  1. No worries, OhioMom! One thing I love about PTV is there are so many smart people who share what they know. I'm a little punch drunk right now and wanted to make sure we're all good. So...carry on!
  2. While there is a distinction between state troopers and police officers, they are both law enforcement. (And that is my quiet mod way of saying, let's not have an argument over it, please.) Thanks!
  3. Since it's on the previous page, I'll post another reminder, most of the talk of the about the recent revelation of abuse is being discussed in the Josh and Anna topic. We're giving a wide, wide wide berth regarding staying on topic, and we're trying to hold the conversation there. Personal stories, talking about the entire family, the parents, the various religious aspects--all there. Links to media about it as well. Discussing Jim Boob and Mechelle and the other sisters and their families is also encouraged in their topics, but can be incorporated in a general post, too In short, we understand it's a huge deal, and we're allowing wide latitude. We just ask that speculation not include names or graphic details. It's a horrible situation, let's give the victims the privacy the adults close to the situation didn't. So please join the discussion so that many others can commiserate with you over in the Josh and Anna topic.
  4. (SpaghettiTuesdays answering your question, that I moved, in Announcements from the Mods.)
  5. No, it's fine. awaken asked where the crew episode was. So I provided the link. Y'all are good! (Just be careful with speculation please.)
  6. What Josh may call counseling is not what most would consider counseling. He was given a stern talking by a police officer (who is serving time for child porn), a friend of Jim Bob. Before that, he was supposed to go somewhere for counseling, but ended up doing manual labor remodeling a house. So, he may consider it counseling. That's not the general consensus among experts. And the Behind Episode topic is here.
  7. Folks, can we please move back to the topic, please? Thanks!
  8. A reminder folks, a waaays back I posted the definitions of molest and pedophilia. Josh molested some girls when he himself was a minor. We don't know if he's a pedophile. Molester =/= pedophile.
  9. I don't think that's necessary. If someone feels that strongly, they can probably find that information on internet somewhere. A link to where a list is posted is fine. But we don't need a list of all the advertisers.
  10. This is link heavy, but i found it interesting. (From Slate.com) I only know many of the names mentioned because of reading this forum!
  11. It makes my heart ache. On the flip side, I'm so proud to be a mod of this forum, how you've all expressed yourselves so thoughtfully and with sympathy. It's made it a welcome place for others to post about their experiences, too. We may not be able to do much for the these victims, but we all know it's not just them, and you've all made this a safe place for people to share. And that's just as important. No matter who was molested, the entire family is affected. And I wish that on no one.
  12. I've seen Avengers twice, so my vote would be Avengers. I'm leaving for Disney on Sunday and won't be back on until June 2. Woo-hoo!! We're taking the kids out of school for Star Wars weekend, baby! Maybe we'll meet some Jawas.
  13. There is a difference between sexual abuse and pedophilia. Molest: to harm (someone) through sexual contact : to touch (someone) in a sexual and improper way. Pedophilia: sexual feelings or activities that involve children. It may be semantics, but it matters. He allegedly sexually abused his sisters, it doesn't make him a pedophile. This is a volatile topic and we need you all to be very respectful of your fellow posters. Do not say, "I can't believe you said that! That's disgusting!" "You need to get your head fixed!" "Maybe you should watch a different show." Do not lecture or attack your fellow posters for their opinions. Also, let's not bring other forums/Facebook/Duggar fan reactions into this. It will just make everything unnecessarily ugly. Also realize the conversation can have lulls and times where there isn't much to talk about it. And that's ok, too.
  14. No. There is no need for a new topic. We may edit the title, but it's not a top priority.
  15. Thanks Dave! As Bella said, it has been respectful, thoughtful and cautious. We really do appreciate it. You may resume discussion keeping in mind what Dave said and that this is just an altogether terrible situation. And now, I'm going to go hug my kids and make sure they know I love them.
  16. The only reason I won't let my daughter dye her hair whatever color she wants is because she's 9 and I'm worried about the damage and health effects on a small body. Once she gets bigger, heck yeah!
  17. We don't feel a new topic is necessary. The nature of the conversation will most likely fit in several threads and that's fine. Also, let's be calm and level headed about this. Please be careful with wording and speculation. Thanks!
  18. Lookeyloo, you're in the Small Talk topic. :)
  19. It's the tomatoes. Tomatoes are yum.
  20. Ugh, just saw a commercial for AT&T All Life Digital or something where your security cameras and system are linked to your account? Anyway, the mom is away and of course the day is making a slew of errors. I hate that shit so much. GAH! It bothers me that dads are made to look like idiots in order to, I don't know, prop up moms. Makes me so angry!
  21. There's also been some discussion about who should play Papa Holmes and someone mentioned Timoth Dalton. I loved his turn as a wackadoo Russian criminal in Chuck. I don't think Mark Rylance would be all that good, though. I didn't find his Cromwell menacing enough. And given how Sherlock has described him as soulless and heartless (and it's how he's rich) then I need someone who is rather pitiless. With all that being said, I honestly believe that we will not see Papa Holmes. It will all happen off screen and we'll pick up months later. To be honest, I'd rather we never see Holmes Sr and instead just see the fallout of his visit.
  22. Replying about Papa Holmes and other speculation in the Unspoiled Speculation topic.
  23. A colonoscopy is a preventative and diagnostic procedure where you're heavily sedated and your colon is examined by placing a small, maneuverable camera (I think) into the colon. It can also snip polyps for biopsy. Like a mammogram, it's recommended for adults after a certain age to screen for colon cancer, though it's used when needed. Like a surgery, there are preparations the patient must do in advance of the procedure. Pixel will have a better and more accurate description, no doubt.
  24. I would agree with this. What happened in Winter Soldier really shook things up. And now . There was a little bit of background for AoU. It wasn't huge and you wouldn't miss it, but it added something. It explained a little of what Steve meant when he said, "Illegal human experimentation". It adds shading to the universe less than must see watching. I will say that after Winter Soldier, the AoS villains have become lot more entertaining than the movie villains.
