  1. My guess would be that she has - after all, she knows her mom caused the car accident that caused her to go into labor. Maggie is in jail for that crime after all. Sarah might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but she does know basic logic and, even if she hasn't said it, she knows that her mom accidentally caused the death of her daughter.
  2. Glad to see that motherhood has softened her. Seriously, you me want to root for Kristin, stop having resort to violence every time something happens. Here's a better idea: Kristin, recognizing that Sarah is in all sorts of pain and anguish regarding the recent reveal and having empathy for her situation, works with Brady and Eric to find Sarah and safely bring her and Mickey/Rachel home, agreeing to put a temporary freeze on vengeance until her daughter is safe. At this point I say Sarah keep running and keep Mickey safe from the crazy that is Kristin. Any chance that this will finally make Brady realize that Kristin isn't stable enough to raise a child and go for full custody, granting her supervised visits until she works out her rage issues? No, he'll forgive her because she is going through a bad time however Sarah will be vilified for kidnapping Mickey/Rachel because she just found out her child is dead and the child she has been raising isn't hers. Show, quit trying to make Kristin happen, it's never going to happen.
  3. While I am loving the fallout from the baby switch a lot, you know what would have made it even better? If it were anyone other than Kristen because I just cannot bring myself to feel sorry for her at all. My heart is absolutely breaking for Sarah because she is dealing with multiple major revelations at once, even more than the other players in the game. First, she learns that Mickey isn't hers and then she learns that her baby is dead. Then she puts the pieces together and realizes that her mother caused the accident that killed her daughter. Finally she discovers that all of this heartache and pain has been caused by the one person she trusted most. You see it in her eyes all through the ceremony - she has all this pain and rage inside of her and the person who caused most of it is standing right in front of her, so what does she do? She strikes back in the most painful way possible - destroying his hope for a future as he is the most hopeful. But, again, this would play out so much better if I had even an ounce of sympathy for the other mother in the story and I have none. Kristen is a murderer, kidnapper and rapist so I cannot bring myself to feel more than the bare minimum of sorrow for her loss. I wish I could but the way the character has been written over the years has stripped away makes it impossible. Imagine if it had been another couple that the switch was done on. We don't have many options but the more soapier choice would have been an oops pregnancy for Cin with Victor choosing to have the swap happen not only to protect Maggie but to also drive a wedge between Ciara and Ben. He would still be able to spend time with his grandchild and I would have more sympathy for Ciara as she is just an idiot and not a raving lunatic criminal. Plus you have the added pathos of the Brady clan and the history of them with the Kiriakis's. Victor could see it as a just cause - Victor is protecting his grandchild from a man he feels is evil and unworthy.
  4. So Leila is a genius too but is choosing to hide it? Gotta say, I love that twist. In all honesty she is probably the smartest of the children because she can have a normal life without the burden of being "special". She is playing the long game and, in the end, will probably be more successful and happier for it. Can't help it, I am still really enjoying this show. It probably won't last beyond this one season but I will enjoy while I can.
  5. Let me rephrase - it appeared to Jerry that Marjorie choose drugs and alcohol over him, I understand the addiction is a disease and there are many factors involved in it. This is, admittedly, a touchy subject for me. My daughters birth mother left them because she didn't want to be tied down and wanted to go out and party (her words during one on her few sporadic visits when they were growing up). Is she an addict? Possibly but it doesn't change how my daughters feel about her or the fact that they want nothing to do with her now. She is not part of any recovery program like Marjorie so maybe that makes the difference but the fact remains that Marjorie made a decision to put her granddaughter after her cats. I cannot see how this would reflect well on her, even though she told Jerry the truth. I get that this is a 22-minute show but this show has been very good at creating multi-episode storylines. Instead of writing an episode for just 22 minutes, they look at the place the story holds in the overall narrative of the show and do not rely on one-off episodes. To see them do something so sitcom with no repercussions or discussion regarding her decision down the line is something that I do not expect from these writers.
