What a Church chooses to do, and what the faith stands for, aren't always the same thing. Unless Sunny was outright advocating for people to have abortions, she wasn't contradicting herself at all.

Noah and Nicolina remain the stars of this season. I enjoyed both their performances, but Noah's first and Nicolina's second in particular were amazing. Noah just has it all, imo, the voice, the looks, etc. He's easily the best country guy this show's ever found, I could totally see him doing something post-show and if he doesn't it'll be a real shame. His grandmother's reaction to him picking "Landslide" was so sweet, that felt genuine. I would've felt bad if Fritz had went home tonight, he's a sweet guy...but the female contestants get screwed on this show all the time, so... I could've lived with it. Jay had to know tonight was his night--then again, I thought last week would be before Lady K got early booted. Like Noah, I could see the possibility of HunterGirl having a small window for success post-show since I liked the original song she performed a couple weeks back. That said, I'm not crazy about her voice and while its weaknesses are sort of hidden on her own material that's written to her strengths, all these covers can't help but expose them; this week's performances were as bad as last one's for me. I went into this thinking Jay, Christian, and Leah were most likely to go. Then Leah got an opening slot, which meant she was spared this week. I'm glad Christian will get to sing with Buble, that is the artist who I could see him imitating if he got a chance to release music. Hopefully Nicolina and Noah will be in the top 3. I wouldn't care who wins between those two, but I can't help but think that HunterGirl being there could divide the country vote and give Nicolina a shot... I wouldn't be mad if HunterGirl or Fritz somehow managed to win either; I do like Fritz and HunterGirl, again, had a few original songs that were good.

And Ana Navarro. Not at all. That would only be the case if being a Catholic meant forcing your religion onto non-Catholics, but that isn't one of its tenets, as far as I know? Whereas Sunny's meaning when she said that about Lindsey (and I agree with her, tbh) is that the other cases involve being against your own community's interests and empowering those who want to take away their rights. It would only be the same if Sunny's position meant all Catholics were getting punished or limited in some way in spite of being Catholic herself--but nothing she said implies forcing anything on or taking anything away from her fellow Catholics in the slightest....

Future Co-Hosts Talk and Speculation: Musical Chairs
TheGreenKnight replied to mtlchick's topic in The View
I think Joy will sign another 3-5 year contract this year. This is the end of the one she signed in 2017, I believe. She might seek a bit of a pay raise as part of negotiations, but I doubt she's going anywhere yet, unless she just wanted to. -
If true, Perez was probably trying to protect her because Whoopi was an asshole to everyone but Nicolle that season (Nicolle was only spared thanks to kissing Whoopi's ass like nobody's ever kissed it before). That aside, I don't buy that an attention-seeking Real Housewife passed on any job that would provide them attention; it's the same reason I rarely trust anything said by someone from reality TV either. She was never a serious option, I imagine--you can't pass on something that was never offered you in the first place.

I agree. But Lindsey, like most of the guest co-hosts the show has brought on this season, seemed to resent the comic relief. They prefer everything to be tense and toxic and personal, which is why she acted the way she did and no other reason. Anyone watching knew Joy was making a joke, one that she then used to describe herself (and both Whoopi and Ana went on to describe themselves with, too). Only Lindsey had a problem--and it was with Joy being opposite politically to her, not the joke itself.

I don't watch Bill Maher regularly--he's never been someone I fully agreed with anyway, but I found him funny sometimes--and it's probably a good thing I don't watch all the time because having seen yesterday's episode and this one within a couple of days of each other, I agree Maher has changed significantly over the years and not for the better. Well, really, I'd say "changed" is a nice way of putting it. It's more like he's putrefied.

