  1. All these Reno shows are like this with homeowners who do things like live with a broken facet for years. I mean buy a $100 facet and install it or pay a plumber $200 to install. Why live like that and then give a decent budget for renos? People are weird. For the garburator issue, just take it off then and call a plumber. Why keep it in if you could at least get your drain to some what work without it. Then call a plumber to scope the drain lines for $150 (that is what it costs in my area as I have had it done for tree roots).
  2. I guess I am the odd person out as I like a lot of what is done in most houses. The things I usually don’t like are the old stuff she overworks and includes with the new stuff but I usually like the new stuff, even many of the range hoods. Even though these places are flips I like that they include on trend features as shows like flip or flop just do the same basic builder stuff over and over again. It is nice to see more designed homes. I get it some people like the basic new home look but high end new homes in my city definitely have more detailed and stylized design. You can definitely tell the difference between the show homes of a standard builder which do Tarek and Christina kind of things and the custom home builders who do more stuff like on this show. I guess I take with a grain of salt the construction issues as all builders have some, it comes with the territory but they usually just handle them before they become lawsuits. IDK, I would have to research more about if the lawsuits make the news because of the show. I figure all these shows lose money or break even on the homes but make money on the show.
  3. Okay even I knew that woman didn’t eat beef as she said so one of the meals before. It all must be setup as for sure they would know that. I thought that was why fish was the first lunch. I wonder if that woman always looks pissed off or if she is playing it up for the show. Jess is way too jealous over the butt thing. The other woman had her hand over Aesha’s butt too. There was no grabbing it was just an arm low, probably she didn’t even touch Rob you just couldn’t see from that angle.
  4. She was 4 months pregnant in the surveillance video. I hadn’t known she was pregnant as I didn’t remember the case at first and when I saw that video I thought “Is she pregnant?”. The girlfriend did have a good body, she wasn’t prettier though but men often have beautiful wives and still cheat, it is about something else not how their wife looks. I liked that show didn’t portray Shanann as perfect as they showed some of what was real. There was definitely a facade there, they were going through the motions of being happy but really weren’t. I watched some other stuff on YouTube and it seems the girlfriend pursued Chris even though she knew he was married. She is no Amber Frey that is for sure.
  5. That video is interesting, 10 minutes to take a bite from two bars. It just went on and on. Protein bars generally have a lot of sweetners in them, I wouldn’t feed them to such young kids just for the potential stomach aches or diarrhea they may get. Shanann isn’t the first person I have seen focus more on their live then their family. I didn’t really follow the case back in 2018. I remember Shanann and the girls being missing and then Chris arrested. I never followed any of the SM stuff or the police videos so most of the Netflix documentary was new to me. The format was definitely interesting.
  6. It goes to show how tastes differ as I was thinking how nice Sarah’s condo is, I liked her furniture and decorative style, it was pretty modern, which is what I like. I too am annoyed by the use of the word vagina for the groin/pubic area. It makes it sound like it more genital mutilation than it is. Initially I assumed it was on the labia area due to this. I am not saying it wasn’t/isn’t traumatic but the way they talk of it is misleading, just say pubic area or something. I liked the Barbara part, she was obviously in it because she was/is in love with Keith or at least the idea of Keith.
  7. I would think Sarah must have shown her collateral to her family and admitted her wrongdoing, as she generally doesn’t seem that worried about it. If she didn’t it is what she should have done, as the truth would provide her some freedom. I don’t see why she would worry about naked pictures, much of Hollywood has that kind of stuff released and lets not forget a sex tape pretty much started the whole Kardasian thing. TVBitch mentioned Mike Rinder. I think that is a good comparison to these folks as none of them have the remorse of Mike. Despite how stoic Mike is you can see he recognizes his involvement and feels very bad about it. He admits blame and accepts responsibility in a way no one on this show does. I do give these folks credit for going public, they helped bring Nxivm down. What is missing is where they take personal responsibility for selling people into something where people spent money they may not have had. IDK, I don’t respect people who work in mlm either, regardless of where they are in the pyramid. Both Nxivm and MLMs get people to invest in crap they cannot afford and that is so unethical. You know there were sales pitches that guilted people into buying into the program. No different than the early Scientology stuff. Sure there isn’t the Sea Org and there doesn’t seem to be children involved but if it continued I would bet Nxivm would have eventually started something for kids. With how much time people spent on this Nxivm stuff they probably weren’t seeing their kids a lot and a daycare with “educational” programs designed by Keith could have been a fee grab and a way to groom kids. They all do say things like “I got them into this, I have to get them out” and I guess to me they just don’t seem believable when they say it. Mark barely admitted to running/creating The Knife.
