  1. No, BookClaire I can understand but BookJamie, nope! He’s funnier, I’ll give him that, but nope!
  2. AH, you & I have so much to talk about! You are going to love those headphones, my hubby gave me the Bose ones a few years ago (he often gives me travel related gifts), & I love them. Do you love TvJamie more than BookJamie? I hate fighting in real life but those 2 laying it all out is a gift! (The Reckoning & First Wife) I think those scenes played out onscreen perfectly from the books, do you agree? I was actually spoiled to that one fact that Jamie had married Laoghaire & so I knew watching A Malcolm that "that" was what he was holding back, a spoiler none of my friends knew (we are all TV first). I may have to change my list above after a season 5 rewatch, hmmmmm.
  3. If you haven’t watched all the episodes with headphones then I recommend that you do that! The first time I watched a lot of it on the Tv screen, but the second Time through while simultaneously reading the books ( seasons 1-3), I watched on my iPad( in the dark) & I like it that way the most, you catch all the small details. Maybe I will watch A Malcolm, on your advice! It’s funny that many of my fave episodes ( a discussion that belongs in a different thread for sure) have Jamie & Claire not always quite on the same page.Examples of my friends texting me during A Malcolm to say “ why isn’t Jamie happier that Claire is back?” Or In The Wedding “ why is Claire so sad?”
  4. I am sad to see you sleepless, & mad. I haven’t gotten past the first chapter, lol! I do not want to be extra sleepless, or mad. I think you might benefit from a cocktail, just an idea! Or a wedding rewatch?
  5. Something to help with Droughtlander. https://www.tvinsider.com/946089/outlander-facebook-series-caitriona-balfe-sam-heughan/
  6. I got nothing new from that except there will be future seasons (plural, for those who speculate that 6 is the last), & they are not filming yet, but hope to start in fall, although it could be further delayed?
  7. They are never getting Emmies (Emmys)! But I still think it's unparalleled award winning acting from Sam & Cait!
  8. Oh I do hope you & your family are well too!!! Are you till working at home? I intend to start the next book, and read at least until the parts that were included in season 5. It's too nice out to be inside right now so a book in the yard is a good idea!
  9. It’s only you & I that want to talk about it everyday! Haha! It is the minutiae as you say that doesn’t interest me. I love that Jamie & Claire get to live happily on the Ridge, but I cannot say I care about all the random other people that are mentioned. I need a little more action, I assume that might be coming up in future books?
  10. Awe, SassandSnacks I loved your review. What I didn’t love was the book. I finished it about 1 month ago. If I wasn’t in love with TvJamie I probably wouldn’t have read past DIA. What I agree with Wholeheartedly is the adaptation of the keeping the baby discussion- spot on, I love it. And Jocasta’s wedding adaptation - the show totally lost the vibe on that one! Granted in these crazy times, I had trouble concentrating on reading, & preferred watching anything. And it would be funner if people here liked to chat more about Outlander during Droughtlander ( because that is going to be sooooooo long).
  11. I am going to jump in and say my fave season is season 1 as well. Probably because of Jamie & Claire being young & falling in love, and Scotland. Having said that I LOVE that Jamie & Claire are still together ( & hot & in love) because my biggest pet peeve on TV is that no couples stay together. My hubby & I just started watching Vikings, & I cannot believe that the "hero" has an amazing wife but dumps her after she miscarries for a younger wife, UGH! My hubby reminded me that everyone is not Jamie Fraser, & so it is!
  12. These shows based on books have to move along at a faster pace than the drawn out books. Also the books are only partly historically accurate, the point is to have interesting characters to root for ( & hate) & the real people might not fit the bill. The characters must age far too many more years on tv, than the actors in real life! Makeup is only so good.( I like my hero young, pretty, & in shape.) This show has made a point of not telling us the years of events, so I just let it go. I love to look up the real events, but don’t expect them to be portrayed the same in a book, or show.
  13. This will sincerely help us through Droughtlander!
  14. I am going to jump in here & say that I don’t hate any of the characters, not Frank or Laoghaire or Geneva, probably because I saw the show first. Well maybe I hate BlackJack Randall a bit.
  15. Is anyone not team Jamie?? Even my husband who feels so sorry for Frank, is team Jamie!!
  16. I have noticed a theme on the historical shows recently is feminism, which I love, but most likely is not historically accurate. My husband has read the Cornwall books, & assures me that the women are underplayed in the books. The exception being Aethelflaed & she was obviously exceptional to have actually ruled in that time! I have thought of reading the books, but expect to be frustrated or disappointed.
  17. If I was too worried about spoilers you wouldn’t find me in any book threads, haha! I will not make you talk about Helwater again, it doesn’t belong in this book/ topic anyway. (And it’s the show version I love anyhow.) i love that Diana created these wonderful characters, but I do not love ALL of these books, only bits & pieces.
  18. I didn't hate Helwater (don't really remember reading it but it's one of my faves in the show actually)! I have no idea what Dismal Swamp is?? Something to not look forward to? LOL I also didn't enjoy the Caribbean adventures in Voyager, I liked the whole first half, but the last 1/2, 1/3, whatever, was like a whole different book.
  19. Roger being sold to the Indians is indeed the worst plot of the first 5 books ( that is all I’ve read).
  20. I am on chapter 90 & I like that Roger is talking about watching Jamie & Claire because that is the marriage he wishes to have! It's interesting because we are often talking about (on the show) how Roger & Bree don't have the marriage (or chemistry ) that Jamie & Claire have, but here he is confirming that!
  21. For me the casting of secondary characters has brought them to life in a great way- Angus, Rupert, Fergus ( both), Young Ian. Murtagh & Marsali are probably the best examples.
  22. https://parade.com/1032482/tinadonvito/best-outlander-episodes/ Parade magazines top episodes (more than 10).
  23. I hope we get more seasons( fingers crossed). I think production of every damn thing is on hold because of covid 19? I bet anything that hadn’t started yet will be on hold until next year- ugh!
  24. I started reading the Fiery Cross for the first time just as this season was ending. I love how the scenes are coming to life as they were presented to me. I am also on rewatch with my daughter (she likes to binge it all at once, after her uni year is done). The book has so many characters, I think the show has done a good job of paring down the amount of people, & leaving out scenes we don't really need. And no wonder Fergus never says anything in the show, he hardly says anything in the books either (rolls eyes). I will say the book did a better job of "Better To Marry Than Burn" with Jamie & Claire hot for each other all day long leading up to the barn scene, but even Sam & Cait know that was a fail (On rewatch I enjoyed it more). Thank goodness there was no one licking Claire's toes though, sometimes those showrunners know just what to leave out after all.
  25. I don't care for comic book, super hero type movies to begin with, but I thought my hubby might enjoy it. We did not! I ❤️ Sam, but he couldn't save it. We watched Ford vs Ferrari a few weeks ago, & although the acting was good in that, I nodded off a few times. Perhaps I have typecast Sam & Cait to forever be Jamie & Claire, but I did enjoy The Spy Who Dumped Me.
