  1. Nathan Parsons, aka Ethan, is the new James, the hippie vamp in the final season of True Blood.
  2. Re recent plotlines, I knew that Nina was a phony all along and her being able to walk and trashing Silas' place proves it, not to mention her being all sweetness and light about Silas and Sam. Given what Nina knows about Rafe, I wouldn't be surprised if she used it to blackmail him into doing her bidding. It would serve Nina right if Nathan was the one to bust her. Nathan has way less qualms about busting family than Dante does, as Madeline and Dr. O can attest. I don't give a fuck about Rafe either, especially since the only reason he's doing drugs is because Molly dumped him for TJ. Rafe's not just a junkie stalker, he's a pathetic junkie stalker. Re Jimmy Deschler's acting skills, while Tequan Richmond's not the best actor I've ever seen, IMO he's still better than JD, as he showed in Blue Caprice, the film about the D.C. sniper. Re Molly, I don't think she should have left Alexis, but Alexis shouldn't have given her reason to leave. Molly's tactics re Julexis may be wrong, but her suspicions about Julian aren't, by a long shot. Alexis' belief in Julian because of what she thinks is hard evidence is understandable, but her refusal to even consider the possibility that Molly's right is bullshit, plain and simple. Alexis has only known Julian for a few months, but Molly is her daughter, whom she has known literally since the day she was born, which should count for something, to say the least. The one person who could fix this whole mess is Julian. if Julian does the right thing and comes clean, I think he would gain more than he'd lose. If Julian fesses up and gets another immunity deal, Alexis could get her daughter back, Molly could get her father back and Julian would get his balls back. Re Tracy, I would be much more impressed by her punking Michael if she wasn't being played herself. Ned wouldn't have bought Tracy's bullshit for a second if he were there. If Ned were in charge, he wouldn't just let Tracy back in, he'd make her earn it, just like Edward would have done. A good writer would make Ned put tracy in the mailroom for a month for starters, which could not only throw a big monkey wrench in Fluke's plans for ELQ, seeing Tracy trying to throw her weight around and failing miserably would be comedy gold. In time Fluke could get so frustrated that he takes it out on Tracy, making her see the light and finally kick Fluke to the curb like the trash he is, for real and for good. About Sabrina, her breakdown after Gabriel's death should have been tragic, but I found it just too funny. Her reverting back to her wedding day dress and all is just the latest example of her building her whole world around Patrick when she shouldn't. Not to me. Robin's asking Patrick and Emma to abandon their home, their family and their friends would not only have been unfair to them, it would have also been dangerous, which is probably why Robin didn't tell her parents either. In Robin's mind, she knows that her parents are superspies, but she probably also believes that they have already been through enough Hell because of her and she didn't want them to suffer anymore. As for why Robin didn't insist that Jason was moved to a facility near Port Charles, chances are it was because Victor wouldn't have allowed it because it would have given his plan away and that would have put her family in even more danger. IMO, any mistake Robin makes is RC's fault, not Robin's. Whatever options Robin did or didn't use are RC's doing. RC's apparent belief that Robin's having "3 hots and a cot" is any semblance of a substitute for the 2 & 1/2 years that were stolen from Robin, Patrick and Emma proves just how delusional he is. ITA with those who say that the more RC tries to make Robin look bad, the worse he looks.
  3. As bad as this year's Daytime Emmys were, one of its many worst moments was during the Red Carpet pre-show, when the co-hosts "joked" about raping RP. If a male host had made that kind of "joke" about an actress, they would have caught all kinds of Hell for it and rightfully so. I'm not the most p.c. person in the world, but that was tacky, to say the least. As shitty as last year's Daytime Emmys were, this one was even worse. I'm not only not surprised it's not on TV anymore, if TPTB don't publically apologize for the show in general and to RP in particular, they shouldn't even be online anymore.
  4. Levi and a mirror should start an offscreen romance while Naxie should start banging like a screen door in a hurricane ASAP.
