  1. I absolutely wondered about this, and feel it was negligent of the show to not address it in some introductory/expository way like they did with all the other stuff they had to catch us up on from last season. I soooo loved that line! The part I found most interesting about that was that even in his version, he was rude and insensitive...he immediately ordered a drink from some random server and launched into something about the trampoline at his house, and didn't ask one thing about how the kids were doing. I was struck how in both versions, it's acknowledged that they both went into a bathroom designed for just one gender. I cannot imagine doing that to other people just so I can carry on my (unpleasant) conversation with someone. Neither of them seemed to think it was weird, and it indicated their serious boundaries problem with each other. Yes, very very odd...not sure why they felt that casting decision was so essential. When she first said something about feeding her children or whatever, I went through a thought process of is this woman the true mother of one of Helen's kids?...wouldn't we have known something about this plot development?...then, I thought maybe this woman is a family friend and is considered like a mother to the kids? Finally I figured it out. I hate how they keep writing things like this into the story. It doesn't serve any purpose other than whatever hard-on the creators/writers have for the Noah character. Same with his savior thing. Ugh, please stop. I like him too, except that I don't think they have fleshed out at all how his miraculous turn-around into a super dad, family man came about. Did.not.miss Alison's presence in this episode. I do like the dual perspective thing, even if it is gimmicky and not plot-related. But it makes me wonder how this works IRL, in terms of the amount of difference in recall, since to me their differences are huge...which person used the bathroom, did Noah grab a drink from a try or order one, the one from a few seasons ago where Helen remembered taking a cab but Noah remembered she walked (or something like that). In my life, when I've been discussing something mundane with a family member, we have never had such huge differences in recall. I can't figure out if the writers think this is normal to have such significant differences, or if they're making a point that these people are whack!
  2. I found it so for past unbelievable that Barbara would do such a 180 on how she felt about her ex. If I understand correctly, that he slept with her best friend (sister?) while they were married, and she carried a lot of anger about it ever since, then it is inconceivable to me that she would want to sleep with him now, even if she was subconsciously looking for a way to sabotage her current relationship. I like Mike a lot, but I think that having an entire family move in with Abby's family, when it's just a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, is ill-advised. And it just makes me want to hate the writers, and Abby's character, for having her break her "I love you, move in with me" news to Mike while they were standing on the red carpet. I agree about the awfulness of how Jo is treating her employees. I believe that she would have long ago hired some managers, so that she didn't have to deal with all that crap. At the least, Albert should have spoken up when he heard her talking that way. I don't know what to think about Delia. On the one hand, I get her change of heart about having a kid, but on the other hand, I so don't. I just can't with Phoebe. And what was all the urgency at the red carpet event, with having all the gals have to pull away from what they were doing, and saying that Delia is feeling faint and all that, just because she had received a ring and didn't know what to do? It makes all of them seem to have no more maturity than your average group of high school girls. Yes, I hate watch!
  3. This...a thousand times! Also, are the writers trying to make us hate Charles? The fact that his disappointment about Liza clouded his judgment so much that he apparently wasn't going to take the company-saving deal that Liza arranged, and it took Diana's mentioning of selling her condo before he snapped out of it, has actually made me do a 180, and now I want her and Josh back together, because he clearly can't even think clearly enough to make proper business decisions let alone personal ones. The approach that the writers have taken, of the constant will-they-or-won't-they of the Liza/Charles relationship, has backfired with me, because I keep thinking that IRL they would have had a real conversation at some point, and would either be doing what they could to actually be together or deciding not to pursue anything at all. So now I'm all-in for Liza and Josh (I think...at least at this point)!
  4. So the most absolutely disappointing part for me, is that each of the (3?) times that we have seen Charles and Liza kiss/make out, it has not been hot...at all. They have a lot of chemistry when they aren't doing anything physical, but for whatever reason, they don't kiss well. I remember telling my husband after seeing the making out in the office, that it looked they were acting like they were making out,..lots of moving arms and hands, but no actual chemistry. I remember also being so disappointed in that kiss in the clothing store where Liza was working for awhile. I have never seen either actor kiss any other actors, so I can't say whose "fault" it is, but their kisses just don't quite hit it.
