  1. I don't think we'll be up for a second season. It's gotten too convoluted and there's no longer anyone to root for IMO. As an aside, I find Jules extremely unlikeable.
  2. Josh was so off-key for so much of the song. It was painful hearing him try to hit the high notes.
  3. This is my first season watching, and I find the constant Adam/Blake bickering so insufferable that I don't know if I'll make it through the season.
  4. As a woman who never wanted kids, I agree with you. However, I do think Brianna is pretty clearly broken, lack of interest in having kids aside. It would be nice if they explored that a little more.
  5. You would think, but they repeated a few episodes from Season 1 over the weekend, and the winner of the season made a "triple vanilla" wedding cake. Maybe that indicates to the contestants that vanilla on vanilla is a good thing. The challenges in Season 1 seemed much better. I guess they think they can't repeat themselves?
  6. As a newbie, why are some of the battles not shown in full? Is it really just due to limited air time? Seems like they have plenty.
  7. I'm new to The Voice and glad to have read this thread because at least it provides some explanation for Mark being chosen over Gaby. All this talk of Mark having something "special," and to me, he sounds like hundreds of other bland pop stars out there with nothing setting him apart. I didn't understand the choice of Quizz, either. Maybe in a few years..? Then again, I have no idea what happens to the winner of The Voice. Record deal? I guess I should do my homework because I also don't know who any of the past winners are or how successful they have been.
  8. My attention wandered while watching this (on the DVR, not live). It just didn't hold my interest. It was obvious to me that Hope leaked the photos - no big mystery there. Kyle and Megan "love" each other. Mmmkay. I think the role of Megan as written (and, to a lesser degree, acted) doesn't work for this show. She needed to be established as sympathetic before she fell in with Kyle and the IHM crowd. Every show needs someone to root for. When there isn't anyone to root for, I bail.
  9. Aww, I was actually happy when I heard Jesse Palmer was hosting. Bobby is OK, but I find his speech pattern and mannerisms a bit odd and stiff. Jesse is on GMA, which I watch daily, so I'm used to his style and like him just fine. He's long past his football-playing and Bachelor days. Any baker who doesn't like cookies deserves to be eliminated.
  10. And he is several years younger than Debbie Allen, so that was weird. I get the feeling there's a lot more to the story of why he left.
  11. I've been having the same thought. If it goes in this direction, I'm out. Their petty crimes bugged me already without having all three of them suddenly go full-blown criminal.
  12. Vyk, thanks for your responses! I figured the auditions were aired out of order, but that got confusing with all the "my team is full!" stuff. I'll see how it goes and whether I can hang in for the whole season.
  13. I'm new to The Voice (I tried to watch Season 1, but didn't get very far) and I have questions! We've watched all the blind auditions, which was pretty tedious due to the coaches' banter. Fortunately, we DVR and FF through a lot of that nonsense. Do these all actually take place in one day, or do the coaches just wear the same outfit the entire time? Is Adam's and Blake's feud manufactured, or real? I just assume it's fake, but it's so incredibly TIRESOME that it's hard to imagine that anyone thinks the viewers enjoy it. Also, it seemed as though Blake mostly turned for those Gwen did, and that they just wanted to have a little lovers' battle over many of the singers rather than really being interested in coaching them -- anyone else get this? It seemed like a weird sort of foreplay that was annoying to watch. I'm also curious to know how they decide the order of the auditions, since it seems as though the last few don't stand much of a chance, after judges have filled their teams.
  14. I am simultaneously looking forward to and dreading this episode. Side note: why only 18 episodes? Is this considered a "full season order" these days? What happened to prime time seasons consisting of 22-26 episodes?
  15. My husband walked by the TV while I was watching this and commented on how thin he is now. I used to find him so attractive, but he doesn't seem to be aging that well.
