  1. I'd always thought they missed a golden opportunity to bring back MB's event full circle. When Phoebe gets a job at The Bay Mirror, one of the sportswriters is doing an interview with Cal Green (the man who according to the vision and Leo's exposition in that episode brutalizes Phoebe's friend and Phoebe uses her magic to punish him). Then we learn Cal Green (who is unknown to Paige or his relationship to the events in MB) asks Paige out on a date. Perhaps he drugs her drink or does something equally horrible and this sets off Phoebe and she is doing everything she can to avoid using her powers on him. Then the sisters find an alternate way to set things right.
  2. I suspect she would have been like Paige in Season 4 - working as a social worker or counselor of some sort. It seemed that way based on her abilities, her empathy (had it been written correctly) and her studies at college. She never would have ended up at The Bay Mirror with an advice column. Although Connie Burge didn't approve of Cole's character, I would have loved a better resolution for him. At the very least get back to why his father's soul was sealed in that glowing orb and other things about his background. I'd also like to think the powers would have been written properly and show them progress naturally. The sisters were supposed to have three powers each and once Paige entered the picture, she was a wildcard of powers! I definitely agree that the sisters were shortchanged in the "power" department. It seemed every enemy they went up against was able to do stuff they couldn't! Even the Stillman sisters had cool abilities! Once it was announced Billie and Kristie were meant to be the Ultimate Power, I was seriously peeved! They were not supposed to be the most powerful witches the world had ever known (something that was told to viewed literally from day 1). In the department of wishful thinking: One storyline I think TPTB should have done (somewhere between season 3 and 5) was have an April Fool's episode in which we see an episode of Charmed in progress, but have all the genders reversed! I had imagined Victor being the "Patty" and perhaps another actor pulled in to be "Gramps", while Brian Krause, Julian McMahon and maybe TW King played the Charmed siblings. Since it would be a one off, who cares if some of the characters they played were dead or evil by then?
  3. I'd be delighted, but why deprive you of the fantastic opportunity to do it yourself??? The site is legit and you can send it anonymously. Prices are pretty reasonable too: Send the poop!! I'm looking forward to sending some Bitcheroo's way in the near future!! Seriously though, I'm sorry you lost your job but think of it as a new opportunity. Can you at least file for unemployment?
  4. I think I may know why HR recruitment is so bad: it's run by people like this woman. Notice the crazy eyes!
  5. Actually Captains DO have the authority to marry a couple. If Brides Magazine is any indication of authority, they say this:
  6. How about Daniel Dae Kim? He's a proven actor, familiar to US audiences and ethnic Korean.
  7. Who? What? Who? Rent it! Remo was a movie from the 80s (based on a series of novels) in which he goes on secret spy missions. Fred Ward played him in that film, and he was awesome in it!
  8. I think he's make a great Remo Williams if they decided to reboot it (RIP Fred Ward). I was annoyed at this. I know it's a drama but the least they could do in a season finale is allow a little happiness at the end.
  9. One of our photogs was nearly run off the road on live TV! We have a segment every morning called "Morning Rover" which is a photog travelling in a station vehicle (station logo et al) around town to show traffic in real time at driver level. It has been helpful in showing accidents and fires in real time as well. Today he was on the freeway as usual (in the far right lane) when out of nowhere, a car carrier (the kind that carries cars between dealerships) nearly runs him off the road! It was like the driver never bothered to look in his mirrors! It happened on live TV during our traffic segment and even the traffic reporter was taken aback! We rolled on it so I was able to loop it and we repeated it for about 2 hours. Don't know if we can identify the driver, but he better be careful or someone won't be as good a driver as our man was! Bright side? One of my work friends had a birthday today, so he, myself and my edit partner had a mini celebration! I bought 3 PinkBox poop donuts (with luscious buttercream frosting). It was great!
  10. I remember seeing an interview with one of the former child actors who played one of her sons. Doris personally called him to let him know that he wouldn't be acting on the show anymore but it wasn't his fault, (and certainly wasn't her call) but it was a network decision. Both boys were very sad to hear they were let go as they enjoyed working on the set with Ms. Day.
  11. A twofer in a rerun of Emergency! In the episode, "Kids" (1972), Roy and Johnny rescue a young boy (about age 8) from a hole he fell into while playing with friends. When he gets to the hospital, Dr. Brackett notices he boy seems hurt worse than expected from his fall, including a minor skull injury. He suspects the boy is being abused by at least one of his parents (specifically the stepfather). He reports it and it goes to trial but the good guys lose as there isn't enough evidence to prove it was the parents' abuse. Naturally, the boy's mother is in denial. Towards the end of the episode, we see the boy being wheeled into the emergency room with his mother looking on with a look of guilt on her face for letting it happen again. We don't officially know what happens to the boy this time. The second incident almost pushes Roy to quit the paramedic program! In, "Decision" (1972) Roy and Johnny go to the rescue of a man who was installing an engine into his car. The engine was suspended from the rafters in his carport, but the rafter broke and the engine landed on him and pinning him in the car. Roy and Johnny do everything they can and they get him to the hospital (including having the added complication that the ambulance antenna is lost on the way so they couldn't directly communicate with Rampart). The man's doctor was called to Rampart to help, but he doesn't think much of paramedics as they are not doctors. Dr. Brackett naturally tells him the program so far has made a lot of difference in saving lives for people hurt in the field. Unfortunately, the man dies and Roy is in a tailspin when the doctor tells him he thinks it was his fault the patient didn't get to the hospital sooner or if a real doctor had been there. Brackett and Johnny both try to remind Roy that sometimes you lose a patient despite your best efforts and not to quit. Later that day, another doctor (who happens to be at Rampart and a friend of the dismissive doctor) has a coronary right in the ER. Naturally, everyone springs into action but unfortunately, we learn the doctor died. Dixie is distraught and on a rare occasion, bursts into sobs as she tells of the doctor how despite being in a hospital surrounded by three competent doctors in an ER setting still couldn't save the man, but paramedics get the short end of the stick by professionals with too much hubris.
