  1. I'm just glad that not only did the show NOT pair Ann and Schneider romantically, they never even hinted that they would ever go there. Thank goodness.
  2. I actually turned WE on this morning, saw Bishop and turned it right back off. (No offense to the actress, though.)

    The NBA

Yes, Carmelo, how many rings do you have? *crickets*

    The NBA

Not to mention he has played in the NBA for almost half of his entire life!!!
  5. Here are my favorites, other than the aforementioned "Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike" and "Mr. Monk Gets a New Shrink", in no particular order: "Mr. Monk and the Panic Room" (S3E2): What could be more Monk than having a panic attack in a panic room? However, it is Sharona's bond with the falsely accused primate that really makes the episode special. Bonus points for having Stewart Finlay-McLennan (Dr. MacNeill of one of my favorite short-lived series, Christy) as the victim. Best part: Leland's interrogation of the "suspect", complete with fez and cymbals. "Mr. Monk and the Blackout" (S3E3): From the possibility of a date for Monk, a scruffy aged hippie played by Judge Reinhold, and a Willie Nelson TV special that seemingly triggers a chain of blackouts, the hijinks never stop. All this and a special pair of goggles that makes Monk look like The Fly, according to Sharona. Ha! "Mr. Monk and the Girl Who Cried Wolf" (S3E6): Bitty Schram gets a much-deserved turn in the spotlight with the gaslighting of Sharona, and totally delivers. Also noteworthy is that this is the first episode that features Monk's arch-nemesis, Harold Crenshaw. "Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa" (S4E9): The Christmas party at police headquarters is everything a party should be (except for the tragic way it ends, of course). The party, which includes a duet of "O Holy Night" between Leland and Randy, is so jolly that even Monk is having fun. Monk and Natalie undercover as a mall Santa and his elf are adorable, as is Julie when she sees snow fall for the first time. The opening of the episode, showing how the crime is executed (no pun intended) set to "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" really sets the episode's entire tone. "Mr. Monk and Sharona" (S8E10): It took several years, but the return of Bitty Schram as Sharona (if only for one episode) was well worth it. We finally get to see the differences of Sharona and Natalie together, and how differently they deal with Monk. In the end, they team up to save him from the perpetrator of the week. We also get a sense of closure between Monk and Sharona that never happened before due to the hasty departure of both actress and character. The hug they share at the end is so sweet. Honorable Mention: "Mr. Monk and the Employee of the Month" (S3E7): This was a very clever idea for an episode, and it's always fun to see Monk undercover. The running gag of Randy's unseen girlfriend is hysterical. Trivia: The victim of the week was played by veteran actress Maree Cheatham. I asked her about the episode via social media. Her character was crushed by boxes of TVs in the stockroom of a department store. Since Ms. Cheatham in real life was moving to a new house at the time, the crew let her keep the boxes for her move!! "Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees" (S6E5): The highlight of this episode was the "Trudy talk" that Monk gives to Natalie's teenage daughter Julie, who is confused and in tears over what romantic love really is. Also worthy is that Natalie, who has been waiting a long time to say it, has the "here's what happened" moment. "Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure" (S6E6): An attempt by Monk and Natalie to "help" Dr. Kroger's son and his friends solve a "treasure map" backfires in a big way, until Randy's "free refills for life" and Troy Kroger's state of the art stereo system come to the rescue.
  6. I know this sounds awful, but I kept expecting someone to add the audio of Marcia Brady crying, "Oh, my nose!" to that video!!
  7. Ann Romano and Dwayne Schneider of One Day at a Time. Thankfully, not only did the show never go there, they never even hinted at it (even though it was obvious he had a crush on her).
  8. I think Linda Lavin is much better suited as a supporting performer than a lead. She was just fine as Detective Janice Wentworth on Barney Miller, which she left to star in Alice.
  9. Plus, I always skip over the episodes from the earlier years when Kathryn Erbe (and Eames!) was on maternity leave. I just couldn't handle her fill-in, Detective G. Something Bishop.
  10. Exactly. She's in her late 30s now - her teen years are long gone (both of her KIDS are teenagers now, or pretty close to it). Maybe her handlers (for lack of a better word) are insisting that she stay this way, which we all know is not good.
  11. For any of you who missed it, here is Max Gail's acceptance speech for winning Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series (May 6, 2019):
  12. FETV is now showing them on Saturdays and Sunday nights from 9-10 PM EST, as well as weekdays from 1-2 AM EST.
  13. If Clint Frazier had displayed that kind of humility, maybe people throughout MLB wouldn't be calling him a crybaby right now!!
  14. I'm 5'8". My best friend in high school was 5'0". We looked like Mutt and Jeff!! I was the tall, gangly one and she was petite with curves. I had no idea that she was jealous of my figure until we had been friends for awhile. I was jealous that she had a boyfriend (who eventually became her husband) and I didn't. But they were issues we worked out before they destroyed our friendship. It is interesting when the ladies on the show mention insecurities like that - and also do shows where they go makeup free, or Sheryl goes wig-less (she has alopecia issues).
  15. Yeah, I can imagine a lot of men (especially fathers) lining up to even the score with Wickham. Jane Austen had cads in her other books, like Willoughby and Churchill - but Wickham was just pure evil.
  16. I saw a taping way back in March 2001 when I was visiting some friends who lived in Van Nuys at the time. I had traveled from Ohio to spend my spring break out there. One of the things I was surprised at when we were let into the studio is how tiny the set was. It looked like a miniature of the set I had always seen on TV (same as when I went to a taping of Jay Leno's Tonight Show in 1998). The biggest reaction the three-hour taping received was News Flash - when Colin was "reporting" on the skateboarders (painfully) wiping out. Of course, there was a hoedown, but I forget what the topic was for that. Hoedowns go much longer in the tapings than you see on TV. Yes, they make up the lyrics themselves, but the gaps between the verses are much longer than what hits the screen. It's all edited so tightly together that it looks like the hoedown is memorized beforehand, which it's not. The lineup that night was Drew, Ryan, Colin, Wayne and Jeff Davis. Another high point of the evening was when the taping was over and people were starting to file out of the studio. The friends I was with knew Wayne, so I got to get a hug from him!! Every time I see him hug a contestant on Let's Make a Deal, I always think of that moment. Great times.
  17. I cracked up at Sara's barely-concealed sarcasm about the Bill Cosby news today (he is a "life coach" for other inmates and does comedy routines for them). What did Eve say? I know they cut to a shot of the audience and muted the audio, and the next thing that happened was that the audience and the other ladies at the table completely dissolved into laughter.

    NHL Thread

@Maximum Taco - you just summed it up brilliantly. Bravo!!
  19. Not to mention that he had one of the worst qualities of all (and that pretty much every sexual predator has) - he was totally two-faced.
  20. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I don't feel like going through the entire thread. Every time a sitcom does an episode where they put on a talent show, telethon, or something of that nature, my remote goes CLICK.
  21. A Passion Denied by Julie Lessman
  22. George Wickham...enough said.
  23. It was great seeing Mel and Boss Hogg in the same scene.
