Uhtred and Leofric lead a raiding party to Cornwall on a mission for wealth and independence. The peace has broken, the Danes are threatening Wessex, and a huge storm rages. Uhtred puts himself forward for a daring stealth mission to outflank the Danes and destroy their ships, but in the process he attracts Ubba’s attention and is challenged to a one-on-one fight to the death. Told as a boy never to fight Ubba, his chances against the man-mountain look slim. Fire in the hole!

You really nailed one of my main reasons for disliking Helen. And why do they have to spend 3 months there every year, when no one wants to be there except for Whitney? Wouldn't two weeks be plenty, or does Helen feel obligated to serve her time so she gets the big pay off ? Saying that her parents will never change, so no one should pick fights is just so pathetically passive. Helen must surely see that her mother just reinforces Whitney's worst traits. If she thinks Noah should shut up and let himself be humiliated because he's an adult, doesn't she at least want to protect her daughter from her toxic grandmother. I think Helen chooses to be oblivious to the damage being done so she can tell herself she is a great wife and mother with a happy life. Then if things go wrong, she holds no responsibility. Helen is my least favorite of the four, but then I think about who raised her and remind myself that she could have turned out a lot worse. And before someone asks, No, I don't think she "deserves" to be cheated on. I also don't think she deserves some wonderful life. She'll never have to worry about money, which already sets her apart from most people. I would love to have that stress lifted off of my daily life. And the options that money give you is a luxury she takes for granted.

I checked it out and if you include the previously on, opening and closing credits it comes to 64 minutes So we basically got 1 hour of TWD. I know a lot of people would have preferred to have last week's episode be 90 minutes. But I'd rather have an episode like this broken up about a dozen times than one that is heavy on action and suspense. I don't need several more minutes of Glenn as Schrodinger's cat

It was 90 minutes because of two trailers and endless promos for other shows along with the usual excess of adverts. Other than those constant interruptions, I really enjoyed it. But I did have a problem with a psychiatrist working exclusively with prisoners and only diagnosing one as a psychopath.

How can a thing of beauty be gratuitous. ;-)

Is there anyone who didn't expect Mildrith to be lovely underneath that beekeeper's mask?

Do the books go into the relationship between Alfred and Mildrith in more depth than what we've seen so far on the show?

A cunning tactical play by King Alfred keeps Uhtred close at heel, but it’s not long before Uhtred realizes he’s been tricked and his relationship with the King hits a new low. King Alfred then invites Uhtred to peace talks only to use him as a pawn, handing Uhtred over as a hostage to the Danes. However, the turn of events reunites Uhtred with his Danish brother Ragnar the Younger. When the tides turn once again and threaten Uhtred’s life, Ragnar proves to be a true ally and quite possibly, Uhtred’s saving grace. Meanwhile, a great battle looms over Wessex.

At the end of the day this show was begging to be put out of its misery.

I knew Lizzie wasn't really dead, but it was a good look on her.

They were pretty careless, so I think a lot of people would know, and it would make a juicy piece of gossip. Yes, people were more homophobic then, but even today most people don't approve of adultery. Abby is my least favorite character. She's really immature and impulsive. I have no idea what she was trying to accomplish hinting at Oppenheimer's affair to his wife. It's not like she was trying to warn a close friend. You don't invite your husband's boss and spouse over for dinner and then try to humiliate them, especially if you are Ms. Pot.

Does anyone know if those scars Alexander Dreymon's face are real? He didn't have them (that I noticed) in American Horror Story. If they are fake, they look very realistic. Yes, he looks a bit like Orlando Bloom.

This is the second episode where the importance of reading and writing is mentioned. I haven't read the books, but I'm guessing this may be an important plot point later on.

Uhtred wins the protection of Alfred. He believes his commitment to the newly crowned King will help ensure he continues on the path to reclaim his birthright, but this newfound allegiance might also cost him his relationship with Brida.
