  1. I've already watched all 10 episodes but I want to drop this comment here. I have never understood the Helen-Ryan relationship and I've thought since S1 that it's because Ryan is completely miscast. The actor is really bland and it isn't believable that the formidable Helen has been pining for this milquetoast her entire life. There's no chemistry between them and never has been. He also appears about a decade younger than her. Unfortunately, this adds up to not selling their relationship for me at all, ever. Helen and Erik, OTOH...🔥
  2. In which case he would still be Charlie's son.
  3. Older Sophie (Kim Cattrall) literally said at the end of the episode that Val and Charlie had Alex. There's no ambiguity, the kid is Charlie's. The show has some potential but the acting is so manic and OTT. It's painful.
  4. They killed a dog. I'm out. I don't care what happens in the last two episodes. This show went from mildly amusing satire/dark comedy to just completely fucked-up. No thank you.
  5. AJLT needs KC a lot more than KC needs AJLT. She's been plenty busy creating new characters instead of resuscitating old ones (with a face full of fillers). She'll be just fine.
  6. Aren't they friends from college?
  7. This was me too. My dog was asleep on the couch with his head in my lap and I jolted and said aloud "what the fuck?" Rude awakening for the pup.
  8. This show would have been so much better without Daphne and her family -- even if they were the tie that kept Emma and Charlie in one another's orbit. I too thought Emma and Charlie had no chemistry - I think they needed a different female lead. The Nicolettis were a fun family and I would've liked to see them continue pulling off some Robin Hood-esque capers without the confines of Daphne et al.
  9. The misdirects with this show started with the very first episode of Season 1 and just became more and more blatant by the end of S2. Overall, this was very emotionally manipulative and felt like they were trying (and failing) to follow the This Is Us playbook, especially with all the flash-forwards obviously designed to mislead the viewers. The show is very loosely based on the books but really just dropped the book characters into different storylines. The adult Tully and Kate didn't seem like the people that teen Tully and Kate would have become. On the positive side, I really don't like Heigl but she was good in S2 even if all her wigs throughout the series were terrible. Chalke was good. I wondered why a lifelong blonde's hair grew back brown. I hope the closing scene doesn't permanently ruin "Dancing Queen" for me.
  10. They really need to have Charlie do something cute once in a while. Otherwise, she's just a walking affirmation of life choices for us childfree-by-choice folks.
  11. Ted Lasso's Regression Problem The Fug Girls tackle Ted Lasso in their new Drinks With Broads substack.
  12. Is it? It's very depressing. Then again, "And Just Like That" was apparently classified as a comedy, and there were zero laughs to be had.
  13. We found this episode to be very flat, with the exception of Marsha Warfield. I think the showrunners are about out of ideas. Chim and Maddie joined Bobby and Athena on their weekly crime-solving duo shenanigans. Yawn.
  14. Beard's line that Jane makes him go with her to Copdendents Anonymous. 😂
  15. I'm not feeling it. I like the leads (and all of the cast) but there's no sizzle between Charlie and Emma. I'm having a tough time buying her as someone who has a casual hook-up, much less someone who says I love you a couple of weeks (?) later. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to have been. Also, her reaction to Charlie not responding to her premature declaration of love was childish. This show had promise but it tends to sit around on our DVR for a few days and isn't ever my first choice of what to watch each week.
  16. I'm older than Michaela McManus and I literally never carry a checkbook. I have one (rarely used) but I wouldn't bring it to a function like that. I'd be more likely to go another route for a donation of that size. For example, make a pledge and follow up with the payment at a later date. As someone who spent years in nonprofit fundraising, sizable pledges are much more common than just showing up to an event with a $100K check. Carrying around a checkbook when you've got that kind of money in your account seems like a recipe for disaster. But anyway...it served the Owen Strand Show storyline so there you go. I like Rob Lowe but Owen is a very tiresome character.
  17. Who's walking around with a checkbook anymore? I don't care if it was a charity function, that's just hard to handwave. It's concerning when Mateo is the mature voice of reason in the room.
  18. I wish there had been some explanation about Charlie suddenly being with Eddie. I was sure I missed some scenes or a full episode. Gina gives away a LOT of food. Does she ever sell any? Or is her food truck strictly a charity? (There actually is a nonprofit food truck in my town, but they sell food and donate the proceeds.)
  19. I knew Mouse was young Marjan as soon as she appeared in the rental car. Owen, let go of the damn bike already. Those balloons were really cool.
  20. Mostly because he had money and because he didn't love her, IMO. Carrie needed the thrill of the chase, it was the topic of an entire episode with Aidan. Once she got Big, she tired of him, too.
  21. So are Bobby and Athena officially a crimefighting/detective duo now? Because that isn't the show I signed up for but that seems to be the direction the show is taking this season.
  22. Probably an unpopular opinion but I think this would have been better as a movie rather than a series. It seems like they are really stretching the material to fill all the episodes. The plot is moving at a glacial pace with minuscule developments from week to week. I liked the show initially but it's become tedious. I have no idea what they will do with a second season.
  23. I will be surprised if anyone can. It made no sense. Just when I thought we were safe from the Gabby Petitto inspired story becoming a two-parter, the previews proved otherwise.
  24. I thought they were dropping heavy anvils throughout the episode that Katherine is going to re-think her stance on marrying Greta. I could practically see the thought bubbles over her head.
  25. I wonder if Katherine will still have the mullet at her inevitable wedding to Greta?