  6. Funny story - my first date after dumping my first boyfriend took me to a Chi Chi's and guess who just started working there? That's right, my ex. He had been working at a different restaurant while we were dating and I had no idea he had taken another job. Since he had spent months trying to get me to give him a second chance, it was definitely awkward although he was luckily only the host and not our waiter, even though he found reasons to pass our table several times while we eating. Sheldon was a jerk and surprisingly naive for someone who has read so many academic papers. Helping with a paper is nowhere near the criteria necessary to earn partial credit. How nice to see him receive real repercussions for his actions. It was definitely needed.
  7. So happy I was not the only one frustrated with this episode. I have two cats and four grandchildren. For a while my daughter and three of my grandchildren lived with me and there was some concern that one of my grandsons might be allergic to the cats so I put the litter boxes, food, and water in the basement and kept the cats down there while they lived with me. Did I like it, no, but it was a compromise to make everyone happy. The cats didn't mind, they had everything they needed and no little kids chasing them and my daughter wasn't worried about her child getting sick. In this situation, Marjorie should have just quarantined the cat and then taken care of it after her son picked up her granddaughter. If I were her son, I would have been livid at the fact that the cats were given priority over the kid and insisted if she were to ever watch the baby again, it be at my house and she is not to leave without at least texting and letting me know what is going on. This is not her child and the flagrant disregard for the parents she showed is just not the Marjorie we know. I think we will see that her decision to put her cats well-being over her granddaughters comes back to bite her in the ass. Her son's biggest issue with her was her decision to choose drugs and alcohol over him, choosing her wants and needs over him and his wants and needs. How is her deciding to take care of her cats over her granddaughter going to appear to him? Sorry, this episode pissed me off as not only a grandma but a cat owner.
  8. I think that may be the point - these kids are book smart but completely lacking in basic common sense. I think of them like Sheldon in the Young Sheldon and it makes much more sense - he did his parents taxes and still didn't understand that his parents may not have the money to buy a computer. Sometimes the connections regarding reality and theory just do not match up and realizing that takes some extra help from the parents.
  9. I have been a widow for a lot longer than Dan (14 years last month) and I haven't really dated since then. First I was worried about raising my kids and then my daughter and grandkids moved in with me. I concentrated on work and them and I have no regrets about it. Now I work 2 jobs and go to school full-time and I love it. As much as I loved and still love my husband, it is not his memory that has me tentative about moving on with another man, it is the fact that for the first time in my life I finally have a little freedom to explore who I am now and what that means. Dan spent years with Roseanne and, as much as they loved each other, they never really knew adult life without each other. This is not something you can adjust to over night. In addition, I think Dan has some fear over how Roseanne died. This was a woman he had been with for over forty years, who he thought he knew better than anyone, and she was hiding this huge secret that ended up killing her. That is a severe breach in trust and when the person you love most harbors a deadly secret like that, one that has you questioning whether you really knew them at all, trusting another person with your heart again is not an easy thing. All that being said, I really hope Louise comes back and they continue their friendship and keep the possibility open for more.
  10. I really enjoyed this. Elsa's songs were great and I love that her journey, once again, was not about finding a romantic partner but about finding herself and her place in this world. Maybe I am reacting to being in a similar position, I am in my 40's and back in college to get my degrees and start teaching, but not every woman needs a romantic partner to feel fulfilled. I have been alone since my husband died almost 14 years ago and am very happy with my life. That being said, the song that affected me most was Anna's solo song, "The Next Right Step". Man, did they nail the depression you feel when you lose one of the most important people in your life and you are trying to figure out how to move on. Just taking it one step at a time and trying to push you way through it...man, that hit hard. I was a teenager in the 80's and I loved Kristoff's song. Hair metal was a huge part of my teenage years and they nailed it. Four of the songs have been in constant rotation from the movie are "Into the Unknown", "The Next Right Step", "All is Found" and "Lost in the Woods". Getting a cheesy 80's hair metal ballad right is very difficult and the only other cartoon one that has worked for me, and is on my IPod, is "You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart" from Phineas and Ferb. Look it up - you won't be sorry you did. Loved the different spirits, especially the fire sprite. That salamander was freaking adorable!
