels like it’s trying to be a family show, but it’s on at 9. I think the winning team also had far easier questions (e.g. 8 track vs credit card machine). If I were on the show, I’d buzz in for every rebound regardless of knowing the answer. Blocking the other team seems to be too strong of a strategy.
  2. I wish the flashbacks focused more on how the kids experienced the past instead of reiterating how awful Smurf was as a person. That horse has been beaten enough. I don’t even think it would require much change, but it feels like if she’s in a scene, she’s the center rather than the kids.
  3. Fingers crossed for more taste-based reward challenges! (And I screwed up quotation on my phone - also rooting for ESO)
  4. Did anybody catch if Shea just used opaque Snag tights as pants?
  5. Wild speculation - Rose got pregnant by Charles's father and that's when she "died." Alice is a descendant and is involved with the reproduction and frame job.
  6. If they're going for a short season, I'd rather see them have no eliminations. They can announce low dancers each week to motivate for the following week, but we'd get to actually see how these folks dance in various styles. I feel like I don't know the vast majority of the dancers, so it'd be nice to actually see them. And maybe that would give them more exposure to benefit their careers?
  7. I don't disagree with your general premise at all - there have definitely been trucks that were mechanically at a disadvantage - but my interpretation was that it wasn't a mechanical issue. The generator worked, but perhaps didn't have enough power for the additional rice cookers? They didn't specify why the rice cookers weren't working with the generator, so I'm guessing.
  8. I don't mind that this is a food business competition that factors in cost, but it does make me sad when folks who likely would be great in their home communities are not able to adapt to new markets. I found Salsa Queen to be quite obnoxious, so I was curious if there were any reviews of her salsa onilne. While it seems people like her salsa, this article did not improve my opinion: https://www.deseret.com/utah/2021/5/7/22409752/how-a-single-mom-of-seven-made-herself-the-salsa-queen-literally For example:
  9. I’ve realized why Mayim’s pauses and “long” responses to answers irks me so much. If I were a player, I think I’d feel it was jarring to pacing. I’d want to know if I could move on to next selection immediately, not process a pause and a sentence first.
  10. I'm so completely confused by this alternative world geography. Nolan said that a day in the hole is always in the same county - were we supposed to interpret that to mean that his was an anomaly or that somehow LA County has border towns? I try to handwave some things that locals know really well and outsiders may not, but this would just be a simple look at a map. (I might be extra frustrated because I grew up in Northern California and out-of-staters often assumed that a weekend trip could cover the entire state because there was no understanding of how giant it is.)
  11. I haven't watched the episode yet because I'm sure it'll irritate me as much as what you all have expressed. I do feel for Jaleesa though. I fully believe the poster from who knows how many pages back that she makes delicious stuff and is a good baker for the things she bakes. I don't think she's a good competitor though. 25k, after taxes, really isn't that great (especially factoring in lost revenue that may have occurred when she wasn't home to run her business) if she doesn't get to build her business based off winning, and I think that might not happen with all of the negative reactions.
  12. I often like seeing the comments here before watching the show to be prepared. Hearing about the tomato soup cake made me think of: I like Diego, but it looked like his cake had the fundamental problem of having an improper balance of liquids and dry. That's bad baking, and sometimes things happen, so I don't think he's a bad baker. However, I think it's perfectly justifiable, and not based on personality, that he was sent home for failing to bake a cake properly.
  13. I'm getting a kick out of all of the "women making out" comments, as if Hallmark movies have these super passionate kisses.
  14. I'm not snobby about the idea of a cookie salad, even if I don't like the name. My grandma used to make a delicious jello salad with a layer of creamcheese mixed with jello and a jello with fruit layer. It was refreshing during the hot summer months. My mom would make watergate salad, and I like that too. I'm happy to eat the comfort foods and the foodie foods. For me, it seems like a reasonable ask to have a fruit and pudding/cream dessert with a crunch/cookie element. I wonder if part of the disdain is because it's made as a giant serving rather than individual? I imagine tuile baskets with fruit and custard wouldn't get the same kind of reaction, yet they're fundamentally the same. (I do wish the chocolate striped cookie hadn't been a requirement, even if it's traditional for the midwestern dish.)