  5. One thing I noticed was that when Becca was kissing Lincoln, her kisses looked fairly closed-lipped and brief compared to when she kissed everyone else...and she was also initiating a lot of the kissing with people. She definitely initiated and maneuvered herself for the against-the-wall kiss with Blake. I think I remember noticing that Rachel initiated a lot of the kissing too. I also couldn't help but reflect on how offended we would all be, and rightly so, if a Bachelor had insisted that the women get dressed in front of him, so I didn't feel it was OK for production to insist that Becca have the guys change clothes in front of her (since I doubt it was her idea). I was really liking Becca until this whole over-reaction with Colton and Tia. I understand why it might be of some concern that Colton had dated Tia, but to have it make her feel sick when she found out, and to still be so distraught the next day? That's just far too drama-ish and over-indulgent.
  6. I thought she showed every bit of 40+ in the opening scenes, and remarked to myself that this is getting beyond ridiculous. But I thought her face looked very fresh when dressed up in the costume. I have no idea what was up with the blouse Kelsey was wearing when she confronted Charles. It looked like you could see through to something green (?) underneath, but not in an intentionally-see-through way. It was also bulky and didn't do Hilary any favors.
  7. I'm glad to hear that other (sane) people have TV boyfriends! (Mine is/was Mark Harmon, but I'm struggling with the whole pit-bull-and-Pauley-Perrette thing.) But I truly love the idea of breaking up with an (imaginary) TV boyfriend before even learning his name!!
  8. For the first episode, our comments had been about how conflict-free the first night was, with no loud drunks, fights, etc. So now it really felt to me like producer-manufactured drama, with Picture-gate and Date-gate.
  9. Based on the extended footage that some of the men got before the limo exits, I had written down Clay as a favorite, because he seemed like a sincere, nice, mature guy who was pretty good looking. But as the night progressed, I crossed him out. I think it's because he seemed too bland and generic, devoid of any real personality or spark. And like maybe he was doing/saying things because he thought he should, and not because he actually was feeling anything about it.
  10. I noticed that too, and wondered how many people would end up commenting on it. It cannot have been by accident, but I couldn't figure a good reason for TPTB to have her do that. Yes, the one who looks like Eric is Jean Blanc, the "Colognoisseur." In Blake's Bachelor head shot, he resembles James Franco in the face (not hair). Chris (the tattletale) looks so much like Ben Stiller. Connor definitely has the facial structure of JJ (past douche-y contestant). In Chicken David's Bachelor head shot, he resembles Tim Daly (the actor). In Trent's (hearse) Bachelor head shot, he resembles a less-good-looking version of Peter (Rachel's season). None of these guys grabbed my attention at all. Jordon was a super-douche but I really hope she keeps him around for the commentary, which I enjoyed.
  11. A few weeks ago I started watching this show because my college-age son's girlfriend recommended it. I was skeptical, because I thought it would be sitcom-ish with hijinks, kind of like Golden Girls. But I was pleasantly surprised watching the first season, as it was almost entirely relationship-centered. The second season continued with things that brought out aspects of Grace and Frankie's personalities, and there were things that made you think and reflect. But as the divorce/betrayal got farther in the rear-view mirror, the hijinks and typical sitcom stuff has ratcheted up big-time. It's almost as though the writers are reverting to typical sitcom fare, rather than remembering what made them successful for these characters and with the viewers in the first place. The problem is that idiocy only works as a plot device if it's consistent with the characters and the premise, like with "Three's Company". Fans of this show clearly like thinking and reflecting, and that's why we've had such problems with many of the plot devices, and the house sale in particular, along with the old/decrepit Grace and Frankie vs. the young/virile Robert and Sol. I sincerely hope the writers up their game next season, and revert to what made them successful in the first place.
  12. This episode was my first noticing a discontinuity. When Frankie and Sol are at the crib, and she cuts off the animals of the mobile which leaves the strings hanging, Sol makes a point about asking if the baby will just look up and see strings. So Frankie pulls out the replacements she wants to hang, and when she goes to hang them, there are no strings anymore.
  13. Just wanted to be clear about what I did say, versus what I did not say. I do not consider "a couple of days" to be "long", especially since in the show, I believe they specifically mentioned the word "months" to Tim when he said he wasn't going to leave.
