Thanks all for the updates. Way more better than actually watching! I think the worst thing tonight was his saying he might not accept the results. Honestly, that's throwing over the whole concept of this great country. Oy... Go Cubs! -

I'm close enough to walk. I've never missed an election in my entire life. Not even the 2 for the special county council replacements. -

I kinda like voting on election day. I used to work the polls, but the past few times, I've just enjoyed the voting part. -

Sapphire Hill 2012 Rubino red blend. I'm watching baseball. I can't watch these things. Poor Mr ebk is watching in the upstairs office. I'll just enjoy reading along with all of you! Let me know if I need to turn the channel - thanks!! :-) -
The Legislative Branch: I'm So Sick of Congress I Could Vomit
ebk57 replied to Bastet's topic in Current Events & Politics
Another DC area native here. I lived in the District for 3 years, but grew up in Silver Spring. When I was able to move into the city, I really had to consider that this would mean I was giving up my Congressional representation. I finally decided that being closer to the action (and work) was the key. Then I met Mr ebk and moved back to Silver Spring. Ah well... All the Congressional meddling in DC affairs is just so frustrating. And as for Metro, the less said, the better. Because it makes me incredibly sad and angry. I hope the Congress, or at least the Senate, goes Dem. In theory, divided government should work. In practice lately, it doesn't. -

The Supremes: The Court, not the Singers!

I think he's allowed to withdraw the nomination. So if discusses it with Hillary and she doesn't want him, he can withdraw Garland before the Senate can confirm him. I think... -
I can't wait to get the NYT delivered this weekend. Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect
ebk57 replied to Notwisconsin's topic in Current Events & Politics
I find it sad and somewhat ironic that the Drumpf-ers are yelling about election terrorism in relation to the NC headquarters incident, and yet that's exactly what they are promoting with the whole "poll watcher" bullshit. I keep asking Mr ebk if I should take election day off, and after I vote, drive to Philly and watch the watchers. I know that's a bad idea, but I keep thinking we should do it.- 8.1k replies

Here's a good column from today's WaPo about the leaked transcripts of the speeches. (And yes, I am outraged about these leaks from a foreign government and that asshole Assange) https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/10/17/i-read-hillary-clintons-speeches-to-goldman-sachs-heres-what-surprised-me-the-most/?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-f%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.ea76ce1a5da7

Loved the Drumpf women (and Mike Pence!) and the Melania Moments sketches, and the debate open. And Weekend Update. The other bits were fun, not great, but not awful. And I love Bruno Mars!! Oh, the hamsters doing Virginia Woolf was brilliant and really weird. And all so the kid could end up with a dog.

Pretty good game. A little long, but good. KoB, I agree about the sound issues. I was wondering if they dropped the crowd sounds if there was audible cursing nears the mics. There was one point that we could still hear Joe Buck, but it was silent in the background. And we need noise to cover Buck...

I am informed by my Cubs-fanatic friend that it was John Vincent.

Ah well...it was fun while it lasted. Sorta.

Mr ebk thinks that's the date that one of his (Drumpf's, not Mr ebk's :-) ) trials is supposed to start, so he had it on his mind. Which is fine with me...- 8.1k replies

Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect

The NYT just published a story from two more women coming forward about groping http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/us/politics/donald-trump-women.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 And one more thing - the government is not a business, nor should it be run like one. Even if he were a successful businessman (which all evidence says he's not), you can't run the government like that. This is a common misperception that the government has to make a profit. No, it's there to serve the populace.- 8.1k replies

It was Trevor Noah. And it's great. I just want to say that I'm glad we have unlimited "likes" on this forum, because I like so much of what you all are saying. -
I'm not a mod, but I love reading all the thoughts and opinions here. You all are my peeps! It's just that I don't want this thread to go away, so I'm wondering if there's a way to express all the outrage while still focusing on the networks and network people that are bringing it to us. (Personally, this whole thing is making me sick, so I'll be watching baseball tonight). Hope you all don't take this the wrong way. And I hope the mods don't take it the wrong way either (board on boards or something-don't mean it like that). I just like this thread and want it to stay around.

Has MTV stopped carrying this show? TV Land isn't an HD channel on my TV, so I've been watching the delayed broadcasts on whatever MTV channel it was on. But I don't see it listed anymore. Boo!
