Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
Elizzikra replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
You work weekends and also live with your phone attached to your ear. It’s a tough way to earn a living; you sometimes do a lot of work and don’t earn a dime. I wonder if Christine’s kids didn’t qualify for Medicaid/CHIP. Perhaps they make too much? Or they just didn’t want the state digging around in their finances? -
And he at least two different pairs of shoes that he could wear!

Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.

I think it just gets dusty... -
I think he googled "divorce," printed the papers off the internet and failed to notice that his printer ran out of paper after the first page. He grabbed the page, stuck it in a folder to make it look "official" and then jumped in the car to go stir up some shit at the couple's retreat. Idiot.

I'm an outlier. I don't love Michelle on the show but I like her on AfterParty. I don't think that her concerns about David were invalid. I guess I fault her for not being willing or able to overlook his appearance, particularly when he looks like what she described being attracted to, but she isn't the first or last person on this show who isn't able to get past initial appearances. Bottom line, I think she was always honest with David about what her issues were and he was always blathering on about how important it was to him that she be honest. Ironic then, that he made lying to her a way of life. I agree that there was no hope for Michelle and David's relationship but there was a marriage. We all saw it. There was a commitment to be on the show and to be married for the eight weeks. David was married, even if he was "not getting what he needed" in the marriage. I think that Michelle is justified in her anger, not only at his lies but his repeated lie upon lie and insistence that she was the reason for his lying and his bad behavior. I'd be pissed too. Honestly, I was bored by the time the entire thing had played itself out but I give her credit for getting to the bottom of the situation. I saw no pleasure in her telling Allen. I did see some satisfaction in her finally getting the truth out of David. Most of my sympathy is for Allen though. I think he is a good guy and more than many of the participants in the show, I think he wanted this to work out. He was smitten with Madison and he really tried. I think he is a great catch and I'm pretty confident that he will be snapped up pretty quickly when he is ready. I hope he chooses wisely and carefully. Genuine question - why? I never delete anything unless I'm hiding something and that's rare (not as interesting as it sounds; sometimes my kid looks for something on my phone (with my consent) and I don't want her to see things like "who's purchasing what birthday gift" text exchanges with my husband). Otherwise why delete? It's not like I'm in danger of running out of storage space or something. If any of you are old enough to remember When Harry Met Sally, there is this scene where Jess and Marie are sitting in bed, having just witnessed the aftermath of Harry and Sally's relationship and Marie looks at Jess and says "please tell me I will never be out there (the dating scene) again." Tom and Camille remind me of this scene. I think they both want to be married to someone who will be good to them and a good parent for any kids they might have. I think they like each other enough and are attracted to each other enough and want the same things enough to make this work. And I think they are both done with looking. I mean, it's her voice. What is she supposed to do about it? It's high pitched but I actually think the content of what she says is pretty spot on. I usually agree with her. And I think she does a good job of pushing for the truth but not necessarily revealing any biases she might have. I am sure that she likes some cast members more than others. Overall, I think she is a good host for this. As for the cards - she has a director. They tell her to hold the cards facing out and they probably re-shoot if she doesn't get it right. So.... I think Juan and Emem were concerned that Allen would do something stupid in the moment - most probably drive when he had been drinking. Less likely - take a swing at David (not that Allen strikes me as a violent guy but he was upset and David was being a total dick). She was pretty comfortable receiving it (not that she did, but she was all 12-year-old giggly about it when she found out it was intended for her). I wonder if he had some way to know she would be receptive - like perhaps he had said or texted something to her in the past that was similar and she received well? And according to Karla they disappeared for awhile at the club to "look for Madison's phone?"

Maybe he gifts her one every time she makes noise about wanting another baby? -
I agree. I think the least that Madison could have done was be the one to tell Allen that she and David "like like" each other instead of letting David do that. Madison was never attracted to Allen though they kissed a lot at the wedding (probably the high of being queen for a day and alcohol). They have not kissed since their wedding and she was pretty upfront with Allen about the things that she found unattractive. He tried to "fix" them all. Madison really continued to live her life after the wedding; she went out with friends a lot, leaving Allen at home. He had envisioned watching tv together on the couch in the evenings after work. Even though she showed up for the MAFS stuff, she friend-zoned Allen the day after the wedding and he never had a chance after that, though she couldn't say that directly. I don't know that Allen was "in love" with Madison but he caught some feelings for her. He thought she was gorgeous and was probably thrilled that being financially self-supporting came along with a package he found pretty. I think that he really was looking for a wife by coming on this show and I think he gave his best. I think that Allen was going to say yes on Decision Day and hope that attraction somehow developed. I think that he is hurt and his pride is wounded and I don't blame him on either count. I love Allen and I'm hoping he finds someone who loves him for who he is. I think he will be an excellent husband and father someday. David is definitely not the "pretty" boy that Madison has described as being her type but he is the "bad boy" I think. They both like to party and that, plus the gym, seem to be their primary non-work interests. I don't think they will last but I think they are having fun together right now. I think they both also enjoy the attention they are getting from each other. They both seem to like compliments and ego stroking and I imagine there is a lot of that going on. Finally, misery loves company. Neither of them had a satisfactory match in their estimation so they are crying on each other's shoulders about that while deadlifting martinis.

