  1. I also question a macaron made from meringue being classified as a cookie. I was rooting for the young guy who won. I've already forgotten his name even though I just watched last night.
  2. I couldn't figure out why Kevin left in the first place. He just got there and presumably came to ask Randall for help. Yes he walked into an unexpected scene, but why leave? Re his rental car, I figure he got that when he flew in from LA for the high school award.
  3. His face was pretty expressionless when Adam was saved. I think he thought Janice was better.
  4. How bizarre that the voters apparently don't show up for Adam until he's on the line. I thought he should have been the one to go last week, and obviously, this week. His talent to me is lesser than Top 10 -- though this is only my second season watching, so I guess I'm not that familiar with the talent level of the show. He seems like a nice guy, but i don't enjoy his performances. To me, he's more of a Joe Cocker wannabe than a country artist. I really dislike the sing-off at the end of the show, the Twitter voting, everything about the way that is executed. Whomever gets the least votes should be out. I'm totally flummoxed and disappointed by Janice's ouster. She was my favorite and her performances always hold my attention (something I can't say for most of the others). I hope Miley and/or Jennifer will help her with her career.
  5. I'm not in the target demo for this show, so I guess it doesn't matter that I haven't enjoyed Chloe's live performances. Her rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was cold and theatrical, as though she were in a rock opera. There was zero emotional connection to the song, and her performance lacked the passion of Bonnie Tyler's original.
  6. I wondered the same. She had her hair clipped away revealing an unlined forehead. Her whole face looked tight. I'm pretty sure he went to Harvard...and if so, my speculation is he did it to honor Jack's wishes after he died.
  7. What do the writers have against LinkedIn? They must have had a very different experience with it than I have. Most I know use it as a very legitimate networking tool.
  8. Yes, he threw the notepad in the trash.
  9. I appreciated that adult Kate and Rebecca had a nice moment, but the rest of the episode left me disappointed. I expected a deep-dive into Kate's past -- similar to "Number One" with Kevin -- that would help us, the viewers, understand why Kate is the way she is in the present. That didn't happen, and I'm not sure why one main character would be given this treatment and not the other. For me, the miscarriage storyline was tied up in a much-too-neat bow by the end of the episode, where after one talk with her mom and another with Toby, Kate had made her peace with what happened (the next day?) and already decided to try again. This didn't ring true for me. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Kate and Toby fished their shower curtain out of the dumpster and hung it back up, which is all kinds of ewwwww. In "Number One," we saw Kate calling Kevin before Toby did. In "Number Two," Toby called before Kate did. Toby kept repeating that he is "a large and powerful man." He is only one of those things. His grand gestures just make me roll my eyes. It would have been easy to simply intercept that package at home or have it routed elsewhere. But that wouldn't have given us a Toby Grand Gesture. The actress who plays teen Kate resembles Chrissy Metz in terms of facial features; however, she is not at all overweight. So Kate is shown to be a bit chubby as a child, normal weight as a teen, and morbidly obese as an adult. Presumably all of Kate's shit is tied in to Jack's death, and since the showrunners are determined to string out that mystery, we don't get the opportunity to learn what exactly is at the root of present-day Kate's emotional issues. Next week's "Number Three" appears to focus Randall's story around Deja, which is disappointing. I want the focus to be on Randall himself. Preferably, S1 Randall, who was a lot more interesting than S2 Randall.
  10. I really wanted Peter to win. His cookies looked (and, from the judges' comments, tasted) the best. It really bugged me that Eddie kept calling him "Cookie Howser." He's 26, not 16! I don't know how dry gingerbread was the winner.
  11. Good to know and yes, I was wrong about the host. My DVR also picked it up as a new episode and it was listed as such in my guide. I will say the cookies were much better than this year's!
  12. Well, in the episode that aired on Saturday, Justin Willman was the host (not Eddie Jackson) and Duff was one of the judges (I didn't recognize the other two). The inconsistent format (Saturday's ep had three rounds, the first two episodes had two rounds), host, judges, and time slot make this all very strange.
  13. So what is the deal with this show? My DVR picked up an episode on Saturday afternoon with a totally different host and judges as well as a different format (3 rounds). There seems to be no continuity. But the show had the same title and my guide showed it as a new episode, S1, Ep 3. So confusing!
  14. Thank you! It's interesting how the same people go on multiple shows.
  15. I was sure I had seen her on another show. I don't do IG so I know that's not where I know her from...
  16. If this is in reference to his autobiography "Late Late at Night," I read it when it came out and I don't agree with those reviewers' characterizations at all. He wrote extensively about his lifelong battle with depression and some of his irresponsible behavior that went along with it. I would not say he lacked remorse at all. I am not a big fangirl of his, though his was my first concert back in 1986 (Corey Hart opened). Anyway, I don't know if Kevin's "public" (as it were) were glossing over his behavior or truly unwilling to recognize it because it compromised his school hero status, etc. It's tragic, actually.
  17. Sorry, Charlotte, no sympathy here. She's a physician who ignored the blatant signs that he was physically and emotionally unwell in order to fulfill her 20-year-old fantasy of sleeping with the quarterback. She and Kevin used each other and they both got what they wanted. What did she expect, that he would hang around for breakfast in the morning? Yes, he is acting like a jerk, because he is an addict in need of a fix. The crux of this episode and Kevin's arc in general is that everyone chooses to see him as the handsome quarterback or actor who couldn't possibly have any problems. No one cares to look any deeper. No one sees him as a person with feelings. Kate used to look after him, but she is way too wrapped up in herself now (not referring to the inevitable miscarriage). I thought this was a really gut-wrenching episode from start to finish. Lonesome Loser may be outdated but it was the perfect song for Kevin. He is a complex and nuanced character and JH is doing a good job with the material. I was fully expecting Kate to lose the baby and the continued phone calls from Kate and Toby made it obvious. I told Mr Jillybean that I hope in next week's episode they delve into her background as much as they did Kevin's, because I can't take a full hour of present-day Kate being an asshole to Toby while the two of them cope with their loss.
  18. Will someone please refresh my memory about Izzie's departure? Didn't she just kind of "ghost" Alex in S6? I didn't remember a cordial split and was wondering why his memories were so fond. I must not be remembering this correctly.
  19. I hear what you're saying, and Jesse may lack flair, but at least he is better than John Henson who hosted the Halloween Baking Championship this year, or Jeff Dunham who did it last year and was especially cringeworthy.
  20. I like Jesse just fine and enjoyed him during his time on on Good Morning America. He's been in broadcasting for several years now. I can't stand having comedians as hosts of the baking shows trying to make lame jokes, and Jesse is pretty good at just being straightforward and doing what he's supposed to do without trying to upstage the bakers.
  21. This show requires a suspension of disbelief, but having two SOPHE employees talk teenagers out of suicide was a bit too much. On the plus side, Monica Potter's absence made the episode far more palatable.
  22. I don't understand why he is so very BROWN. The makeup looks ridiculous.
  23. What is the point of Rafael workout scenes if he's wearing a shirt??
  24. I just read that she is the global brand ambassador for Coolsculpting. Hmm.
