Ariela and Biniyam: Haile Suspicious!
mamadrama replied to Christina's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I can see them reading that comment and being like, "Oh yeah? 'Touching?' we'll see about that..." And Emily didn't even know what they were saying. Conversely, Ari went in full makeup to a doctor who spoke her language. But maybe we're being too hard on her. Obviously HER story is far more emotional than watching, oh, say a same sex couple who doesn't enjoy the same rights that hetero couples do. Watching her parents look down their noses at what Bibi can provide is a lot more touching than, oh, say a little girl who just can't wait to have her own room and two dads. -
Ariela and Biniyam: Haile Suspicious!

" You'll see more than a few tears," she says. "I feel confident to say that my storyline is going to be one of the more emotional ... heart-wrenching, and I think, funny -- I think people are gonna laugh. I think there's gonna be quite a few moments where people laugh." In particular, she says the birth of their child will be a must-see moment. "I think that is going to be one of the most emotional and, you know, amazing scenes for everyone to sort of experience," she says. "It's such a great part of the story. I really think people will feel really connected to me and to our whole story once they see that." I think TLC saw that interview and decided to take it as a challenge. -

I keep returning to this thread to read the part about their wares, mostly because I'm still having trouble believing it's true. I wouldn't want anything with any of their pictures on it (except maybe something kitschy like the funny coffee mugs) but they're not even one of the breakout couples. This isn't like Danielle screaming for her secks and throwing the Binder of Evudense. Or Jesse and all his illusions. Or Zied and his so mach work. Or Larissa declaring that whoever's against the queen will die from her balcony staircase. Half the time I forget these two are even on the show. Should've seen it coming, though. In one of the very first interviews, before the show even aired, she was carrying on about how touched we'd all be when we watched her amazing birth. -
Now I'm wondering if Conway's story about the hitman was even true. It sounds crazy to make something like that up, but she DOES come across as a little nuts so...

Kenneth and Armando: Don't Fuck This Up For Us, TLC

We aren't connected on Twitter so it must've been the hashtag. My kids saw it and thought I was cool for about 3 seconds. -

S02.E22: Never Stop Fighting

It's the acting like they're going to call it off and the whole will they/won't they that gets to me. You DO realize Deavan/Libby/Whoever that even if you don't have another ceremony you're still married, right? -
For the first 15 minutes of this episode my 13yo son and I entertained ourselves by following most of Twit's lines with "Because of/with his wife and baby." (Knowing that the baby hadn't yet arrived and that Chase isn't married.) Like... Twit: Unfortunately, Chase can't quarantine with me- Because of his wife and baby. Twit: Now he's going against the plan- Because of his wife and baby. Twit: I don't know how he feels about the ring, and now everything just feels weird- Because of his wife and baby. It was amazing how many times that worked.

Listening to Conway talk about wanting to hire a hitman to take out two adults and two kids was strange. IMO she didn't come across as embarassed, apologetic, or any of the things one might expect. I realize she was in the throes of addiction, and maybe some other issues, at the time but even watching her talk about it now with all the time that's passed she seemed a little off.

I still sleep with my mom when we go over and stay with her. It's fun. We lie there and watch movies and snack. But, then again, I don't take up half the bed, so... Whitney minimalizing Chase's feelings and ambition pissed me off. He could be "more successful" working at a bar in Charlotte? Maybe HIS idea of success is different from hers. Maybe HIS idea is to co-own and manage a bar in a nice seaside town-a place where he can buy a cute little house, raise a child near the beach... 😉 And if she's going to make a list of what her town vs what his town offers, he's the one with the location dependent job. I get that having Babs stay with Whitney is safer, but I hated how she kept going on about how she wouldn't "let" her mom go home. Bitch, she's 40 years older than you. You don't "let" her do anything. It irritates me when she talks about her parents, especially her mother, like one of her pets. Speaking of pets... Chase directed more personality and softness towards the poodle than he's ever shown towards Whitney.

It depends on where she adopted her from. Our animal shelter doesn't require home visits or applications. You literally just show up, pay the $35, and leave with the dog of your choice. Cats are free. Yes, it's scary.

Both my son and my dad have been fighting cancer since June and have been through several rounds of chemo, radiation, and surgeries during the pandemic. I actually got COVID during my dad's first surgery and wound up in the same hospital myself. COVID sent me into a mild heart attack, and even though that was 7 months ago I have still not completely recovered. I'm what they're calling a "long hauler." At LEAST, during all of this, I was with my husband and kids at home (when I wasn't contagious). So I felt for Babs in this episode. Whitney can spare me with her fake relationship, my real sympathy was for her parents. Also, Whit, Ryan wasn't being an asshole. He was being reasonable. What DOES Chase have in Greensboro...? @LibertarianSlut I turned 40 during quarantine and COVID has caused me complications that I may never fully recover from. The media focuses on the death rate, but there are a slew of other health issues it can cause, some long term. Whitney isn't just overweight, she's morbidly obese. IMO she probably has health problems that haven't been publicly disclosed. Her worrying about getting COVID is one of the few times that she's been realistic about her health. It SHOULD be a wake up call about her weight. But probably not.

Well, so far the only people I haven't ruled out are the producers...

