  1. As Chris would say, HA! I'm listening to the audiobook version of his Bobby Kennedy book now. The guy has a real understanding of history, and boy, can he tell a story. Note to Joe: I will never pay money to listen to your soothing tones.
  2. I think their original plan to age up teen Ivy into 28 year old femme fatale bombshell ivy was derailed by the audience pointing out that it didn't matter what she looked like, she was a still 14/15 year old girl. I suspect they're going to try the same thing again, hoping that by recasting and spouting some plant mumbo jumbo, we'll forget. It's not going to work. I like Peyton List, but that's not going to change the fact that Ivy's still at least a year younger than Selina.
  3. Jane Wyatt's hair was naturally dark, which has nothing to do with what Amanda was doing with hers. I guess only her Vulcan hairdresser knows for sure.
  4. Mika is wearing white like the suffragettes to show solidarity with feminists and promote her book. However, she's nothing but an opportunist. She'll side with feminism to make a buck, party with an accused serial sexual abuser because he has power, accuse Hillary of everything under the sun to prove she's one of the "cool kids", and then weep about how everyone is innocent until proven guilty when it's her own slimeball friend in the hotseat. This woman says thanks but no thanks.
  5. Another woman has come forward about Halperin, so we're up to six now. I could never stand that slimy bastard, but I never suspected this. And yeah, Mika was so bound and determined to find a way to blame Hillary for Weinstein, she ought to answer some questions about what she knew about Halperin since he sat his ass on the same panel as her for years. Although, come to think of it, I don't recall him ever sitting right beside her. He was always placed on the other side of Joe and Willie. Hmm, maybe they heard some rumors. Is there anything you want to tell us, Mr. and Ms Holier-Than-Thou?
  6. I think we're just going to have to fanwank around Arne Darvin. I suspect L'Rell's matriarchs have done a much better job on Ash/Voq and he's virtually undetectable (except by tribble). I also don't think he's the only spy. Somebody had to give the Klingons Lorca's flight plan, so they could intercept him.
  7. It's amazing how much more enjoyable this show is when Mika's not there (yes, even with Peggy Noonan). Halperin and Katty Kay pissed me off with their chiding of the congresswoman with the totally awesome hat for "politicizing" Rumpy's phone call to the widow. As she said, people asked her what he said and she told them. That's not politicizing, that's telling the ugly truth.
  8. This is all so awesome! I had no idea until I came into this forum and read it. I wonder what the plan is? Will he lurk around suspiciously, or strike up friendships with the crew? Will he become friends with Burnham? Star Trek, at it's best, isn't about weapons. It's about ideas, the chief of those being infinite diversity in infinite combinations. Burnham and Voq have both lost so much at the at hands of the other's species. Could they makes peace with each other, and that peace spread out and end the war? That would be very classic Star Trek.
  9. Bumping this thread in case anybody wants to talk about the Voq is Ash fan theory without spoiler warnings. I hope it's true.
  10. But that's not what this episode was about. It wasn't about Barbara's relationships with Tabitha or Selina, it was about her relationship with Ra's. If Selina had showed up it would have been basically for a cameo because there was nothing for her to do other than again be angry that she wasn't being treated as an equal.
  11. If the story isn't about them, why should they be there? It's usually a mistake when you have a large cast to try to shove everybody into every episode no matter what. Take Inhumans for example: it's cast isn't nearly as large as Gotham's, but they make sure to include every single one of those idiots all the time and it makes it even more stupid and choppy then it would be otherwise. Gotham is doing the right thing by only only including the characters it needs for each episode. Everybody gets their turn, and when they're onscreen they get more time for complex storylines instead of a few seconds of filler and make-work.
  12. Was I supposed to be upset that Max had the Genetic Council beaten and exiled? (And, by exiled I assume tossed out onto the airless surface of the moon? I mean, where else were they going to go?) Because it's kind of hard for me to get worked up about a pack of bureaucrats who condemn people to slavery if they're genetically "inferior". I don't even know what to say about the rest. Queen Hair and Cut-Rate Felicity were an unbelievably unlikable pair, and everybody else's storylines were too stupid and nonsensical to comment on. I haven't seen a show this bad since the 70s.
  13. Yeah, Ben did a fantastic job, not only with the other characters, but with his own. The producers should listen to his input more because I didn't want to punch Jim once until the end, and that's only because I'm exhausted with his love life. Alexander Siddig was a revelation as Ra's. He was everything you could ever want in the character and them some. Watching young Bruce tangling with him was both disturbing and terrifying. I felt he was in real jeopardy if not physically (because he has a destiny after all), then emotionally and psychologically. Gotham has always done a spectacular job casting and writing for their iconic Rogue's Gallery and Ra's is no exception. It does bring me back to how Arrow managed to screw up their own Ra's so badly. I've always assumed they couldn't afford someone like Siddig or Oded Fehr because they blew all their cash on BR, but that doesn't explain the writing. How could such self-proclaimed comic fanboys get it so wrong on such a well known character? It's been a couple of years, and I'm still shaking my head over it. I hope they watched this episode so they can truly grasp how badly they failed. They need to know because DC keeps giving them important characters, and they keep half-assing them. Anyway, episodes like this are the reason Gotham is my favorite comic book show. It's got it's flaws (most of them revolve around Jim Gordon and his stupidity and his awful, awful love life), but it knows who all the other characters are, and who they're suppose to be; and it can tell wild and completely unpredictable stories about them.
