LSSC: Season One All Episodes Talk
ebk57 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I would say that she would definitely be around a size 8 in today's size 8's. Back in my day (kids, get off my lawn!), a size 8 was smaller. She would probably have been a 12 or 14 back then. But today, I have no problem believing she's an 8. I do have to say that although I did answer this, I'm a little uncomfortable doing so. I think she looks great and it doesn't matter what size she wears. -

Two things that changed before broadcast: Amy asked that the camera zoom in to the picture of her and Beyonce so we could see her witch face. And they couldn't seem to do it to her requirements, so she picked up the picture and put it right in front of a camera. It seems that they fixed that for broadcast. Which it too bad, because it was funny. And they obviously cut the part where Stephen stopped the show because he forgot to ask Michaela about her job at the restaurant across the street. That was a good bit. As Stephen was backing up the aisle during the closing of the show, the audience and music were so loud that I had no idea what he was saying until I watched it last night. Even though we were at the far end of a row on the aisle he used. It was fun. I hope I get tickets to Seth Meyers at the Warner in DC in October. -

Brief synopsis: Got there about 2:40 and the line was only to the corner. When we checked in, they saw Mr ebk uses a cane, so we got early entry. Yay! They were late getting everyone in because the theatre was really hot. I guess after 2 weeks off, it take a while to cool down. I was surprised because I know Dave always kept the place at icebox temps. We were sitting about 10 or so rows from the front, way over on the side where the desk is. So I don't think we got caught on camera. Another yay! The warmup guy, Paul Mercurio came out and gave us the spiel about how we're important to the show and we need to be loud and enthusiastic. They make you work for your free entertainment. He brought up 3 groups of people (separately) and fortunately, he picked people who were kinda funny. Especially the couple that's been married for 33 years and live in separate houses. That was unintentionally funny. Then the band came out. They are phenomenal. Truly. I'd love to see them in concert. Stephen came out and took questions. A couple of dumb ones, then someone asked what the strangest thing was that ever happened to him on the streets of NY. He said he never goes out on the streets of NY anymore. But then he told a story about a Daily Show piece he did in Arizona in a senior citizens community. He met a guy who, it turns out, went to school with his dad. And he and Stephen's dad double dated. He told Stephen that he knew his mom...which made us all think that perhaps he was dating Stephen's mom... Then he took Stephen in to his house and gave him the page in his high school yearbook with Stephen's dad's picture - which he now has framed in his office. It was really sweet. The monologue was good. The desk bit was really funny. Amy Schumer was fine. Omari Hardwick is very nice looking. Michaela Watkins was charming. At the end of her segment, they stopped the show and Stephen said he forgot to ask her something, so they started again and he asked. I hope that all gets on the air because it was quite funny. All in all, a fine time was had! Did I mention the band is fabulous?!? Oh, and the theatre is stunning!!- 1.6k replies

Going to the taping this afternoon. Looking forward to it! I'll try to report back, but since I have a memory like a sieve, I'd have to take copious notes in order to write anything that makes sense and I'm not sure that taking copious notes is how I want to spend the afternoon. But I'll try. -
So...the Os game started out well, then quickly went bad. Very bad. We've changed our minds again and will now go to the Os/Yankees game next Friday. Provided I can find some reasonably priced tickets. Since the Yankees have made up with StubHub, I'm hoping for the best.

I was going to ask if the Dear World was the one with Tyne Daly, but I just looked it up, and it's not. My upcoming trip (starting tomorrow!!!!!): Tomorrow night - American in Paris; Sunday afternoon - Curious Incident; Monday evening - The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; Tuesday - Coney Island, ending with a Cyclones baseball game; Wednesday afternoon - Hamilton!!!; Wednesday evening - dinner at Keen's; Thursday evening - Fun Home; Friday evening - Yankees/Os; Saturday - home. Can not wait!

I took a tour of the stadium this past January (while Mr ebk was working, which is why we might be there again next summer). The 'head museum is kinda neat. I saw many 'heads that I also own. I'm not sure what that means, but it must mean something. As far as the official count goes, we don't count taking tours, only seeing games. And to get even more OCD, we went to the Orange Bowl back when the Terps played (and I use that term loosely), but couldn't really count Joe Robbie Stadium until we saw a baseball game there. And we did manage to suffer through a baseball game there once.

Horrible? I'd say it's required! Because...baseball!! If I was going to be home, I'd invite myself up to enjoy the game with you! Raises hand!! (Sorry if I already posted this...) I've been to every stadium that was open since about the mid 80s, when I started taking in baseball games on theatre trips. We only have 4 (or 3 and a half) to go of the new ones - San Diego, Miami, St Louis and Kansas City (we've been, but they've renovated since then, so why not go back?!?) We may be able to hit Miami next summer. Favorite old park - Fenway. Favorite new park - Pittsburgh.

I'll be there all week. Come and see the Cyclones with us on the 23rd! And do let me know when you're next in Baltimore. Love to catch a game with you.
-
Had those a couple of years ago on one of our winter trips...delish! This time, we're going for my birthday. The only certain thing is I'll be drinking some wine :-)
-
Yes!!! I bought tickets waaaaay back in October and the first show I could find was a Wednesday matinee on August 24th. Soon - finally!!! So we're just going for the entire week. Because, why not. I was sure we could get Mets or Yankees tickets early in the week, but nooooooo. So we'll have to content ourselves with Colbert tickets, Cyclones tickets and 4 more shows. And dinner at Keen's!

I'm guessing the only place to get the Smith Island cake at Camden Yards is on the club level. Or in the restaurant. Besides, who wants cake at a baseball game. And in case it matters, there's bacon on a stick in Baltimore, too. Not just...wherever they listed it. I will definitely look for the carne asada fries at Petco when we get there. And I wish I'd known about the deep fried Almond Joys in Oakland. They could only have helped get me through that game a few weeks ago.
-
And opposite of that, there's usually one team home at all times. Except the week we're in NY. No teams home until Friday when both teams come back. Good thing we're really going up for theatre (and the Cyclones are home with a 'head giveaway!).

I'm going a week from Thursday. My sister is taking me for my birthday - yay! A bucket-list item checked off :-) I also enjoyed the NYT interview. I was especially amused at all of the corrections at the end.

I'm told the paint on the field congealed and became tar-like. hahahahahahahahahahahaha

I found the mute button works really well to allow for drooling over the furniture. (Over, not on)

Actually, Rio is an hour ahead of EDT. Compatible, yes, but not the same one.
-
ooooo....I may be able to actually watch the game tonight then. Although when the Os game starts...

We got Wade Miley. Yay!...? We got Steve Pearce back! Yay! Because now my bobblehead is wearing the right uni again. That deserves a Yay, right? I'm giving us a week and a half before we totally collapse. Sigh...

That game had a little bit of everything. What a wacky evening.

Zelda Fichandler, founder of Arena Stage here in DC, has died. I saw several plays there during my formative/misspent high school and college days. She was a remarkable person. https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/theater_dance/zelda-fichandler-arena-stage-co-founder-and-matriarch-of-regional-theater-movement-dies-at-91/2016/07/29/88566486-557b-11e6-bbf5-957ad17b4385_story.html?tid=a_inl

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I heard they do have 2 sets of throwbacks. And when the set they were supposed to wear was "damaged", they went to the second set. This comes from a friend, so I make no claim as to its veracity.

Wow, they really don't dust these hotel rooms in San Francisco well... Thanks for that, @attica Yesterday, I enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the Coliseum. The game was awful, but the beer was good. And, I got sunburned! Yippee......

And of course, I'm out of town...
