I don't know if its Common as much as it is the character. I just think the character of Elam is a bit one dimensional and sort of an asshole Tonto. I mean his backstory of course is deep, but they mostly explored that in flashbacks. I don't think they give Common much to work with and its part of the reason why, if they decide to kill off Elam I won't be too misty eyed over it. Ugh, she is the absolute worst. I could only make it five minutes into the first episode of the latest season of Scandal. Something happened and she was supposed to do this manicial laughter, and it was just so awful that I turned it off and could never watch again. She makes the show that painful to watch. And I hate that because I love the idea of having a black actress as the lead of a primetime show. Love the idea, I love the writing of the show, but she is just such an awful actress. I know that there are tons of talented, beautiful, black actresses out there I just don't know why she got the role. I mean, she is pretty and she looks good in her wardrobe, but she is so bad in that role its painful. And it took away a big opportunity from another black actress who would have been amazing in the role. But thats just MO, and M may V. Anyways, while I probably won't watch it, I'm excited for Viola Davis in "How to Get Away With Murder" because I think she is a fantastic actress.

S05.E01: Golden Days For Boys And Girls
RealityGal replied to Athena's topic in Boardwalk Empire [V]
Agree, the kid actor was really good. And I normally cringe anytime I see a kid on screen. Thats exactly what I was thinking when they were doing the blood handshake was that it was a terrible way to pass communicable diseases. Well, he appears to wrap them in a handkerchief I'm sure he carries around for that very reason. I'm sure its a bitch to get blood out of a cream linen suit, and a man can only afford so many. And really, what do you say after you find an ear in the hamper? Even now, there isn't a Dr. Phil, Oprah, or even Divorce Court that covers how to handle the situation. -
As much as I hate what Cullen did, there was at least some reasonable reasoning behind it. And bear in mind, I hate what he did with the sick soldiers and I probably don't wanna know what else. But there was at least some rational thought. I think Elam has just gone half crazy with a brain injury and I'm not sure how anyone would ever fix that, especially in the late 1800's. His actions haven't seemed at all rational in that he killed someone who was trying to help him, and dragged off three women and tackled one who was trying to get away.

I know right, I thought the exact same thing, I was like "is he doing the running man? I think he is!" I think Elam's death is going to be the big moment ending this season. I do not think he is long for this world, not in his current state. When Eva said she felt his soul pass, but we didn't see him super dead, I wasn't sure what to think. I had a feeling he was alive, but this is the sort of show that would give weight to someone's natural prophetic instincts, so I didn't think she would be wrong. It never occurred to me that there would be a situation where both myself and Eva were right. He asked the lord to spare him, and I think he will regret that decision, since it seems like he was meant to die after his fight with the bear. I too am sad the trapper had to die, I kept hoping it was a superficial wound, but we saw the dead bloody body, so thats the end of him :( I'm hoping Elam's time with the Indians is a segue to an Indian raid that forces Cullen to send Naomi and his son back to the Mormon camp and he can focus on the railroad. I think the woman will end up being someone who will add to the story. The trapper said that she was important which is why they were sending soldiers after her.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out

LMAO! Brilliant Minds, because I flove Grey Gardens. If you love any and all references to Grey Gardens you have to check out the RuPauls Drag Race Snatch Game episodes where one of the queens did Little Edie. A wing? That seems a little grand for anything other than a college or a hospital. -
Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Your comment reminds me of "Grey Gardens" which I think was the first reality show ever. And honestly, one of the best. Now, its all people like Frankie, looking for the best camera angle. I don't know what to make of that blog entry or whatever he was doing. I can understand some D list celebrity pushing through line at Disneyland, I mean people generally go there and don't want to get into a fight, and would just assume whoever is pushing in front of them in line is important. But the state of airlines today, and knowing people from New York makes me question how much of that behavior he was able to get away with at JFK. I find it hard to believe that some New Yorker wouldn't have said something to him, and even harder to believe that a ticket agent, armed with the power of putting you on a "no fly" list would put up with that attitude. -

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
A reality show with Caleb & Ryan Lochte.....no shirts, no brains....game on! We could call this show taupe and sandlewood, which are two of the least bright colors on the crayon box, and neither of them would realize its a reference to their intelligence. This anchor is killing me, she is dying! ETA: "in" the crayon box....geez, who is the least vibrant crayon now?? -

RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
ha ha, did you see Ryan Lochte on 30 Rock? Just that appearance alone would make me watch him on a reality show. Although I do worry about Caleb getting weird with girls, like trying to chloroform them or something. the thing is, I've been to JFK, and it does not strike me as the type of airport where the people would just let someone cut in front of the line. Heck, I'm from plain 'ol Southern California, and I couldn't imagine letting someone cut the line without saying anything. And even if other customers allowed someone to cut the line, the ticket agents at the counter don't play those games, ever at all, not in California, not in Pittsburgh, not in Des Moines, not in Newark, and I really wouldn't think in New York. And who the hell is Courtney? -
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta - General Discussion
RealityGal replied to David T. Cole's topic in Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta
I had never heard of this type of mutiny. Although, I would be shocked to see it from this show since I think every single one of them needs the show more than the show needs them and I think they all know it. I think its unfortunate but true. All of them are barely relevant as it is. Joseline brings the drama, and thats what the show needs to keep people watching. If people stop watching the show will get cancelled, and they all need the show. If any of them are under the impression that people will tune in just to watch Mimi whisper deny having a sex tape, Scrappy talking incoherently, Rasheeda and Kirk's attempts at a fabricated storyline, and Tami's and Erica's boring lives I think they are mistaken. The most exciting thing that happened this season to happen to Tammy was when she sort of got into it with Joseline. Erica's was the portion of the season when she was dating an out of work "model" Mimi has the sex tape, but until the show dedicates itself to finally exposing the truth about her lies that story will become boring too, and I'm starting to get annoyed at the fact that the show and everyone on it only wants to blame Nikko when its obvious to me at least that Mimi was in on this entire thing from the jump. Either way, even if Mimi's sex tape is interesting, I don't think its interesting enough to carry the show for multiple seasons. Every show needs a shit stirrer and drama starter. Mimi, as a person, isn't that interesting. Most of what she does is whine about Stevie, claim she doesn't care for him and puts down Joseline behind her back. In fact, most of the time, the only reason Mimi is even mildly interesting is because of Joseline. Now Karlie Redd is also interesting, IMO, even though she is super messy. But I don't think she has enough drama to carry the show, especially now that Joc is gone she is going to have to find a storyline. But exactly what is someone like Erica going to do without LHHATL? I know she thinks she can fall back on Classiq! dresses, but apparently no one has clued her in that you can buy dresses like that at Styles 4 Less for about a fraction of the price. There is no need to go online and pay top dollar for lycra club dresses. She isn't selling anything new and/or interesting. Neither is Rasheeda, she has her makeup line, and I guess a clothing line, but both she and Erica rely on the show even for their side ventures. That chick from RHONY, Bethanny? Her genius was in hitting up an underrepresented market with her "Skinny Girl" line. But none of them have an idea like that, both Tammy and Erica have pretty basic clothing lines, Rasheeda has a makeup and clothing line, but not a one of them is selling anything new and/or innovative. And I think if you even asked them to explain what is special about their ventures they all sound like a fail. Erica - "well, all my clothing is made of lycra so everyone can wear it." Say what? Tami doesn't even explain what is so special about her clothing other than she would wear the stuff. I'm not sure Rasheeda has explained her makeup either. What is Momma Dee gonna do if she refuses to tape with Joseline, what will Karlie Redd do? I'm not at all interested in HH Weekly, and would be even less interested without the free advertising Benzino gets on a weekly basis for his magazine. I'm not sure Mimi still has a business, but I doubt she wants to go back and clean houses after this. So I think they should all think long and hard before refusing to tape with Joseline, because I think Mona could cut any of them from the cast in a hot minute. Especially Tammy/Wocka -
When she was talking to her agent my eyes were almost on constant roll. I must have looked like a cartoon character. She is turning down TV roles with major stars, I mean not just turning them down, not even being bothered to read a script. I guess tiny role in a Broadway show for a month was better than working with major stars on TV pilots. Oh man, just typing that is making my eyes twitch to roll again.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Just...wow. -
