  1. 137 fruits and veggies Lady is probably counting that Juice Plus supplement stuff. Isn't each serving supposed to be like 40 veggies? That's honestly the only thing I can think of! And I love my fruits and veggies hard, but even smoothies and juicing wouldn't quite get you there. I've made my own bento boxes bc sometimes I don't like a heavy meal at lunch...so I'll have some almonds, chunks of chicken, a hard boiled egg, pineapple, blueberries, whatever veggies I have. Or I'll use rolled up compliant lunchmeat instead of chicken. I always made these for emergency snacks too. Sometimes I would pair it up with soup. But Mel Joulwan's prep on her website saved me. Loved her soup recipes but especially love her version of pad Thai. The leftovers are amazing too. I just got an Instant Pot so I've been messing around with it. Gotta say, dumping in frozen chicken with some Franks and eating it 30 minutes later is pretty stellar on those lazy nights when you know you still need real food.
  2. I think there always seems to be a woman who isn't obviously pretty that makes it into training camp. Sometimes they can glam them up, sometimes they can't. For me, Chandler is one of those. She's cute out in your every day world, but I had a hard time picturing her in uniform and on a swimsuit shoot. I thought her cut made sense. Maybe I'm emotionally dead inside, but this is a dance job. They can maintain whatever standards they want for appearance, and women can meet that standard or not. They are grown women and if they can't stay in shape in a healthy way, they need to find another dream. Period. Why are we blaming Kelli and Judy for eating disorders and abuse of drug and alcohol? Sure, some of these gals are 18 or 19, but for every Caila and Breelan that acts their age, you've got a Holly who seems to have solid maturity. (I think she's a showboat, but she also seems to have her head on straight.) I would try to suss out the immature ones early, but sometimes they take a chance. Kelly and Judy are not their mommas - I can blame my boss all day long for driving me to drink, but it's ultimately my decision to work there and put the bottle in my hand. It's a job. A cool job with a pretty, sparkly uniform, but it's a job. And sure, they'll play favorites. That's how the real world works. I think they ultimately do a pretty good job, but we don't see everything. Megan might be one of those who got put on notice, had no other strikes against her and made steady progrsss. Hannah might have cancelled appearances, had a shit attitude and had gains during camp. Hard to say.
  3. Oh, she did. Everyone was shocked. But you know, all things happen for a reason and God has a plan and there are bigger things out there for her...like being a GSW dancer for a season and going on The Bachelor :)
  4. Jasmine had a good storyline, added much needed diversity and had enough ability to keep her on the squad for three years. If you're not a fan though, watch Season 10 (I think? Her rookie year was season 7) and you can watch her get the boot at auditions, much to her shock. I liked her a lot that very first year - seemed very humble and excited about the opportunities in her life. And I haven't minded her too much on The Bachelor...she's one of the reasons I tuned in this season. Couldn't miss the BSB episode! She was definitely obnoxious at the haunted house, but maybe off camera she was asking the same questions as all of us about slaves that were once on that plantation too. The constant cocktail in her hand probably didn't help! There are some excellent ghost tours in NOLA, some of them just good campy fun and others more haunting like Madame LaLaurie's house. That place is creeptastic. Heaven forbid this show do something culturally relevant though. I will say Boo seemed consistent with any other haunted/ghost/voodoo tour operator I've ever seen though. They're always so over the top!! ETA - oh hey, ByTor! You already know all this DCC crap. I should have paid more attention to who I was quoting ? Oh well, FYI for anyone else.
  5. Sweet little write up by D Magazine about Rachel. Speculation, but not spoiler. I like what I've seen of her so far and would definitely watch her Bachelorette season. I'm glad I live in a city that produces so much Bachelor greatness as well as the DCC. LOL. I also have two loose connections, as Reality Steve used to be one of my vendors (no idea if he still has his day job) and a friend used to date Jojo's brother. I am just a little sad I unfriended him on Facebook years ago ? So weird seeing people you know on tv. I had quit watching The Bachelor after Brad 2.0 and only came back for Jojo. http://www.dmagazine.com/frontburner/2017/02/why-dallas-rachel-lindsay-is-set-to-make-tv-history/
  6. My favorite Bachelor moment OF ALL TIME is during a "where are they now" segment where Brad is eating a sandwich and giving zero fucks while Deanna's season is playing in the background. Contrived for sure but seemed so true to his personality. Oh, so funny. I still kind of chuckle that sweet Matt ended up with that Lamas girl who later married Nik from thedirty.com. Shane? Shayne? I wonder if they're still together...iirc, they had one little one and then she had a late pregnancy miscarriage and almost died? It's interesting to me that one of their more "famous" personalities (thanks to her dad) has ended up out of the spotlight, despite marrying someone who was also media. I did like her, so wish them well.