  15. I also wish that contestants had names on their aprons to help me learn them. I had to look at https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/spring-baking-championship/meet-the-competitors-of-spring-baking-championship--season-8 to remember basically anybody's name. I'm sure it's producer-driven, but I'm going to grow tired of Carolyn saying she's from Hawaii. She seems like a great baker and should stick around for a long time, but I don't want to hear that every episode! I really like Justin's lack of exuberance. I think that'll help him stay focused and calm through the competition. In trying to figure out what Tom's tattoo is supposed to be, I discovered he's worked with Ron Ben-Israel. Hopefully that means we'll see some great things!
  16. This isn't a real prediction, but I think it'd be hilarious if Joe Jonas was behind the motorcycle kids.
  17. Looks like you’re right! https://www.justjared.com/2022/02/13/robo-dog-commercial-for-kias-super-bowl-2022-ad-will-win-your-heart-watch-now/
  18. Crazed fans can do some real violence so I don’t see a problem with what Cal did. I think there’s a difference between temper and violence, and the show didn’t do a good job of showing him to have a temper. I am not a Christian, so I struggled with how much this season seemed to really focus on kind of a lip service to religion. I probably am not explaining this well. Things like going to the pastor for counseling rather than a therapist was fine, but all of the “be good because God” stuff got wearisome.
  19. I know I haven't been paying a lot of attention, but I'm super confused. When did Brea get over the fact that Adam thought it was okay to hide that he had a sexual indiscretion? (I don't know that I'd call a drunken kiss where someone is black out drunk "cheating" but don't think I came up with a good alternative.)
  20. Maybe it's because I know folks who actually do research on child development and parenting education, but Bow's unrecorded podcast where she thinks somehow the fact that she's an anesthesiologist qualifies her to give advice just makes me angry. And I wish the Dre storyline about suppressing emotions actually matched his character over the years.
  21. While Kerri looked beautiful, I am completely uninspired by her JLo look since it was literally a JLo outfit. I don't understand why people think she should have won because she had access to that. I'm much more impressed by someone reinterpreting for their body shape or imitating on a budget than someone having money or network (or both) to get the original.
  22. I'm so very underwhelmed at this point. Coral's looked like festival (bohemian) clothes that were coming out pre-pandemic. (I feel like it was 5+ years ago but I have no sense of time anymore!) I don't know how Shantall's centered genderfluid/non-binary - it looked solidly feminine to me? (As I think about it, Kristina's actually seemed way more genderfluid/non-binary...) I can appreciate Kristina's modular clothes and how much she whips out, but it doesn't work for me on the runway because it looks like someone who has to wear all of their clothes to pack them around. Chasity's was an interesting gown, but not all that exciting. With the way the finale runways are done on this show, I am slightly optimistic that Coral and Chasity will have something decent in the finale - they have a lot of flowy clothes with movement. Kristina and Shantall could have interesting runways but I don't think the music/lights/layout of the typical Project Runway finale runway will support their work.
  23. I figure Christian had more time to do better photo comparisons to pick the correct one AND he has the experience to choose. On Twitter, Bones really dismissed the wisdom or expertise that tend to come from those with experience. I'm not saying new people can't or won't have fresh ideas, but at least take a moment to listen to see if it might have some bits of useful stuff before being dismissive and domineering.
  24. Meaningful inclusion is also important so that folks who think they live where there is no diversity actually see representations of all sorts of folks on tv. It's not about being demographically representative, rather, it's making sure that viewers see all kinds of people to offset all of the stereotypes or caricatures that so many groups get pigeonholed into on tv and film.
  25. Since you said above that you didn't finish it, it's even worse than that! He was going to propose to his wife's friend because his daughter needed a mother and she had promised to always take care of them...