  14. Not my primary objection. I would have the same objection if it was for a male. It's the concept of abandoning (yes, that is what it would be, if it went for long) his spouse and children, especially a spouse who is paralyzed from the waist down and has two newborn/toddlers (not sure which at this point), in order to perform no particular healing activity at the bedside.
  15. OMG this 2-parter worked my last nerve. I like this show, I really really do, but when they strain credulity this many times, and this deeply, it's just exasperating: I could definitely understand Marissa leaving the note and coming to the conclusion that she needs to leave, based on what she realized in therapy. But her going to retrieve it and tear it up, when nothing different had occurred with Bull than happens at any other time, just didn't make sense. I could have understood it, if she sort of acknowledged Bull's brilliance/justice-providing/righting of wrongs (or whatever it is that attracts her), and then acknowledged to herself that if she's going to stay, she has to change the dysfunctional dynamic...that would have shown growth and been believable, but this just makes her look flighty and not willing to stick up for herself and her convictions. Not sure what to make of the reaming that Marissa gave Bull...it was true, he heeded it, but only for a few days, then is presumably back to boozing it up, overeating, and not sleeping enough, and all is well? The girlfriend never said that the prosecutor offered her protection only if she changed the time from 8:15 to 9:15; Benny concluded that. If the prosecutor simply offered protection for her testifying, then I think that's OK. But let's assume that she was offered that deal as a bribe to lie, which is what the show was clearly implying. How on earth could it not be gross prosecutorial misconduct to bribe a witness to change their story and lie under oath? But really, the prosecutor's staff would have concluded just as Bull's team did, that she was a flake who would crumble under oath; she would never have appeared as a witness. The reason given why the neighbor woman didn't mention the limp before, is that "they didn't ask". But neither did Dani; the woman simply volunteered the info in her first or second info bits of speaking, which is realistically what would have happened when the police talked to her as well. As mentioned by Jack ONeill above, a security-minded person opening the door based on seeing a TAC badge? Yes, it was a needed plot device for the glasses, but actually bad on Bull's team for not having asked her, while she was testifying, whether she wears glasses or has any vision impediment, which is a standard question I've seen on many shows before.. Why on earth didn't Bull's team get in touch with the expert from Bull's law school before the penalty phase, to help prove their client innocent? There would not have been such a shocked murmur in the entire courtroom when the expert described the killer as a psychopath (but of course we needed it for "Chunk is right" purposes). During the voir-dire, there was that point where Bull was talking to Melissa on the earphone/headset for a very long amount of time, and nothing else was going on in the courtroom, yet the judge didn't say anything to him or Benny. And they never really explained why Bull was so dead set to use up all his jury member strikes when there were still 8 prospective jurors that hadn't been questioned at all. I know there's supposed to be callousness in the city, but the courthouse steps are more collegial...I find it very hard to believe that no one other than the original little boy would approach Bull while he's lying prostrate on the ground. Bull is a smart guy, and would undoubtedly have loosened his tie and shirt, and removed his jacket, if he thought he was having a heart attack. As mentioned by JessDVD above, the expert's opinion change towards Chunk was soooo predictable...and ridiculous on so many levels, not the least of which being that the expert's name would have been given to Chunk beforehand. They never really explained or did much with the mute guy's empathy towards Bull, and that whole "you are not alone" thing. The speed with which the FBI reached its conclusion, and decided to intervene, was absurd. IRL there would have been time needed for corroboration, related investigation, and official permission to take the intervening action. But sadly, there are so many cases IRL where exculpatory information is known and agreed to by all sides, yet the convicted person still remains convicted, and in jail, until and unless the right timing of appeals can occur. Not sure if we have seen Bull's ex/Benny's sis before, but she so didn't seem like someone Bull would be attracted to, let alone enough to marry, and especially to be so consumed with later.
  16. The show is set at the Navy Yard near the shores of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC. IRL, that is where the NCIS headquarters used to be...it's now in Quantico, VA, about 45 miles away. I live in the DC area, and the cost of her apartment depends on where it was located, which I don't think they told us. If it was in DC itself, and if she supposedly has been living in it since she started at NCIS, then I would find it highly implausible, either in terms of renting or buying, since her salary would not have been high enough. But many people who work in DC, live in the suburbs of Virginia or Maryland, and depending on where she lived, she could have bought a place of that size and torn down the interior walls (at least that's how the place looked to me). I don't see how she could have plausibly found a place to rent that had that configuration of living space, especially years ago when "open concept" wasn't yet a thing. Yeah, if I were a wheelchair-bound wife with twin newborns, Tim's decision would not go over well, especially when they were throwing around a timeframe of months, not days. And it's not like he could actually do something there that would make his presence vital to her recovery. But what I'm really puzzled about, is what was Abby planning to do with the the confession if Gibbs and the gang hadn't shown up? Did I miss something?
