  1. It's just the first stage of the U.S. take-over of Canada. Next, there'll be some staged threat to our new oil supply and we'll have to respond with drones and then soldiers to secure the oil...um...help our friendly neighbors to the north, like we do our buddies in the middle east. Because the only way to be independent of foreign oil is make the foreign country American.
  2. Locke: "How do you have electricity, anyway?" Ben: "We have two big hamsters running around in this giant wheel in our secret underground lair." Ben: "You couldn't find the anthuriums, could you?" Locke: "I don't know what they look like!" Ben shakes plant at him. Locke: "Is he talking about what I think he's talking about?" Ben: "If you mean time-traveling bunnies, then yes."
  3. "You lied about your proficiency with MicroSoft Word" was my favorite, from Pete Holmes.
  4. The pig story made me so mad that I started to cry.
  5. This all just makes me very grateful to have health insurance through my employer, the state of Connecticut. Even though my paycheck is docked twice--once for my current insurance, once for the retiree health plan I hope to someday enjoy--and I have to meet a number of mandatory steps every year. Thank god the colonoscopy is behind me..sorry...that was unintentional...and the pap smear is once every 3 years.
  6. Hmm. I did not enjoy last night's episode and that segment in particular. I loathe bratty kids, and loath even more their being rewarded in any way. There are enough obnoxious people in the world. More than enough, really.
  7. "He once parallel parked a train" is one of my favorites.
  8. I was bored. This show has rarely bored me, but it did this week. It has reminded me, though, of a Very Special TV Lesson: do not have a family because they will be used to blackmail you into a Life of Crime. I could not understand more than every 5th word of what Dominic's second in command was saying.
  9. Buzzfeed had something on Trivago Guy the other day. I'm not sure anything can be found there after an hour, but I know I saw it. Here it is.
  10. Thanks to Sharpe, I got Wellington based on a soldier who spent time in Madrid. Thanks, Sean Bean!
  11. No horrible contestants, no obnoxious judges, reasonable challenges with normal ingredients...how did this show get on Food Network?
  12. I didn't think the character warranted an entire episode, especially one so late in the show's run, and extra-specially one that sucked.
  13. I don't care if they tell Wu or kill him off as long as one of the many dangling subplots is resolved. The character was fun when he just showed up, quipped, and left. In my opinion, he's one of those characters who's spoiled by too much exposure. Same with Bud--great fun in small doses, look forward to seeing him a few times a season, but more than that and the charm wears off quickly.
  14. Re: Warren Clarke. I don't remember the first time I saw him...maybe Jewel in the Crown, but he seemed to show up in all sorts of British things I enjoyed. Sleepers with Nigel Havers was one. It hasn't aged well--I tracked it down a couple of years ago. And Top Secret is, imo, under-rated. I had mixed feelings about him being cast as Andy Dalziel because he didn't really fit my mental image of him from the books. Andy is God, after all. But he did well enough. It's a bit of blow losing Reginald Hill 2 years ago and now Clarke. Now there's really no more Dalziel.
  15. That's my favorite of all of the Colbert pistachio ads. The eagle is perfect.
  16. The first time I heard it was 3 years ago when I bought "Christmas with the Rat Pack"...obviously recorded a bit before 3 years ago.
  17. I thought he looked like Gru when he gave Jon the "dark" look in the interview.
  18. Last night was the first chance I had to watch the episode. The best I can say about it right now is that at least it wasn't as bad as the one with the kids. It might seem better later in the context of the full season. Right now, I'm underwhelmed.
  19. I don't remember anything significant after PUPPIES!
  20. If the Youtube file would play, I'd post the link for "The Egg" from 1776 for the argument between Franklin and Adams over whether the eagle or the turkey should be the national symbol.
  21. Oh, yeah! All of those beings culled early in the season should've shown up. There was no pay-off.
  22. As much as I hate the set-up, the Doctor saluting CyberBrig made me tear up a little. This is a first for the Moffat tenure--I actually felt something, in a good way.