  14. I'm not gonna lie, Anubis, the dog-man, freaked me the hell out. I'm serious, every time he appeared I nearly jumped out of my skin. This was a wild ride of an episode. Kudos to Ben McKenzie. It was creepy, and dark, with great character beats from Bruce Wayne putting the dark in Dark Knight, to the love/hate/murder/freeze soap opera of Penguin and Ed, to Zsasz jamming to Riddler's raps and whispering "I'm going to stab you" to Sofia. I didn't find her all that interesting last episode, but she was dark and manipulative here. The only sour note was the inevitable hook up at the end. I'M OVER YOUR LOVE LIFE JIM. And then there's Alexander Siddig. His Ra's al Ghul was mad and other worldy and absolutely terrifying. There were moments when I looked in his eyes and he didn't seem quite human. I remember you as Dr. Bashir, Siddig, you're not suppose to scare me. I hope the producers of Arrow were watching him so they can hang their heads in well-deserved shame. Please write more, Ben. You get the macabre insanity of Gotham perfectly. Also, damn! Bruce is taller than Jim. I hadn't really noticed it before.
  15. I can't stomach Mika's hypocrisy, so I switched over to Looney Toons for 30 minutes then came for back for more nuclear war.
  16. Maybe they're going to turn him into those TOS Klingons that look like humans.
  17. I wonder if somewhere during Mika's rampage against Weinstein (who's a pig), if she remembered he 10 women who accused Donald Trump of sexual harassment; and how, after that she still sucked up to him and went to Mar-a-Lago for a New Year's party. She is such a hypocrite. Everybody else has to prostrate themselves in shame, while she and Boyfriend are holy and righteous and can't possible be held accountable for anything.
  18. Well, the royal family still sucks, but I've gained respect for Hawaii's criminal population. Everybody made friends with criminals except Queen Hair who kidnapped Cut-Rate Felicity. I wonder what the guy who hit Lockjaw is up to? Diamond smuggling? Eco-terrorism? Loki/Ramsey (Loksey?) is still clearly evil, but he's the only one who's not a racist dick, so I guess I'm on his side, as much as I'm on anybody's side. No, I take that back; I think I'll side with the Hawaiian criminals. They're neither evil or racists. Go criminals!
  19. Man, Mika just can't contain her rage that Hillary Clinton is still breathing, can she? Hillary criticized Trump's response to Puerto Rico, and Mika went off on her demanding she do more like take her book tour there. Because that's just what people without running water and electricity need. Nobody kissed Trump's ass more before the election than Mika and Boyfriend. Nobody gave him more free airtime. And, when it was all over and they were shocked and horrified, they still traipsed down to Mar-A-Lago for a New Year's eve party. What a hypocrite.
  20. Hee! I was just thinking the same thing on both counts! Overkill has to be the surviving member of Flag Five. It's the only thing that makes sense. I'm going to go back and rewatch the pilot and see if I cant get a better look at him.
  21. I have been following this thread and what I've picked up is a call to change the structure of the show after 26 classic and 10 NuWho series right after the Doctor changes gender. Switching genders is minor compared to getting rid of the companions. Apart from some specials and the classic serial, The Deadly Assassin, companions have always been there. I'd don't mean what happened off screen, or a book, or Big Finish; the show itself has always had companions. There has always been 3 constants in Doctor Who: the Doctor, the TARDIS, and the companions. Why does that need to change? Why does it need to change now? How does it impact the story if it's only the Doctor interacting with strangers? Why can't the 13th Doctor have the same things her predecessors had? If it's a question of how tragically companions end in NuWho, that's on the last 2 showrunners. The long history of DW doesn't support that. What it comes down to is I don't want to see the Doctor roaming around in an empty TARDIS because the message to me will be that no one is willing to follow this woman around time and space like they did when she was a man. No one is as devoted to her, admires her as much as they did when she was a man.
  22. Why would the first female Doctor not have a companion when all the male ones did? Why would she need to travel on her own, occasionally meeting strangers to share an adventure with? Why would she be the only one denied the friendship that the Doctor has always sought? Why should she be treated differently than every other Doctor? Companions aren't audience stand ins, they're integral parts of the story. A good companion can help lift a mediocre story, a bad one can sink a season.
