  1. Isn't that all he's ever done? His character is more of an observer than a talker. Sorry, I understand your point now, but I didn't notice that he was quieter than usual. Maybe he was, it just didn't stick out to me.
  2. I agree, but I respect his privacy and don't mean to speculate. He's starting to look more like his old self as the season goes on, at least in my opinion. No, he doesn't write it, but if he tells TPTB that he's not 100% up to doing the more difficult scenes that require stuntwork, then they'll probably write him less strenuous scenes. I recently came across a video of him explaining that scene a few seasons back where Severide and Casey jumped off the top of the building into the river. Taylor and Jesse did the stunt themselves. He explained that they had one take to do it, and if you look closely, he's laughing at one part in anticipation of running and leaping. I presume that he does most if not all of his own stunts. This is another reason why I'm more hopeful for next season, and will try not to complain too much about this one... It's a rebuilding year, LOL.
  3. I'm still enjoying the show, but this season isn't the best. I blame the writers' strike - only because everyone rushed to get shows back on the air. This happened after the last strike too, and great shows like Friday Night Lights, for example, had a horrible season and barely made it. I'm just giving this season a pass and am happy that it was renewed for next season. I hope the writers are saving their better ideas for next season when there will be more time to flesh them all out. That said, the revolving door of people is annoying. I'm also glad that Stella backed off. Didn't she help him with some investigations in the past? Why doesn't she just do that again, to keep an eye on him if she's so worried. Makes more sense than the nagging... I've been rewatching old seasons, and Stella doesn't bother me for the most part. I think that her purpose is to fill both the Shay and Gabby roles - the Gabby do-gooder who crosses the line "for good reason" but the street-smart Shay who can keep Severide in line. It hasn't always worked, obviously, but she's not nearly as bad as Dawson ever was. Is Carver just.... there? Seems like his only purpose is a pretty face, yet he's somehow become one of the leads?
  4. Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough, but I don't understand what the complaint against Severide was about? He told a fire victim that she could come back to the house and they'd help her? They do that daily. Plus people just show up on their own looking for help as well. If that's all against the rules, then they should get a complaint filed every single episode.
  5. Isn't he the one that wanted to do that to the ambulance?? Could you imagine... He kind of deserved it just for the thought alone. But maybe it's time for a new car.
  6. The current outgoing Chief dismissed the charges. After Boden cornered her, Robinson said that she asked for the complaints to be expedited so that she could read them for herself. Once she saw what the complaints were really about, she dismissed them by saying these things are what she likes about Boden. Robinson's ridiculous threat was that once the current Chief and the interim Chief are gone, there will be no one left to protect Boden. That's why I think he'll be promoted anyway? And, well, she didn't kill him, but the last paramedic Chief did die... Hawkins.
  7. Some scenes in tonight's episode were just... awkward. Anyone else think so or was it just me? Stella and Severide were fine when talking in his office, but their apartment scene seemed a little off. Also, Taylor's arm was not in the same place between the two camera angles and stuff like that bothers me. Otherwise, it was nice to hear that the writers remembered that Kelly was addicted once too, and brought it back up. They are good at forgetting the show's history. Weird that Gibson is gone already. I thought that he was a new season regular. His exit story just came out of nowhere, too. Anyone else think that Boden will be promoted against his wishes? And at least next week they'll fight a fire again! The hazmat calls are boring.
  8. I just rewatched this episode, and I was thinking the same thing! Stella was her maid of honor - why??? Do they even know each other? The desire to show Brettsy and Stellaride walking down the aisle together shouldn't outweigh realism. Where were Chloe's parents? We met them when she was in the hospital. They have said she has a great relationship with them, but she didn't want her dad to walk her down the aisle? OK, maybe that's too traditional, but they should have at least been there... I didn't hate this episode like some others seem to, but the wedding part did have a lot of issues. The look on Severide's face as he was undressing Stella with his eyes during the ceremony was pretty good though.
  9. https://parade.com/tv/is-taylor-kinney-leaving-chicago-fire-again-season-12 Some spoilers in this article for upcoming episodes.
  10. Higher ratings is great. Maybe they'll get some budget back...
  11. I suppose in the show's defense, they have said all along in past seasons that 51 is one of, if not the, busiest houses in the CFD. And they keep saying that Boden has his own way of doing things... So I guess to carry on the theme of attacking 51 is remaining consistent. (Personally, I forgot that they at least threw in those tidbits to try to explain, and have only been picking up on them since I started rewatching from the beginning.)
  12. He looks good all the time, don't get me wrong. 😉 I just forgot that the slightly shorter hair was hot too. I do love me a Silver Fox, for sure...
