  1. I get that, and I deeply sympathize, but I still thought the comment was cruel. Because Leonard doesn't have any friends (that we've seen), and surely the photographer must realize that after spending time with him. Leonard appears to have a grand total of two people in his life, both of whom are basically forced to put up with him and neither of whom he can be honest with.
  2. Hi, everybody! I haven't been here in awhile. Between life stuff and kind of giving up on Show... Catching up on the thread, congrats on all the new jobs and the new puppy! What a cutie. The real gut clench for me was losing Merle Haggard. I knew he'd been sick, because I follow his son on social media, but somehow I still thought he'd live forever. I'll always regret not going to see him and Willie when they were on tour last fall. *sniffle*
  3. I always thought it was heavily implied that Lucious just said that to divert Reg's attention away from Jamal. When they were all giving him the side eye afterwards, he basically scoffed at them and said, "I just saved you." He also told the guy, "Jamal wouldn't touch her," which was clearly a lie, since Jamal absolutely thought he could be her dad.
  4. They just grabbed the wrong video. Camelia Somers plays/played Charlotte the intern.
  5. Agreed! I'm going to watch Wyatt telling Liam off a few (dozen) times before I take it off my DVR. Liam needs to stop stomping around like a petulant child. I don't blame him - like, at ALL - for being pissed and weirded out that his ex and his brother got married when he was "gone". But Steffy knows he wants her back. The ball is in her court at this point. She's not Liam's to take back, and she's not Wyatt's to give. Ick. Plus, how stupid is Liam to not ask, "oh, I broke up with you? WHY?" I don't buy that Liam of all people whould ever just gloss over that point. What if she had, say, slept with Wyatt (which is truly what he thought)? He wouldn't care about that? Bull. KM was gorgeous in that dress, and she was cracking me up in that conversation with Bill, Caroline, and Thomas. It's amazing how much less Maya sucks when she's away from Rick. Unfortunately, Katie had to be sacrificed to make that happen. If Ridge and Caroline want to keep their secret, maybe Caroline should stop bugging her eyes whenever Thomas says "dad" or "father". And maybe they shouldn't engage in a freaked out conversation directly in view of Rick immediately after Rick accuses them of something. Stupid.
  6. I thought that was part of the point, actually. Like Shira could push them around because they were so much less than her. It's been discussed quite a bit upthread and she was actually really "low class" compared to the Huntzbergers' usual crowd, and I'm sure they made her feel it. The DAR ladies, however, wouldn't dare to put down Mrs. Mitchum Huntzberger that way, and she knew it. Plus, Rory.
  7. Jason was kind of fun in the beginning, when it mostly seemed like he was quietly mocking Alicia without her realizing it. But now that he's in her thrall like every other man* on the show, he's completely boring. And greasy. *Even Cary, David, and Eli are all obsessed with Alicia in some ways. It looked like maybe it was still in the box? I know a couple of super-busy people who keep a few "generic" things boxed up in the house - ties for men, scarves for women - just in case they ever need an unexpected gift. Cosign. It's looks SO BAD. I don't mind that she wears a wig. I don't even mind that it's apparently obvious that she wears one, since I never notice. But it looks bad, whether it's her hair or a wig. It's neither wavy or straight, just these weird lumps, like my hair does if I let it air-dry. While sleeping on it. To be honest, I often go to work with my hair looking "lumpy". But I'm neither a high-priced attorney nor the First Lady of Illinois. And to break the fourth wall for a moment, I'm also not a glamorous Emmy-winning actress and international celebrity. I'm surprised JM doesn't demand something better.
  8. Aw, I'd love it if Nathan Lane came back! I'm my head, Cary, other Carey, Clarke, and Robyn are off starting a new firm together.
  9. I was fine with Sidney's testimony. It was the truth.
  10. I think the former, except I don't think he was warning Jason that they'd bring him down. I think he was just saying, "Don't think you're special. Don't think she has your back. In the end, she only thinks of herself, and (occasionally) Peter. If you think she has any loyalty to you, you're lying to yourself." And I agree. Absolutely! Even as the overall quality of the writing has declined, this is still one of the things the Kings do best, not ever really giving a straight answer or bringing things to a conclusion. I know some people think it's sloppy, but IMO it's so brilliantly nuanced. I love that there are a dozen ways to read every scene (like with the Cary scene above). In real life, the only "truth" and motivations we really know are our own. The rest of the time we're left to try to read tone and visual cues and filter that through our own history and biases to arrive at what we think is happening. Agreed. It may seem heavy-handed, but they had about 10 seconds to get across that these are Canadian NSA-types before they confused the audience. Besides, is wearing a Blue Jays shirt really that crazy? I'm in the St. Louis area, where we're admittedly pretty baseball-obsessed, but if the Cards are playing and people are allowed to wear t-shirts to work, there's a nearly 100% chance that at least one person will be wearing the Birds on the Bat. The aboot thing cracks me up, because the Canadians I've met (as well as my cousins in Wisconsin) all say a very soft A-BOAT. And they think I say A-BOWWWD. :-)
  11. Hi, all, I went ahead and added the "Spoilers" tag to the topic title. Hopefully that will make the truly spoiler-free pause before they click. As for what to use spoiler tags for in here, let's do this. Anything from the books is fair game to post without spoiler tags. The only thing I'd tag would be plot points from future episodes that aren't in the books. So, for example, I know that in the books Sidney marries Hildegard. So discussion of their marriage, disappointment that the show is going in a different direction, etc., could all be posted without tags. Then let's say (for the sake of explanation) that in the season/series 2 finale that Geordie leaves Cathy and runs off with Amanda (which I'm assuming doesn't happen in the books! lol) Since that's a plot point that would be a spoiler even to those who have read all of the stories, that would need to be spoiler tagged in here. Let me know if you have questions!
