S01.E04: Witchcraft and Superstition
Cdh20 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Men In Kilts (Starz)
I had a thought about the Outlander bits...they do refer to filming the show quite a lot in the Clanlands book. Also it is Outlander advertising for anyone watching that hasn’t seen the show, so Starz is completely behind that. Let’s be honest is anyone who isn’t an Outlander fan watching this show? -

SassAndSnacks is your Jamie crush spilling over to Sam? Lol, I swore mine wouldn’t but alas it long ago did.... -

I thought I was just tired when I watched, but I too was underwhelmed & didn't even chuckle! Sort of agree, I am surprised they refer to Outlander so much! Might be fan service, much like Sam taking off his shirt (this is the second episode he's undressed-is this in the contract?? ) My daughter jumps out to scare me all the time, & I hate it, so I too would have to ditch Sam if that continued! I liked Sam's coat! -
Ah, to be first timers again.... Looking forward to intelligent & insightful new posts!

I took it that she couldn’t do anything about it if Jack died when they saved Jamie, but now that she realized Mary Hawkins is his future wife, she thinks they can affect it!
-
As a fellow sports fan, my hubby was amused that Sam had his jersey signed!
-
I totally missed that info! My middle school best friend was a highland dancer, it’s not that hard!
-
It looked a tad damp that day, I think his hair just fell over, & parted, lol! I think I laughed more last week actually, although they are bad dancers so I felt bad chuckling this week! I did like the camper van chat about the Flintsones! And Graham’s American accent! Growing up in Canada we have bagpipes at many ceremonies ( the city I live in was named after a place in Scotland). And ( ducks) I kinda hate them, they make my ears bleed. My taste in music runs narrowly to one genre ( pop, top 40), so although I appreciate folk & traditional music in its place ( a tv show, movie, restaurant), I would never listen to it to dance in my kitchen, or sing in my car, at work or to workout! Ugh! My hubby is sure those women were thrilled to teach Sam how to dance though!

Indeed these are making me lol! They are not doing that girls’ moves at all! Can’t wait to watch after dinner tonight!

Unpopular Opinions: Overheard in the Castle Leoch Kitchen

Claire's capes alone were a reason to watch! -
Maybe if they get a second season they will use some of that footage, or revisit?
-
I think the man-crush developed in that first season of Outlander, haha!
-
That was a laugh a minute! Sam “ you’re going to have to try harder than that to get me naked! “ My hubby is still laughing!
-
I don’t get to watch until Tues😢.

The movie that Sam plays Paul Newman in ( To Olivia) was released today on Sky cinema, which I think is a European or Uk channel? Maybe someone will see it & come tell us if it was good.

The book is amusing. It’s an unusual mix of history lessons, mixed with personal & professional tidbits from the actors. The chapters go back & forth with POV. The book seemed more personal than the show ( I noted only Sam threw in a ‘ I lived in Edinburgh as a teen”, nothing from Graham). I’ve always felt Sam has kept his life very private, so I did enjoy finding out about his life in the book. ( and Graham’s too). We do watch a lot of travel shows & they are usually 1/2 hour long.

My guess from reading the book is that it was initially roadtripping & telling stories about the places. My guess is the "theme" theme came from Starz when they bought the show!
-
I have always wanted to visit! I assume they filmed a bunch of stuff & then had to fit the bits into the appropriate theme with time restraints. Sam was adorable, but I thought all the quippy bits felt quite scripted!
-
I would have preferred it on a big tv screen for the scenery, but I am just so glad to get it for free! I thought the quipped bits were a bit scripted, but looking forward to the rest. I was creeped out by the seafood live on the boat, but I love to eat it once it’s cooked & deshelled. My hubby will certainly prefer sports & history themes.

We are just going to figure it out in a minute, I think we can watch on the ipad tv app! Update -yup that worked! Was fun!
-
Not going to a theatre might not be a problem, they still aren’t even open where I live! But a romcom might be fun ( better than action).
-
Happy reading! I just remembered I also d/led the audio version, but haven’t listened to it yet! Everyone was saying it’s even funnier to listen to, than read!
-
He was pretty excited on Twitter to see that the “man of all men “ Sam had seen his review!

I don't know how I will be able to watch Men in Kilts in Canada?? Maybe with the Starz addon on Prime? Any Canadians know???

Why oh why did you need to read it first?. .... I do agree - BookJamie is much more of a real redhead (too much for me, )& not as pretty. Claire is definitely more shapely ( like me, haha) with the golden eyes. No one could have told me that my next big crush would be an dirty 18th century highlander in a kilt, but you are right Sam as Jamie is perfection! Speaking of my dad, he died of a heart attack, & it reminds me everyday to take care of myself. Thank goodness I love exercising, & cooking!
