The Mets have seen the last of the Phillies in the regular season. Right now, the Phillies have the last wild card spot in the NL, so they could meet up in the post season.
-
And lost 4 of 5 to the Mets a week ago. 9 games against their main rival, a chance to make a real move in the division, and they lose half a game in the standings.

Das Boot was one of the few times I thought the movie lived up to the book, both were outstanding. In the Line of Fire is one of those movies I'll stop and watch anytime I come across it. -
If they could do that all the time, I'd be fine... 😉

Relax, we had a couple of starters go down early with injuries, but we still have a 3 1/2 game lead and Scherzer and deGrom going the next two days…

He actually isn't a fan of the gentle leader, so he was rubbing his nose on the ground trying to get it off. It does make a huge difference when we're walking him, though.

We had a group class/walk for Jake on Saturday morning. It's been ages since we've gone, between hot weather and such - the trainer we used when we got him holds these every few weeks so the dogs can work on socialization, and we can work on specific things they need.

A few years back I was reading his biography on the Wright Brothers while on an airplane, wondering what they would think about how far aviation had come from their humble start in Kitty Hawk. -
Yes, the rumor is there will be a hologram of Harry Caray during the 7th inning stretch. Caray was a long-time baseball announcer, spending over 50 years with a number of teams, including 15 years with the Cubs before his death in 1997. He was best know for leading the stadium crowd in a rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch.

I was moderately interested in it last year, until I realized it wasn't being played on the actual "Field of Dreams" but rather on some new ballpark built nearby. I guess they built it, and they came, but still...

A bad day at the ballpark is better than a good day at work!

I've always loved this passage from Bart Giamatti:
-
They deliberately structured his contract to pay him a minimum amount this season so any suspension would have a limited effect on his salary.

I see them so often, it makes me I wonder if they aren't being used as some sort of drug paraphernalia that I don't understand... -
What if it were Kit Hanks?

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality

GF and I will do that sometimes, depending on how the tables are set up. If it's a noisy restaurant, it's easier to hear one another, and it can allow us both to be closer to the wall and away from the path of passing servers and customers. -
He looked particularly graceful striking out three times against Max Scherzer the other night... 😉

I haven’t heard anything. Kurt Busch is going to miss today’s race in the other 23XI car, he’s suffering concussion symptoms after wrecking during qualifying yesterday. Ty Gibbs will run the 45 car today.

I'm at Pocono this weekend for the NASCAR races. In today's Xfinity race, there was a big wreck on the front stretch, right in front of me. Several cars got together, and the car of Jeb Burton overturned and slid on its roof for several hundred feet. It came to a stop upside down. After rescue crews confirmed he was uninjured, they slowly righted the car and he climbed out.

Will you do it for free? Because I think part of the problem with these sorts of things is they cut costs and don't have enough staff to look at all of this stuff. I've seen the same thing on the newspaper side in the past.

Bud Selig was just clueless, Manfred is downright evil.

A little late to the party, we're just catching up on the latest season... But none of those other reviewers were members of the congregation. That is why the Rabbi kept coming back to 'loyalty' and 'taking care of your own'. I suspect a lot of them thought it wasn't a very good show, either in the Catskills or on Broadway, but to have one of their own members pan it so harshly was seen as a betrayal.

That stadium in the Meadowlands will always be Giants Stadium to me...