  5. Re recent news, while I agree that a girl's getting her ears pierced when she's a year old isn't a bad thing, sending her on a flight with staff and without family is. Thank Heaven nothing went wrong because North had almost no relatives in general (except for Kanye's aunt on the trip back) or parents in particular there to protect her. Were I in Kim's place and had to go on an overnight business trip, I would either take the kid(s)with me or let their father, family and/or friends watch them because there's no way in Hell I would leave them with strangers for a second, let alone overnight if I didn't have to, whether they're employees or not. Kudos to Annie Leibowitz and Leonardo di Caprio for not being at Kanye's beck and call. Annie Leibowitz is arguably the best photographer in the world. She's got way more important things to do and way more important people to do them for than Kimye. Chances are if Anna Wintour hadn't hired Leibowitz to do that Vogue Cover Story, she wouldn't have given Kimye the time of day in the first place, separately or together. Wasting 4 days on an Instagram photo? Seriously? I would ask if Kanye's crazy, but we already know the answer to that. As for Leo, he's an A-list superstar with way more street cred than Kanye these days, who doesn't want to risk it on the likes of Kimye and I not only don't blame him, I commend him. Leo has a career and a rep to protect and his refusal to publically squander it for the Kardashian's sake is just pure common sense. Leo may be a serial modelizer and he certainly could've found a Kardashian-free party at Cannes, but he seems to know one thing that Kanye doesn't: that glorified porn stars, which is basically what Kim is, aren't marriage material. Just "hit it & quit it"; don't marry it. Re Kanye's dissing President Obama, that's probably sour grapes about the Obamas not coming to the wedding. About Kanye's claim that "[he's] on a mission from God," if that was true, then he wouldn't have gone anywhere near Kim in the first place. But my favorite story is from this week's Entertainment Weekly's "Bulls-Eye" section about Kanye's getting booed at Bonaroo. Kanye's rep was in trouble before he hooked up with Kim, but now he might at well change his last name to "Kardashian" too. While I agree that Kanye's an asshole, the correct name is Elwood.
  6. My pick: I'm Team Nobody because IMO Patrick's not ready for a serious relationship with anyone. Patrick talked a good game about getting serious with Richie, but when he had the chance, he not only ruined it on several levels, at one point Patrick even tried to blame his problems on his mama, but she wasn't having it. Patrick's issues are nobody's fault but his own. Richie has made mistakes, but at least he admitted them and is trying to work on them; Patrick, otoh, claims that he wants to do the same, but only ends up making things worse. Patrick said that he wanted to make things work with Richie but he was not only reluctant to introduce him to his friends and his boss, family wasn't an option, either. Patrick's weak defense of Richie when Agustin accused Patrick of "slumming" with him at Dom's birthday party was bad enough, but Patrick's lying about Richie's career to his boss Kevin and John, Kevin's boyfriend and his putdowns of Richie to his mother were equally pathetic. Patrick may like Richie, but his feelings for Kevin keep getting in the way. Kevin is cute, but I've never trusted him and his treatment of Patrick is why. Kevin seems great, but he's a liar, a user, a cheater and an all-around creep who will do whatever to whomever to get what he wants no matter whom he hurts, whether it's his employees, John or Patrick. Instead of respecting professional, personal and legal boundaries, Kevin has not only blurred the lines, he has crossed them, first by flirting with Patrick, then by kissing Patrick at Patrick's sister's wedding and worst of all, luring Patrick back to the office under false pretenses, coming on to him, kissing him and then seducing him. After that scene, I noticed that Kevin and Patrick didn't hold each other, barely touched each other and didn't even look at each other. To add insult to injury, Kevin ruffled Patrick's hair like an adult does to a child, which was patronizing. As for Kevin's relationship with John, the actual boyfriend, I don't know if it's open or not, but even if it was-which I doubt-I don't think that affairs with employees is part of the deal because it's not only tacky and cruel, it's a lawsuit begging to happen. Kevin's treatment of Patrick and John proves that he's not as great as he thinks he is; otoh, Richie's awesome. Richie's not an easy guy to love, but as he proved in that beautiful scene in the finale, in which he confessed that he was very close to falling for Patrick but backed off for Patrick's sake as well as his own, at least he knows what love is. While Kevin's honesty with Patrick was selfish, Richie's honesty was the opposite, which to me is what a grownup does-put the other person's needs above their own, not below them. Patrick should only be with Richie when he deserves him and given Patrick's passive-aggressive bullshit, I don't see that happening anytime soon, if ever.
