  1. Don't get me started on the Jimmy Dean commercials. There's one where he says "I can't tell you how good these are..." I always yell at the TV: "Of course you can't, you're dead!"
  2. I don't understand why Applebees is getting grief over the commercial placement - I don't think they told CNN to run it side-by-side with war coverage...

Ties? There’s no tying in baseball!
  4. Yes, I signed up with ZipRecruiter a while back when looking for work, and the emails/texts came from "Phil". I laugh when I see those commercials - for all the job postings they sent me, half weren't close to being what I was looking for, and on those I did apply to, I never got a single response.
  5. If that is what they are basing their post on, NBC will have a lot of holes to fill... We just finished watching the full set of episodes - it had been sitting on the DVR, and we finally had a time to watch. We enjoyed it - a different concept, interesting stories, and some twists and turns along the way. If it does come back next season, we'll be back.
  6. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
  7. I don't know, dating the mother of one of your students sounds like it's crossing a line...
  8. How about a two-time Super Bowl MVP?
  9. Why? From what I saw in the clip, he didn't cause her to fall. Yes, it looks bad that he turned away, but I don't see how that makes him responsible for any medical bills she might encounter.
  10. No, you have to pay for Hulu, but they do offer a free trial. Maybe wait until they drop all the remaining episodes, sign up for the free trial, watch them, then cancel. https://help.hulu.com/s/article/how-much-does-hulu-cost

I'll have to see if I end up subscribing to MLB TV this season - whenever it starts. Last year, they had an offer for a single team for $99 for the year, discounted to $50 the first week of the season. Then I found they offered an additional discount for military/veterans/etc. so I ended up getting it for $35~. I figured for a season of the Mets, that wasn't a bad price. I usually watched two or three games a week, but down here in Charlotte I was in the "home" region for the Braves, Nationals, Orioles, and the Reds, so I couldn't see a bunch of Met games because of MLB's ridiculous blackout rules.
  12. That was an SNL spoof commercial, the Royal Deluxe II
  13. The XFL, of which Rock is an owner, starts play in early 2023. The USFL, of which Rock is not involved, starts play this spring. I know, it's hard to keep all these retread league names straight.
  14. I think I would like the Bengals to win, but I think the Rams will. I wouldn't mind seeing OBJ get a SB win.

Fun fact - the very first Met game I went to was Old Timers’s Day in 1969.
  16. They hate that they can't extort enough money for a fancy new stadium just a few years after the city paid for their old fancy stadium.
  17. LinkedIn is what you make of it. I rarely look at the news feed, so I don’t see some of those ridiculous posts. I use it to connect with people, check out companies, and look at job listings. Two years ago, while out of work, I landed a contract position because a recruiter saw my LI profile and contacted me. Last September as my contract was getting short, I saw a job post on LI and applied. After a few rounds of interviews, they made an offer which I accepted. Started in December, mid-level analytics manager role, good company, great benefits, comp right in the range I was looking for, and fully remote. I never would have gotten that job if I hadn’t seen it on LI During that time, I had interviews for half a dozen other positions I saw on LI. Like anything, it is a tool to use for your benefit.
  18. Or more aptly, the Duhs...
  19. TB12? They do have a connection from their days with the Pats.
  20. After letting this collect dust on the DVR for a few months 😉 we watched the first episode last night. Interesting concept, and enjoyable show. It will probably take us a few episodes to keep everyone straight in each timeline, but we'll stick around for a while. Especially if they keep playing Billy Joel...