  8. I think Nxivm thinks it is making a better world the same way all these groups do: 1) by controlling capital so they can make sure it used “morally/ethically” 2) have the “best” people so when there is an apocalypse or aliens come or the government falls, etc. They are in a position to take over and rule with the most “ethical/moral/best”. It is a self-serving good, do for others as long as I get more for me. Not much different than large corporate greed but somehow a more admirable greed. Really, how much have most religious organizations done to save the world these days? I am sure some do some good things but at least in my city no big churches are out feeding the poor or anything. If there is missionary work it is always in other countries but really that kind of work is a sales drive to spread the religion not cure malaria. Sarah gets fame out of this. She shows her brand to everyone to keep it front of mind. With her book and publicity she is the “face” of the DOS victim. Without Nxivm she was a D list actress that no one knew. ETA: most mainstream religious organizations are very wealthy. For an institution that is supposed to be for everyone and help everyone why are they as rich as the CEOs people complain about? Why are people starving when their church sits on billions that accrued from donations and investment gains? They also get to build extreme wealth tax free and no one seems to complain.
  9. I thought that too. Catherine didn’t really seem to want to see it either she kind of begrudgingly said okay. Nippy seemed to have a “good god not this again” look, like Sarah is constantly doing this and he is embarrassed already.
  10. I am sure Lauren must regret asking Sarah to join DOS as she seems like shit person so she probably doesn’t regret getting involved in DOS. They did it to recruit, as Sarah was a great salesperson but it seems like DOS was going along fine for a while then comes Sarah. From the timing info it seems Sarah was out of Nxivm within a couple months of the branding or maybe even sooner, which is a big thing to do when you run the Vancouver centre. It seems Nxivm fell really fast once it fell while things like Scientology still are going. I guess Scientology has more money/power behind it.
  11. From my understanding they know your income because you disclose it when you fill in your parishioner paperwork and I have heard some churches take a copy of your tax return. My area has a lot of very large churches. I am sure small community churches don’t do the full 10% tithing but lots of churches in my area are consolidating and moving towards being huge business type churches, where they provide you classes, have sport’s teams, etc. I live in the prairies in Canada and as an accountant I see what people donate and for the pretty devotedly religious it is a lot. If you have seen the Righteous Gemstones show more churches in my area are going that way as the small churches close their doors.
  12. I can see how the group was alluring. The initial stuff is a lot of common self-help stuff, emotional intelligence stuff (look at how many people got into “the Secret”). The cost is extreme though like Scientology (or church really as most Churches in my area “require” you to tithe and give 10% of your income). In addition to the self- help stuff you had a group of like minded people you hung out with, went to events, etc. Really, just a different type of church where you talked about self-discovery instead of Jesus (or whatever stuff churches discuss). Adults who don’t do things like have a sport’s team they are on, etc. may be drawn to this type of group just to have a close friend circle. In episode 3 it got really weird with the branding stuff. It will be interesting to see how that is fleshed out more as it just seems so strange. Even in the end part with Sarah and the street confrontation and sex trafficking stuff at this point we didn’t see that only some odd ritual. It is really neat to hear real recorded calls not re-enactments. When Sarah was getting the brand the whole time I was thinking, “your husband is going to see that right away, how will this be a secret???”
  13. Can’t people keep both last names and not joint them? I don’t see the issue. The person’s full name could include both names. If their id says both names then that is their name.
  14. I also don’t get why Julie doesn’t wear one. She is more a risk to them than they are to her as who knows who she sees or what she does when off air. I don’t know why they didn’t get them better fitting masks, they could have branded them with big brother. The fact that some of the masks fit poorly and people touch their faces/masks a lot will lead more of the public to think masks are useless. I wasn’t really a fan of Nicole so it doesn’t bother me she left, someone has to leave.
  15. I thought Darcey and Stacey did have some type of clothing company on earlier 90D shows? What does one do all day when you have nothing really to do? I guess look on the internet for younger men. I am not sure this show won’t get boring in short order. However, it is helping me tell them apart, which I never figured out on 90D.
  16. I watched and am one year older than them so grew up in the same era and I would say I guess it is their fairly plain look. They also said they were shy. IDK, they looked fine but average, and I guess the identical twin thing came into play. People probably didn’t notice when they entered a room and that is why they now do so much to make sure everyone notices them even if it is far too much. ETA I see they graduated in 1992 so we were the same school year as that is when I graduated.
  17. Okay I admit I wasn’t as grossed out by some of the breast milk episode as others were. I nursed my own kid and tasted my milk and it is sweeter. I don’t think it is wrong to use mommy’s milk for cereal, etc. but probably not worth the effort. All the pumping and not having a small baby having a hormonal reaction with the mom changes the milk. Even cows we milk are impregnated to keep up the supply/quality of the milk as they are being pumped. IDK, the family was probably just getting a sweeter milk but not any added benefits other than that and the pumping was messing with their lives. The guy drinking it - He had kids and/or a girlfriend/wife with kids and worked a lot and spent the rest of his time focused on breast milk and working out? It seemed like the biggest issue was his obsession with this was all consuming. I don’t see how milk from someone with an older kid gives him anything. Maybe if he got milk from a mom with a month old. Which leads me to that mom who has colostrum (sp? or even the right word?) gold milk in bags but she seemed to have older kids? How old is that then? It is such early milk. Or maybe I am mixing the moms up. Anyway, it is good the doctor talked about what is the milk nutritionally. Okay in fasting. I IF in the 16/8or 18/6 style and have for years before it was a fad. It works for me for appetite and I find working out fasted I have much better performance but I haven’t done multiple day fasts, not really interested in that. I don’t think it will cure cancer but outside of those long fasts over a week I don’t see an issue. Intuitive eating is a loaded expression for me as many people who practice it are overweight. Many people cannot figure out real hunger cues from things like boredom and just enjoying the food but not being hungry. I personally don’t think it works unless people naturally can do it and those that naturally can will already be in a healthy weight because they naturally only eat until full and when hungry.
