Oh God, there is a plot worse than last season's sold to the natives plot I hated? I hope this one gets resolved much sooner than the end of the season. Poor Roger!!! I like Roger, & am surprised how much Roger hate there is in the nonbook readers thread (I have not read this book yet, but intend to). I think it is because people expect him to have a 21st century perspective, but it is only a 20th century one! Big difference!

Not really, Book Claire has difficult pregnancies, & it’s one of the reasons Jamie sends her back to the future when she is pregnant with Brianna.

Those previews are always strung together & edited in a way to not give anything away! As bookreaders/bookfans are you all happy with this episode? All the nonbook things coming together in an amazing way, Murtagh, the syringe, the red coat?

We so deserved some gratuitous shirtless Jamie! At least we got to smile & sigh at the J/C moments, because most of the time I was gasping or crying!

I have only read the first 4 books once, so this is too hard for me. But I will say that the part where Jamie takes Claire to the stones & she has to choose, is much better written than onscreen! WatchrTina-come over to the thread with the top 10 episodes, please!

I suggested there might be a separate thread for book scenes, as this one is meant for both bookreaders, & non readers, & is really about the show only.

This line did not translate to Tv well! I did two things, since this scene seemed to miss the mark: I read the chapters, & rewatched it. What was missing on the show was how Jamie was watching Claire & horny all day waiting to find a way to get her alone! At first I couldn't believe he said "You are JUST a woman", but then he smirked after she slapped him, & I realized he did it to rile her up, knowing the outcome.

My story is similar, I had Outlander on a list of recommended TV shows, & I knew it was from a book series (that had also been recommended years ago) but I couldn't get my head around the fantasy time travel element, so hadn't read it. I am a historical fiction fan! So when we got Outlander on Netflix about 2 & 1/2 years ago, I thought well I have nothing to lose, & started watching episode 1 with my hubby. But part way through he chose to go watch a hockey game, & told me to carry on. About a week later he comes home from work one day & I am on 115, & asks me what has happened so I say well she fell through time & now she is married to this guy, so he says "Well I guess she is never going back to that other husband , now is she?" LOL. I actually struggled a bit through the first 6 , but as soon as Jamie & Claire got married I was all in. I binged season 2 the next week, then I started all over again, I couldn't stop, & I borrowed the first 2 books & read them quickly. Season 3 was just airing at the time, & really the end of season 2 is a horrible place to end, so once it was done I downloaded it to I-tunes. I had time to go online though & be spoiled a bit, which is when I realized I should probably not read ahead, so now I read the corresponding book just as the season is ending. I give Diana all the credit for creating these amazing people, but am so glad that these actors are my book people! I find, book first people are most disappointed in the show, & their Jamie never looks like Sam, or Claire like Cait. I think the book does some things better, & the show does others better. I should add that I went on & on about it so much that my husband watches it too now, as well as almost every friend, client & relative I have. I have not liked a Tv show this much in forever, maybe ever...

It is-is that why no one else is in here, giving us a list?? Quick question-you are a book fan first? I am a TV show fan first. I wondered if that would make the lists different. But I see maybe not?

I must watch it again! I think watching on my i-pad with headphones is my favourite way! ( but the new season is on tv)

I haven’t even read this book yet but I did read the chapters leading up to the scene, & the scene itself, & the whole tone missed the mark. I think the actors knew it too. The Tv dialogue was not in the book, & that was mostly what was wrong!

I love your list, as we have about 1/2 the same. I considered The Way Out as well, the beginning of our couple working together, & Jamie so obviously into Claire! The Battle Joined is an acting powerhouse! I agree!

I start crying as soon as I realize they are apart for 20 years. 20 YEARS! 4. Lost Things 304. Jamie gets something he's always wanted-a child. 5. First Wife 308. Jamie & Claire laying it all out about those 20 years, after that peaceful reunion. 6. The Birds & The Bees 409. Jamie & Bree finally meet! 7. A Malcolm 306. Claire's face! Me hoping they are never separated again. 8. Lallybroch 112. Loved meeting Jamie's family. Jamie telling Claire how long he's loved her. 9. Best Laid Schemes 206. Jamie talking to Claire's baby belly is everything! 10. The Company We Keep 504. That moonlit walk had me bawling again about those lost 20 years. I tried not to overthink it, I just went with my gut. I have certainly rewatched season 1 & 2 the most. And maybe there are some more great episodes to come this season still! 2 that I could not include because I do not enjoy watching them are Wentworth Prison 115, & Faith 207, but they are the 2 best episodes imo, & deserving of all the awards for Sam & Cait, respectively!

We’ve seen Jamie & Claire have sex twice this season so far. I think they (showrunners, actors, writers) want to show it to us, but they are out of ways to make it different, or count! Remember part of Ron’s explanation in season 1 was all about how the sex had to mean something, from an emotional place, it wasn’t just about gratification? Now that they are happily married ( since she’s been back), we are to assume they have a lot of sex ( if you read the book, you know it, if not you would guess it anyway ). We are never again getting sex like The Wedding or The Reckoning! No doubt the actors would rather stay clothed than be naked. I do miss their more passionate kissing, but don’t think their chemistry is lacking- they can heat up the screen just looking at each other (312), & I like the afterglow talks & touches!

My hubby was bored to tears too- he said " We need some fighting & killing." Although I saw him look up from his phone when Jamie & Claire started to go at in the barn! I love Jamie & Claire in the afterglow moments-more of those please! Jamie won the horse & then traded it back for an introduction to Bonnet! Yay for Roger getting a WIN! I love Fergus too! I also liked hearing Jocasta's back story, as sad as it was. Last season I was wondering what happened to any children she'd had???
