  1. Some people can do 9 shitty things and then 1 good thing and be forgiven and even praised. Other people can do 9 good things and 1 shitty thing and suddenly their true nature is revealed and all the good that went before is just an act. I have see that happen so many times in real life as well as reactions to people on TV: real and fictional. I knew that as soon as Tai made one false step the hammer would come down heavy on him. My post is not directed to you or anyone specifically. But Tai checks so many boxes that I knew there would be people gleeful to see him lose his popularity. He is a different race, he is a different religion, he is gay, he is an immigrant with a heavy accent, he is old (not to me), and he has no physical beauty. Oh yes, I forgot that he isn't a brilliant strategic player. He doesn't feel good about what he did. It was childish and mean. I wont defend it. But I will defend a good person's right to make a mistake and not be reviled for it. I still really like him, admire him and I hope he wins.
  2. Some of the male All Stars are in their thirties already. I can just imagine what kind of audience will enjoy seeing them do a Tango with an eight year old girl.
  3. You can't be tried twice for the same crime unless it's Federal and there are special circumstances.
  4. I think this has been mentioned before, but if anyone who likes this show gets the chance, watch the British series Thirteen. It's a 5 episode limited series and it's focus is on the abducted girl. It's excellent. I think this show would have been better without the political subplot. When you have 12 episodes to fill and hope for a second season, you can add in a lot of plot twists. The down side is destroying the believability of the show and adding nonsense like the affair between the father and the policewoman to fill time. I also think it is improbable, although not impossible for a young child to go missing and no one caring or reporting it. There is federal legislation requiring the immediate reporting of people under 18 who are missing to law enforcement.
  5. I'm always thinking that everyone who watches this show is much younger than I am. I talk about the show with two of my grandchildren. The other two decided all three of us are weird for liking it. So, sorry about making an assumption. I do think some young people use the phrase without knowing where it comes from. And those horrific images come back to me me whenever I hear it.
  6. Do you think all of his followers would commit suicide on his orders ? (That's what drinking the kool aid actually means) I haven't read the comics, so I don't know if his followers are brainwashed, afraid of him or just happen to agree with his ideas. Or do you just think that JDM looks like Jim Jones?
  7. Sorry, I didn't even remember his name, much less his occupation. In case it hasn't been mentioned in another thread, I don't think it will be Aaron. They just killed a gay character. There will be justified protests if they kill another one. Have we ever seen Aaron's partner in more than just that one episode?
  8. I think they are going to kill Abraham and then take Maggie hostage. I'm sure they have a doctor. If they didn't, they would have taken Hilltop's. They will get Maggie well and save the baby. By taking her, they have a twofer.
  9. If they were supposed to get Lizzie out alive, then why were at least three weapons aimed right at her the entire time she came down the aisle and back again.
  10. I made it half way through the pilot and got so bored I turned it off. To me it pulled the amazing feat of too much crammed in and being draggy at the same time. I may try it again in the future. Maybe it's a show you have to be in just the right mood for.
  11. I think it is wonderful to see someone be that openly affectionate with others. Human beings need physical touching that isn't just sexual. It is healthy for us physiologically and psychologically. Unless someone verbally or physically shows that they are uncomfortable with it, which I haven't seen yet, I think Tai should continue to be himself. I think he is an amazing person and a great " ambassador" for Buddhism.
  12. They actually could have gotten to Hilltop safely if they'd just driven the RV through one of the giant plot holes in the story.
  13. I thought this show was excellent overall. Yes, there were questions that weren't fully answered. I do think that there was a strong implication that Ivy was pregnant at some point. And since she had to wear certain clothing to truly be Alison, there must have been a real Alison in his life. What bothered me the most was that the police mentioned Stockholm Syndrome in the first episode and then acted as if it couldn't exist in Ivy's case. If a group of adults that were held captive for only 6 days bonded with their captors, it is ridiculous to think that a thirteen year old held for 13 years willingly ran off with an older man and is now lying to protect her lover.
  14. They should threaten to blackmail him and his wife. They could easily produce fake documents showing that the pastor and his wife are the real spies. Or they could go a different route and hide child porn photos in his house.
  15. I didn't realize until last night that he was being played by Ryan Hurst.
  16. I didn't get to see the ending. Would someone please tell me what happened.
  17. I remember Irving being much more unlikable in the books than in this series.
  18. He's supposed to be a sane, moderate Republican, and to me he sounds like one. But then I've lived long enough to know that great speakers don't always win and some pretty dull ones do; Ike and W. come to mind.
  19. I've lived in Georgia. I was sweating so much I think the Walker's teeth would have just slid off of my body.
  20. Ironically, I was one of the three people that liked Minority Report. But most advertisers are still looking at the 18 to 49 demographics. I feel like all they'd want me for is to talk my children and grand children into watching.
  21. Meagan Good is 7 years younger than Bonnie Somerville ( who at 41 would be considered middle-aged). I think they are trying to save the show by bringing in and focusing on younger actors; and sudsing up the story lines to bring in younger viewers. If they get a second season, and continue on that path, I wont be watching.
  22. I think it means that Lizzie will want to kill Reddington when she finds out her mother is still alive and he lied to her about it.
  23. Neil is the same in his talking heads now as he was before he got married. I think it is a shame that a calm, mature and emotionally stable person gets labeled as having a psychiatric or personality disorder. His family history and cultural background may give him a different perspective on arranged marriages. I see him as wiling to be patient and give the marriage a longer chance to work than seems reasonable to the rest of us.