  11. Man, this episode hit me in several different ways. First off, as a widow I get Dan's reluctance to move on and start dating again. Louise is very understanding but it helps that she went to high school with them and saw their love story from the beginning and so she can be patient and wait for him to be ready for her and this next stage of his life. But my heart broke when he said "Rose" - I have no doubt that he and Roseanne sat next to Harris's bedside when she was a baby and this has to be have brought some of those memories back. "I failed at being poor." Damn that is true. I have worked two jobs for the last three years and this will be the first year (I hope) that I haven't had to pay the IRS. Why? Because the second job moved me up to the next tax bracket but the taxes taken out don't match. It drives me crazy that I am spending all this time working and still not getting ahead because of the extra taxes from working too much but if I don't work the extra hours, I won't be able to keep up with my mortgage and car payments. It's a frustrating thing to know you are working so hard and it is still not enough.
  12. I work in an ER and it drove me crazy that they had Becky sitting in a wheelchair after her water broke. No! As stated above, no one wants to deliver a baby in the ER, least of all the staff. It would have been an immediate call to labor and delivery and that wheelchair being pushed up to the floor while the call was being made. Especially for a geriatric (any woman over 35 years of age), premature delivery. I used to love Darlene but I wanted to smack her during this episode. Your social life comes after your kids and she should know better. It is one thing to go out on Friday night, it's another to be home late every night because you are making out with one of your two boyfriends. Harris is acting out, last year with the drinking and now with the pot cookies, and instead of putting her own wants aside for her kid, she is just throwing out meaningless punishments and still getting together with the men. I used to tell my kids that their being grounded was as much a punishment for me as them as I had to make sure they were staying home which meant giving up things I wanted to do but that it was worth it to teach them the lesson. It's part of being a parent.
  13. "like Mary Poppins in the classic Disney film unmarried women cause trouble" - HA! As one of the few humans on earth who cannot stand Mary Poppins, practically perfect in ever way my ass, I loved this. As for the show, it was better than some of the pilots I have seen but didn't really reach out and grab me the way I hoped it would. I love Bradly Whitford and Anna Camp but this felt very much like Glee (or being gay makes high school hard) in church. The misfit group of people coming together for a singing competition, the teacher who comes in to pull it all together, the final performance that is way too good to pulled together in the short time they had with the limited training and experience (replace Eye of the Tiger with Don't Stop Believing), and the teacher having been out of the group only to come back and find inspiration by the miraculous performance that came from out of nowhere by the group of misfits coming together. That being said, I love that he agreed to coach the choir out of spite and I hope that he does not lose his cynicism as the series progresses. I need a little bitter with my sweet, thank you very much.
  14. Let me get this straight, I have sat through 10 straight months of waiting for Jack to get his memory back and reunite with Jennifer and I get one fucking month of happiness before they tear them apart! Not only that but they are effectively getting rid of the Johnson clan completely if the rumors are true and Steve now has Stefano's brain, Jack may be Peter Blake and Adrienne is dead. In addition, we are getting a replay of Shayla, one of the biggest failed romances in this shows history, with Kayla and Justin? No, just fucking no! I cannot believe anyone signed off on this bullshit. Ben and Will sleeping together? Marlena and John get a new kid? Everyone is having and raising the wrong baby (except for Ron's pet Kristen of course) due to an massive embryo switch? This is beyond stupid and insulting to longtime viewers like myself who stayed with this show through a lot of shit, including the possession of Marlena and Melaswen. I'll keep watching in hopes that someone steps up and finally fires this hack and makes all of this a fucking dream just like the last season of Roseanne or Dallas.
  15. Actually, Kristin's plan isn't as insane as you would think, thanks to modern medicine: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/06/health/india-woman-73-gives-birth-scli-intl/index.html The only crazy part is that Brady would believe it happened naturally but, then again, it is Brady so he probably will. Never saw OLTL but I just can't with new Vivian. Over-the-top and not in a good way and there is absolutely no connection between her and Stefan. I am so glad she is only on for a guest stint but I wonder if they have the budget for new scenery after she leaves to replace all the scenery she chewed. Gotta hand it to MR today, she sold the fear while Shah was ranting. You could see her remembering the past and she acted like a rape victim scared to death that it was going to happen again and desperate to stop it. As for Shah's descent into madness, it is unbelievable but they are doing their best to try and explain why he would suddenly snap. The problem is they are missing some important beats to pull the story off. Maybe he kept calling her after that last date and she refused to take his call, telling Jack and JJ she is hoping he'll take the hint or he mysteriously shows up in the background wherever she is. Not that she notices but the audience does. Or maybe Kayla finds out that he was let go from his former hospital due to stalking charges from a co-worker and that he is mentally unbalanced and she let him go for that reason and not a one time snap about his lab. Something to build up the fact that he is a danger even if Jenn and company don't realize it.
