Dean killing himself in s2 wouldn't have brought Sam back to life, which was the entire point of Dean making the deal. Deans angst both textually and subtextually was that Dean believed he failed at protecting Sam. Not because Dean couldn't live without Sam. He couldn't live with Sam being dead. That is Canon dialogue from Dean and , back then the show and tell storytelling matched. Might be the last time that happened. As an aside, I don't think anyone in the show itself back then, was saying Dean and Sam were erotically co dependent. And it always seemed to me that Carver had Zachariah take that swipe at them to get Adam to say yes. It was Zachariah being a dick and talking shit about the boys. Yet it somehow became interpreted that Zachariah was bring truthful. Of course I think it was never meant to be accepted as a fact of what the show wanted the audience to believe. I don't even think codependency was on the table at all. Enmeshed relationship, yes 100%, but not codependency. So whatever shit he said about the boys was not what Dean's deal in s2 was about. To me, that was always a joke that was co-opted by fandom to support the agendas for Wincest and bronlies. The show itself was mocking that notion, not confirming it via a dick angel who was on a mission. What I have always wondered is did Dean's deal save Sam from Hell. There is an argument to be made that Sam being tainted by demon blood ensured he would already have been in Hell upon death but canonically it was never mentioned one way or the other where Sam's soul landed.

Can someone explain to me when Sam dumped Jack on Cas? Did I miss an episode??

I never liked Mary and for all the complaints about Mary being fridged in the pilot (I don't think she was) she sure seems to have been fridged again for Jack's story. And it was so bad. They threw in a bunch stupid scenes in flashbacks to try and retcon her being a shit mom and saying it's just so complicated. NO it's really not, show. Not in this world. And sorry, but her initials being in the table at the bunker is fucking BS. I have so much else to gripe about but I need to gather my thoughts. This episode actually pissed me off and I just don't care that she's dead.
-
I 100% believe if Mary doesn't die, it's because she will be revealed to be pregnant with John's child. Or maybe she'll have been blasted by Jack back in time or to another universe.

Then it's a digitally altered image. It's clearly got more sheen, sharper edges. Looks photoshopped to me. Their faces look shopped. YMMV
-
So they just use digital art now instead of actually using stills from the show? LOL

Hmm, it does seem like Nick just can't die. So maybe Jack actually killed him the only way possible.
-
I hope it doesn't because to me that implies that Mary cares more about Jack, or even Nick, than her own children. I hope it's more that the writing was bad, the acting from Sam Smith, IMO has never been great so maybe she was supposed to be conveying concern for Jack's soul rather than empathy for Nick's suffering. That was more my point. IMO, she shed more tears over John returning than she ever has over her children that has been shown, at least. I have no interest in a Mary Winchester who spares more love, humanity, concern and kindness for Lucifer's son and an AU Bobby than her own children. And for me it doesn't matter if it's a writing problem. They can't course correct Mary's relationship to her sons via a not!son and have me like her at all. That makes it worse for this viewer. At this point, I would rather the show reveals to me that Mary actually did come back soulless or she's been some demon or angel's meatsuit this whole time.

I think I must have missed something in my own commentary that said that Mary shouldn't feel anything about it. I said she shouldn't empathize with him. But she already kind of is a robot IMO. And I'm not being snarky. She's aloof and cold to her children unless she's begging for them to still love her. She's pretty self centered IMO.
-
What a weird direction to take my comment. We are talking about a fictional universe after all. Nick is not an innocent and if Mary is empathizing with Nick at all, given what he was willing to do by resurrecting the entity that made Sam's life miserable, and whom she was so worried would never forgive her for the deal she made, then Mary is well and truly dead to me (I mean more than she already is). If Mary was worried about what torturing Nick would do to Jack's psyche and humanity then fine. But it seems like you're suggesting that Nick shouldn't have suffered at all for his terrible actions and his willingness to reintroduce Satan himself to the universe, the entity who stole Jack's Grace and tried to kill Jack. I mean Nick is not a sympathetic character in my opinion, so he got what he had coming to him.

And if Dean does pick humanity over Jack, I think Sam and Cas will hate him for doing it. And the manner of death, will be Dean being the one to put Jack in the Malak Box. He might even do it without Sam and Cas because they talked him out of putting himself in the box so surely they will not approve of him helping put Jack in the Box.
-
And conversely, Jack promised Cas, that if he had to kill Dean in order to kill Michael, that Dean didnt matter, and his argument was that Dean would want that as well, which Dean never knew was said. Jack wasn't showing any signs of being a toddler during that argument with Cas. Jack was regressed to Toddler!Jack solely to make Jack do bad things because he has no control so his NougatSue status is not harmed. If the show would have picked a lane for Jack and didn't bounce him from angsty teen to woobie toddler Jack (they had Jack literally say he was two a couple of episodes ago yet when he was talking to Cas about Dean he wasn't coming off as young), then whatever happens between Dean and Jack, it would be more of equals battling. Unfortunately, I fully expect that now that he's back to poor woobie two year old Nougat Jack, they'll set up Dean to be the one to take him out, say something mean to Cas, and it causes Sam to become peacemaker. And Dean will be the villain for even thinking of killing Jack.

I have no problem with it. Nick deserved that painful death for even thinking about resurrecting Lucifer. He knew all the awful things Lucifer did in his vessel. It's all plot contrivance to move pieces into place even if it makes no sense.

If it's going like I suspect, it's ye olde bait and switch, because it will have only served Jack and Lucifer's story. It might even be leading to Samifer, but that would really undo Sam refusing Lucifer back in s11 which it seems like Dabb took great pains to make sure Sam got to do. At this point, Jack is essentially the quasi-Sam surrogate character. They MIGHT take Jack to full Anakin Skywalker but I don't think they will make it be because he was really evil all along. For me, theyvcould claim foreshadowing all the way back to early s13 with Jack watching the Clone Wars and him saying he doesn't like Anakin. I don't believe this show will ever let Nickifer truly die unless it's for a final Samifer moment. -
The Walking Dead in the Media

And to think, they already had a built in lead character with Coral in whom viewers were already invested emotionally and would have tuned in to see what happens to him on a spin-off. Rick could have continued to battle with Negan and let Coral go off and lead a community or Rick could have left and Coral continues to lead a new group. They done messed up , AAron. -
I was thinking about that same thing and wonder if he's really talking to Jack who is off screen for reasons..
-
Except Michael is dead. There is nothing to suggest that NougatSue will be shown to be wrong on this point. He killed the snake when he was trying to be kind...and I see no reason (sadly) why he wouldn't have killed Michael which was his intention.
-
ETA I mean to me it's far more interesting to have them show us that grace is being siphoned from an angel or an angel decided to make a pact with a demon. Then we would be left thinking...h why are they doing it and what will it get them . I don't consider myself a lazy viewer so I don't need it spoon fed but some clear look at shenanigans sets up a better mystery MO YMMV
-
It's still bad storytelling IMO when the audience is trying to fill in the the blanks on how they acquired it. We shouldn't have to head Canon the whole show!

I've already braced myself for this eventuality, which I will be okay with ONLY if we get OG!Michael!Dean vs Samifer.