S02.E22: Never Stop Fighting
mamadrama replied to Neurochick's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way
I can see why that might bug you. If his religion, family's opinion, and location mean so much to him, though, then a local person who fits into those parameters might be a better fit. It would be easier than trying to change Brittany into something she's not. At this point he can either accept her for who she is or find someone who's more in line with what he's expecting out of a relationship. -
They downed half a bottle of alcohol in 10 minutes. Secrets and liquor don't mix.

When Claire's husband came into the bedroom to talk to her I was struck by how gray everything was: the walls, the bedding, the cushions on the window seat, her top... I've been so caught up in the story that sometimes I forget how good the set and cinematography are.
-
I did eventually watch it, I just had to ease myself into it. I'm a read the ending first kinda gal.

Oh Lord, my son and I had to ff that scene. The cringe factor was so high because you KNEW what was coming. It's not that I didn't want her to get caught, we were just feeling some secondhand embarassment for the other teacher who was all like WTF.
-
Maybe there never was a spark. She's made a point of saying that she's spent her life doing what she's "supposed" to do. Maybe he was the kind of guy she thought she was meant to be with. It may have been easier for her to convince herself of that earlier on. Her childhood/past had a lot going on in it. Claire does not seem to mentally well at this point. It's not just about her feelings towards her husband-in addition to sleeping with her underage student (who she seems to actually think she "loves"), she's engaging in other risky behavior as well. I don't think this was ever about her "falling" for someone because she's no longer attracted to her husband, this was about her having some kind of interior crisis and lashing out in as many ways as she feels like she can.

It's not about looks. Eric's been "adulted" by his mother. He takes care of his brothers and has taken on more of a partner role than that of a son. He's had to grow up faster than this friends and therefore seems to feel a little outside of them. This is shown throughout the series. he probably feels older than the girls his age and, therefore, feels like the teacher is more on his level. (He's wrong, but that's part of what this is about.) She has also spent a considerable amount of time grooming him. As the adult and the person in the position of power she has influence over him in ways that the girls his age do not. This ranks her a little higher. The fact that his friends think she's "hot" helps. In this kind of situation the adults are judged on a different scale and the bar is a little lower when it comes to looks. The "snotty" attitude actually helps her case. It's kind of the ice queen thing. Some people are attracted to that because if, to the outside world, the person is aloof and distant but to YOU they're attentive and can crack their shell a bit then it's a bit of an ego stroke. The high school girl is friendly and obviously into him. The teacher, though, requires some work. It's an achievement. The fact that our culture has sexualized and fetishized female teachers for decades now also plays into it. In Hollywood bagging the female teacher has been a source of achievement. if an older woman sleeps with you then it MUST mean that your sexual prowess is top notch. After all, if you can sexually gratify an "older woman" then you've got skillz. Doesn't matter what she looks like. Hence the whole "I'm the MAN." We see it in music, TV shows, music videos...Hell, before she died Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili were doing "Hot For Teacher" nights at clubs. There are so many factors involved in this. I feel sorry for Eric. He SHOULD be dating the pretty, seemingly sweet girl his age. And I think a part of him wants to be dating her. Once he gave into this fantasy, though, it completely took over. Hard to return back to the other way now. Sorry @BlackberryJam I just saw your post and see that we're saying similar things. The popular kids I knew were some of the loneliest, most confused kids in the school. Kids hide that in different ways. I think it's dangerous to assume that the ones with "problems" are only the loners. He's giving out several signs of things not being well. Unfortunately, the only person who seems to see them is the one who uses those things to groom him.

Maybe she misunderstood the question and thought they were asking how much she'd GAINED over the pandemic? 😉 The person who comes up with the best "post pandemic pounder plan" is gonna make a fortune when this whole thing is over.

S02.E22: Never Stop Fighting
mamadrama replied to Neurochick's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way
Jenny's all, "I came here under false pretenses, lied to you about my intentions, sponged off you for months, and sneaked around with your son under your own roof all the way pretending to be your friend. I have no idea WHY you don't like me..." Since Covid's caused half my hair to fall out and I already have a 5-head (as seen in avatar) I hate to pick on people with similar domes. Since Deaven's a tool, though, I'll make an exception. Her hairline seems to dislike her as much as the rest of us because it's already halfway off her head. I don't even care that Kenny's a crybaby. I'll put up with his telenovela theatrics as long as I can keep seeing sweet little Hannah look excited at the thought of seeing her two dads marry. Ari needs to go home. Bini needs to stop knocking foreign women up if he wants to actually be a part of his child's life. -
I agree. The TLC money is small; the fame (even low-level) and the benefits it can bring is worth more. Some of these people are making $10,000 or more a month through hustling efforts.

Josh & Aleksandra: The Missionary Position
mamadrama replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I was just saying that I personally don't care. Obviously they're on our TV and are therefore fair game to criticize and discuss. My comment is a year old and I barely remember making it. -
I'm left feeling...nothing. The acting was good. The story was...okay. I realize this was more about characterization and subtly and not really a murder mystery per se, but I felt like the pacing and the filming made it FEEL like a mystery. I think it could've been more economical and parred down at least an episode or two.