Here is the thing #1 - I have no idea what they were talking about, IIRC neither of them referenced the actual comment Korina made in that conversation. So its entirely possible that was producer manipulated. They may have been talking about the judges, or who goes home, or Zac's penchant for ankle boots. Because the TH is interjected by the producers into the program, I would throw it out as any evidence of what the two of them were talking about. #2 - I don't think its off the mark for her to not trust Amanda, but we have no idea what that lack of trust is based on, because whatever her lack of trust is based on wasn't explained by her. And honestly, if someone asked her how she felt about Shandaya, she might have answered the same way. So if the question was "how do you feel about Amanda" and Korina's response was "I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about Amanda. It's hard to get close to somebody that you're not sure if you trust." I don't think thats out of line. #3 - I have heard way, way, way, way, way worse in the workroom. And a lot of them joke and get catty with each other in the workroom. They almost all do catty impressions of each other. Char may have had no idea that something like that would set Amanda off given the entire workroom environment of shit talking which generally leads to camaraderie. A lot of workroom interactions seem to start with a comment that, in the wrong hands, and with the right editing could seem mean, or could seem like innocent shit talking. #4 - I think "while they appear" to exchange knowing looks is the right way to put it. Like I said, you can only go by what the producers show you, but I think its very easy to manipulate how two people look at each other. And frankly, I don't think Char's comment to Amanda is all that unfair, if thats how she feels and she told her in a measured even way, I don't think thats all that bad. People on this board think its unfair for a contestant to get a second chance, so its not crazy to think another contestant feels the same way. Especially if Amanda, as she enjoys doing in her TH, extols all of her advantages in getting a second chance. But again, context is key. What was the situation in which Char said that, did Amanda say something to bring it about, was it in an overall conversation, what was the tone. #5 - Again, commentary only from Amanda in which everyone else is the bad guy and just out of the blue is telling her mean things that hurt her feelings. No context except what she tells Fade. When Fade asks her a question that would have been designed to elicit what may have brought about the entire exchange suddenly its just that Amanda was "too tired" to remember anything. She can only remember what others said to hurt her feelings, but has sudden amnesia and can't remember what she may have said to bring about such a response? So she can't even remember the entire exchange, just what others said to her out of the blue. She can't remember anything she might have said to bring about the comments? That just seems odd to me. It would seem more realistic to me that if you're awake enough to remember those comments that others made to you, you can probably remember what you may have said to bring out the response. But what you said may make you look bad so suddenly you were just "too tired." And understand - I'm not saying that it didn't go down the way you said. But given that we didn't see what happened, that we were pretty much only given one sided explanations by Amanda, and that at least Char seems reasonable and down to earth, I find the entire thing very suspicious.
-
And I think thats the point I really wanted to make is that we will never know the real truth. But I know in my real life in general, I'm always suspicious of people who say someone just "told them something out of the blue." Generally, if you ask the other party, you'll find out that maybe wasn't entirely the case.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Yes, let me begin this post by saying that Frankie does...indeed...blow Your father sounds hilarious. But seriously, almost every bride I've known who has had a huge wedding has had so much stress leading up to the day it hardly seems worth it. I think some website maybe theknot, has a list of everything you have to do to prepare for a wedding......its like 2,000 steps! If I really want to be the center of attention I can go dance on top of a bar somewhere. Although, from what I've heard, if you had your beautiful wedding for $15k, you made out pretty good. I knew someone who spent like $60k on a wedding. I was like "listen, for those prices, you can never get divorced, you'll just have to kill her if you want out. Awwww...thats sweet. I do think some of the credit goes to your boots though...she was probably like "look at this handsome devil in these boots! I gotta lock this guy down!" And Frankie blows. -
Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
RealityGal replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
My goodness, that would have been the BEST. The absolute best. I wish and hope that happens. And I hope it ends with someone getting a guitar smashed over their head. Not only that, a lot of people go into debt to have an elaborate wedding. Thats why I always tell people...if I get married it will be on a Tuesday morning in the middle of the backwoods. That way I get lots of gifts and I don't have to feed people. Holla! -
If you get bored you can always cut the feet off your black and tan pantyhose and do a production of Amos n' Andy. Wow, I suddenly like Scarlett Johannsenn!