I'd throw Scotty and Alaina in there, too. They've had success, true, but they butchered "When You Say Nothing At All," imo. I had to go look up Alison Krauss to wash my ears out after that. Would've loved to hear Yamin and Toscano for sure. I was happy to see most of the others, particularly Jordin, Archuleta, and Grace. Wow, David Cook and Kris Allen have aged (or maybe it was just the haircut that looked bad?).... I already knew that about Cook, but this is the first time I've seen Kris in a while. I hope he puts out another original album soon though, I think the last was 2016's Letting You In. I think they wanted Cook and Archuleta to duet together the same way they did on their finale back in 2008 (same as Jordin and Ruben did on Jordin's finale), but Archuleta had surgery. I wasn't surprised less people came back for the 20th, since there was just a big to-do 5 years ago when the show ended on FOX. I think they'll have something equally huge if the show reaches its 25th season. Personally, I was grateful JLO was not there. People here complain about Katy, but JLO was 10x worse than her. I would've liked to have seen Keith Urban though, he's a sweetheart. I never liked Ledet. While I did like Jessica, season 11 was one of the weaker seasons, so that isn't saying much. I'd take Jordin and Ruben over those two any day.

Nicolina was the only one who did any good, imo, both in taking a risk with the song choice as well as entertaining / standing out vocally. I like how confident she is and that she enjoys being on stage, that's pretty rare for big voice types on Idol. She and Derek Hough were the best things about this episode other than Katy having to be wheeled out and then falling, lol. HunterGirl's performance was terrible (hers and Jay's were the worst, imo), but I was right there with her when she was acting googooeyed over him, lol. I was hoping to like Fritz because of the song choice, but it didn't work for me. I felt like everybody besides him and Nicolina were incredibly predictable with their song choices though. I did feel a little sorry for Lady K, although she was never going to go far. I thought she sounded very pretty actually--and I think her going so soon was not according to plan for the show, considering they gave her an opening slot--but I wasn't surprised because she missed so many words in the song. I actually liked the way she ended it (the arrangement, I mean), only she went and fumbled the very last note. Idol rarely aligns with what's popular these days thanks to their diminished viewing audience. Sounding current is more likely to get someone eliminated on this show these days than help them.

Kat did say she wanted a "break" from from the cafe. I think she'll end up going back to it after she's had a breather. It makes sense she would need one after everything that happened with Oscar and then Nick buying the place right after. Leslie Jordan remains the best part of this show. I hope it gets another season. How many episodes does a show need to be syndicated?

My favorite moment this week for sure, second only to Whoopi's speech in reaction to the news about Roe v. Wade Monday.
-
I don't think Sunny was personally attacking anyone by pointing out how illogical that stance is. She was right to be skeptical of a sell-out like Lindsey. I have no pity for Lindsey. She was an asshole from the first minute this week, and more than that she made a complete fool of herself several times (like saying Biden can simply end the filibuster or make women's rights legal via executive order, lol). It's one thing to be a moron, but even worse when you're a moron who wants to talk over everyone else.

And that's why Teta doesn't deserve an award. The ratings show The View does not need antics. They can find a conservative who argues during topics, but is still friendly and respectful with the others once the topic ends. Paula Faris was a good example of that.
-
Paula!!! I can't wait to see her on here again. I'd much rather she guested this week than Lindsey whoever again.

I've heard that said about Glee. It really is a shame. The Biggest Loser would be a good, alternate title for The Weakest Link actually, if it weren't already taken. I may have been too hard on Amber for being nonexistent Wednesday and Thursday. Thinking back on it now, I have a feeling that Ana threw a fit about there not being time to speak on that one topic they did Tuesday, I believe that was the day it happened (even though they had had two segments on it at that point), and so Amber probably stifled herself the next two days so the others would get their time and there wouldn't be any more conflict. Poor Ruffin and Lynch having to be there this week and having to deal with that going on. 🙄 I don't blame all lawyers, I think it's just Ana and Sunny that have ego problems. McMorrow was brilliant. I was surprised when they brought it up on The View today, simply because it had happened so many days ago now.

