  1. I'm pretty sure Kat's parents foot the bill for her posh apartment. I feel like that was brought up at some point in S1. Aside from everything Kat does, the other thing that bugs is when they constantly reference "Tiny Jane." I'm way, way outside the target demographic of this show. Is this type of thing tolerated/encouraged/enjoyed among the 20-something set these days?
  2. John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf have also appeared in successful films, for pete's sake.
  3. From the ABC Facebook page: BREAKING: “The Conners," a spinoff of “Roseanne,” will premiere in fall 2018 on ABC. The show will have 10 episodes and Roseanne Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series, according to ABC Network. https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/roseanne-spinoff-connors-premier-fall-abc/story?id=56075443
  4. Kat is just as annoying in S2 as she was in S1. Jane not being rehired at Scarlet was a refreshing surprise. I see a freelance career in her future. Though I have to say, I don't think a silly YouTube video about some unknown writer would have garnered so much attention that she would be blackballed from hire anywhere.
  5. My go-to is Frasier reruns on Hallmark Channel.
  6. Her Twitter account is still active.
  7. I forgot all about the finale until I checked the DVR this morning to see what was new. NHL playoffs have a way of making everything else on TV unimportant. I'm happy that Maddie won, and I don't mind that she's dating Caleb. But I cringed when she said she didn't care which of them won. Girl, 20 is too young to marginalize your own dreams for a guy.
  8. This is what I told Mr Jillybean last night.
  9. Steve Perry is one of the greatest vocalists of our lifetime, so it was terribly disappointing that he would go on national TV and lie about Gabby's performance being the best version of the song he's ever heard. Aside from the fact that she skipped half the lyrics, it was energetic karaoke at best. I used to hope my favorite wouldn't win, so he/she wouldn't be hamstrung by the terms of the Idol contract. However, I have no idea what that entails anymore. I'll just state that Maddie is my favorite. If she doesn't win, Caleb is next in line from a vocal talent perspective. Gabby doesn't belong in the top 3.
  10. Maddie is so obviously the most talented of the finalists, which means she won't win. I expect Postmodern Jukebox has a place waiting for her.
  11. I took Terence's comment to Shaun to mean that he wants to move her into DeeAnn's role, probably having a relationship as well as running IHM together. I would expect her to want both.
  12. I'm rooting for Megan, as we presumably are supposed to be, and I like the alliance she's formed with DeeAnn and Leslie. It seemed fairly obvious what DeeAnn was up to when she asked Terence to go over the plan. That recording needs to live somewhere other than Megan's and DeeAnn's phones. I'm not sure, however, why Megan doesn't go ahead and use the recording to annihilate Terence since it was her goal to destroy IHM. What's happened with Shaun is no surprise. She has seemed gullible and (inexplicably) mesmerized by Terence for a while now. Megan spending the night with Xavier seemed out of character and I can't figure out why it happened unless it was simply to provide the impetus for Kyle to decide he wants revenge on her. As with last season, I liked Megan's final line. I think Christine Evangelista does a great job with the character.
  13. We didn't watch last night, because NHL playoffs. But we watched a little bit of our recording during first intermission. As usual, we fast forwarded through the majority of the performances from Cade, Michael, Gabby, and Caleb and, of course, all of the "judges" "critiques." This morning I FF to the end of the recording to find out who went through and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Maddie made it. I also watched Maddie's "I Told You So." Lovely. We are never even tempted to FF through her performances but we typically can't/don't want to see a full performance from any of the others. Maybe we'll watch the rest of the ep tonight. It doesn't take us long since we only care to see bits and pieces. Because of the stupid voting process, we went ahead and cast our votes for Maddie without seeing her perform. I won't watch next season based on the disappointing format and "judges" panel. It was a nice touch having the moms in the credits.
  14. As far as I'm concerned, Gus stole every scene he was in. I kept rewinding to watch him. He is an improbably chill Golden Retriever puppy. We have a 5-year-old Golden who we raised from puppyhood. We decided they either play with Gus for hours before filming his scenes, or he has an amazing trainer (or both). I noticed in his scenes on the couch, Adam or Bonnie (or both) is constantly petting him which is one way to keep him calm. But in my experience when you stop petting, Goldens will keep nudging you until you resume. Gus didn't do that. He is hilarious in his chillness.
  15. It's true country is most definitely not my thing. But I've heard and endured a lot of country contestants on Idol, and Caleb just doesn't stand out. He sings on-key, but that's about all I can say for him. His song choices are not strong, he doesn't have any charisma, and his "aw, shucks, ma'am" schtick seems contrived. YMMV
  16. Last night was pretty bad for all of the contestants except Maddie. This isn't a very strong group at all. The popularity of Cade, Michael, and Caleb is mystifying. At least with Cade, I realize that long hair + guitar can cover a ton of weaknesses. We think Michael is so awful we cannot even get through an entire performance. Ditto for Caleb. The judges are so, so horrible. At this point if it weren't for Maddie I wouldn't tune in. I'll watch the rest of the season (or until she is inevitably eliminated) but won't return for another season with this joke of a format/"judging" panel.
  17. Seems like getting a job must not be a high priority, given that she moved from Chicago to Lanford. Do we even know what her job was or why she lost it? I don't recall hearing anything about that. We're being asked to fanwank an AWFUL lot.
  18. I don't know...I suspect Adam believes that the Ada persona is key to his success, since he was less successful in his previous Idol attempt as Adam. I'm not an Ada fan...nothing against the person, but I feel that the talent level is only so-so and the Ada persona is what's selling it as better than it is.
  19. Are people forgetting S2 winner Ruben Studdard and S3 winner Fantasia?
  20. Team Maddie. None of the others are remotely in her league. It's a disappointing group overall.
  21. It turns out you can get through an episode really quickly if you skip the faux mentoring and faux judging. Plus, you don't have to be subjected to Katy's manspreading...WTF?
  22. Ada's outfit/costume had me running for eye bleach. Oh honey, no.
  23. I consider Train pop. The kind of bland, lite pop you might hear on an elevator or at the dentist's office.
