I, too, am wondering about the decision to air episodes out of order. I'm guessing that episodes 2 and 3 did more to set up the characters and back story. Strange. ETA: also, not enough dogs in this episode.

There were two last night. Didn't y'all see the wrapping paper cakes? Justine saying "tahts" and "bahs" is like nails on a chalkboard. I like her, though. -

Just saw that Gerry is going to be on GMA tomorrow morning. I expect it to be a soft interview since both are ABC shows, but it would be great if they'd just rake him over the coals (they won't). -

Oh wow. It's tough to reconcile the asshole from that story with the nice guy on TV. But THR appears to have the receipts.- 2.6k replies

They could repeat a challenge from a previous season and I wouldn't know or care, even though I've watched all the seasons.- 2.4k replies

Holiday Baking Championship - General Discussion

He's a great host! Anyone else notice he isn't sampling the desserts this season (at least, not on camera)? In past seasons he was digging in right next to the judges. Maybe trying to stay trim for his various hosting gigs (and his wife!). -

Gerry said earlier in the episode that he retired at 55. I'm thinking he knows how to manage his money. -

All this talk about Faith's horse, but Teresa's daughter said she comes over every day. She sees her family every single day. She may come across as needy, but I'm not sure she'd move away from her family. I don't recall if Gerry's family lives nearby to his place, but I don't think any woman should be expected to relocate to the lake home he and his wife chose together.- 2.6k replies

I love Jesse. I watch the Holiday Baking Championship which he also hosts and he's great! I wish he had never left his GMA correspondent gig though. He was the S5 Bachelor nearly 20 years ago! -

I got married at 45 and got variations of this question many times before that. My stock response was "I haven't met the right guy and I'm not gonna settle for the wrong one." -
The Golden Bachelor - General Discussion

I'm really embarrassed for all four of them (Gerry included) with these "I love yous" and "I'm in love with you" to someone they hardly know. At their ages that is just foolish. Do they just get caught up in circumstances, is it the producers egging them on, or what? This isn't real life and they seem like they have just completely taken leave of their senses. I expect this of the young and dumb on the regular Bachelor, but these are grown-ass adults. I was literally cringing. I wasn't expecting a WTA this season. I hope most of the women have realized since taping that they deserve better (Kathy excluded, of course).- 2.6k replies

Lessons in the Book: Your Book Talk Thread
Jillybean replied to Pop Tart's topic in Lessons In Chemistry
In the book, which I adored, Calvin was an extremely highly regarded and influential scientist as as well as extremely homely. I guess they decided he needed to be attractive for the show to appeal. I'm disappointed by the passing reference to rowing when in fact, it was very significant in the book. He brought Elizabeth onto the team, taught her everything, it was something they did together and her participation continued after his death. I suspect they'll make it something she takes up as a tribute, instead. They're following the basic plot but with plenty of changes. My favorite part of the book was the inner dialogue of Six-Thirty. I knew this couldn't translate to TV, so I don't expect much from the series going forward. -

There's no enjoyment in watching a 70-year-old Mean Girl. I keep telling myself she's getting the villain edit, but even if she's egged on by producers, nobody forced her to say all that crap.- 2.6k replies

Drinks With Broads (the Fug Girls) has a pretty good take on this breaking news.
-
Virginia isn't West Virginia, though. The two states have very little in common IMO.
-
It reminds me of the episode of SATC when the prospective adoptee couple come to visit Charlotte and Harry from Charlotte, NC and the show portrays them as rednecks from the sticks. Anthony even has a line calling them "toothless." No basis in reality for the actual city of Charlotte.
-
I've been wondering about this. Again, I'm not watching, but I've been trying to understand what I've read in this thread about a farm or farmhouse in Norfolk?? I've lived in Virginia for almost my entire life. There are plenty of wealthy farm/horse country areas in the state (I happen to live in an area that meets that description) but Norfolk isn't one of them. It's a city and it's on the water.
-
I'm happy to say I'm not watching S2, just reading the discussions here. Sounds like MPK and his cohort continue to cash in on beloved characters without any respect for those characters' histories.
-
Maybe?? I have ALWAYS thought it was Debi Mazar!
-
Debi Mazar was in the post-it episode of SATC. But of course, this doesn't preclude her playing an entirely different character on AJLT, as we've seen from her Younger co-star.
-
I haven't made it all the way through the thread yet (I'm not watching, just reading the threads), so it's possible someone has already pointed this out, but this is only the latest installment in her series about Aidan the Dirtbag, apparently. https://www.primetimer.com/hearmeout/sex-and-the-city-and-just-like-that-aidan-shaw-dirtbag Look, I'll be the first to say that Aidan sucked in the execrable second SATC movie, but that was a clear character assassination and total departure from his character on the series. He wasn't perfect, but you'll never convince me that Aidan 1.0 was a dirtbag. I am willing to die on this hill.