  12. I love our (occasionally smug, but never to our faces) neighbors to the north, but all of the Canada stuff made me laugh. I can see why the depiction might annoy Canadians, but I thought it was every bit as accurate as TGW's portrayal of Chicago, Iowans, cops, Republicans, and just about everyone who isn't named Florrick. That is, hokey and one-dimensional. Giggly schoolgirl Alicia is GROSS. Stop thinking with your lady parts, answer your phone, go to the office, and pretend you remember how to be a professional. In short, do your damned job. As usual, Lucca is a thousand times more competent than Alicia. If she was allowed to be a real character with motivations and feelings instead of Alicia's designated sidekick and cheerleader, she'd resent that she's always working while Alicia flits about worrying about her personal life. I'm loving DGAF Cary. "You expected sweatpants?" Lol Diane and Kurt are made of win. THAT'S how you do sexy and flirty. I was super-pissed that Diane took it upon herself to turn down Kurt's deal without consulting with him, but she redeemed herself by realizing that at the end. I freaking love Megan Hilty, and I'm so excited she's FINALLY on the show! I'm guessing she'll turn out to have been the inept/incompetent ballistics expert from the crime lab in her earlier life? Unpopular opinion, but I love the NSA guys. But I was hoping Snowden-lite would lose, if only to prove that LG-lite shouldn't have pushed out Cary, who was apparently their only international law expert. (Since their next-best resource is a greasy investigator who used to be some kind of lawyer in another jurisdiction. They have two floors, as they always remind us. None of those people know anything?) Maybe it was my TV, but Wiggy looked green in that last scene in Alicia's apartment. Happily, that distracted me from that dreck on my screen. What's that about not needing a man waiting in the wings before you can grow the balls to ask for a divorce, Alicia? Yeah, that's what I thought. I've been marathoning the first six seasons, and I've become more and more convinced that Peter is the true love of Alicia's life. Tonight solidified that for me. And I'm fine with that, because Alicia becoming an independent person is clearly not going to happen.
  13. Was that tweet linked to an article or something? I'm not doubting what was said, but I've seen a surprising number of articles referencing episode counts that seem to be based mainly on IMDB. Frankly, as loosely put together as the production seems to be, I wouldn't be shocked to find out that the episode counts for some of the more minor characters are still not set in stone.
  14. If Lorelai ditched her friends, who supported her and her daughter emotionally for years, for her hot new rich husband, that says more about Lorelai than Chris, IMO.
  15. If having a credit card declined makes one a bad person, then there are a lot of desperadoes out there. I think most of my friends and family have faced that embarrassing situation; I know I have. When I used to cashier, it happened a lot. It can be a sign of financial irresponsibility or malfeasance. It can also be caused by an honest mistake, a math error, a bank system issue, or a previously unknown daily limit. The last one is what tripped me up, by the way. So I hope that the good people of Stars Hollow wouldn't hold such an insignificant thing against someone forever. I know it never made me think less of any of the people who were declined when I cashiered, most of whom immediately whipped out another form of payment and completed their transaction. Things happen.
  16. My feeling is: the onus to "make it work" is on the person who wants to change the status quo. A lot of people I know have it written into their divorce decree that the custodial parent can't move from a certain geographical area without getting approval from the non-custodial parent, unless they are willing to give up primary physical custody. I can absolutely see Arizona seeking some kind of legal document to that effect. I realize some people may say that impinges on Callie's rights, but I feel like having a child with someone is a tacit agreement that you will make considerations for that person until the child reaches adulthood. (Always assuming that the other person is not abusive, or a deadbeat, etc.) eta: Compromise is all well and good, but considering the distance they seemed to be implying, the reality is that Sophia would live with one parent and visit the other very occasionally. If she were older and could travel alone, it might be different, but...
  17. Whoops! That's on me. I actually know a Hildegard(e) in RL, and she has the E, so I didn't realize. Thanks for the heads-up! I'll correct. I feel bad, because Hildegard is BY FAR my fave of Sidney's many (many, many) potential love interests.