  7. Did you guys get poofed on? I cackled when I saw Nick was wearing a dark shirt - he had to have been a hot mess of powdered sugar. It's really hard to neatly eat those beignets, plus the wind always kicks up at the exact wrong time.
  8. I've been to NOLA several times, and I honestly think Nick and Rachel's date is one of the best The Bachelor has ever done. They actually got to talk about real things! And experience a city! There's more to New Orleans than what we saw, of course, but I thought it was a lovely tourist day. And then the talk about the funeral she attended and how she decided to do crazy things like return a casting director's phone call for this crazy show...it all rang true to me. Who knows if they'll work out (my money is elsewhere) but this date made the show look somewhat credible. Of course, that all got destroyed with the 2 on 1. Good grief, they are both just awful. I wish he had ditched them both. His chemistry with Corinne is non existent too, especially now that he's over the initial shock of her sexualizing everything and Vanessa gave him the talk. I enjoyed the haunted house date tho, and thought the girls had fun with it. Solid B, The Bachelor. Could have been an A without the 2 on 1.
  9. Whole 30, y'all. It's essentially an elimination diet to figure out what foods eff with your system. I feel like the glory every time I do a round, plus drop pounds and inches. You're just committing to eating meat, fruit, veg and nuts for a month. The books behind it are pretty great too if you're trying to change your relationship with food. And I say this as someone who has done weight watchers off and on since 16, hypnosis, cabbage shop, pills that felt like speed, medifast, Atkins and all kinds of other shit I can't recall right now.
  10. I don't think that opinion is terribly unpopular ? I can see 3-4 max per season. Once at the beginning of football season referencing the glory days, maybe one in costume for Halloween, same for Christmas and then maaaaaaaybe playoffs? Maybe? Even then probably not since many of the cheerleaders don't have a #tbt for playoffs. Sorry Cowboys fans! Sometimes I think Schram and Caila are still on the squad. All have 10+ flashback pics since August. Comparatively, Nicole Bulcher has six, most of them telling a story. I.E., here I am with Simone Biles back when I was a cheerleader. Here I am with the two other DCC who are working at my Bar Method Franchise. She's got a big life outside of DCC that still nicely integrates that part of her history.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hadn't Caila shared some pro-Trump messages on her social media? I can't recall if it was a retweet under her DCC account or on her public personal account. If she had, it's not unreasonable to be asked about it and I wonder if we missed something in the editing process. When you're a public figure and you put a message out there, you should probably expect your employer to ask questions. If that comment was private then no harm no foul. Jay was a dick for wording it as he did - ask about candidates and three of their talking points to check their current event knowledge, but a personal opinion isn't necessary. Unless he was digging based on the tweet issue That said, there were a handful of ways she could have approached that question gracefully and she just missed it completely. A non answer would have been received much better than stumbling and seeming like she didn't know.
  12. The most offensive part of that story (IMO) is how damn long she took to tell it. Mine woulda gone something like this, "My momma called me and said she saw my boyfriend kissing on some girl at the bar and that he took her home...so I went right on over there, busted the door open and caught him balls deep. Sure did take that girl's shoe and gave him a what for. Nasty trash." Source: lived in the south for 80% of my life. Short, sweet and with a bit of twang, Raven. Sheesh. As for the date, I wouldn't have minded any of it except shoveling shit. Feeding a baby cow? Awww. Feeding the big cows and milking cows just seems like a lighthearted way to crack each other up. I loved that they were ripping on him for his awkward teat technique.
  13. I would have smiled so sweetly and said that my momma always taught me that religion and politics made for terrible dinner guests and even worse coworkers. (She actually said bedfellows and not coworkers, but it's indeed an interview.) When you live in Texas, people will make a lot of assumptions about your beliefs, and in a professional environment I always deflect and change the topic. I see the DCC's job as being no different, especially on a public appearance where some of the men are very brash and bold.
