  1. Do these people ever age? How old is Varys? For the theory that he's the one who hid the whole Lyanna/Rhaegar mess, then he was just a mere child? Or is he actually super old now?
  2. Are they even still teens anymore? They are all in at least their second year of college now. They SORASed them all past teen years (which could have been more interesting) and on to this stage of not-a-teen-but-not-an-adult-either phase. It's not working, IMO.
  3. Hence why I differentiated between "storyteller" and "writer." ;-)
  4. His wikipedia page said he murdered someone while working for EJ. I never liked EJ either, by the way, except to look at. (James Scott is just my type...) I think people forgave Jack because his victim forgave him. Nicole... well, she's just a big ol' mess. I don't love her, but I guess I don't totally hate her. (Again, I don't think I was watching during the Sydney switcheroo storyline.)
  5. Just giving this a "like" wasn't enough for me, so I'm quoting and saying - thumbs up. Dany leaves chaos in her wake and still makes horrible decisions (like burning all the food!) with her self-entitled attitude. She's no more "entitled" to the throne than anyone else is; so in that respect, she's no better than Cersei and I can't stand both of their senses of extreme arrogance.
  6. I didn't watch during Patrick's time, but wasn't he a conman and a murderer? Why do people love him?
  7. I think I can better explain my opinion by saying that I agree that DG is a great story-teller; but she's not a good actual writer. Her characters are well developed and beloved, yes, but basic grammar and sentence structure are often lost on her. She falls in the middle on the use of stereotypical plot devices. Therefore, I say she's not a great writer in general. JMO.
  8. I didn't care much for DOA, and book 5 (The Fiery Cross?) is even worse. I quit about one-third of the way in and haven't been able to finish. I've said from the beginning the DG is just not a good writer. She created interesting characters, but her novels are no great works of art. She's no better than an average writer, in my opinion, and sometimes worse.
  9. I'm not sure I totally understand this list. So many CW and Fox shows, and barely any from NBC, ABC, or CBS that claim to have higher ratings on a weekly basis. The "expression" is an average daily number? So kids home from school are watching (coughhorriblecough) CW shows on repeat all day every day...?
  10. Sorry, I meant who actually wrote "Jon Targaryan"? I knew when he said the quote.
  11. That was Tyrion's argument all along, but I also don't think she came close to being killed even once, let alone a few times. Drogon was able to keep flying and land even when he was shot.
  12. Sorry, but her hair is distracting too. I don't care for it. Her gowns are always gorgeous, but everything above the neck is not working for me. (As I've said in a different thread, when Emilia is out of costume, she's very pretty - but in that wig, it's a big no from me.)
  13. Your point is bit of an oxymoron. My point was that the women are listening to others, especially when it comes to battle plans. You appear to be saying the same thing, but also not... Dany specifically had no idea what to do when she got the news from Tyrion about Casterly Rock and Jaime overtaking Highgarden. She wanted to burn the Red Keep and everyone surrounding it. All of her advisers had to talk her out of it, including Jon. She said "what would you have me do?" Sorry, but that's the appearance of being clueless to me. She didn't know what to do. She asked others. She was smart to ask others, I'll give her credit for that. But we have no idea whose idea it was to attack the Lannister army, and it was apparently her idea to have Drogon burn all of the food and supplies. So that's still being dumb, IMO. We can agree to disagree; she has not made very many wise decisions lately, IMO. And the original battle plan involving Yara/Dorne and the Unsullied/Casterly Rock was Tyrion's idea, not hers. If they would just stop short of that, but shave her eyebrows off, I'd be totally ok with that.
  14. I'll give you Cersei. But I definitely think she consults with others as well. But Dany? She's clueless. She wanted to melt the Red Keep; it took Jon to stop her. This was obviously (to me) someone else's idea.
  15. I think what we're actually seeing is Jaime vs. Tyrion. The two ladies have shown that they rely heavily on the other experienced members of their teams for battle strategy.
  16. I don't think so - the Freys controlled the Twins, and now that Arya killed him, I think it's unknown who controls anything in that area. I think that was the point of Ed Sheeran's group of soldiers; they were going to scout it out. The Tullys controlled Riverrun, but the last we knew, Edmure was a prisoner. The only area other than the North that Jon could arguably control is the Vale, and he doesn't really control it either. The Vale is still under Robin Arryn, who for the time being is just aligned with the North under Littlefinger.
  17. I've never heard of any of these people that you mention, or the book series, but it's not a bad idea. I think your example is similar to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and author - he passed away and someone else continued the series and wrote a fourth book.
  18. Right, but it's definitely implied that they got it all now. Bronn was sent to get it, and by the battle, he's back. I think their only hope is that the Reach is able to grow more before winter hits them too.
  19. I'm tired of Lannisters, but I like Bronn. I root for Jon and the North, but I can't stand Arya. I don't like Dany, but I like Tyrion. So I guess I am one of those fans that D&D was talking about.
  20. It's still an easy answer - because they are ALL going to die if they don't fight the pirates/WW first. There will be no empire left to build or reign over when they are all dead, just as Davos said.
  21. I'd be ok with the entire Tarly plot there just to give us glimpses of Dickon... :-) I suppose I need to watch Black Sails!
  22. Oh - the Louisiana Purchase after it's been bought, I guess. You know, the biggest hunk of land in the country. ;-) (Told you I confused myself. Bad example by me.) Maybe they'll agree to be a colony after they know they'll survive the pirates? We don't know that yet.
  23. I think in the books, it's just left that he's been stabbed, right? So maybe he never actually dies. Maybe his wounds aren't fatal. (Disclaimer, I never finished book 5. I got slogged down by trying to read 4 and 5 at the same time and only read about one-third of each.)