  16. I completely understand why Gabi is walking away from Julie. Gabi is used to Julie's overly dramatic actions and falling on her knees begging for forgiveness as a way of getting Gabi's attention is totally within Julie's character. I know the entire town is going to shit on her for walking away but I am totally behind Gabi. Sarah is the smartest woman Eric has ever dated because she had the sense to walk away rather than wait for him to decide to take Nicole back again. I loved Jennifer explaining Jack to JJ. No, he was not perfect but he was always trying to be better and that was what made Jack Jack.
  17. My little Jack & Jenn heart went pitty-pat at the beginning of the promo. The smile on Jack's face, the way she said "It's us, you and me", the pure joy, it was just everything I have been wanting since Jack came back. Poor Gabi - Julie better be on her fucking knees thanking her for giving Julie her husband's heart. Hope as Princess Gina is going to sleep with Ben? Really? Just a big fat no. They had better not do a time jump. BTW, that is how Guiding Light ended, with a time jump. Just saying...
  18. Rafe: You're marrying Stefan? Over my dead body. Me: Win/win! Seriously Rafe, she's moving out and guaranteed to be making good money - let her go. Too bad you are a seriously terrible detective or you would have put two and two together and realized this is a plan to take Stefan's money. Shut up Ciara! Your boyfriend murdered people and your beloved cousin Abby was party to throwing Gabi in jail for a crime she didn't commit. Get over your entitled ass and grow up. Eve, you did this to yourself. You could have given Jack the serum and then proved your love to him by supporting him. It may not have worked but then you could actually blame someone else for losing your marriage and job. Your decisions led to this, no one else's - grow up and accept it. Sweet Jack and Jenn scenes and I liked that she admitted she could be judgemental and the ending was pure classic J&J. Eve may have taken his memory but she couldn't douse their chemistry.
  19. Ha! I actually saw the footage with the flamethrower and him talking about how he worked so hard to learn how to use it and said it's Chekhov's flamethrower - I knew that sucker was coming back in the last act. I think that the title gives away the fact that it is an alternate ending for Sharon Tate. This is a fairy tale in the tradition of the Brothers Grimm. Yes, there is a princess (Sharon) and she will get her happy ending but it will take blood spilled by the princes (Cliff and Rick) before she gets it. While it may have been unnecessary, I loved the scenes of Sharon hiding in the audience to watch her movie with them. The smile on her face as they laughed in all the right places was absolutely gorgeous. It was driving me crazy who the little girl was in the Western so I came home and looked it up - it's Anna-Kat from American Housewife! Such a different role for her and she and Leonardo DiCaprio had some great scenes together. All in all, especially for someone who does not normally care for either Leo or Brad, I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would. Is it another Pulp Fiction, not even close, but it was still not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
  20. No spoilers but I wonder if they are setting up Dr. Shah to team up with Eve for revenge against Jack and Jennifer. That seems to be the only reason why they would bring him back into the story at this point. Dr. Shah is a handsome doctor who has been humiliated several times by Jennifer and her inability to let Jack go. I have been working with doctors all the time, some of them do have the biggest egos, and the slightest hit to their ego can bring out their ugly side. Loved the flashback to the cave and the first time Jack and Jennifer made love. I still miss those days of grand adventure and story lines that brought multiple characters together to escape. The Cruise of Deception and Alamania played onscreen during my high school years and I still remember how much fun they were to watch and exciting for me as a viewer. But the old stories were still interwoven into the new stories. I still remember Jack and Kayla talking about her rape and Steve's death in Alamania. It was a short scene but so important not only because it was the first time they talked about his crime, but because they wove it into the current narrative. Clips are near impossible to find but the gist was that she wanted to kill Lawrence out of revenge and Jack tells her she would never do it because violence isn't the answer to anything and she taught him that. This lead to them discussing the rape. Was it necessary to do this? No, but it was such an important moment. Jack and Kayla would never be comfortable around each other, a beat they continue to play until this day, but they discussed what he did to her and he apologized for it, knowing an apology would never be enough. Sure, part of it was set up for the story of Jennifer's rape by Lawrence but it was still a great scene and MA and MBE played it perfectly. I'm just saying that those are the moments and things missing now, those little beats that take a story from good to great.