  16. I think Randall has been on the path to leaving his job for a while now and that the pears were just the tipping point. I think he very much intends to take to heart William's advice to "roll down the windows" (although I hope he doesn't "grow out that Afro") and I believe he will embark on a journey to finding out more about William and exploring relationships with other family members. All of that being said, it bothers me that he would quit his job without discussing it with Beth. (I was similarly bugged when Michael quit his job without discussing it with Jane on Jane the Virgin). Unacceptable for any married person to do that, no matter how much drama it adds. I enjoyed the scene with the mailman. It's all part of Randall discovering who William was and how he affected the people he met. I expect that journey to continue in season 2. It's been mentioned in other episode threads, but according to our timeline, in the scenes where the Big Three are teenagers, Rebecca would be around 45 and Jack would be around 52. Yet nothing is done to age their appearance at all. Jack also needs better 90s styling as I don't recall many 50-something guys with longish slicked-back hair and mustaches. Ever since Rebecca's tour was mentioned, I have anticipated that Jack would die in a car accident on his way to see her on tour. I wasn't, however, expecting alcohol to be involved since Jack's drinking has only come up one other time. Mr. Jillybean does not believe that this is how Jack is going to die - he is anticipating another twist. If, in fact, this is how Jack dies, I can understand why Kate would think this was her fault. What I don't understand is how she has made no progress toward absolving herself in the 20 or so years since he died. Apparently she has never spoken about this...with anyone? Hard to imagine. Toby has his good points but his regular moments of crude buffoonery make it tough to like him. I wonder if Jack did, in fact, teach Randall (and Kate and Kevin) to drive as discussed in his dream about Jack and William. Did none of them have a driver's license yet, so Jack still had to drive them around? Maybe they were still learning at that point? I'm rooting for Kevin, but it's total bullshit that he came to NY to get Sophie back. It's lovely fodder for a dramatic speech, but it simply isn't true in terms of what we, the viewers, have been shown. A FUN-eral sounds much better to me than a funeral.
  17. A couple of things I forgot in my earlier post: I thought I heard Daphne call Deacon "Dad," which was weird. I think Scarlett's former rat's nest has made its way to Maddie's head. Also, between the accident and her return to the hospital she had 3 different hairstyles. Priorities.
  18. To me, this was a poorly written and executed episode. Since we knew Connie Britton was only doing a certain number of episodes, it seemed obvious that she would die in this one. Once they pulled a fakeout last week with her surviving the stalker only to be T-boned (very unimaginative, soapy trope), I thought it was obvious that they one again were trying to fake out the viewers with her seeming to pull through surgery just fine early in the episode and then biting it at the end...especially after seeing her dead mother (Carla Gugino must be really hard up for work). I actually giggled at the death scene with Deacon and the girls sobbing over Rayna's flatlining body. If they were going to do such a phoned-in death episode, perhaps they shouldn't have aired it two days after This Is Us aired a flawlessly acted and executed episode culminating in the death of a beloved character. And I actually liked Rayna. I've already removed this DVR timer. I have no interest in seeing Tandy, Teddy, and Deacon fight it out for custody of the show's new main characters, Maddie and Daphne -- or to watch Avery following Juliet around carrying her stuff week in and week out.
  19. Maddie was set against the new mark from the moment she saw his photo in the pilot. Hoping this is going to blow up in her face.
  20. Although I don't plan to keep watching, I did really enjoy the scene of Diane watching the inauguration, shell-shocked, then immediately making plans to move out of the country.
  21. I had no idea this wasn't going to be a CBS series airing on CBS. I wouldn't have bothered with the pilot had I known. Oh well. Good luck, Diane.
  22. I realized during this episode that I don't enjoy any of the plot lines anymore. CMT appears to be putting the final nail in the Nashville coffin. You know you are scraping the bottom of the barrel when you do a show about a kid getting her period. Seriously, WTF.
  23. Yes, this! The pancakes kids were screwed. Not only was this challenge stupid, it was also unfair. How about we see the kids bake something normal? Why do the challenges have to be so ridiculous?! I really liked Reese. It was time for him to go, but he was a sweet kid and one of the more authentic of the bunch.