-
I've always said that I can only see what the producers show me, so I have to take that as fact, but the mean girl looks to each other have always seemed a little suspect because you can paste one persons random look with another persons random look and make it look like they are exchanging mean girl looks. And as I've said, I don't neccessarily think Char's TH was an admission of anything other than that she understood Amanda's position. All things considered, I think the designers probably go back to GW at night and bitch and get catty about everything. I think its unreasonable to focus on what one person said another person said and not straight out have them defend or explain or add context to whatever they said. And thats how the Amanda situation went down and thats part of what makes me awfully suspicious about it. Not only did they allow her to explain both "fights" from her point of view in the TH, they never had a TH from Char or Korina devoted to exactly what they said, what the context was, and why they said it. I know Char said a little, but it certainly wasn't the time they devoted to Amanda explaining herself not only in the TH, but to Fade, in two scenes, who was just listening. So thats three times when Amanda was talking about a conflict only from her point of view. I don't think either Char or Korina got the same amount of time to explain their side of the story. Even when Ken was going nuts, most clearly going nuts with his facemask on and his bootie shorts in his hands....even then Tim seemed to get both sides of the story. And Ken barely had a side of the conflict, but whatever he had to say they got it, whatever Alexander had to say, they got it. But we didn't even know the context, and no, they wouldn't tape it, I get that, but neither Char nor Korina were even allowed to explain the context, their tone, or what happened from their point of view. I agree with Fade, something had to set them off, I don't think a reasonable person would just say something like that to a person who just walked in the room and was minding their own business. I get suspicious when someone presents a story in which everyone is acting unreasonably except them. I mean, it happens, sometimes people are just unreasonable assholes. Its very true, but more often than not a conflict is something that is a back and forth, and so I'm suspicious when Amanda presents the story as "here I was, minding my own business, just living my life, and these two girls come out of the blue and are mean to me!"
-
If I said I "understood" someone better in that context, it just may mean I harbored a private resentment that had gone away because I better understood their position. There have been times where I've privately disliked someone...in fact, I can think of someone right now who annoys me to death, and I'm not in a position to ever tell him about it, but something could happen that would make me understand his position better, and I think I would say something simliar to what Char said in her TH. So, I don't know that it requires having said something to someone to say that you understand them better. As for mocking Amanda to her face, I don't specifically remember that moment (and I don't generally re-watch episodes) but I do know that they all joke and play in the workroom, and the joking is quite often catty from what I remember of the show. I do know that Char did say something about Amanda in last week's TH. But I don't think we can truly understand what Char may have said to Amanda as it regards the "you're taking wins from everyone else" because, while I don't think Amanda would straight up lie about Char having said something, we haven't heard the context, the tone, or even the exact words. However, having said that, I totally agree with you about the TG save. I think it should have been saved for someone who was producing wonderful work but had an off day, or at least for someone who was taking fashion risks and one of them just happened to go wrong. I love Fade's work, but I fear at some point Nina will proclaim that its not appropriate for instagram, twitter or snapchat and therefore is much too matronly, and it won't be short enough for Heidi and they will send him home for something. Or Kini will just have another off day. Char wasn't producing anything that was all that fashion forward or awesome, and in fact, I thought he had just told her he would save her later in the competition just to be nice.

I don't think we ever saw her make any comments to Amanda, we heard Amanda telling us what Char said to her, only from Amanda's POV, without any context. IIRC
-
but what a cover that would be! Zac pretending to be gay so he can get handsy with models. It sounds like the premise for an 80's movie, although he would have to be outed as a straight guy and find love in the end. Oh wait, didn't Cuba Gooding Jr. do a movie about that where he was on a cruise or something?
