  1. I get the impression from this episode (and one before it, which I can't remember who it was) that these adults are annoyed about how their parents treated their obesity in childhood, because the parents were focused on "How can we get the child to eat less?" instead of "What is the reason behind why the child is eating so much?" In pretty much every case we've ever seen, there is some childhood trauma or hurt that contributed to the child developing an eating problem, and I think that as kids (and now as adults) they resent that the parents weren't talking to them about what was going on in their lives at the time. Actually, "being on a diet" isn't necessarily related at all to portion control. From what we've seen with most of the cases, being on a diet has usually meant subsisting on some weird combination of a few permitted foods. Almost never have we seen someone that in their past has "dieted" as meaning balanced meals in reasonable proportions. Maybe they had proper portions as a child, but that was awhile ago and when someone else was doing it for them. If you've been overeating for a long time, I totally can see just having no idea of proper portions...we've seen it time and time again on this show. And if you're now eating what your family ate when you were growing up, with an almost total lack of awareness of food content, it's a "recipe" for failure. I totally agree that a nutritionist should be the first step, which should be followed closely by a therapist, and then a trainer, before these patients waste their many, many months (and the months of their friends and family) failing/flailing. Yes! I think in her case it really was about inertia and "this is how I've always done it" (or "not done it" as the case may be). If someone had come to her home and made specific suggestions about activities and exercises she could do around the house, I suspect she might have done them (especially if they could have hooked her up with an accountability partner in her same situation) if for no other reason than to relieve the boredom.
  2. LOVED the "tooth-to-tattoo" ratio! Yes, it's too bad, because I so prefer the ones with "normal" people where we can focus on the heart of the eating-related problem, without being distracted by the unsupportive spouse, or house overrun with cats, etc
  3. Insider rant, here...early in the episode one of them mentioned the "tri-state area". That is the term most famously used for NY, NJ, and Conn, which is def not where this show takes place. Nobody in the "DMV" (District of Columbia, MD, and VA) would ever call it the tri-state area (yes, I know that DC is not a state). And if they were talking about VA, MD, and WV, that's still not called the tri-state area.
  4. My biggest problem was the very first scene, when the lawyer was in the house the morning after the murder. The only way to compel someone to "come to the station" is to arrest them, and because there had been zero investigation up to that point, then there is no way on earth that the police had any grounds the next morning to arrest her...and the lawyer DAMN SURE would have known that.
  5. What I don't understand is how on earth the "experts" ever chose Jephte to be a match for anyone, given that it is highly unlikely he showed much personality in the interviews. Many of the posters here have said that the experts make matches to stir up trouble, not to find soul mates...but even if that is true, they still need their "cast members" to show some life to hold the viewers' interest. He is just a disaster for this show (not saying in real life there isn't a match for him, but he's not teevee material!).
  6. On the Becca cinderella date, he spoke to her exactly as he did to Seinne, and to almost all of the women when he interacts with them one-on-one...as if he were interacting with them at a lunch/dinner for a job interview. I have specifically noticed the difference many times in how he talks to Bekah, where he sounds like a normal person speaking to someone in a casual way.
  7. I think there is a feature on eBay that lets you choose a higher dollar max amount that you will let eBay automatically increase your bid up to, when someone else has equaled your bid. Yes, I absolutely noticed it at the time.
  8. So Mykelti wants to save money by having her mother make 7,000 flowers? That is literally insane. What were they for? Why did there need to be so many? How many did Mykelti help with? Wait, we know the answer to that one! I cannot imagine imposing on someone (especially my mother) like that. Holy sh*t that girl is entitled. Regarding the Janelle/Christine gaining weight thing...I have the opposite theory. I don't think he was ever attracted to Janelle, and he married her for reasons other than attraction/sex (her working and bringing home the bacon). But I think he found potential attraction with Christine, and that's why he was so bothered by how she ate nachos and by her gaining weight.

  10. What the actual f*ck is wrong with that bat-sh*t crazy woman? I would rather watch slow-clapping man (biggest Catfish disaster I could remember) for 24 hours straight than watch that personification of a train-wreck/dumpster-fire for even 10 seconds.
  11. Love the name "Tokelti" because it sooo doesn't work as one of those cute, mash-up names!
  12. "Training" is definitely the operative word. She has clearly been muddling along at "sales" without any training (whether formal or informal).. Yes. She also needs more simulations and one-on-one coaching to accompany the training. And probably a few sessions with a psychologist to help her move past whatever underlying reasons are making her deal with failure the way she is. For this business, I'm not sure that a standard salesperson is what they need. I think they need someone who knows the product inside and out like she does. I actually think she has potential, but she's not quite there yet.
  13. Some of these comments may have been posted already, but I had to list my hall of shame for the episode. In no particular order: Kodouche's egotism has no bounds. He had to make Maddie and Caleb's baby news (first grandchild!) all about him by saying how he now wants to have another child. Ewww. I wonder if the idiot wives have even paid any attention to the lyrics of "I Will Survive". The only legit reason for them to choose that particular song for Mykelti's bridal shower, is to convey a subtle/not-subtle message to her about how they'll be there to support her when she decides tell FT to "go, walk out the door, don't turn around now, 'cause you're not welcome anymore". If that's not their goal, then get a clue. Although it was a tiny snippet of a scene, and easy to overlook, the scene at the taco tasting table with FT shoving Mykelti out of the way so he can take the seat that she wanted, was really disturbing. Multiply that by 1,000 and that's what Mykelti can look forward to in her daily life with FT. It was also quite odd when FT took off his wedding ring, because first of all I'm surprised that no one had noticed he was wearing one already, but also he just kind of threw it onto the table and asked if anyone wanted to see it. His stated reason for already wearing one -- to show that he that he is "taken" -- was not, I suspect, for Mykelti's benefit but for his ego's. I join those who are feeling dirty that we side with Kodouche about the business concerns with the purchase of this stupid inn/B&B, which Meri by her own admission said she isn't interested in for the business, but because she wants the home back in the family. Which brings me to the sentiment that best encapsulates everything that is wrong with the whole entire Brown Clown clan. Meri said something like, "If the wives could see how much this means to me, they wouldn't poop all over the idea with logic." That's their mantra -- "I want it, so I deserve to have it"...and logic/consequences be damned. (see Exhibit 1, Mykelti's wedding behavior) (see Exhibits 2-infinity with bankruptcies, liens, vanity store project, Robin's honeymoon to Hawaii, etc.)
