Nice joke regarding the regifting of the item: From Raj to Howard to Leonard to Sheldon, however, "Cheers" did it better: Woody was giving a "Star Trek" chess set to Robin and Rebecca (they didn't get married in the end) which he got from Fraisier, which he got from Norm, which he got from Cliff. That's five regifts!!! (Of course, Sheldon says he will regift the item back to Raj, which is 5 regifts back to the original owner ---- even funnier!!!!)

DC Super Hero Girls - General Discussion
Twilight Man replied to MarkHB's topic in DC Super Hero Girls
So that happened............ I guess I should not be all that surprised; they did put the person who created "Super Best Friends" in charge of this. Of course, she turned everyone into "Super Best Friends". Still, as they often say. if it isn't broke............... I am definitely not going to like Batgirl changing from the competent (baritone-sounding) commander into her "SBF" bubbly-voiced cuckoolander. Apparently, Zantanna has been upgraded to one of the main girls now. (She's the girl that I first thought was Raven standing between Bumblebee and Jessica Cruz GL). The art shift is obviously bad enough, but if they make the "attitude" of the show more wacky than the webisodes (not to mention the full-length movies), then I will not be watching this anymore. PS; boy, is that little girl a fan or what???? I didn't even know they had dolls (figures??) of some of the characters (Barry Allen, Amanda Waller) -
I keep telling all of the millennials that if social media existed back in the late 70's and the 80's, then Marvel would have given up trying to make movies altogether. The Marvel fans that claim that DC movies SUCK have apparently never seen any of these gems. The only way you can watch these films is with two little robots sitting on either side of you.

S06.E18: The Visions of Norman P. Horowitz
Twilight Man replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Elementary [V]
Extant. I also miss whatever insanity "Zoo" is coming up with this week. and don't forget Taxi Brooklyn, where a female police detective lost her driver's license and must now work with a Brookyln taxi driver (no, seriously). As Joel McHale used to say, The Summer Season of Silly Shows is the gift that keeps on giving. -
Deadpool invades your favorite DVD movies. What, too much??? According to the marketing department, there is no such thing as too much. With Deadpool 2 out on DVD, Deadpool himself has now "invaded" the DVD covers of some of your favorite movies (all by the same movie company that produced Deadpool 2, of course) You can now get "Special Deadpool Photobomb Edition DVDs" of movies such as City Slickers, The Day After Tomorrow, The Devil Wears Prada, The Terminator, Fight Club, 127 Hours, The Martian, Alien X-Men: Apocalypse (of "course" he invaded the X-Men films) and many, many, many, many, many, many, many others. What, too much?????? the movies themselves are still the same (Deadpool, in the real world, "still" does not have "that" ability "YET"). Say what you will; the marketing for this franchise is pure genius.

Let's just say that after his disastrous choices of new programming, Silverman was telling "everybody" (owners of affiliates, ad companies, etc.) not to worry because the Summer Olympics would have been a "big draw" to NBC while the other two channels (as I pointed out, this was around 1978-1981; There was no Fox (let alone CW), and cable TV was in its infancy) would be showing reruns of their shows (summer programming, as well, was really "not a thing" during this time). When the US gov announced that they were "pulling out" of the Olympics, you can bet that the moment he heard that, Silverman looked up to the sky and said "Why do you hate me???" NBC lost about 80 million in ad revenues by not showing the games, so it was hardly "the straw that broke the camel's back", but by that point, everyone clearly believed that everything that Silverman touched turned to crap. As you can read from this article, Silverman was also responsible for the "rural purge" (mentioned earlier in this thread), but he replaced those shows on CBS with some good entertainment like All In The Family, and Mary Tyler Moore, then he went to ABC and greenlit such shows as Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Love Boat (another reason why people keep referring to SuperTrain as "Love Boat" on a train). NBC thought he could make their network #1, but it obviously was not to be.

So, where do I even begin???? Well, this would more or less explain it............ The Silverman era of NBC --- from 1978 to 1981, NBC would give us such "classics" as: The Waverly Wonders (a vehicle for Joe Namath that ran three weeks) David Cassidy: Man Undercover Mrs. Columbo (starring ST:Voy's Kate Mulgrew) SuperTrain (Good Lord, don't ask!!!) Pink Lady & Jeff The 1980 summer Olympic fiasco and The Brady Brides!!! (I just had to put that last. LOL!!) Amazingly, one of the few bright spots was greenlighting a show called Hill Street Blues, a show that become the cornerstone of an ultimate resurrection that would bring NBC to a greatness that we all remember (or heard about) called "Must See TV". (Of course, that was all done without Silverman).