I only now finished the second half of the show, and wow... Sunny and Ana were something else at the end of topic about weddings and marriage. Sara was being playful with Joy, but they both seemed full of themselves, pissed off that Joy had disagreed with them on other topics the past few days and Jane Lynch looked a little uncomfortable at the tension. I'm going to chalk it up to a bad week, but if this is how they're going to be all the time now, I'll be ready for them to go. This show wouldn't have any trouble finding co-hosts who can fill those seats without being a drag--Deborah Roberts, Julia Haart, and Jane Lynch being the most recent examples. I'm not going to feel bad for Sunny the next time Whoopi shuts her down. Darren Criss has always been so cute. Glee was on the air just as I leaving high school, so... He and Jane Lynch were two of the best parts of that show for me (Colfer, Michele, and Rivera being the other highlights).
-
As far as the jokes Joy was reading from the comedy writer: the Tucker Carlson joke was a good one, and the whole Biden faking falling asleep is another good idea. Ana keeps taking forever with her points; she looked annoyed at Joy for going to commercial, but, well, this is a TV show.... They all know how little time the this gives them for topics, this isn't new information. Seriously, I'm not going to be able to take it if we're about to start developing another bitter pill among the cast (Sunny being the other one). Jane Lynch is a breath of fresh air, but admittedly I've always liked her. I felt like Amber rarely said anything several days she was there, whereas Lynch has been contributing to all the topics.
-
"Going to glory" is a euphemism for going to heaven, not ceasing to exist.
-
I'm sorry for your loss, that must've been hard. I don't believe Amber's meaning was people never see one another again, so much as they aren't in this world anymore. I believe you could receive dreams or signals from them from elsewhere, but I don't see them as being here in the sense that a house could be haunted or that kind of thing. *shrug*
-
Both Sunny and Ana have a weird vibe going on lately. At least to me. Anyway, I personally side more with Joy and Amber on the spirits topic, particularly what Amber said about believing people go on to glory and have peace, not forced to float around the earth. I think Ana was shadily talking about some of the guest co-hosts who've been on this show the past two months, too, when she made that statement about people from that administration trying to rehabilitate their image...

The show wasn't interrupted until just before the interview here, but most of their interviews are blah anyway, Besides, I wanted to see Albright's funeral, personally. The show was a bit off the rails today. It seemed like Ana kept interrupting everyone's point midstream and then they tried to get back on track afterwards, or at least it happened to Sara and Joy (not sure about Sunny). She was funny with the joke about testicle-tanning though.

I've heard a lot of his songs due to overplay ("Your Body is a Wonderland," "Daughters," "Free Fallin'," the oh-so-horrible "Waiting on the World to Change") and yet I still didn't know either of those songs they picked for him. I didn't know what to expect, but I ended up loving Noah's performance. I liked when Allegra did "Free Fallin'," too, although not as much, and I've never liked that song. A good voice can elevate bad songs, I guess. Always hated Mayer's voice.
-
Well, that's dumb. The only characters whose story doesn't feel done are Georgiana and Charlotte, and yet I'm sure they're all coming back. Esther was probably the most interesting character / actress on the show, imo. So in season 3 we lose Esther and Clara, and get an extra dose of Edward and his horrible mustache. Mess.

American Song Contest - General Discussion
TheGreenKnight replied to BetterButter's topic in American Song Contest
This is show is terrible. Washington is awful and they gave him the number 1 spot over Rhode Island, Alabama, and Michigan. Even Jordan would’ve been a better pick than him, what losers. Made it easier to fast forward considering we've already heard all the songs. No reason to endure this show longer than necessary knowing these godawful results, pretty confident there won't be a second season. I only watched Montana again. I liked the song a little more and he performed better this time (and the shirt showing off his body didn't hurt either 😉). -
Well, I was right that the artist was involved in the plot to destroy Georgiana's reputation; I didn't know why else they would introduce that plot unless they were connected to one another, and the early episodes made the artist look villainous to me. I'm glad Clara confessed in this episode to get this over with, I thought for sure this would drag over to next season with maybe a final glimpse of Esther in an asylum this episode. I was so hoping Lady Denham would send Edward to prison--it would have been a fitting end, with him having tried to get Esther locked away only for it to happen to him. I suppose next season Esther will appear at Lady Denham's home again with a time jump, having become pregnant so that we know her and Lord Babbington are happy (and that Babbington still exists...) I was hoping Esther might invite Clara to live somewhere on her and Babbington's estate rather than leaving Clara stuck dealing with the horrid Lady Denham's pity. The resolution to Colonel Lennox's debts was hard for me to buy, tbh. I mean, if he isn't willing to pay people based on a bill or being accosted, why would he feel the need to honor a bet either? I'm glad Georgiana's plot next season will be to find her mother rather than another man.
