  1. I haven't seen anything, but I've got $5 on the Veep and another $5 on Mama Pope (yeah, not entirely sure where she is these days). I could be blocking some plot point that rules them out, but, if so, only because Show is filled with WTF boredom moments like Ian. I did like the jam jars--but I have a thing for jam jars. Not for Fitz, though, feh. Oh and another positive thing: Scott Foley in boxers.
  2. Joe's offer to help the no-meat dawg maker made me like him a little. Wow.
  3. I had watched LCK (mostly to see Doug kick George's ass) and when they delayed revealing the winner, I felt strongly (hoped stronglyer) that it would be Doug. He hit the ground running and did not coast, did not hesitate and killed it. I'm very happy with the final three--and for once, there's nobody that will make me want to throw my TV off the balcony if they win. Did Padma seem all kinds of touchy with the guest chef or was that just me seeing her a little baked and in a super good mood? ETA: That's "touchy" as in all over him as opposed to appearing overly senstive.
  4. Ugly confession: I watched the China's Sweet 16 episode. Sucked. Not that everything wasn't a smashing success, according to David, but the faux stress, dipshit drama and every single moment of anyone kvetching to a camera could have been a high school production of a reality show. Don't think that was influenced by the tween subject--this thing went to the dogs (sorry, dogs) long ago. eta: Out of sequence editing was hilarious--when Brandy shows up to surprise China, David greets her in darkness. The rest of the show was filmed in daytime.
  5. If she did, I missed it. Twitter, otoh, had a freakin' field day on Wendy and her production of Alliyah the night Whitney aired. Guessing that didn't make hot topics, either. This show is an occasional hate watch for me as I get dumbstruck by the trained seals in the audience and what is arguably a ridiculous "performance" by Wendy. (That's not the good ridiculous.)
  6. I know, I should have known better--when the b.s. see you in Mexico card got played, I had to wonder wtf I was thinking wasting time watching it. I'm hoping George's spicy dish wasn't as well balanced as Doug's and that the last we'll see of Wet George is wishing everyone good luck in the finals--from the beach.
  7. Thanks for nothing, Internet show. I better see Doug on the 28th.
  8. innovative but badly cooked vs. not-so-innovative and delicious? On Tom's show? Buh-bye Faucet George. (Please stay gone, go home, have a nice, damp life.)
  9. Holy crap the wife moving to San Juan had the most intense bitch face I've seen in awhile--couldn't tell if that's a resting bitch face or an active bitch face because she wore it the entire time before her choice in homes was revealed.
  10. Robson + black lab puppy = I'm in.
  11. There's Violet and then there's hate watching the rest of it at this point. A re-tread Bates murder plot makes me think he didn't do it--because I'm thinking Fellowes doesn't really want to wear the big "hack" sign. Mary can go fuck herself--a feeling I've had from the beginning and mostly held all along. The art guy never said Cora was super smart but that she had a good read of the paintings--which would be totally believable of the character, who I hopes kicks Robert into his dressing room for a good long while. Delusional Edith needs to go off for a long rest or some adventure--she wears her blinders well but the cluelessness has gotten old and I just don't care anymore. Still have a fondness for Mrs. Hughes--here's hoping the next few weeks doesn't dampen that. And I'd be glad if Thomas doesn't come back, but I know the odds of that suck. Everybody else is just irritating in the background. Except Violet, because Maggie Smith can do it all with a tilt of her head.
  12. When asshat Phillip shut down his wife's logo choice and said, listen to me, it's this one, I started rooting for his wife to stick to her guns. No surprise, she caved, as I'm sure she does on a regular basis. I wish her all the luck in her continuing role as the lesser half of that sky. I suppose it's just a matter of time before Irvine or Ching show up to save their place and hammer Phillip that he has to listen to her. The lone wolf may be unfazed, but again, couldn't Joe or Tim have hired a finance person for Rock, Paper, Scissors?