"This music isn't helping him to calm down." "The music isn't for him; it's for you. Turtles can't hear very well." "Wait, what about that list of music you said that he likes and dislikes??" "Oh, that was pure rubbish." "You mean we've been listening to Goatwhore once a week for no reason!! I practically have all those songs stuck in my head forever now!!" "And thus the reason. Opening your mind to different genres of music can be quite enlightening." "And you didn't do this to annoy me??" "That was purely secondary; I can assure you."

The roast was filmed this past weekend, and will air on the 29th on Comedy Central. Please don't click on this link (or any others) if you do not want spoilers. Obviously, lots of "Moonlighting" jokes, jokes about his "incredible" singing career, and his marriage to Demi Moore (who, of course, was there). And, apparently, Dennis Rodman made an awful joke about Bruce, bombs, and North Korea. (because what else would you expect from Rodman??) So far, no Hudson Hawk jokes shown, Blergh, but this is just a small sample. See you all on the 29th!!!

Finally caught the episode on a rerun today. So, five years ago, on the revival of "Dallas", John Henderson (John Ross Ewing) has a conversation with Larry Hagman, who had actually died several weeks before. They had "spliced" together several bits and pieces of conversation (the "it's gonna be my masterpiece" was actually from the second episode that year, for example) and seriously did a good job making it look like the conversation was real.

When I saw the "Hammilton" skit, it just reminded me of Green Jelly and that silly heavy metal comedy song. Did you know that Pauly Shore voiced one of the little pigs??? Between Vanilla Ice, that song, and the Macarena. I think we were willing to listen to "anything" back in the early 1990's.

So, I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this show yet (with all the other ones we are mentioning) ------ in the summer - fall of 1980, Suzanne Somers left "Three's Company". When she tried immediately starring in a show on another network, ABC sued her and the other network. (The network heads were very angry at Somers and her contract dispute). Despite the fact that Somers' new show and character was not Chrissy Show, ABC claimed that the character was "similar" to Chrissy, and the other network did not want to deal with the litigation, so they just scraped her show and went elsewhere. Everything seems to be (somewhat) amicable so far between ABC and Barr, and I clearly do not know if the status quo has changed much since 1980, but if Barr tries to create a "dueling" show, ABC might challenge her.

Don't forget "The Hogan Family" ---- speaking of which ----- They did make fun of recasting Becky by having the family watching "Bewitched" and complaining about the Two Darrins. I seriously believe that they would poke fun at themselves once again. I keep complaining to DC Comics --- I totally said that Batman was going to do that. Where's my paycheck?? I knew all along that there was another Power Girl --- are you going to pay me for this??? DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!!! I'M STILL WAITING!!!!!!

Ha Ha Ha Yes; I just wanted to do the ol' "Rule of Three" gag. but, yes, there are at least "a few" more (How about "The Golden Palace", anyone, anyone) and that is just counting the times where they "created a new show" ------ There are still an endless number of shows where they replaced a main cast member and kept the show going, sometimes in the first season (Charlie's Angels, A Different World), sometimes after several seasons (Scrubs, The Equalizer, Profiler, etc.) Ha Ha Ha --- and (I think) Mayberry R.F.D. (which I mentioned) was on for four seasons as well!!!! and (once again) several of the shows that I mentioned that replaced one of their leads in the very first season (The Hogan Family, A Different World, Charlie's Angels) managed to continue for several more seasons.
-
Long live "The Hogan Family", er, I mean, long live "Mayberry R.F.D"., er, ah, long live "The Conners"!!!!!!

So, what concert did you attend?? and what song did Al sing at the end??? From Buddy Holly to PUSA, Weird Al sang "any song" as an encore for his Ill-Advised Vanity Tour.

"There's only one thing I can do.......... time-travel!!!" "DAMN IT, BARRY- oh wait, never mind." and once again, Kara proves that Barry is the "only" idiot who can mess things up even worse while time-travelling. So, two Supergirls??? Oh God, please don't remind me of Countdown. (OK, so it happened in the last issue of "52". but you get the idea.) One of them time traveled into the future and worked with the Legion, the other went to the bottle city and teamed up with Power Girl (although I must admit, I really loved PG's version of the Nightwing costume). Oh good. Evil Supergirl; much better. This will give Melissa a chance to practice more of her evil posing that she did during the Earth-X storyline. Evil Russian Supergirl; still better.

They had a lot of shows on TV at that time that offered a "good message". Some of them specifically mentioned "you-know-who" (Touched By An Angel, Promised Land. Joan of Arcadia) and some didn't (Quantum Leap, Early Edition, Wonderfalls). We sincerely need some more shows like that now (and less reality crap).

I hated it when they did that during episodes of Smallville (usually to produce a cheap way to make it look like Clark was moving super-fast to save somebody). ((as well as aforementioned dramatic effect)).
