Absolutely lovely! Winston Graham wrote a book called Poldark's Cornwall. It had color photographs of Cornwall. And it gave some insider stuff like how Graham completely made up the name Poldark, Demelza is the name of a town, etc. Yeah, it's a shame they never continued the series because Graham was still writing the books until the late 80s, early 90s. Hmmm....not mentioning the original series is pretty low, imo.

This is on my To Watch List because I'm a fan of the books and a fan of the 1970's Poldark series starring Robin Ellis (who I think is hot.) From what I've read, this series is more faithful to the books, so that's another plus.

Quoth JJ: "Ah that's a topic for another show!"

wouldn't it be something if they're spotted sitting next to Googly Eyes and Beach Tan in the gallery?

I thought stray cars follow you home and stay only if you change their oil, fill their tanks up with gas and wash and wax them?

It sounds like the characters are always screaming or they're talking really, really, fast. BTW, great Sesame Street parody is SNL's Cookie from Empire goes to Sesame Street.

I've watched some of the newer PBS Kids shows and the only ones I can stand are Word Girl and Biz Kids. I don't count Arthur, Clifford and Martha Speaks as "new". I really liked Jakers with the pig. I think it's on Qubo now.

Subdued? That's like calling a run away train 'subdued'. I mean, she was so subdued it was like she wasn't there at all.

I miss Mary, but I like Paula better here than I did when she was on American Idol.

The one question I constantly ask myself is was Irene all that?

Yup, I remember them and I also remember something called Color Sounds which used music videos to teach parts of speech. Since my parents refused to get cable, it was really the only time I was able to watch music videos. The 90s was good for kids programs. Wishbone, Kratt's Creatures (I had such a crush on the Kratts!), and Donna's Day, which was like a Martha Stewart Living show for kids were my favs. Yeah I was one of those college students who watched kids shows on PBS! In the late 90s, I remember my little nieces and nephew watching Zoom, which was pretty good.

Northanger Abbey (2007) - General Discussion

Rewatched this weekend. It was a satisfying program, following JA's novel pretty closely. Some minor changes but nothing too distracting. -
Bill Alexander!!!! I remember watching that show. Bob Ross studied under Alexander, iirc. PBS was great in the 80s wasn't it? Justin Wilson and Martin Yan were hilarious. I loved how Jooostan would start sprinkling in hot pepper flakes or hot sauce and the audience would go "wooooooo!". And Martin Yan's show had a live audience too. I remember when he was tossing dough and accidentally tossed it into the audience, hitting a woman.

Heh....I probably have wax build up in my ears because I swore I heard a case announced as "Fool versus Gretchen".....

I remember the huge dice too!

Well, there it is. Now we know why women fight over, give hundreds of dollars to, and lavish expensive gifts to POS litigants who look like they just crawled out of the primordial soup: these POS's clean up well and are well-endowed.

After I rewatch NA 2007 (I wasn't able to do that over the weekend), I'll rewatch Persuasion 2007 (for RPJ and Anthony Stewart Head). -

According to wiki, they filmed NA 2007 in Ireland. Dublin was Bath. Lismore Castle was Northhanger Abbey. Very pretty. -
Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”

Someone pointed this out to me years ago, but in Green Acres, Oliver is more "sane" than the rest of the valley. But if you watch Petticoat Junction when he and Lisa are on it, he is the one who is wacky. There was a bit of social commentary in Green Acres disguised as humor. I don't want to offend anyone but Arnold is the Ziffel's adopted child of another ethnicity/race. I guess in the 60s this was the closest you could get to a tv family adopting a child from a different ethnicity/race. He's akin to Willis and Arnold in Diff'rent Strokes or Lily in Modern Family. This is especially apparent in the episode, Arnold Ziffel, Boy Hero, when Fred brings Arnold to the bank to open a savings account. The banker says that Fred can't open an account for a pig. Arnold starts squealing. Then Fred says something like don't get upset the world is full of prejudice. Then there's Ralph Monroe: she self-identifies as a woman, but the people in the valley treat her like a man due to her name, her clothing and occupation. -
Wow. I never knew of the Press Your Luck gossip. What I am noticing is that people "dressed up" (business attire as opposed to shorts, t shirts, ) for game shows in the '50s.

Pre-empted for soccer, here........

There were also allegations that the renters complained about the snakes to the owner/daughter. And local tv news mentioned that the current owners could hear noises coming from inside the walls and the house has an odor. From this link:http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/ReptilesAmphibians/Facts/FactSheets/Blackratsnake.cfm, the rat snake does produce a foul-smelling odor that it spreads around. Anyhoo, snakes = squatters and in Maryland, there are no squatter rights, lol. I could picture JJ yelling at those snakes "You're a bunch of squatters! They were right to have you evicted! And now you have the nerve to sue them for wrongful eviction?! That takes some chutzpah! Your claim is dismissed!"
-
I think part of it is what they paid for the house and part of it is for pain and suffering. The family claimed on local tv news that inhaling snake poop/dust made them ill.

Yes, the Bath Marathon.......where Anne ran through the streets of Bath running into various characters who summed up all the loose ends for her: "Girl, did you hear Mrs. Clay just shacked up with your cousin, Mr. Elliot! Call me when you get home!" run, run, run, "Heya! Tell Capt. W. thanks for the loan. Now I can move outta this dump! I'll send you an e" run, run, run "Yo! Dad and I are going home tonight!" run run run. IIRC, that girl wasn't out of breath, sweating (pardon me, perspiring) or even had a hair out of place when she got to the finish line. Let's not forget the Bath Marathon ended with Anne giving Wentworth the infamous Guppy Mouth Kiss. (It was the ill-informed who thought the MT thread on TWoP was too snobbish and stuffy to be snarky.) And the final scene where the carriage rolls up the driveway and parks in front of Kellynch looked badly green-screened. The Tilney-Catherine kiss rates a 10 out 10 on the cuteness scale. Persuasion had the Bath Marathon. NA 2007 had nekkid Isabella waking up in Capt.Tilney's bed. -
I vaguely remember Child's Play, but I didn't watch it regularly when it was on tv. I also remember Blockbuster too, but didn't regularly watch it. However, I do not remember Press Your Luck or Body Language at all. I would love it if they got Hollywood Squares, Love Connection, $10,000 Pyramid and Name That Tune