  13. I found him especially annoying. Since I missed the very beginning, I didn't catch what he did for a living--and the rest of the ep made it seem like he'd be the stay-at-home dad. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but his piss-poor attitude about every freakin' thing made me wish those little boys good luck!
  14. Good lord, the guy with the small budget started bitching about using a spare bedroom for his home office--he wanted more bedrooms and an office. I couldn't stick around to see what they went for--*sigh*--either he was a total dipshit or too easily manipulated by producers. Will try NOT to re-watch this one.
  15. Heh, I don't believe Chef Pepin would have any sort of problem staying away from Anne's kitchen. I recall Tom flipping out about there not being an old hen in somebody's coq, but also, iirc, didn't he chastise Carla Hall for saying that she cooked with love? Sad to see Doug go, and especially after he was so clearly wowed by meeting Jacques. Raw foie does sound pretty gross, although I'd have to agree that the uncommon technique/dish should have gotten a little credit over a sure-fire miss in the making like the short ribs.
  16. Not just you. Did I hear the producers rubbing their hands together, saying "Mah-wahahahahaha" when the older daughter started bitching about room size, closet size and every other entitled "wish" of hers? Also, not fond of another budget-buster that turns out to not be a problem. Oh yeah, and according to Houzz or somesuch, brass fixtures are making a comeback. Oy.
  17. Loved Nick Frost's performance. Do not love that Clara is back. Show is titled Doctor Who not Doctor Companion. I could hope she'll be different, but hoping here leads to crushing disappointment (I was so excited about Peter Capaldi, but didn't guess he'd be appearing in DC).
  18. Dear Lord, the mayor of Pittsburgh cut a bunch of city employee hours which put workers in a shit hole and then comes along and gives one of them some dough on national TV. In the spirit of the holidays, I'm going to log off before I start ranting about the rest of the self-righteous, self-congratulatory, dipped-in-bullshit I just witnessed. Happy for the recipients. Sad for the rest of the hurting population. (Heh, it was clear that one of the guys who got a bundle had absolutely not been a fan of the mayor. At least one of them.) It's one thing when a company comes on in a PR effort. It's quite another when that PR bullshit is pulled by an elected official.
  19. shapeshifter, sorry if it wasn't clear that I was 100% referencing the super-cute, super-overachieving, most-amazing-dude-ever character!
  20. Well-played, Sir. The only slack I cut her was that it appeared her family was coming a long way to the wedding so she wanted the place to be done. Maybe they were going to stay with her? (Congrats, husband-to-be.) I get that, but again, they're recording you--with sound--save it for later. I'm with you--if he agreed to get married after 6 years, he must enjoy being told what to do or something.
  21. Tim Daly is still adorable, so thanks for being on my TV, but now that I see this CV, is all this supposed to make Madame Secretary look even better?
  22. I didn't care for Kristen "Desperate" Wiig when she was an actual cast member, much less when she just won't. go. away. Don't know if it's entirely her fault (although Garth and Kat are channel changing time, if I'm watching live--ugh), but lots of things were off/just not that good/lame. I really enjoyed Michael Che on TDS and was sad to see him go but thought he was getting a big break. Now I'm thinking he just wasn't ready for prime time--or is, but is the victim of writing/directing that isn't on TDS level. Blowing the "sedatives" line didn't help.
  23. I've missed the long, thoughtful, smart and funny Craig monologues from the way-back. I lost a lot of interest around the time the robot showed up--not sure who it was aimed at, but it wasn't me and it changed what I liked most about the show. Good luck, Craig--thanks for the desk Tardis and for not interviewing the usual guests about the usual plugola. And for those monologues. And I really don't like watching Leno. (Unless this turns into some bitterfest.)
  24. Go, Paul/Cher! Darlene didn't want to get all sobby tonight? No worries, DL, I will enough for the both of us.
  25. Good thing I had a couple of tissues left after last night. Oh, Stephen. Just when we think it can't get any better, there you go again. See you soon!