  14. Dear Lord that US article says Chase had been dating pundit Tomi Lohren. Bless his heart. He obviously needs the franchise to help him find someone reasonable since he's doing a terrible job on his own. Maybe BiP will work out.
  15. RE Chive Girls - I died laughing because all I knew of Chive is that they helped my friend get a handicapable van and other such things for her special needs daughter. I was not expecting the T&A. Greatness.
  16. I love hearing stories like these - I wasn't sure if I wanted kids until I hit around 35 (long story.) And since I'll be 40 this summer and I'm still single, it gives me a little hope :) Because I have mad respect for single parents, but I know I'm too selfish to start out that way. If that changes, I'll definitely start fostering and look to adopt tho. Just would prefer to do it all with a husband!
  17. Canes and Braums both kill me with those crinkle fries. ? At least at Braum's I can just get my burger with a side of ice cream. Little known fact: my mom ate an entire bag of Oreida crinkle cut French fries every damn day she was pregnant with me (fried up in that cast iron skillet like a good southern girl too.) I hate crinkle cut fries with a passion.
  18. She must have really wanted a Barbie. I understand.
  19. I feel like we have a good mix of fan bases, tho most have some level of tolerance because they like the DCC. I feel like you gals who don't have cheerleaders on your team tolerate the Cowboys rah rah the least ? (I.E., Packers, Steelers) That could just be good old fashioned division rivalries too. I didn't mind the finish this fight too much, but I also only follow a handful of cheerleaders and they don't tend to go too hashtag bananas. Gotta keep my sanity.
  20. I don't particularly mind if their solo costume doesn't show everything, because their field costume does. Heaven knows the camera guys down on the field aren't shy about focusing on a wiggly, bouncing midriff. We've seen plenty through auditions at the Arlington stadium. Ie...I didn't mind Megan's costume last year or Kenzie's (?) sweet floaty number vs something like Erika Jenkins wore where she looked like she had rolled out of bed in her hot pants and got her boyfriend's shirt off the floor. Or Caila's weird outfit that added to the "heaviness" of her dancing.
  21. I agree. That alone made her an ambassador risk - seriously shit judgement. Don't talk shit when the cameras are running.
  22. Oh I just love her to pieces. I'm kind of tickled that being a DCC opened a door to Scottish Rite that she might not have had otherwise, and she seems like she is taking advantage of every opportunity. You can have a career goal, but then get exposed to things you hadn't considered and go a completely different way. Tho as an SMU alum she might have still found her way there anyway - I did some work with them during my MBA program and they are seriously fantastic. They have a strong focus on prosthetics which would suit a medically minded engineer to a T. And now I'm wondering what Amy T is doing, given her related background That said, Dallas is very much a who you know city, more so than anywhere else I've ever lived.
  23. I'm surprised there wasn't more social media activity with the storms...sharing this crazy pic for y'all who aren't local and might not have seen it! I re-watched season 11 this weekend and chuckled when Kelli was talking about how much she liked this season's vets - "no slackers!" ???
  24. I'm tracking with you and honestly don't disagree with you. I just felt like Taylor's kicks were on par with some other weaker kickers who ultimately made the squad in the past AND she was one of their best power dancers that year. So Taylor probably felt like they were good enough to slide by. I was kind of baffled she didn't make the squad and she probably was too ? Maybe TPTB figured Taylor had maxed her potential and it was indeed an incredibly competitive season (Kashara, Megan, Amy T, Holly.) I liked them both, but would have taken Taylor over Kat or Simone. This was the squad of 34 that ended up with a crap ton of injuries too. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I wonder if they ever wish she had been kept. I think I just debated both sides in my head and still can't land on a final answer.
  25. I think Taylor (speed queen) had kicks just as good as any other kick strugglers that made the team and was one of the best dancers her rookie year. I was bummed she didn't make it the first time I watched that season and now I'm just annoyed when I watch again. Solid personality, great (and different) look and a power house dancer. Not surprised she didn't try again...her kicks could have improved, sure, but weaker kicks have made the squad and she probably decided it wasn't worth the trouble. But of all weak kickers, I do think McKenzie is the cutest. Pink puffy heart her ?
