  1. Interesting...I'm basically afraid I'm suddenly going to be deathly allergic to something. Even though I've never been allergic to any food or medicine (just seasonal allergies which some years don't even bother me much). I haven't eaten nuts or peanuts in about 25 years (it all started with my first panic attack...) but in the last year or so practically everything has felt unsafe. ("Everything" is an exaggeration. I'm not nearly as restricted as some of the people in that facebook group, though; sometimes I feel like I don't really belong there). I should see a therapist but the thought of making that call (or a bunch of calls, possibly) is daunting.
  2. So...why did her mom kick her out? It's easy! 1 cup of cocoa powder, 1 1/2 cups of sugar, a pinch of salt, and 1 cup of water. Mix it all together in a 3-4qt saucepan over medium heat, whisk it pretty much continuously until it all dissolves/melts together, bring it to a boil (watch it because it will boil over quickly if you're not paying attention), then reduce heat to low and simmer for five minutes, stirring occasionally. It will thicken up a little bit (and thicken more when it cools). Remove from the heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Pour into a jar, let it cool for a bit (I wait a couple hours so it doesn't get condensation in the lid), then store in the fridge. Makes about 2 cups. I've experimented with different types of cocoa and sugar. Regular Hershey's cocoa and granulated white sugar is the closest I've come to Hershey's syrup flavor. I've also done Hershey's Special Dark cocoa, sugar in the raw, and the last several times I've done regular cocoa with half white sugar and half brown sugar; I think that's my favorite.
  3. Last week I debated between Oreos and chocolate milkshake and chose Oreos. Tonight I have my shake. I wanted to make homemade chocolate syrup but I haven't gotten around to it so I had to use Hershey's.
  4. I need simple, easy recipes...not a confident cook and I have very little counter space so my kitchen is frustrating. Also I might have something called ARFID (not sure if a doctor would actually diagnose me) of the type that makes me afraid to eat a lot of things because I'm afraid something bad will happen (for no real reason...it might be more of an anxiety disorder than an eating disorder, per se). Which I have not mentioned to anyone before now except in a private facebook group about the topic.
  5. I'm sorry, but that pink one-shoulder, no-bra look sister is wearing is just a no. (Sister's the one with the red hair, right?) And the crop top on Friend isn't any better. Damn, should have gone with 642 ...at least I would have been closer.
  6. Damn, it's later than I realized! I'm not optimistic here, since we've spent almost the whole first hour mostly on the drive to Houston. Feels like they needed a lot of filler.
  7. I'm guessing 542. Just because 642 is always wrong and I don't think she's higher than that.
  8. They're spending a lot of air time on this three-day trip. I feel like they've been driving for a week...
  9. "The pain in my leg was flaring up right from the jump...so we stopped to get some chicken fingers." With extra toast. No cole slaw.
  10. "...but it's gonna take a lotta snacks to get me there." 🤦🏻‍♀️
  11. One is her sister (haven't caught her name) and the other (Delilah) is her best friend. (I'm 96.3% sure I've got that right.) I just didn't remember which of them was talking at the time.
  12. But her friend (sister?) knows she's ready!
  13. Well, the episode description suggests that mom bails, so I'm curious how that'll go down.
  14. Is it just me or was the camera angle when they were showing the van from behind tilted to the right a bit? That was on purpose, wasn't it?
  15. She's 26. Oops, posted twice; didn't seem like it posted either time. Comment box is being weird lately.
  16. It was medium sized, and then, poof!
  17. Corn dogs, biscuits, sausage, and bacon for breakfast. I don't eat that much bacon in a year.
  18. And we're starting right out with the toilet and the shower.
  19. Hi Peeps! Settling in with my eating habit for the evening...a chicken and rice bowl. I call it that because it makes it sound all trendy and whatnot. I cut up leftover chicken and put it at the bottom of the bowl, then covered it with leftover brown rice and peas, and sprinkled some water over it to hopefully keep it from drying out too much in the microwave. The chicken was made with Penzey's Mural of Flavor blend and I topped it all with some freshly ground black pepper. Shakyia, 26, Charlotte, NC, weight unknown
  20. April 10: 67% / 54% / 60% Still not a great game. I'm out of practice for normal-people-level questions. Or I haven't eaten dinner yet and need some brain fuel. Yeah, that's it. In J! I missed one in Slang, Music Terms, Flag Time, and Ask Forgiveness, and three in Baseball and Not Persimmon. In DJ I missed one in 70s TV Drama and Does that Ring a "Bell"?, two in State Capital Rivers (but they only got to three of them) and Books & Authors, and three in Mothers-In-Law of Henry VIII (they also only got to three of those). Did not get FJ; I haven't seen the movie and don't remember seeing a dog in the trailers I have seen. TSes: (J had 6; DJ had 9 + 1 DD…plus four clues left on the board!) I got Ponderosa Pine, Ku Klux Klan (though that was only a TS after they determined Lucas mispronounced it so it sorta doesn't count), Richmond, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and whistle pig. Haven't heard a "less than a minute to go" in a looong time. Longest reigning champion in J! history but only played three games. 😄 Sucks to lose the first one back after all that time.