  7. Check out his Macbeth. DAYYMM!! Fassy is fine, blonde or brunette, human or android, with or without a beard.
  8. Bumping it up with a very sweet moment from About Schmidt, which featured a beautifully restrained, Oscar-nominated performance by Jack Nicholson as a lonely widower who tries to stop his daughter's wedding to a man he hates. Throughout the film, Schmidt has sent letters to an African child whom he has supported for years. Near the end, Schmidt gets a letter from the child thanking him, making Schmidt cry.
  9. Just had to post to show my love for "Everything Is Awesome" from The LEGO Movie, a song so cheerfully insidious that I either hum it or sing it everytime I hear it.
  10. Three more examples: "Natural Blues" by Moby from "Wunderkind," the episode featuring The Wire's Michael B. Jordan and Maestro Clark, about a young genius with gang ties who wanted to better himself, but fate wouldn't let him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbYL7y3gyf4 The next is "The Theme From The Goodbye Girl" by David Gates from the episode "Daniela," about a runaway teenage girl who falls in love with a boy who eventually learned her secret, but still loved her anyway and always would. If this song/video don't make you at least a little misty-eyed, then check your pulse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZYeKZUYxT8 Last but not least is "My Back Pages" by The Byrds from "Forever Blue," aka "Brokeback Cops," about two male cops in the late 1960s-one married with a pregnant wife-who fell in love, with tragic consequences: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRntSffcHXc
  11. I need to add the fight between Dets. Rust and Marty on True Detective, which was so brutal that according to co-star Woody Harrelson, he accidentally knocked some of Matthew McConaghey's teeth out. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DULQ2ruTBE
  12. Not me, re the last point. Violet is just as possessive and batshit crazy as Crystal and I don't want to see Jason go through anything like what he suffered in Hotshot again.
  13. I would like to see Hoyt and Jessica back. I miss Hoyt a lot. I miss Hoyt too, but not enough to reunite him with Jessica, who not only lied to him, cheated on him and banged his best friend Jason, she glamoured him into forgiving him. Jessica's glamouring Hoyt into forgetting her and Jason was for the best. I think Jason deserves better. Jessica's bloom wore off the rose for me when she killed almost all of Andy's daughters. She may not have meant to do it, but in this case, intent doesn't matter-results do. I totally disagree. I think Bill and Sookie are toxic together. There's nothing simple about their relationship. Bill had not only lied to Sookie on the night he first met her, he almost got her killed. Their so-called "true love" has gotten too many innocent people hurt, killed and/or turned for me to ever root for them.
  14. I disagree. IMO, Bill's story pales in comparison to Eric, his maker Godric and King Russell Edgington, the one who killed Eric's family. Compared to Eric, Godric and Russell's history, Bill's just a baby vamp, as far as I'm concerned. Re the first point, again disagreeing. IMO, Bill and Sookie are bad news. Just because they're married offscreen doesn't mean that art should imitate life. As for Alcide, after all the shit that Bill, Eric and Warlow have put Sookie through, she needs all the sanity she can get and if it's from Alcide or any other non-vamp, then so be it.
