  1. He has every right, as does his wife, to be pro-Israel and he has earned the right as a comedy legend to have his own views on comedy today. I thought DL did a decent job. I didn’t find too many sketches that were funny. I liked seeing Punky break for a minute—she usually keeps it together very well.
  2. In 1978, we went to Barbados for our honeymoon. It wasn’t thought of as South America in any way. Just Caribbean, used to belong to Britain so it’s an English speaking country. It was raining when we landed but the rest of our honeymoon was pure beauty. i agree with everyone. Whatever the rule may be, no matter who was originally at fault, there is no way the crew should be either a) 90 minutes behind or b) never showed up.
  3. I’ve only read one page so far as I’m a day late watching, but I do not feel for Liz in any way shape or form. As many have said already, if you want to go on a show where you will be isolated and deprived of most food, but you are allergic to the food available, that’s just stupid. I don’t like Q, but Liz being hungry is not Q’s problem. And if you and your daughter have this unbreakable ritual of Wednesday night at Applebee’s, then stay home with her and do your thing. People come on Survivor for many reasons, but a million dollars is one of them. Liz has said often that she’s rich and doesn’t need the money. You don’t need the money, you can’t eat the food, it’s imperative to you that you maintain a ritual with your daughter from the other side of the world? Why are you here, other than to see yourself on TV? As to Tiff, I liked her, but this contagious disease of non-idol playing seems to be spreading.
  4. On one level I think Q was just plain old ravenously hungry. He was insistent that four people should skip the challenge so they all could get rice. On another level I agree that a game in which he’s not General Q is a game he no longer wants to play. I don’t like Venus because I do think she credits herself far too much. I don’t like Liz for the same reason and because she’s done nothing until the Tevin vote, and because it’s stupid to play on a game show with little food when you’re allergic to the food that’s available. i like Charlie, he has a social game and a sense of humor, except that I despise how his whole world is Taylor Swift. i do like Ben, Hunter and Maria. Mixed emotions on Tiffany and Kenzie. I liked Q at the beginning but he’s self-imploded. I think I wanted Tim to win, but that’s a moot point now.
  5. One character that I used to love but lately made me shudder is Leon. When the Blacks moved in, Viveca and the crew, there were a lot of really funny episodes. Leon made me laugh all the time. As the years went by, although it’s clear JB made Larry crack up, as a viewer it became monotonous to me because EVERY remark from Leon was sexual. He used to be a lot more nuanced, so at this point I won’t miss him.
  6. I agree, except that I wouldn’t say he didn’t have a decent job. All honest work is decent. But he certainly wasn’t truthful about his jobs nor about his (supposedly chaste) widowed lifestyle. Whether or not Theresa or any of the women knew the truth before it became public, that I don’t know if we know? 100% yes on Leslie. Maybe she would’ve moved in with him had he chosen to marry her, but in hindsight he is the opposite of a good catch.
  7. Maybe they’re worried that if the Golden Bachelor version turned out to be a dud, they won’t keep getting invited back to give “advice” to the young ones on the regular franchise.
  8. I absolutely agree, but I think that’s the same for the young couples in the franchise as well. For the seniors, who don’t have decades ahead, I was hopeful this would work. Until Gerry was revealed to be a pretender, that is. i just read an article in the NY Post online, and the only time Theresa mentioned “sad” was about having to return the ring to Neil Lane, lol.
  9. All of the above ring true to me. I didn’t much care for Gerry as he is just not my type, but I did think at first he was as portrayed, a grieving widower ready to try again. But, as Tink referenced, everything important in his story was a lie, other than he was in fact a widower. She shouldn’t have gone through with it but of course—-TV, money, some fame, paid-for wedding—and since they never lived together, not even in the same state, I don’t see how that could’ve lasted.
  10. Well, it was what we were all expecting. As soon as the title said “No Lessons,” I’m sure we all figured that the obvious was happening—-Larry David showing the world that he would double down on the much berated Seinfeld finale. Jerry was fun, though, and Auntie Rae was great. I love Dean Norris when he was Hank, but I thought his Southern accent was pretty, pretty bad. Who was the prosecutor? Greg Kinnear? I’ll miss the show but the time really had come. None of the latter seasons were as hilarious as the first few years.
  11. I agree, it was very entertaining! But I think that was Matt Gutman, not David Muir.
  12. I prefer not to be spoiled, and I think RS is an obnoxious asshole. I remember reading his site after the finales and he was so insulting to anyone who did not believe he was the oracle of truth. The only time I recall finding out in advance what RS said the conclusion would be was Desi’s season, and he was wrong. As to audience reaction, as a New Yorker I’ve been to quite a few shows. David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, some game shows, Celebrity Jeopardy with Alex Trebek at Radio City. There are “applause” signs and a hype man who comes out to tell the audience how to ramp up the reactions. I haven’t been to a reality show finale but clearly the audience is instructed to act over-dramatically. Gasps and eyerolls and hands clasped to mouths and waving signs that they were given at the show. I like Daisy and if she were really such an attention hog, she would have taken the Bachelorette role. I think Jenn is beautiful and I’m happy to have an Asian lead and that is it. If her shtick is to act like a freshman sorority girl, I’m going to retch.
  13. For maybe the first time since the incarnation of SNL, I refused to watch. I’m not going to watch someone who I think is not sympathetic enough to what Israelis have endured. My opinion.

