Media, Ratings, and More: The Blogs Continue To Be Crazy!
marina to replied to trow125's topic in The Daily Show
Does anyone know what has happened to the show in Canada? It's no longer on the Comedy Network/CTV. -
What free time? If she is responsible for dinner, laundry and getting children to bed, or even driving kids around to extra curricular activities, there may not be the time to counteract the messages they are getting that their history is not worth mentioning and that they are less than the white kids. She mentioned how it was making the environment uncomfortable for the child and you are branding her a fanatic for wanting to shield her child from in-your-face racism?

Can't speak to Scrofano but Navia is a musical theatre vet and may be more unhappy she didn't get to sing more.
-
She was speaking slower?

Yes, it started with the televangelist bit and has just carried over.

I know this was a long time ago, trying to make sense of why he wasn't being used, but I know said actor and for years he's made a living touring one-man shows across the country. He's adapted to the little vision he has, so a lot of filming would not have been the issue. Just want it on the record. 😉

S02.E03: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
marina to replied to starri's topic in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Looking at the view, it seemed like it was one of the condos closer to Harbourfront. Westin Harbour Castle seems like a pretty good guess, or one of the newer buildings on the other side of Queens Quay. -

Guilty as charged. -
I have known the actor who plays Hemmer for a long time, and it's my bad it took me this long to watch the show. I was thrilled when he was announced because he's every bit as open and dignified as the character he played. So it was a shame I had to fast forward through much of this episode because I don't watch horror. (I value my sleep. Could have done without this horror turn in the show.) And like so many have said here, I wish he hadn't been killed off so soon. I would have loved for him to show off more of what he does.

Who knew Ontario Place could look so apocalyptic?

Couldn't agree more. It's lazy writing.

S03.E07: A Mathematically Perfect Redemption
marina to replied to tessaray's topic in Star Trek: Lower Decks
I love that this episode looked like it was setting up a classic redemption story, only to take a hard right turn and say, "Gotcha!". I didn't mind the break from the Cerritos crew. I liked seeing something different. I had fun. -
I didn't think that was Carter when I saw it. Facial shape is all wrong. I will give you Carter's colour and hairstyle though. BTW, great new piece at The Companion, @Idiotboy. https://www.thecompanion.app/stargate-character-death/

Trevor Noah: The Man Himself
marina to replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
He does seem to like to produce. Isn't this like the 4th show he's executive producer of? Anyway, Mock the Week is fun so I hope it translates. -
TDS 3.0: Season Seven Talk

I was really looking forward to Dulce's week and last night didn't disappoint. I thought she did a great job of keeping her personality without it being the constant over the top-ness of her segments, which would be tiring. Interesting approach to the Headlines segment as well. -

One thing that impressed me is that Roy actually has a journalism degree. That explains why he's so good at this! -

Really loved Roy's week. Also appreciated Jordan's week, especially Thursday's show. Interviewing a philosopher and talking about the messages young boys are getting? gold. -
Well, look who is taking a look at the British Monarchy's role in slavery. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/06/king-charles-signals-first-explicit-support-for-research-into-monarchys-slavery-ties

Queen Charlotte In The Media
marina to replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
I certainly hope so! They just posted an intro vid on Instagram that says "Agatha Danbury" so that would imply she's already married. -
Back in the TWoP days, we would post pics and for a while, doing motivational posters were a thing. When photobucket went weird, I thought I'd lost all the ones I did. Lo and behold, I found I had downloaded an archive! So thought I'd share a few for fun.

Murdoch Mysteries - General Discussion
marina to replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Murdoch Mysteries
I'm finally caught up! Season 16, Episode 13 - Vengeance Makes the Man I went in fully expecting to hate this one and was surprised that I actually enjoyed it. Really loved the scene where Murdoch visits Brackenreid in jail. Violet Hart saving Brackenreid really tied her arc together. He's always supported her so it made sense that she'd finally risk her own life for him. We didn't have to watch her dad being an ass manipulating everyone so I could just enjoy the confrontation he has with Brackenreid. I thought both were great in that scene. Poor Arthur finally gets justice and Miss Hart finally gets redemption. I hope the creative team realizes how much the whole shady side of her was detrimental to the show and that from here on out we get our fun show back. Although consider how this show loves bringing bad guys back for the angst, I'm afraid we're going to get more at some point. Just hope it's a long time away. Season 16, Episode 14 - Murdoch at the End of the World I love Pendrick episodes and while watching this one I think it's in part because he's such a man of science that the episodes by necessity need to focus on scientific scenarios rather than putting our main cast through angst. Plus, Pendrick is so nice to look at, and that voice! Love Chris Hatfield's scene and the way the plotline hearkened to so many of the issues we're currently dealing with. The final shot, with Julia and William showing Susanna Halley's comet and commenting on how different the world will be the next time it comes around - and that she will still be here to see it. My roommate remarked that here was an episode where both Crabtree is there and Higgins was shown to be competent. I figure it's because the storyline was so high risk that making Higgins comedically incompetent wouldn't fit into the tone. Season 16 Episode 15 - Breaking Ranks What's this? Two basic mystery stories with no angst in a row? OMG! Didn't even recognize Jonathan Goad. I remember when he and Mike Shara were young actors. This made me feel so old. Great plot, nice to see Murdoch and Hart working together. Really enjoyed seeing Isiah again and like that they're setting him up with Violet. Great to see Cassie getting her club back too. A well done mystery, with those fun IQ test scenes. Very old school Murdoch. More of these, please! -
Solo Poly here. Wouldn't it be great to see this? Then maybe we won't keep hearing jokes like this: Polygyny is not polyamory and I'm so tired of it being equated. Their practices are not ethical. John, how about getting on this?

Which was my main point. Yes, everyone else involved should be paid better wages but it's not the players' salary preventing that. It's the owners' decisions that are creating this situation.