  14. Yes indeed.....that's why I think that there's a (probably subconscious) desire for thinner sister to stay in that position vis-a-vis her fatter sister, so she is sabotaging in actuality (buying the bad food) while trying to make herself look good in the voiceover saying something about Chitoka knows better than to ask for any of the foods from the banned foods list. If barbecued chips are on the acceptable list (which I think is what thinner sister was calling Chitoka about from the store), then it doesn't sound like the banned list is much of a hardship.
  15. I absolutely thought that Carlos was going to be killed as he was sitting in front of the hospital. And for awhile, I thought Tanner's ex-wife was also going to be killed at the same time, since he told her to go ahead over to the area with Carlos, while he was still in the car. But then I figured this show isn't known for being super-dark. What was the point of having Tanner walk in the opposite direction from the gathering with Carlos at the end? Is this show really cancelled, and we will not find out who killed Mia? I really enjoyed this show, and will miss it!
  16. ITA, and well-worded. Probably the most engrossing episode I've seen, with enjoyable plot twists the whole way through. Also liked Chunk and Dani's quick thinking at the restaurant. But it does bring into question Bull's perceptive abilities by having been fooled by his colleague for all these years...
  17. Yes! If you remember, after all the vetting was done and the "experts" had whittled the candidates down to 25 or however many, and they were sitting in front of that couples-matching screen, I believe that Dr. Pepper proposed matching a black woman (Shawniece maybe) with another black man. But Pastor Cal said that was not a good match, because the guy had said he only dated Hispanics (or something like that), so this would not be fair to the woman to be matched with someone whose preference is going to be not like her. How effing dumb/clueless would Dr. Pepper be to suggest that match? It shows she was not paying any attention at all to what the candidate said, and to all that "scientific" stuff they brag about, and only saw it as a generic combination of black girl/black guy who had made it this far. As stupid as this sounds, it was at that point that I really lost faith in the show. I came to understand that the extensive questionnaire they fill out, is really just to weed out undesirables and winnow down the contestant pool. And then the important part of the "experts matching" actually just comes down to having a handful of remaining contestants that they basically slice-and-dice in random combinations on an expert's whim.
  18. I don't think that people in the audience were reacting to the reference to a seasons-ago same-named couple on this franchise. I think they were reacting to what we here had noticed but were confused about from episode 1, which was some reference before the wedding to the name "Ryan". I had thought that either Jaclyn or someone at her bachelorette party said something like they had a feeling about the name Ryan.
  19. I could have sworn that a few episodes back, we were all talking about how the Don King look-alike lawyer, had looked completely different at that big meeting with AllSourcer about Sara, and looked so much better...(IIRC he was bald?). Anyway, now he's back to having his Don King hair...what gives?
  20. Quite a few of the posters here have a dislike of Monica Potter, who plays Tanner's ex-wife. I had never seen her in anything before. But boy do I have a serious negative impression of her after having watched her in the most recent episode of The Profit on CNBC, http://www.cnbc.com/live-tv/the-profit/full-episode/monica-potter-home/1115218499947?trknav=videodetail:3_fullepisodes:0:100788798. It is the actual person Monica Potter, not her in an acting role, as she deals with the business that she apparently runs with her family, called Monica Potter Home. Dumpster fire, is all I can say.
  21. I don't think the church bells were supposed to symbolize something...they were just a plot device so that Cable could mention Christmas out loud, and it could jar Marissa to think of Christmas as an occasion that Kyle would be coming back to his home in the U.S. for, so she could arrange for him to be arrested.
  22. At some point, Theresa said she was just a country bumpkin and no one told her much, so I took that to mean that she had sex at age 12 but had no idea that that's what led to getting pregnant.
  23. Now this is causing me to wonder if maybe there really wasn't anything in the contract requiring all contact to stop at age 5. Given that the adoptive mother was so open about communication, you'd think that if that clause really had been in the contract, she would have had no problem telling Dakota.
  24. It's not just the Vanilla Bean flavor that has 10 grams of sugar per serving...it's all of them, and it shows on the nutritional label. I'm guessing that there are other products on the market whose sugar also comes from something(s) in the ingredients and therefore could also claim to be "zero added sugar". But these ladies sure seemed to be implying that there wasn't any sugar. I sooo hated that this is what constituted a business update. They've aired a few others like that, and all it makes me think is that the product isn't doing well and that's why all they could show for themselves was a lame community charity event that certainly didn't need a shark's thousands behind it.
  25. Yeah, very inconsistent in terms of who these characters would actually be, for them to think that the workers would be surprised to find out about the relationship, But actually, on the other hand, I could also see them being so egotistical that they think, ooh, we're so good at being secretive.
