  1. OMG I'm still laughing at Owen's comparison to the Peanuts gang. "And the stupid kid playing the piano ...." Ha ha hahahaha. I love Owen.
  2. I really enjoyed this episode! Noelle is a bad ass competitor, but I'm not that sad she was voted out. (As someone else said, she will be/should be #1 on the list for the next all star season.) Karla is my favorite, so as long as she stays I don't much care who gets voted out. Sami, who just last episode didn't want to make a move without Karla's input, surprised me by writing her name down tonight. Hopefully he will get a talking head next week that explains his reasoning. I totally understand the emotions that come out when reading the family and friend letters. A few years ago I went out of town and was away from my family and pets for the first time ever. To pass the time in the evenings, I read a true crime book that detailed a murder from the early 1900s. The man who committed the murder formed an intense bond with a stray dog while he was in the local jail. When the man was transferred to his final prison before being executed, he had to of course leave the dog behind (he got the promise of his jailers to take care of the dog). I cried like a baby for that long gone dog and because the thought of him and his dog being separated made me miss my cats so much. I had only been away for two days at that point, but the emotion was so very strong. Being separated from those you love is stressful! Me, too! I also like Jesse but am still on the fence about Cody.
  3. That reminded me of an early season with Bryan (I think? The douchey used car dealer who, if memory serves, was the first to use the goat strategy with an ever bigger douche than he was). He pissed all over the cave they were living in and no one ever stood up to him for it. Thankfully Cody doesn't seem anything like that guy! I remember her intense hate-on for Parvati (someone I didn't care for one way or the other) drove me away from reading the recaps. It was that disturbing.
  4. I'm one of the few that liked James, but a good blindside by other people I like is very satisfying. The faces of the others coming in to tribal and seeing that James was voted out was hilarious. So glad that Karla won immunity and has strong bonds outside of James. Do they not do separate reward and immunity challenges anymore? Other than a couple of the final episodes last season, this is the first season in years that I've watched Survivor.
  5. If these people were smart, Cody would go. He's the biggest challenge threat.
  6. I like James, but that was not cool to tell Owen was protected. Glad Cassidy stepped forward before Owen felt obligated to do so.
  7. As a loner and fellow outsider, Owen is pulling at my heartstrings!
  8. We have Spectrum Internet and TV Choice with local channels for just over $110 a month. No boxes or DVR anymore which my husband misses, but those boxes cost a lot. If we'd ditched cable altogether the price for internet alone would have been over $100, so we went with TV Choice. It comes with your pick of 10 or 15 channels in the mid tier, and while I do miss Smithsonian and Science Channel it didn't justify paying the $220 a month our bill had shot up to. I've thought about calling to see if we could get rid of the local channels ($21 per month) as well, but we'd probably need to get an antenna on the house to get the best, most reliable over the air signal. Anyway, in addition to saving a nice chunk of money, the change has forced me out of my comfort zone and into some free streaming services (tubi and freevee) and a couple of inexpensive paid services (Peacock, Frndly). We already subscribed to Acorn and Britbox. Hope this helps @SunnyBeBe!
  9. Yes, there are lots of people I'd love to see. There are also certain contestants who are so repulsive that I'd skip watching (Orange Josh, Helen of the Capes, Ivy).
  10. Too bad about Dwight. I wish it had been that fucking gasbag Gabler but of course he had to win immunity. Hopefully it will be his turn next week. I'm really glad it wasn't James, though! He and Karla are my favorites.
  11. Your neighbor is a dick. I'd be putting that smelly air freshener in the trash. Our one sunny window is also plant-less for cat related reasons. However, I keep some succulents (as well as a Kleim's hardy gardenia, an African violet and other assorted houseplants) under a regular lamp with a daytime bulb and they do fine. Even a florescent light will work. I used to keep a large hibiscus in the basement during the winter and it bloomed happily under a cheap florescent shop light. Right now I'm on the lookout for a fish tank with a light hood to house two small begonias that the cats have decided to munch on.
  12. I hear that. Years ago we had a Super Kmart up the street that was so convenient for basic groceries, but they stocked coffee filters way back in the coffee pots/small appliance aisle instead of in the grocery aisle by the coffee. Actually I get having some stock by the coffee pots, because if someone is buying a new maker the filters aren't going to be included. But why not have filters by the coffee, too? It made no sense at all. Probably another piss poor decision by Eddie Lampert.
  13. I'm just loving Karla and James. Ryan has to be wondering how badly he screwed up by throwing the challenge.
  14. I do miss her and Ali Velshi together, and him particularly. His show is on too early on the weekends for me, so unless he's doing hurricane coverage or filling in for someone I don't see him any more.
  15. I don't watch a lot of Food Network, but do enjoy the holiday baking shows. The Halloween Baking Championship in particular has been a nice way to spend an evening. The creativity of the contestants, the host (don't remember his name, but he's funny), and the judges who are always kind are just what I need when my usual tv fare (old mysteries, true crime or news) just isn't going to do it. As an aside, I'll never understand the appeal of Guy Fieri. The commercials with him yelling about one thing or another are obnoxious enough, but a whole hour of that? No fucking way.
  16. I've criticized Stephanie Ruhle in the past for interrupting her guests, but have a real appreciation for her sense of humor. I started following her on Twitter awhile back and she's a class act with her critics. Someone recently posted that she looked like she just rolled out of bed, smoked a pack of Marlboroughs and drank a pot of coffee before sitting in the anchor's chair, and her reply was, And? I'm still chuckling.
  17. Another Karla fan here, as well as James. The look that passed between them when James was trying to talk Lindsay off the ledge was hilarious. I knew at that point that Lindsay had talked herself into getting the boot. Cody's veiled threat to Noelle that she better not let them down (or however he worded it) after coming back from tribal was pretty shitty. I'm not sure if I like him or not.
  18. Usually it's on COZI very early in the morning (too early for me; I watch late night on HMM when they're not airing Christmas movies for months at a time), but for the next few days COZI is running morning through afternoon marathons. I'm hoping Peacock has the original episode cuts because HMM and COZI have both made edits.
  19. It's taken me a day to come to terms with the death of Angela Lansbury. I was a young teen when Murder, She Wrote premiered and I watched it then and have watched the reruns faithfully from 1999 clear through today. It is, as someone else upthread mentioned, my jam. She could never know the comfort she (and by extension the cast of MSW) have given me through the years. It really sucks that she's gone. She sang this song in an episode of MSW as Emma, Jessica Fletcher's British cousin! It's been so interesting watching all the tributes because I'm learning more about her and her career and how she called back to other parts of her life in entertainment as the character of Jessica. I've been watching reruns today on Cozi TV with sadness but also a new appreciation for this remarkable woman.
  20. So I haven't watched Survivor in a long while and am having trouble keeping these people straight. CBS.com still has last year's contestants up as the cast. I wonder what's up with that?
  21. I wonder about people like him, the Duggars, etc. Is there some psychological explanation for people who want a litter of children?
  22. Ditto. I started losing interest after they broke up Sally and Adam and had her turn into a Newman fangirl, but the spoilers about her and Nick were the final straw. When a show only makes you bored and angry, it's time to take a break. I'm still stopping in here to read the brilliant posts of y'all, though. And thanks to @boes I'll always picture Nick with his thinking face on, mind singing The Candy Man or Dry Bones LOL!