    S07.E03: Capsized

I know I’m the outlier here, but I really don’t enjoy this show anymore. i know this show isn’t meant to be a Breaking Bad or something, but still, for me there is no tension, no stakes. We all know Bobby and Athena are not going to die. Not when they are trapped with water up to their chins in part two, not when the ship is capsized, not when Bobby has to climb upside down with a rigged up rope to rescue Norman. Also, I know Angela Basset is considered a great actress, but I’ve never thought so, because she always spits out her words, always has an overacted angry tone, and I never find her believable. The actors who play Chim and Hen are the most nuanced actors in my opinion. They’re the reason I’ve been watching every season, and I hated when Chin disappeared in his search for Maddie. So again, I know 9-1-1 is meant to be cheesy and over-the-top. I thought I’d see if I liked I better on ABC, but I just don’t enjoy it. I know everyone else here does like the campy stuff, which I can tolerate, but I was actually bored, so my time has come to remove it from the DVR.
  15. https://ew.com/survivor-46-jem-hussain-adams-interview-unaired-move-blindsided-8621418 A VERY angry Jem, and she refuses to ever get a Siga tattoo. Also, I felt a little bad for Tim at Tribal, because on the journey, he Hunter and Q were all about how they were the strong men on their tribes, but then at Tribal Charlie or someone said “we don’t have a Q or Hunter on our tribe.”
  16. Yes, I watch after the show so as to condense it without the commercials. I prefer one post-show thread. Goodbye and good riddance to Bhanu. The actor from IMDB was acting, in my opinion. Taking on the role of the pathetic man who relies on the goodness of others to pity him. Didn't work and it’s his own fault that he screwed up the last challenge. I know it’s mostly due to Maria that her team lost, but Tim also cost them a lot of time when he kept upending the float.
  17. Rachel strikes me as the friend a man would call for advice when he's arguing with his girlfriend. No romance on his end. Kelsey seems to be the one. He couldn’t wait to be affectionate with her and he said “I missed you,” several times, before she said it. And he looked like he wanted to drown in her. i was taken aback that he said to Daisy the same things about falling in love and has been for awhile. I miss early Bachelor when those words weren’t said until the proposal. But even though he said the same words, to my eyes the same intensity and pleading gazes weren’t there. Maybe Leslie told that to Kelsey on her own, or maybe producer manipulation, but to me it doesn’t make a difference. The producers hired her to chat with Kelsey and they knew that Leslie feels this way. So it was a perfect setup to have her make the one statement that is upending Kelsey now. I still think she is the one and this is just Bachelor shenanigans. If it’s Daisy I’d be ok with that too. I like her and Kelsey, and I think Joey has been a wonderful Bachelor.
  18. Getting Lori into the club was a favor to Ted, though, not to Jeff. Which surprised me that he didn’t instead try to block Lori out of Ted-spite. Except, of course, that Larry is the “champion of the underdog.” lol
  19. Great episode. But how would women fill the tank in a pee-powered car? Can’t use the method suggested by Leon and approved by Larry, since we don’t have that equipment.
  20. It was a funny episode, but truly heartbreaking to watch. Particularly as Richard Lewis had a prominent part in this one, and of course the talk about the wills and all. .He really looked sickly, too, but I’ve thought that for the last few years. Fish stuck=Larry and Freddy. I should have seen that coming, but I didn’t.
  21. I was genuinely appalled when she first told him that she would not be kissing him because he kissed someone else, and she told him he needed to "learn your lesson". From what the previews show, if they’re not taken out of context, I think Maria’s dad will be very much about Joey having to tread carefully so as not to hurt his daughter. Or else.
  22. I agree with all this. Jenn is beautiful and it’s about time for an Asian lead. But I also found her off-putting. The nonchalance at that gorgeous drone display, and the at least three times she spoke about wanting to get naked, and smooching Joey in front of all the other girls. I think she’s too aggressive. She has that in common with Maria but in a different way. IMO a guy who claims to hate drama would not do well long-term with girls who want to stir the pot all the time. I like Rachel and she seems down to earth, but I don’t see a romantic connection.
  23. It all struck me as very much a teenager’s behavior—-“ I must leave at once!” then five minutes later, “ I didn’t mean it, I’m sorry,”—-then “I’m not kissing you after you kissed Jenn,” then planting a kiss on him right after. Or, if Maria thinks she’d playing hard to get, well that won’t work on a show where if you flounce out, you’re done. I really liked Lexi and I appreciated her very real conversation with Joey. I think Joey is fantastic, by the way, just for how he seems to actually pay attention to what each girl says when they are with him, and the gentle way he asks appropriate follow-up questions that show he’s truly listening to them. Plus he’s so cute!
  24. It’s so redundant and unnecessary. What else could Maria mean, otherwise? An honest lie, a dishonest truth? I think she is too manipulative and too much of a drama queen for a lovely man who has repeatedly said he doesn’t want drama. I agree that she is intriguing to him, but that will wear him out eventually. I thought he would let her go tonight but I suppose the producers said “not yet.” The one thing I do like about Maria is the same as what I like about Daisy and Rachel…natural looks. I think Kelsey, the actress, was just acting and looking for publicity so I’m fine with her going home. Jenn was getting on my nerves. I’m glad he’s going to Rachel’s hometown but I think she’s more in the Friend Zone. I feel like he’s most drawn to Kelsey. I do think he likes Daisy but I think there’s some admiration for her, not sure about romantic feelings.
