  1. And I'm the opposite. I have no strong feelings to Manchester City, but Chelsea? I loathe them. It was a surreal moment a) seeing Lampard in a Man City shirt, and b) watching him score against Chelsea. His post-game interview was quite poignant. He didn't seem to know what to say.
  2. Frank Lampard just had to score for Manchester City, didn't he? That was too perfect. As for the other Manchester club - woof! What a way to lose! Leicester City are proving to be a tough out for any team that comes to their stadium
  3. Pleased for Ozil. He's one of my favorite players, so I was a little irritated at all the criticism he was getting.
  4. I am, primarily because Everton's in it. They beat Vfl Wolffburg 4-1 today, which made me oh-so happy. Tottenham, on the other hand, only got a 0-0 draw against Partizan Belgrade, whose fans brought out a truly gross, anti-Semitic banner. Hope UEFA punishes them.
  5. As I posted upthread, no transfer has ever made me want to cry, but Xabi Alonso leaving Real Madrid for Bayern Munich came pretty close. I adore Xabi as a player, and I think Madrid will miss him immensely this season. Seeing him in a Bayern shirt is going to weird me out for a while. As for Matchday 1 of the CL, I think Bayern were very good value for their win. I was surprised to see Atletico Madrid lose to Olympiacos, but the Greek team proved last year that they're nobody's pushovers - especially when they're playing at home.
  6. Kevin Frazier is an awful, awful host. ETA: I don't know why I thought we'd make it through this special without hearing about the damn cigarette smoking, but I really, really wish we had.
  7. Real are kind of hard to root for now, what with the selling off of key players (Alonso, Di Maria), the bad performances in the league, and the general unhingedness that comes with said bad performances. OTOH, it sounds like Atletico Madrid and Olympiacos had a great game, and even Liverpool vs. Ludogorets got good - at least at the end. This Bayern/Manchester City matchup is getting to be a habit. They've played some great matches the last few seasons, so I hope we get the same tomorrow.
  8. In honor of the Champions League returning tomorrow - a cool NYT piece on the theme song and the music in question:
  9. This NYT Magazine feature on Viola got me a bit more excited about the show. ETA: More from the Buzzfeed Brews panel with Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington and Viola Davis. I particularly liked this from Viola:
  10. My mistake. I think I was looking at promo pics from last season's finale! Ooops!
  11. I am in the midst of watching a S2 marathon on Ion. Just watched Best Defense, which I've always loved. David Marshall Grant also played a crooked lawyer on the Mothership (one of the Jamie Ross episodes if I'm remembering correctly).
  12. On a Shonda Rhimes show? That's crazy talk! One of the promo pics - the one with Fitz and Olivia facing each other while Jake looks on - has me intrigued. I wonder if it's from just after Jake and Olivia return to DC.
  13. blueray, that's the show I first saw Magda in. When she showed up on Continuum, I was stunned to see how much older she looked. She was a baby on Kyle XY.
  14. Loved seeing everyone again. I have such affection for these characters that even if they'd all stayed in that cave reading passages from Jennifer's vampire novel, I would still have been happy to see them all again. I'm already tired of Mara's sneer and laugh, but hopefully they don't make her always one step ahead of our heroes. That will get old fast. So, if Mara's not causing the sewed eyes Trouble, who is?
  15. I forgot about that. Did they show who she was talking to after she hung up with Martin?
  16. Jose Mourihno and Pep Guardiola are bickering again, and it's fantastic
  17. This episode gave me flashbacks to the Manchurian Candidate (Something happened over there! During the war!) and the X-Files episode "Sleepless" (They put chips in our brains!) That is, until we moved to karaoke night in Texas. Sigh. Anyhoo, this may be the first episode I actively liked. We got movement on the Who is Martin story, and Crystal had a purpose beyond badmouthing Martin. Plus, I liked the dynamic between Crystal and Agent Rice (as investigators, nothing more). Oh, and nice to see Kirk Acevedo!
  18. Kerry Washington, Ellen Pompeo and Viola Davis are doing a BuzzFeed Brews panel. Thought it was funny when Ellen Pompeo said "On Grey's...we say everything three times."
  19. Yeah - even Dancing With the Stars eventually abandoned the 2-hour results show. Take a lesson, MAFS. Maybe it was just me, but Jamie didn't seem to be feeling her decision.
  20. I thought the same. I didn't mind Jay O. Sanders, but he wasn't exactly memorable.
  21. Just finished reading The Women by T.C. Boyle, a novelization of some of Frank Lloyd Wright's romantic relationships. I thought it was pretty well done, if a bit long. About to read June Cross' Secret Daughter, which is about how the author (who is mixed-race) was given away by her white mother.
  22. It's a shame MEM didn't have much to do as Zoe Callas. I like her as an actress.