I was waiting for someone to mention that! Holy Product Placement Batman! I don't remember them ever being that blatant about that in the past. David is totally a player. I don't care what he was or wasn't getting from his marriage. He could have waited until after Decision Day. Also, Madison should have been the one to tell Allen, not David. Allen was hurt, definitely. But he should put on his new $3,000 wardrobe and dive deep into his DMs because he is a catch and there will be plenty of fine women out there for him. Get on that, ladies!

A younger child might toss a pillow into a crib, not knowing it could accidentally smother a baby. But a child Brian's age, being irritated by a crying baby, picking up a pillow and holding it over the face of the baby - that is highly aggressive behavior and would be indicative of an issue. On top of that, Doris has already lost one child. I wouldn't say that Brian is beyond help at this point but I can definitely understand Doris and Harry deciding that they couldn't keep Brian. I thought she asked him if he went to medical school and he said, "no, pre med" and yes, it's ridiculous that someone who was pre med would be not just drawing blood but gathering a pint. Even if he had though, any doctor I know would tell you that they learn blood draws and IV starts in med school and then... never really do them again. You want a nurse or a phlebotomist. I did think the HIV test and the gay cop storyline was a nice touch. That is one of a thousand ways it would be challenging to be a closeted cop in the 90's. Agreed, especially since Dexter doesn't know that Nicky has recognized his kidnapper as his father. I've been wondering how Aaron is going to get away with this without killing Nicky and and when he left the arcade, I was thinking he was going to Nicky as much to get rid of the eyewitness as he was to gather up and run off with his son. Not to be an idiot, but the first kid who was kidnapped... was that to make Nicky's kidnapping seem like part of a larger cartel thing and help cover Aaron's tracks? How and why did he choose that kid to kill? Was there some vendetta there? Or did someone else do that and Aaron is copycatting?

We didn't see it. The morning they left for the couple's retreat, Allen said his package had arrived. He said that Madison had mentioned to him that she liked a nice smile so he ordered one of those "retainers by mail" things.
-
It could have been anywhere. He literally never left his apartment.
-
It is. His sister said she helps him with his washcloth wipe downs but otherwise she said she has seen him go months without touching water (except, I suppose, to mix with his kool aid powder).

They are making it super easy for people to quit them, aren't they? -
I am not sure he is in love. I think that he is grounded enough to realize that. But I do think that he is smitten and he will be disappointed that this isn't working. I'm not worried about him though; I think that he will be snapped up quickly by someone who likes him for who he is and will be a good partner for him. I wondered that too. At first I thought he fell asleep waiting up for her but it looked like he settled in there for the night. I wouldn't have done that either. Allen is tall too. That can't have been comfortable for him. I wonder how long it took him to grow that thing.

I hope he kept the stylist's number so he can update his wardrobe over time.

Dead mother; absentee neglectful father; bitchy mean girls at school - I'd be rageful too.

I think the people that watch will do so to hear about the Rust shooting and its aftermath. -
She did good though - or actually that stylist guy did. I loved all the things that they chose for him but I don't know if he bought any of it.

I don't think that withholding affection and/or sex is an effective way to be in a marriage, but these are not regular marriages. These people MET at the altar and have been "married" (legally only) for what - 8 weeks? I don't fault Michelle at all for not being physically affectionate with David and I don't think that anyone should ever have sex unless they actually want to have sex.

Is Ikechi anyone's cup of tea? He's a dick; showing up at couple's retreat with divorce papers and not even a complete set. Did I mishear or did he call her an asshole as he was strutting out the door? I thought he looked great in his new wardrobe. Some other woman is really going to love the new and improved Allen. I'll admit it. I love Allen. He reminds me of my husband. My husband isn't a traditionally macho guy but he is the strongest and kindest person I know. He has been stuff that would break most people and he has just come through it all with a grace and dignity and love that are beautiful to see. Like Allen, my husband would throw together a beautiful meal for a group of friends and would genuinely hope that everyone enjoyed it. Like Allen, my husband (who really could not care less about what he or anyone else looks like) would dress up to try to make me feel beautiful next to him. I don't dislike Madison but she is not attracted to Allen and isn't going to be. I hope they both find someone who loves them for who they are. Juan's pornstache is unflattering. I hope that goes.

Compare & Contrast: Original Dexter vs. Dexter: Origins
Elizzikra replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Dexter: Original Sin
I think Dexter did love Rita and Harrison. I also think he loved Deb but never in a romantic or sexual way. I’m not sure Dexter realized he loved them or gave himself any credit for finding a way to love them but he did.