  15. Speaking of Banshee, another great fight scene was between Sheriff Not Lucas Hood (NLH for short) and the mixed martial arts fighter who raped a woman and dared NLH to arrest him-which he did, but only after he kicked the shit out of him. Another great brawl was between Sookie and Debbie in the "Night Of the Sun" episode of True Blood, which Sookie not only won, when she told Debbie "Get out of my house, bitch!" and shot at her, it was one of the few times I ever liked her. Another epic True Blood fight was between Sam, Alcide and Marcus, the guy who killed Sam's brother Tommy, slept with Alcide's girlfriend Debbie and kidnapped his own daughter with Luna, who was Sam's girlfriend at the time. The only thing better than Sam's kicking Marcus' ass was Alcide's finishing him off and dumping Debbie.
  16. Dante's putting Sonny on blast was a thing of beauty. Sonny's cheating on Olivia is no surprise, but at least Dante didn't let Sonny off the hook for hurting her plus Sonny's mentioning Kannie made him suspect that he's hiding something else which he is, to put it mildly. Hopefully, Dante not only refuses to move on, he's the one who learns the truth about AJ's murder, Sonny, Ava, Carly and Franco's parts in it/the cover-up, is the one to tell Michael the truth, making him and Morgan reject the guilty parties, just before said perps end up in prison. Morgan's dissing Franco was epic. Too bad he didn't kick Franco in the other shin. Levi proves once again that the only thing "cosmic" about him is what a cosmic joke he is. Love that Nathan and Diane don't take him or his last name seriously. ITA that Levi snitched to the judge, endangering Nathan's career, Nathan's freedom and Maxie's chances of seeing Georgie again in the process, just so he can keep controlling Maxie's life, by any means necessary. STFU, Kiki. You don't know Jack-or Jax.
  17. Once again, Sonny finds ways to piss me off. I've known that Sonny is an arrogant, hypocritical, selfish and self-righteous motherfucker for years, but his barging into Anna's office and demanding-not asking-for answers regarding Ric's "death" like he was a tax-paying, law-abiding citizen was infuriating. That Anna didn't smack the shit out of Sonny right then and there showed incredible restraint on her part. Sonny's wanting justice for the brother whom he never once gave a shit about even on a good day made me want to throw barware. The only reason why Sonny should ever be in Anna's office should be to confess his own crimes, not to spew accusations (however accurate) about Julian's, so unless he comes clean once and for all, he can have more seats than the Superdome, as far as I'm concerned. Sonny and Duke's throwing shade at Julian was more fuckery. Duke has good reason to mourn the death of his unborn child, but Julian not only wasn't the one who did it, he killed the one who did. As for Sonny, Julian's no saint by a long shot, but unlike Sonny, Julian has paid/is paying for his sins, in one way or another, none of which include killing his son's biological father or fucking/possibly impregnating his son's girlfriend. If/when the truth comes out about Julian's lies, I have a feeling that his kids will forgive him; Sonny's lies, otoh, not so much, Heaven willing. Re Nathan Vs. Levi, Team Nathan all the way. If Levi was as "enlightened" as he says he is, then he wouldn't let Nathan get to him. As for Levi's telling Nathan to stay out of his and Maxie's business, like he did re Nathan's family business? Turnabout's fair play, mate. When Levi hit Nathan, IMO he should have arrested Levi. Last time I checked, assaulting a police officer is a crime in Port Charles, no matter how bad the police force is. So far, loving Joss Without Pity. The more she snarks on Franco, the better.
  18. While he was good in that movie, I thought he was better in Schindler's List and should have been nominated for it. Re the 2010 Best Actor race, Eisenberg and Franco were good, but IMO Colin Firth and Jeff Bridges were better, so I was fine with either one of them winning that year.