  18. I have been watching this. On the third episode but skipped some of #2 as it was boring to me. The first episode was interesting, some oils serve a purpose like calming you or are antibacterial topically but the curing cancer stuff was OTT. It was interesting it went into the mlm issue, as sure some tea tree oil can really work in lice but you can buy it at the drugstore cheap, not spend $60. The breast milk is interesting. Not sure there is much/any benefit for adults but there is for babies. To those moms who can mass pump there should be a better way they could be financially supported for all the milk they donate. Even if they didn’t make money, some way to pay for the supplies and extra food you need to be able to pump long-term. As I have nursed my own kid, I recognized that over the term I did it the milk changed. It was interesting to see the milk bank talk about that, as I wondered how BM from a mom with a 2 year old would have enough fat content for a premie baby but I see that they considered that and tested for nutritional content.
  19. I felt bad for the other member of the father, daughters team as really he would be out-voted for probably everything. On the flipside the team probably got more air time then it would have otherwise due to the father, daughters situation. Some of the stories were so inspiring. I am impressed that people can continue to push themselves to such limits on barely any sleep. To do this race at 68 is so remarkable, to do it with Alzheimer’s is amazing. I am so impressed by those teams and the son supporting his dad Mark.
  20. I think the fact that Betty is alive and didn’t commit murder/suicide this case will always saint Dan and demonize Betty more than is the real story. In the last 6 months, someone in my industry committed murder/suicide and due to the fact the murderer is deceased there is a lot of empathy for the struggle the murderer must have had and that most definitely wouldn’t have been the case if the suicide didn’t occur. I liked the series as Dan wasn’t portrayed as a saint and many of the podcasts I have listened to really don’t explore how Dan was. I should read that book mentioned as it seems more balanced than the podcasts. I feel bad for the children involved, growing up in such a toxic environment.
  21. I have been watching this show over the weekend. They do a nice job of having the three different departments so it isn’t all terminal illness. During the show you sometimes think that some of the very terminal people have a real long-term chance but then you realize that they are spending their lives in chronic substantial and invasive medical care. It was heart breaking how many times they had to break Chris’ wife’s heart. I hope she is getting some therapy, caregiver to a spouse with a terminal illness, going to appointments, getting your hopes up while living so much of your life at hospitals is so tough. I felt really bad for her in some of the scenes where she had to manage Chris’ behaviour, I have been that spouse, apologizing for your spouse’s behaviour on steroids and just wishing the hospital the staff would take over the responsibility and you could get a break. Now my husband is much better as he had an organ transplant but there were hard years.
  22. All my podcasts are true crime and scams. For me, I am interested in the psyche of those that do these types of crimes. I am not sure if I am more interested in crimes against women but for sure am more interested in crimes and scams relating to relationships (I.e. people who scam money from friends, crimes that involved people who know each other) and maybe as the other poster mentioned it is a way to protect myself. This show for example, I really am most interested in what lead Michelle to manage her life with drugs. We all have busy lives but we don’t all take drugs to sleep, to get up, etc. Also I knew Patton knew about the drugs and some people say supplied them so I wanted to see what lead to that. For me, that is because I have my own anxiety and I work really hard to not mismanage it and I don’t even drink alcohol as it would be far to easy for me self-medicate. It is interesting to me to see people normalize self-medicating. It was interesting the conversation about having another kid. IDK, my husband and I don’t really talk to each other in the same style and certainly wouldn’t have a conversation about having a baby over text.
  23. We tend to buy in bulk in North America and also refrigerate many more things than really necessary. I know people who refrigerate things like peanut butter. It doesn’t really surprise me that in other places it wouldn’t be common to have a fridge.
  24. When I turned this on, Netflix played season 2 first and I didn’t realize. So after it finished it went to season 1. Well, I was surprised as everyone looked more normal in season 1 and so much less overdone and plastic. The one dating Tarek looks so much like Christina, I guess he has a type. This show is more about the yards of the houses then the houses. Many of the homes had yards that were more impressive than the inside. Lots of the houses seemed to have regular size bedrooms and kitchens. There were some awesome pools though.
  25. I don’t know if I want them to get away with it but it has only been a few days so I don’t feel she abandoned her kids really. I actually understood the whole speech, it made a lot of sense to me really, especially if Ruby doesn’t have a career herself. You can love your family but still want your own identity. I thought at the end of the trip they decide if they stay together and if they do I would think Ruby gets divorced and shares custody. If they don’t stay together I figure her spouse divorces her anyway and they share custody.