  17. I actually remember that song, now that I've played the video link Maverick so kindly provided us with...serious props for having the useless-memory-recall to enlighten us! The video is astoundingly cheesy, but super random that SNL would do a parody now from a 1986 not-that-popular video. I found the Melissa bad-at-talking-dirty sketch much funnier last time, and not just because I knew the premise this time. I think it worked better last time because I recall there being more development within each mini-scenario, especially one where she seemed to be doing well at the dirty talk, and then just slayed it with a terrible response. Donald Glover was excellent as the disturbed Barbie employee.
  18. I still cannot believe that Pastor Cal was trying to push Molly and Jon together. It makes me despair for the advice he is giving in his pastoral counseling. A pastor's words are powerful in a church, and I imagine there are some very sad and unhappy people being abused in all kinds of ways (especially the subtle and unprovable ways), but sticking it out in their marriage because Pastor Cal said so, and everyone around them buys into that.
  19. It's not just the abundance of food...it's the "I want it/I deserve it" immediate gratification mentality, and the intolerance for anything that's uncomfortable (uncomfortable in this case being denying gratification). A McDonald's hamburger has 250 calories. But the point that Kid was making was "you need to learn what foods are your triggers and avoid those". Eating nothing for months would f*ck with their metabolism and f*ck with their adjustment in their life after the surgery, since they would have had no practice at all with eating in moderation and eating healthy.
  20. Keep in mind that we don't know that Jon started the fight...Molly said that. And we already know that Molly lied to not-Dr. Pepper, so there's every reason to believe that she was lying about this too.
  21. Neurochick, you made my day with the Mr Rogers reference...I love him (RIP)! The lyrics you were thinking of are, "Sometimes people are good, and they do just what they should. But the very same people who are good sometimes, are the very same people who are bad sometimes." And regarding the Jon/crude stuff from early on in their relationship, I just realized something. His best friend is a girl who is basically "one of the guys" and is probably very into his crudeness. So it would be understandable if that was his model for how you relate to a girl you're going to be close to.
  22. I laughed out loud when I read the "Lil Now-Now" name... I love it!!!! Hi Maricopa. I'm no doctor, but if you are 5'6" and 150 lbs and a doctor is telling you that you need to get down to 125, then I would strongly urge you to not see that doctor anymore, or to at least have him/her explain why they want you to be so far to the low end of normal weight for your height. I wonder if something was edited out of that meeting. I think the woman gave good advice about starting out at churches and other local organizations. It's too bad she also seemed to imply that earning a living from motivational speaking was a reasonable possibility for Melissa. Maybe we missed all the context in-between. Absolutely!! I don't for a second believe that she gained 100 lbs from the pregnancy...I believe she gained 100 lbs during the pregnancy,
  23. Just wanted to add that my favorite line was when Bettie Jo told someone (the therapist?) that she couldn't eat breakfast or lunch because she has a 9-month old!
  24. OMG, I have not been watching Unfiltered, but just saw the clip that was posted, and Jamie looks terrible! I always thought she was a very pretty girl, but the dark hair parted down the middle and plastered to her head, is a terrible look for her. I think that the reason she is wearing the mauve tablecloth is that it appears she has gained an enormous amount of weight (for her...not that her current weight makes her enormous), and she thinks the tablecloth hides it..but all it does is accentuate it.
  25. In this case, I don't see how it could be smell, because she seems to have no problem being in close quarters with him (car, bar, etc), which would be too difficult if there was that offensive a smell to her. I've also wondered about her kiss at the altar, where she didn't seem to have a problem with physical affection to him. So either she was attracted to him then, and for whatever reason (perceived immaturity, etc.) lost the attraction, or she never was attracted and put on a good show because this is where people (both IRL and viewers) would form their first impression and she damn well wanted that to be good.