  21. Stephen King's first novel sold for $400,000 in 1973. Granted, that was mostly paperback rights but if a first novel can garner that much of an advance 46 years ago, I have no problem with Jane's novel being sold for $500,000. This is a telenovela so suspension of disbelief is a key ingredient to enjoying it. I would have had a bigger problem with watching Jane spend years perfecting her writing, finally discovering her story and writing her novel, which has been well received by publishers and agents, only to not have the rights snatched up for a great price. This is Jane's story and being a family with Mateo and Rafael is only part of her happily ever after - the other part is becoming a successful author.
  22. Loved the JJ and Jack scenes today. You could see the hope in Jack's eyes that talking to his son would spark the first memory, something. JJ's hope was tempered but it was still there. When JJ called him Dad, it was the first, small step towards a reconciliation between the two. The next step will be when Jack dumps Eve. Speaking of Eve, you are so busted. This whole marriage has gone on too long for my tastes and I am very much looking forward to Jack dumping her ass, firing her and getting a divorce. Kristin as Nicole comes across as just skeevy. I feel like Brady needs a shower after she leaves to wash the visit off of him. Heard of personal space lady? I know she is delusional and hoping that he will just grab her and kiss her because she is so close but still...
  23. I loved it and I am very happy with the way they got rid of Sin Rostro. Luisa needed to be the one to kill her and get her out of everyone's life. Luisa's love for Rose put everyone in danger multiple times and this was her redemption. Anyone else think that Luisa and Petra might get together now? Maybe hook up at Raf and Jane's wedding reception? So happy that Jane's book sold at the auction for a good price. Rafael being willing to stay in the job he likes that supports his family again shows real growth and maturity. Michael has changed and he has his own HEA. Jane the Virgin has always talked about fate and destiny, how every moment, good or bad, leads us to the one we are supposed to be with. Rose had to "kill" Michael for him to end up in Montana and meet his real true love. It was destined and, no matter how painful it was, it lead to them each finding the person they were truly meant to spend the rest of their lives with. Cannot wait for next week!
  24. Agree to disagree - this film was one of my favorites when I was a teenager and I still can remember almost line for line. Winona Ryder was perfect as Veronica and Christian Slater cemented his outsider status as JD. The commentary on cliques, peer pressure and the anointing sainthood upon death to complete assholes still resonates. About the episode, while I loved a few of the songs (Beautiful, Candy Store, Dead Girl Walking and Seventeen) the flow of the show just wasn't working for me, especially the ending. I have sat through many, many concerts and musicals for kids and teenagers and the one thing that never happens is the parents just sit there and don't clap for their kids. Hell, most of them knew exactly what the musical was about so the material should not have been shocking and the closing number just had the kids preaching to love, not hate. There was nothing offensive or shocking about it. This is offensive and shocking: So, to recap - teenagers declaring that they will try and build a better world - normal and sane. Kindergartners performing Scarface as a school play - offensive and shocking.
  25. Finally made it through Season 3 so it is time to make a prediction for Season 4 - I think Charles is getting revenge on Alice for putting him up for adoption and using his job as an FBI agent to do it. Why else would he allow her to sell her house, give up all her and Betty's money, and separate herself from her teenage daughter? When Alice is done exposing The Farm, she will have nothing but her job and maybe Betty. Polly will probably take the twins and run off, upset that her delusions about Edgar have been destroyed, she won't have a place to live because she gave up her house, her and FP are done, and Betty may not forgive her mom for giving up everything for Charles. I also think that it is Charles's blood on everyone in the flash forward, probably after he tried to frame Alice or Betty for Edgar's murder - the final nail in the coffin for his birth mother and last part of his revenge.
