  1. I was surprised she made it to the end. Though maybe because she was kind of quiet and unassuming they figured she wasn't a threat. I liked her. Glad she won.
  2. I'm hoping it's someone we haven't seen in a while. Maybe Brad. I assume Buzzy isn't eligible since he does the podcast and stuff. I'm sure there are others I'm not remembering who could be considered "masters."
  3. It's a "Producer's Pick" which they apparently will announce on Friday (April 12).
  4. April 9: 60% / 37% / 48% Well, I got more than half in the first round, at least…But overall I didn't even get half. In J! I missed one in Business, three in Cities, and two in everything else. In DJ I missed two in Reboots & Remakes and Kneel Before Zed, three in Nobel Prizes, Measure, and Opera, and all five in Ancient History. Jeez, I'm glad this tournament is over. FJ: I have never even heard of the Sea of Marmara. TSes: (J had 2 + the DD; DJ had 2 + both DDs) I got "to thine own self be true" (DD). Is this the first time all tournament they missed all the Daily Doubles? Glad it's over, hoping for better games to come (by better games, of course, I mean my personal score because I'm starting to feel really dumb here), but I really didn't want Victoria to win. So boo.
  5. Yeah, I'll watch to the end but I can't say I'll miss it.
  6. You think it's just you? You don't know us at all !
  7. April 8: 50% / 40% / 44% I did not have a wicked good game…In J! I missed one in Aches & Pains, two in Working Hard and Slanguage, three in "A" to "A" countries (preguessed Argentina and Albania and that was all I got) and Pop Culture, and four in Parenting. In DJ I missed two in Novel Title Characters and Colleges & Universities, three in Consonant-Vowel x3 and It Pleased the Lord, and four in A Secret Chord and David Played. Had no clue for FJ. TSes: (J had 5; DJ had 1) I got Miss Congeniality and standing on business (never heard of that but I guessed it from Taking Care of… in the clue. As much as I'm ready to get back to "normal" games, I'm rooting for Andrew tomorrow! Was a little surprised they didn't have an eclipse category...
  8. If I had kids, and my parents felt strongly about having them baptized, I would do it for them (raised Methodist; it didn't stick). But I would be upset if they did it behind my back.
  9. I went to Wegmans the other day and right up front they had cookies from the bakery decorated for the eclipse. I think there were four large cookies, moons and suns, and most prominent in the package was a sun with black sunglasses. Except the frosting (they had a lot of frosting) had sort of melted and bled...they were mildly horrifying. 😎
  10. TV Weathergirl. I think now she's just helping in the video store/laundromat/illegal gambling establishment, if she's not just staying home with the baby.
  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedestrianism Pedestrianism was a 19th-century form of competitive walking, often professional and funded by wagering, from which the modern sport of racewalking developed
  12. I've only experienced a few. I felt the one that happened in Virginia in 2011(?). I was sitting on my couch and it was just a tiny little jolt and my first thought was a truck on the highway outside my apartment but then I realized there were no trucks passing by. A few years ago there was a small one (2.something) that was only a couple miles from me; it woke me up but it just felt like someone shook my bed for a second or something. This one actually had my furniture shaking for several seconds. Apparently there were several aftershocks; one was 4.0, which my brother felt but my parents and I did not. My cousin's dog evidently felt one, also, because they said she reacted to something that no one else in the house noticed. And I remember there was one when I was a teenager but I slept through it. I saw some local news coverage and there were some houses (three in a row very close together) in the town where it happened that had visible roof damage and were deemed unsafe so several people/families (and at least two cats) have to find somewhere else to stay until they're repaired. Also saw a water main break (I think it was in Newark) that was gushing water from a big gap in the roadway. But I haven't seen any reports of injuries, so at least there's that.
  13. You gotta wash it off right away...
  14. Week 30: 2/5 (Monday and Friday, wardrobe and NSA) YTD: 74/150 (49%) with 6* I'll bring some jiggly jello in honor of the Great New Jersey Earthquake of 2024 that I experienced this morning.
  15. April 5: 50% / 57% / 54% J!: A halfway decent round…literally. Missed one in Farming History and Final"ist", four in In the Past, and three in everything else. DJ: Only slightly better…ran In This Economy?, missed one in Things People Say, two in 20th Century Lasts, three in Sculpture and Horror Music, and four in On the Map. FJ: I got FJ…not quite an instaget but pretty quick. TSes: (J had 1; DJ had 5) I got pinafore, socialism, and hand crank. Yay, Amy! Even though I was rooting for Andrew. But I have a grudge against Victoria for beating Sam last night.
  16. I have long hair, too, and the amount I pick up by just running my hand across the carpet (especially near my dresser) always makes me wonder how I'm not bald.
  17. Well, we just had an earthquake a little while ago, too... (Friday morning, April 5). 4.8 magnitude, about 55 miles from where I'm at.
  18. Okay, I have heard that song, but I could not have told you who sang it.
  19. But at the same time, when Sheldon "unbaptized" him he was all "put it back!" Maybe he considers it some kind of insurance for himself.
  20. As soon as the moms agreed there had to be a church wedding I said, "...wrong church."
  21. April 4: 53% / 50% / 51% In J! I missed three in Anatomical Etymology and You Can't Spell… and two in everything else. In DJ I missed two in Train Tales, Beacon in the Night, and 90s Movie Fun and three in everything else. No clue for FJ. TSes: (J had 2; DJ had 3) I only got Yogi & Boo-Boo. Terrible game to cap off a terrible day. Didn't leave work until 6:57 and Sam lost. 😠
  22. Even when she had her (apparently month-long) "slip up," she lost 5 pounds instead of gaining.
  23. I remember a blue (or purple?) flower. I'm guessing they made this one, too. If the Gordon Lightfoot clue had referenced Edmund Fitzgerald I would have gotten it. (Frankly, I really only know him because of the running theme here. The song itself came out when I was not quite a year old.)
  24. If you were here in NJ right now you'd be at risk of blowing away. It rained literally all day and my umbrella blew inside out when I got to work and again when I got home. Since I turned off the TV I can really hear the wind blowing. I will never understand how some of these things get so bad before anything is done about them. How do you get to the point of having a tumor literally hanging all the way down your back?