  12. I saw the show when it was first run and it was ok. Richard Dean Anderson was likeable so he sold the role for a lot of viewers at the time. It was also refreshing to see a TV hero who wasn't always using a gun to save the day and was so creative using whatever was on hand. CBS doe the longest time appealed to the older demographic so we had a lot of TV shows since the 80s like Murder She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder. Now they reboot shows older people remember like Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum PI. While I'm not YT dependent when it comes to information about things, the link I included is that of a seasoned blogger of pop culture stuff like comics, movies and TV . I've followed him and his show for years (his Batwahman reviews are awesome BTW) and he's been on the money so far. I'm certain this will be proven true.
  13. When I was a kid, there was a show which aired in syndication called Please Don't Eat The Daisies (based on the book and movie of the same name). It was the kind of show that aired on local superstations either in the AM or right after you got home from school. I remember the opening credits and the family pet was called "Ladadog". I always thought that was a funny name. Many years later, I discovered the books of Alfred Payson Terhune who wrote many books about collies (he was a breeder of champion Rough Collies whose lines exist to this very day) and one of those books was titled, "Lad: A Dog" (1919) Obviously, the family was rather literate to name their dog that, and prolific readers in the 60s when the show first debuted would have likely made the connection.
  14. I just heard about the Quantum Leap reboot from one of my favorite YT posters. I do not like the plans they apparently have for it and will not watch it!! It doesn't appear the Scott Bakula will be involved; if he is perhaps someone from the current cast may go looking for him, but I'm still not taking the bait.
  15. Sad when even the younger children from the Von Trapp Family grow old and die! According to a local news outlet in VT, they say she used to have her own newspaper column called Rosemary's Corner! Apparently she wrote to them so often, they decided to give her her own space! Apparently only her brother Johannes is left in that generation. Vangelis was my introduction to electronic music! When Chariots of Fire came out, the soundtrack was everywhere! The main theme used as a metaphor for hard work and training! Even in spoofs! Rest well dear Vangelis!
  16. Rarely does that happen. Management is always in denial and insist their way works, They'll just find two more people and not give it a second thought. My own mangers (Bitcheroo in particular) drive people off the job constantly but they never realize why or try to retain them longer.
  17. Just walked past a co-worker (one of our morning anchors) who had just bought a house. I congratulated her and she asked for some advice on "being an adult". I suggested things like changing the AC filters monthly (and recommended a great site I've used for quality American made filters) and started suggesting a few more things. She was puzzled at how much stuff has to be done! She mentioned she was worried about bugs she found in/near the plumbing. I offered to recommend a great exterminator (and she has to have one monthly to keep them at bay), but she said her friend was going to have his guy do it and she's hoping (I kid you not!) that the friend will go on paying for it!! Seriously, this woman makes 6 figures easily and she wants to piggyback off her friend over an exterminator???!!! I make a fraction of what she does and I pay mine!!!!
  18. I think it was "dribs and drabs". We've used that term for a long time. It's another way of saying it's coming along slowly or bit by bit.
  19. He was also part of The Monkees' 2016 album, "Good Times". He wrote "Our Own World" and "I Was There (And I'm Told I Had a Good Time)" the latter he co-wrote with Micky Dolenz. He played several instruments on the album as well. He helped make it the best Monkees record since the 60s IMO. He also helped with their Christmas album, "Christmas Party".
  20. You see a lot of this in Chicago Fire's spiritual ancestor, "Emergency!" There were times squad went out alone and other times with the engine, depending on the call.
  21. Wouldn't it be a book store and coffee shop then? My local Barnes & Noble already does that!
  22. Not Fred Ward!!!! So bummed! I loved Remo WiIliams! I always wished for more movie adventures!!
  23. I can only begin to imagine! If Bar Rescue taught me anything, it's that you need to have something that sets you apart from the competition. While imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I can't see "Olly's" surviving very long. It's also insulting to have a fake helmet on the wall. When that sneaky paramedic threatened to claim Violet was incompetent and that her boyfriend was not going to be able to be a good character witness (for obvious reasons), I kept whispering, "Kill her!" hoping she'd be hit from behind. She deserves it.
  24. I agree with the phrasing of being part of the "vision" of the company. At least you'll have a better idea of where you stand. However, if it turns out they are trying to get you to quit, do NOT give them that satisfaction. You keep working with a smile and get paid until you find a better option. If they fire you at least you can collect unemployment until you have a direction. The worst thing you can do it quit.