  13. I was so hoping that Boden would say something like "this again!?" at the end when it seems that the new paramedic chief or new paramedic has it out for the whole house. Seems like we get this plot every season? The patient had a spider in his mouth; they showed it quickly. Yes, it was gross. Severide doing Severide things... he faced armed drug dealers without any weapons and just had a hunch that Squad would show up? Or did he actually know they would? Cruz acted like it was his idea and Sev didn't know, so that was just dumb luck. Figures. Are the new police guys going to be recurring characters? Who cares. If Chicago One already has the Chicago PD people on payroll, just use them. There hasn't been a crossover in years... I guess that's out of the new budget?
  14. I think Season 5 is peak Severide hotness. The buzzcut was working for him.
  15. I'm doing a re-watch, and while I was skipping around seasons, I decided to just start at the beginning and watch the whole way through. In doing so, I find that Gabby is much more annoying than I remember, and Stella is more tolerable. There are also many major plot holes. One big one is that Gabby and Stella met at the academy? But in season 2, it's clear that Gabby and Rebecca are the only 2 women in that academy class. And Stella has more experience than Gabby. So it must be that Stella was Gabby's teacher? None of that is clear. It's fine that Severide's story doesn't match up - he is always over there teaching something, so he could have met her at any time.
  16. When I was watching the fire pit part, I thought for sure that CT and Trishelle had discussed (obviously off camera) and were in on it. I was shocked when she voted for him. I was certain that they had "gamed" it together to win the money just for the two of them, and - quite frankly - thought they were brilliant little sneaks. Good for them! And I'm still not convinced that they didn't, and that Trishelle's vote for him wasn't just for drama. But, CT's shocked face did look real.
  17. Agree! And he has a small one on his forearm - they must cover that one daily.
  18. So is it just me that forgot that Taylor Kinney actually has some pretty large tattoos? One at least covers half of his back... and Severide has none. (At the gala in season 4, they messed up and forgot to cover one on his hand, which is how I remembered.) I think I just figured out where the show's money goes: Taylor Kinney's Tattoo Coverage Make-up Budget.
  19. The previews for the next new episode (March 20, I think) feature Severide. He's back for at least a few episodes. I think his talk with Casey may have been a little foreshadowing too, about how he and the house need each other. Update to one of my comments above: I was watching Season 2 again, and Griffin Darden was 11 at the beginning of Season 2. Ten seasons later, I suppose that he is 21 now.
  20. I think he was about 18 when he came to get Casey a few seasons ago. He may not be 21 yet, but he should be close. I don't think Herrmann was selling alcohol, the bar was closed for a private event. Trudy would make any cops look the other way, right or wrong. What got me though is that he was responsible for buckling the baby in to the car... My impression is that there is no writing, and they are allowing the actors to ad lib their characters. LOL
  21. She's in the front row during the ceremony with Herrmann. I don't know why, but I'm rewatching. There are continuity issues - sometimes Julia is on Stella's lap and sometimes she isn't. Where she is when she's not? Can't tell.
  22. The babies were: Julia - Sylvie's adopted daughter and held by Stella during the ceremony. Same one that was passed off from Trudy to Stellaride at the reception and then put in the car by one of the Darden boys. Amelia - the little girl in the back of the ceremony that Sylvie mentioned they took to the real Aquarium; Amelia is Sylvie's biological half-sister. Otis - the little boy that was with Javi before the ceremony looking at the fish. Both are Cruz's sons. Speaking of Cruz, where was Chloe? Also, he and Chloe got married at the Chicago Firefighters' Church. It's a real place and huge and beautiful and old. Why couldn't the show just get that place, for cheap on like a Tuesday morning, and shoot a wedding scene? Would have made waaaaaaaay more sense. Even with all of the foreshadowing , I'm not sure who is leaving next or how Kylie might get to 51. Stella having a baby makes sense. Severide being promoted to Captain and moving to OFI makes sense. Mouch being promoted to Lieutenant and taking a desk job at HQ also makes sense. (If Severide leaves, Cruz moves up and new guy goes to squad, Kylie goes to truck?) I think the writing hasn't been great this season and the dialogue has been more awkward than usual. I don't mind the break until March 20 because maybe it means the quality will get a little better. I've been watching old seasons and it really has been a decent show for a long time. Kelly does want kids. In the crossover episodes a few years ago with that flesh-eating bacteria outbreak, he told Stella that this isn't how he dies. He'll die an old man in his bed surrounded by her, their kids, and grandkids.
  23. Budget cuts? If everyone wanted her to stay, they could have just broken them up again. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it was her choice.
  24. *That* was the wedding that was worth all of the hype? Boring. It was nice to see Casey again, sure, but they could have done so much more. I also had a good suspicion that Severide would try some sort of surprise return, like catching an earlier flight... what they went with was more awkward, but I guess it was still nice. Sylvie has parents. They couldn't find an extra to play her dad to walk her down the aisle? That bothered me with Cruz's wedding too, considering we saw Chloe's parents when she was in the hospital... For all the build-up, I was underwhelmed.
  25. Shouldn't she have been on medical leave, recovering?