  19. I've got no problem with Channing Tatum playing Gambit because he's not only from the South, he can actually act, as Stop-Loss and A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints proved. That's the beauty of independent films: they give actors a chance to flex their acting muscles in ways that blockbusters can't. Case in point: A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, in which Tatum not only gave IMO a great performance, he did it with a Brooklyn accent. Josh Holloway can act, but since his last TV show Intelligence was cancelled after less than a season, Marvel would probably think he's not worth the risk. As for Zachary Levi, he's great too, but he's part of the Thor universe. Chris Evans may have played two roles in the Marvel 'verse, but Johnny Storm was a superhero, not the superhero's best friend and Lee Pace is probably too busy with his new AMC show Halt & Catch Fire to play Gambit, so for all intents and purposes, he's out too. Besides acting, script and direction are key. If those are good, then chances are the performance will be too, so I'm willing to give Channing Tatum a chance. I've also got no problem with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Wolverine is not only one of the most popular characters in the Marvel 'verse, he's also arguably the most popular X-Man. While X-3 and Origins sucked, The Wolverine, his cameo in X-Men: First Class and his work in DoFP in general (and his ass in particular) made up for them.
  20. And here is the thread for your favorite True Blood quotes, such as the one I paraphrased in the thread title, originally made by Pam from the Season Four finale, "Blah, blah, vampire emergency, blah," to Eric while Sookie was in the room, which meant that she wanted to talk to Eric about vamp business that she didn't want Sookie to know about. Another was the scene when Alcide abjured Debbie, his former girlfriend, whom he caught cheating with Marcus, the former Packmaster, whom Alcide eventually killed. That scene convinced me that given the right material, Joe Mangianello can act as good as he looks. Another is what is arguably the greatest True Blood quote of all, which was actually the speech made by King Russell Edgington, after he killed a newscaster on international television, in which he asserted that humans were not only vastly inferior to vamps, many vamps would kill them and their kids to prove it. But the capper was at the end, when Russell turned to another camera and said, "And now, time for the weather. Tiffany?" which proved just how batshit crazy Russell was.
  21. Here is the topic for Alcide Herveaux, the hottest werewolf in Bon Temps, played by Joe Mangianello. He's one of my favorite characters because while he's a wolfman of few words, he makes the ones he says count, especially when he's naked-which, fortunately, is a lot. As for the thread title, it was inspired by my initial response to Alcide the first time I saw him.
  22. This is the thread for the Best TV Fight Scenes, in which you may post all of your favorite ass-kicking moments, such as the brawl between Brienne and the Hound on the S4 finale of Game Of Thrones, which involved swords, rocks, kicking, biting, bone-breaking and bleeding-and I loved every moment of it.
  23. My point is that at least they (especially Jodie Foster) still had careers to come back to. Emma Watson doesn't need to model her career after anyone else if she doesn't want to because IMO she can do what she wants on her own terms.
  24. Tom Hiddleston has been cast to play Hank Williams Sr. in I Saw the Light. I think he's a great choice because he can not only act the part, he can sing and play guitar as well.
  25. As for Emma Watson, I think she has more of a Winona opportunity [than Kristin Stewart] to pick projects but after The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and The Bling Ring I don't think she's proven that she has a big enough fanbase to allow her to make any project. I haven't seen either movie yet (they're on my list!) but I'm not really sold on her acting ability. I've yet to see Emma Watson wow me in a role. She's very pretty, but compared to her former Harry Potter costars she's by fat the weakest link, IMO. Even when she was spoofing herself in This is the End she sucked. I wouldn't be surprised if she left the industry eventually or just decided to work behind the scenes. I disagree, on several counts. For one thing, just because an actor takes time off to go to college that doesn't mean that their career is over. Plenty of actors have graduated from college during their careers, such as Jodie Foster and Brooke Shields, among others. James Franco is still in college (IIRC) and his career is still going strong. Re Emma Watson, I think she's made some great choices post-Harry Potter whether it's going to college, doing independent films or playing herself in This Is the End. She's even starting to become a style icon, As one of the first, if not the first, of the current crop of starlets to sport a pixie cut. Although Emma Watson doesn't need to work again because of the Harry Potter films, her choosing to finish her education and to do independent films to challenge herself creatively convinces me that she's got a great future ahead of her, onscreen and off.
