Ariela and Biniyam: Haile Suspicious!
mamadrama replied to Christina's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I was thinking that now that she's back in the US she's been given some happy drugs. When I take medication for pain or anxiety I suddenly get super friendly and philosophical, too. -
Brandon seems...different. I don't want to offend by talking about male/female qualities and stereotypes, but so far he's not even coming across as though he's attracted to girls or anyone else. He looks like he's still going through the cooties phase.

It depends. It's generally contract work and therefore ebbs and flows. You might have a good-paying gig one month and then nothing but a few credit and background checks the next. It can be good money, but it's not necessarily steady.

It really is a common misconception and this show does nothing to help clarify it. 🙂 -

No, but I hear there's a card dangling from a lanyard that might help... -

These flowers say "Sure I accused you of getting pregnant on purpose and trying to use me to get into the US but I'm still glad you're here." -

Sure she's been a moody bitch in Paris and Iceland but once she's here in a strange country, without any of her friends and family, sharing the family home and seeing the in-laws for breakfast every day I'm sure she'll be just fine. -

Oh good. So he's bringing a two-faced crazy person to live on the farm and he's not even being honest with her. This oughta go well. IMO he has no intentions of marrying her, he just wanted her to come and visit and this way got he and the fam on TV. -

All of them. The University of Alabama color guards could parade in front of him and he'd still be like, "It's okay because it's crimson, not red." -

The Flowers in the Corn kids? Whenever I see them I can't decide whether they look like they're about to break free from the scary grandmother in the attic or go purging. -

The show also makes it look like the majority of the people who marry met through the internet and have only spent a couple of days/weeks/hours with the person. David/Annie, Loren/Alexei, & Paola/Russ are more indicative of the process-people who meet while living, working, or traveling abroad. -

Lol. It makes no sense. With the complications that can arise in the application process why are they waiting until the last minute? Most of us were like "Let's get this fucker started so that we can move on!" -

It really isn't. The K-1 was created to give the couples time in which to plan their wedding and their new life. It gives the couple a padding so that they can book a venue, rent an apartment, and generally prepare for their new life. The people on this show act like it's a "getting to know you" period, but that's not the way it was intended to be used, nor is it the way that the majority of us used it. The show portrays it this way simply because it adds an extra layer of drama. Applying for the visa is done with the understanding that you and your partner ALREADY know each other and have spent ample amount of time together. I've spent a fair amount of time helping others with the visa on the Visa Journey website. Many of us had already lived abroad together, dated for many years, and even had children with our partners by the time the visa came along. The show having the couples wait up until the end of the 90 days isn't realistic, either. Most of us got married quickly because we wanted to go ahead and get started on the permanent residency program. Until this show aired I hadn't met a single couple who waited until the 80th day or whatever to marry. It's much more common to marry within the first 2 weeks. The next part of the application process is expensive and complicated. It's also how our foreign spouse is able to work, too. While you CAN apply for a work permit while you wait, it's a separate (pricey) cost and can take months. You don't have to get a work visa, though. Once you marry and apply for Adjustment of Status you're legally allowed to work after it's approved. It can be a shorter process than waiting for the work visa. The portrayal of the K-1 visa and how it's used is one of the biggest flaws of the series. For those of us who married using the visa, it's also the most frustrating. -
Social Media: What's Up With Her?

Is there a link to the Whitney twerking in front of the dude clip? I somehow missed it and now I want to see it.

I'm glad people are donating to his cat shelter. We run a kitten rescue center and the pandemic has been very hard. We go through over 400lbs of cat food every 10 days. Between that, the massive amounts of litter and cleaning supplies, and vet visits it's crazy expensive. Our county shelter has a high kill rate, though, so it's important to try to find them homes.

He works in pesticide and that can be good money. We pay $100-300 every time we have to call one out. Still, though, you're right about the trips he plied her with. There are plenty of women, even attractive Russian women, who like the country life and would enjoy living there on the farm with him. This woman, however, who enjoys traveling and go go dancing doesn't seem like one of those women. It's like Anfisa and Jorge. He lured her in with visions of riches and international trips, but once she got to CA all of that stopped. He should've stuck with FarmersOnly.com

This was an earlier scene. Whitney continuing to refer to him as "getting a job at a bar" is really irritating.

The only person at the table getting the money is the person at the top ("dessert"). The appetizers bring the money, the desserts get to keep it, and the entrees are basically just there, hanging out, until the person at the top leaves, allowing everyone else to level up.

It is a real place and seemed to be doing well, all the more reason that Whitney minimizing it makes her look like an asshole.
